To be fair, the east coast was a good bet, considering Australia's population distribution. 

As for the focus on characters, I think that has to do with where we are in the story. I personally think it would be a good idea to give each character their chance to have the focus. I intend to bring us to Black Marsh soon enough, so I think things may shift there. Although, as the months go by, the shift will inevitably go back to Ahnasha and Fendros.
