My university was kind enough to send us an email telling us not to go outside tomorrow. It will be -5, with a -30 windchill. They even provided us with a frostbite calculator, to determine how long we can be outside before exposed skin becomes frostbitten. On average, in tomorrows conditions - anywhere from 7-12 minutes. BUT THEY DID NOT CANCEL SCHOOL. All classes are still on. Attendance still counts. Test and quizzes still count. All the other schools (universities, colleges, grade schools) are closed. Oh, but not us. Here's how quickly you'll get frostbite, but you still have to go. Not to mention the fact I attend the school with one of the country's largest campuses. 10,000 acres. It takes me about half an hour when I walk from one class to the next. At the very least, a 15 minute walk from my first class to the nearest parking lot. Ugh. Not safe.
