Strangely enough, most infected individuals survive, but what's worse is that alongside turning into grotesque abominations, they have also developed extra body parts suited for combat such as defensive carapaces and spiked tentacles, and even more is that their mental conditions are slowly becoming more and more aggressive, and has developed hostility to the point that they are actively trying to spread the reproductive NPSM "spores" to other worlds through the usage of FTL engines left in orbit and surface. This explains the loss of contact on some worlds being experienced. Nexen does not care enough to give action, and the other two factions are attempting to obliterate the NPSM abominations.
