Hot damn, someone with an actual opinion and creative outlet. I'll reply to you twofold:
- My ideas for cases will reflect many of the manga and anime ones, but I will most likely be adding darker, more gruesome twists. The manga itself had far darker tones and more light-hearted ones, many of which were censored by FUNimation or cut from the anime as a whole. I want to incorporate those as well as update the premise to a more recent timeframe, possibly add in some elements you see in more recent Young Adult Novels. I will, of course, be going over the anime and manga again as well as redesigning and re-imaging things such as zombies, artifacts, items, origins and just about everything else you saw in the original. I won't be raping their concepts, but I will be formatting them to be more applicable to a roleplay and to be better literary resources. Anyone may feel free to shoot me ideas for cases or re-designs, or possibly plead for the opposite - to keep something as it was originally. For example, one of my very favorite plot devices and arcs was the artifact arc with the Forlorn Mirror. I will most likely preserve that relic in some form or fashion. Anyone may request the same and I will take it into consideration. They may also come up with ideas as to how to use such items. Or, they may create some items, preferably from something like Shinto, Hindu or Buddhist customs. - The plot itself is meant to mirror the stages and sagas that the anime went through. To be a parallel. It's not meant to completely emulate the events. For example, Genkai will be a character. The sagas will hopefully go Spirit Detective, Artifact, Rando, Genkai. Now, these sagas have main elements and purposes. Spirit Detectives are when the Spirit Detectives return to life. Artifacts will be based around initial cases leading up to something big involving legendary items. Rando will be the competition to see whom is taught by Genkai. They will share these elements and story progression, but I will not make them predictable or dull. I'm a big fan of George R. R. Martin, so I may just throw in some of his surprising elements and shock factors as well.
Ultimately, Genkai, I do thank you for the more layered input. If you have any suggestions or comments, throw them at me. I'm more than interested and I'm even more interested to hear about your previous RP and how you had it ran.
