Skylar

Skylar walked in through the portal in her home at the village of Rheoden, breathing in the smell of coffee and adventures (If adventures had a smell) She hung up a sign in front of the door asking for help and settles behind the counter. It is a relatively quiet day and birds are chirping outside. She washes her hands and stares at the skylights and the view beyond. It's the same clouds everyday, a full moon almost each night and a sprinkling of stars that shine as brightly on yesterday's night as tomorrow's night. She looks out the window at the tall skyscrapers and the worn down wooden cottages, at the steam rising from the chimneys of a stout brick house to the solar panels of a mansion. The town of Rheoden always captures her interest, all the time. As she makes herself a coffee and stocks up the weapons in the weapon room she thinks about the responsibility that comes with taking care of such an establishment. She hopes with all her heart that she will do a good job and commences with her day.

Quinton

Quinton was already inside as Skylar came in. After all, this was technically his home and he doesn't exist anywhere else anymore. The young adult bows to her in his tux, and offers her a cup of tea on a silver platter.

"Tea, Madam Skylar? Or would you care for a cup of coffee instead? I have brewed and set up all the drinks for all the possible guests who may come today. All meals and ingredients prepped and readied, though my skills in both creating drinks and meals are not the same as a chef, I have done what I can to make them above the average. The entire building has been cleaned inside out, and the rooms each have a new scented candle including the Training Room. I made sure to not leave a speck of dust anywhere within the naked eye, and have organized the equipment and jobs on the board several times by color coded alphabetical order."

The butler was ready for to fulfill his duty to in order to train and gain the title, Master Butler.

@cloudystar"I'm already making some Coffee, so it's fine Quinton. And nice work with everything. Do you have all notices on the board? Wait. No. Don't answer that. You probably already do." Skylar smiles at Quinton and grabs her mug of coffee. She sips at it and goes around examining the place. "Have you heard of Gus the Assassin?" She asks Quinton. She doesn't wait for his answer before continuing "I've already posted a note on the quest board for anyone who would like to hunt him down, we have a lot of rewards if that person brings him over here." She notes, running a hand over the glass counter.

Jameson came falling from the sky and onto the front door of the Cafe, surprisingly he was unharmed except for a few aches here and there. First he was in the middle of summoning a demon, the next he was sucked through a portal in the ground and now here he is. "Where in blazes am I?" he thought to himself while taking a look around. He saw familiarity in the cottages and houses, but the tall skyscrapers were a daunting sight to behold. He turned around and saw that he landed in front of some sort of tavern, might as well take a look inside and ask for directions.

Jameson entered the Cafe like a cliche cowboy from a western movie entering a saloon. The smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the room, it gave Jameson quite a pleasant surprise. He noticed a young lady drinking some beverage by the glass counter while another well-dressed young lad stood nearby, they were both around the same age as Jameson. The tavern was well kept as if it was from a fairy tale, certainly different from the taverns he was used to in his travels. He took off his hat and knocked the dirt off his boots, trying his best not to ruin the efforts of whoever cleaned this place and went towards the couple.

"Sir, Ma'am, I'm Jameson from a quiet little town way down south. Mind telling me where am I? This may sound crazy but I actually got teleported here through a portal if that makes any sense." Jameson eyed the beverage as he spoke, it smelled even better up close, he hasn't smelled such aromatic coffee in his life, or anything for that matter. Everything felt familiar to him, but at the same time brand new.

"Oh!" Skylar startles as she sees the guy dropping down to the floor. When she hears his question though she perks up. "You're at the Adventurer's Quest Stop and Cafe, Jameson. Would you like anything to drink or eat?" Skylar asks in quick succession. She notes his hat and the dirt staining the floor but doesn't say anything. Skylar places her mug down on the counter top and gives a warm smile, waiting for his answer.

"Heh yeah... Sorry about the dirt, you wouldn't believe what I just came out off." said Jameson with a bit of guilt and relief. "Nice cafe you have here ma'am, but what I meant to ask was which town or village am I in, I've never seen such big buildings before. Oh and a cup of coffee would be nice, but I'm not sure what kinda payment do you accept." Jameson paused for a moment before adding, "I could offer my services if you don't accept my currency." in fear that he might be rejected his first decent drink in his life.

"Hey...No problem. You're here in the village of Rheoden and those buildings are called Skyscrapers, due to the fact that they quite literally scrape the sky. I accept all currency so you're okay. Have a seat, do you want anything? Also if you don't know what to do go ahead and check the notice board. We can train you if you have anything you need to be trained for in the Activity Centre or if you want to go on a quest for some reward there's a quest notice up as well. But don't mind my rambling I'll go get you some food and drink. Whatcha want?" Skylar walks up to behind the counter and starts busying herself with getting stuff ready for whatever Jameson needs.

"Rheoden huh? can't say I've heard of it before. And skyscrapers... quite a straightforward name." Jameson ended his sentence with a chuckle followed by a sigh, "I think I'm done questing for the moment, but I'll have a look around your tavern. Oh yes, a cup of coffee and whatever food you think is best if you don't mind."

Jameson then went around the tavern, checking out the Activity Centre and notice board. The Activity Centre was quite peaceful, due to the fact that there was no one there, the walls were made of glass panes, Jameson couldn't see how any activity could be done here without any equipment. He then went over to the notice board, "The almighty Gus the Assassin... sounds like a dangerous fellow. Oh, says here they're hiring a bar master, might wanna ask the lady about those. What's her name anyway?" he said to himself.

Once he was done, he took a seat back at the glass counter awaiting his food and drink. He called out to the lady behind the counter, "Ma'am, what might be the name of such a fine lady like yourself, and says here you're lookin' to hire a bar master? Also who's this Gus fellow?"

@xChrome "Here's your order, Jameson" She places down the steaming mug of coffee and a platter of Ribeye and potatoes in front of him. "My name's Skylar, I'm the owner of this place. And yes, we are hiring a bar master, you interested? As for Gus he is the notorious assassin that recently escaped out of the Rheoden Jail. All citizens have been tasked to help find him." Skylar explained, sliding into the seat opposite him.

Jameson began wolfing down the steak in front of him, "Mish Shkylar, thish hash gotta be the besht shteak I've efer had! Thank you!" said Jameson even before he swallowed his first mouthful. He swallowed his food and continued talking again, "The place I was heading to couldn't even be a fraction as perfect as what you have here. Tell you what, you give me a roof over my head and food as good as this, I'll be your bar master without pay and help out around here if I can. As for Gus, I'd be glad to hunt him down, provided we get more people on the case of course."

Quinton

Being the overprotective butler he is, Quinton was gathering every single detail from behind the newcomer without him noticing. The mannerisms of the cowboy were somewhat expected though at least he showed gratitude when given graces. Then there was the fact that he was willing to suddenly become Bar Attender, without an application or anything! Not even bothering to show his skills at the moment but asking for the job on the spot, Quinton came out from fixing one of the nearby rooms after he heard that part of the conversation to talk as well.

"Madam Skylar, I don't believe we should be so quick to give away jobs to strangers. Not to offend you Sir...Jameson. My name is Quinton and I am the Butler here but I believe that the proper proceedings to apply requires an application of sorts first that states your history in case there were any events one wants to hide in the past. However, I believe that one should do so, so that Madam Skylar doesn't hire a potential danger with no history, again not meaning to offend you Sir Jameson. I wish for the best of my master and do not wish to do her harm, I hope you understand.

Quinton does a bow to the two and even heads over to Sir Jameson to wipe some dirt off his shoulders and back for a moment with a quick flick of his handkerchief. He also took note of the guns and small tools, happy that he's been taking lessons in learning other forms of weaponry to understand how such weapons function.

@xChrome @cloudystarAs soon as Skylar hears Quiton's suggestions she blushes. She was so stupid to be offering a job to this...person she barely knew. She gave herself a mental face palm and turned to Quinton, giving him a thank you smile. "I think Quinton is right and I'm so sorry for my quick decisions, not to offend you Jameson but maybe if you would like to tell us a bit about yourself, give us your ID for inspection and possibly show off your fighting skills, just in case we need an emergency bouncer, in the Activity Center?" Skylar blushes all through the explanation and gives a shy smile, taking a sip from her coffee and shifting in her seat, fidgeting with her hands under the table.

Gus The Assassin

Gus walks through the tight crowd around Rheoden's center stage in the city centre. He blends in easily, wearing a hooded black cloak and some sneakers. To anyone who would've looked like one of the black cape boys that frequently roamed the neighborhood. But he was not. And under the shadows of his cape he smiles a malicious, cunning smile that could send anyone into shivers. No one was yet to stop him and he would soon find his boss and get the proper payment for a job well done.

Far over....the misty mountains cold. To dungeons deep and caverns old. We must away...ere break of day. To seek our long...forgotten gold. The pines were roaring on the height. The winds were moaning in the night. The fire was red, it flaming spread. The trees like torches...blazed with light.

Softly the brutish woman sang to herself, her sword slung over her shoulders in such a careless manner and her coarse, iron armor clanking and clattering with each stride of her muscular calves as a joyous and jovial smile crossed her lips. Ahh...the sweet scent of the city, such a pleasing allurement as it crossed her nose, bringing with it the many smells, the pungent, smoky flavor of freshly cooked meats and fish upon a crackling fire of pine and spruce wood, the heart-warming aroma of baked breads and sweets and confectioneries, cinnamon buns drizzled with a yummy vanilla icing or fresh tarts made with the bounty of the Earth Mother, the sweetest of fruits like strawberries from the Faelands or pomegranates and apples.

Then, noises flowed through her ears. Not the natural sounds of the forest like meadowlarks chirping in the tall trees or a brook of fresh melted snow trickling through the jagged rocks of the mountains, like she was used to. No, it was the voices of the merchants and the fish mongers shouting their typical banter of, “Fresh salmon, straight from the fjords! Salted haddock filets anyone? Only five pieces of gold! Aye! You there, sir! You look like you could use a nice mud crab for dinner!” But the more familiar of sound of the city was the telltale clank of a hammer striking searing hot iron against a rusty anvil. *KLANK! KLANK!* Twas the sound the warrior was hoping to hear.

"Aye! Old man!" Her voice, feminine yet with a gruffness, carried with her regional dialect through the bustle of the market and fell onto the lowly blacksmith's ears, a dwarf perhaps...or maybe Nariah just towered over him, a typical trait of the Dunenmer people.

"What can I do for ye, lass?" He returned setting down his hammer against his anvil and dusting the metal shavings off his thick leather apron.

Nariah, with one arm she lifted her heavy sword off her shoulders and set it down carefully against the anvil, "Me sword needs sharpening. Can't wait either. I must be on me way to Drevak's Hollow."

The man nodded stroking his stringy and peppery gray beard, "Aye, I've heard the rumors. Apparently a nasty wyvern has taken refuge in them old caves. Been terrorizing the farmers and eating their livestock. Tell me lass, ye a monster hunter?"

Nariah chuckled, "Perhaps. I take whatever job I can get, as long as it pays good coin."

"Aye, so yer a sellsword." Replied the blacksmith. "Well, ye'll need a sword sharp enough to carve into them scales, I'll tell ye that, lass. Let me see here..." Quietly Nariah awaited as he examined the sword. "By Tha'agorn! This sword....it's Dunenmer! I've never seen such amazing craftsmanship."

She chuckled heartily at his amazement, "Indeed it is, me friend, forged by one of the finest blacksmiths in the mountains, Harken Stormblade." Her father to be exact, one of the most revered of blacksmiths in the land. His steel twas far more legendary than his name. Even the Elven Empire of Sardisiat to the east hailed Harken’s steel as the best….at least until they discovered rare mythril and began forging weapons of their own. Since...there hasn't been much business as of late...and the fires of Harken's forge...and his heart....soon grew cold with the coming frostfall of Icy Aureim... Nariah could only pray that her father find safe refuge amidst the warmth of Tha'agorn's forge in High Altia.

After he was done sharpening her blade against the grindstone, the dwarven smith once more dusted off his apron of shavings and handed over Talaran's weapon looking good as new. "There ye are, lass." He proclaimed with a hearty chortle while stroking a few bits of steel from his beard. "She may feel light as a feather, but I assure you I've tempered the steel till it's hard as dragon scales." Nariah smiled lightly and gave the blade a few swings, making sure not to harm any as she did so before sheathing the heavy sword behind her back, her expression noting her satisfaction with the way it whistled through the air with each cut.

"Aye. A fine job you did indeed, good sir." She said in gratitude while fishing a few coins from her leather purse at her side. "How much do I owe ye?"

"Awww not much, lass. A few pieces should cover it." Humbly the smith replied. Nevertheless, Nariah placed in his calloused, rugged hands a generous sum of gold, plenty to go around what with the traveling she's done and it seemed to her the lowly smith needed it more than she did. "Ahhh....The gods bless ye heart, kind lass. Me wife and me boy will surely appreciate this too."

"Ah tis nothing, friend. May Tha'agorn bless ye forge as well, and thank ye for the work ye've done to me sword. I should have no trouble carving that wyvern's head off now." And with a fond farewell, Nariah carried on her way through the city, until coming across...quite the foul odor that choked away the pleasant scents of the market. The slums. Better keep me eyes peeled.

A nefarious place of nefarious people and dealings oh so. In a matter of seconds, some damn sneak thief could rush up and have his hands on her wallet and a knife at her back.

Bah! But the fool would be quartered before he even laid a grubby finger on her hard earned gold. Yet the Dunenmer woman remained alert scanning about the dark alleyways and the crevasses between the unshapely structures, before mozeying into one of these buildings herself in need of a good drink after such a long journey.

It was...well...not an inn, that was for sure, but an abode brimming with strange folk of the likes Nariah's never seen. And that...smell? It definitely wasn't any honey mead. In fact, it was a smell that burned the woman's nostrils. "Where in the damn Abyss am I?" Nariah grumbled confused scratching the back of her head. Did she go through the wrong door perchance?

Skylar

Skylar notices the heavily armored woman that enters the Cafe and instantly goes over to her, forgetting about her conversation with Jameson.
"Hey there, warrior, Welcome to the Adventurer's Quest Stop and Cafe. How may I help you?" She asks, looking the woman up and down. She looks scary if not hauntingly beautiful and brave. Skylar mentally prepares the weapons for the Activity Centre and wishes to herself that her fighting skills aren't that rusty.

Miya & Ishia

@ineffable@Cloudystar

"Get off."

"Ehh?" The lizard replied in her usual couldn't care less tone. "You're surprisingly stiff for someone so soft..."

"Ishia, I mean it...get...off."

"Hmm...again? You've gotta lot of stamina, don't ya? I'm tired, though I wouldn't mind it if you decided to ravage me again." Ishia gave Miya a lazy grin. One of Miya's eyes twitched in minor annoyance. Ishia probably meant it too, considering what she knew after traveling with the lizard for a few months now, and had experienced first had. She probably wouldn't mind such a thing, as much as Miya couldn't fathom why. More importantly.

"ISHIA. OFF. NOW." The young samurai currently was laying on the ground, arms folded across her chest. Ishia was currently laying on top of her. She didn't entirely know how they ended up in this position - they had been traveling together, exploring an old temple for treasure and the next Ishia had decided to go mess with some ancient wards or something. Next thing she knew, they were taking a tumble down a hill and Ishia was using her as a pillow.

Not that Miya particularly minded, but they had more pressing concerns. Like where in the name of the great spirits were they?! Also, she was pretty sure they were in the middle of a road.

Which probably meant the two of them were quite the sight.

"Ara...someone's feeling more dominating than they were last night-" Ishia was cut off by the feeling of her horns being grabbed. "Ah, do be gentle-oof." before she could finish, Miya had already lifted the lizard off of her, throwing her onto the ground next to her with little trouble. Before Ishia could get any more ideas, Miya quickly stood, giving Ishia a small glare.

"Ishia, now is not the time for leisurely activities."

"Miiiya-chan's being a grumpy oni..."

"Maybe I wouldn't be so 'grumpy' if someone hadn't drank all our alcohol last night!" Miya huffed as the Lizard sat up, yawning leisurely. "Besides, We have no idea where in the name of Zin we are!"

"Hmm...huh, you're right this doesn't look like our little love nest, does it?"

"...that's because we don't have one of those you perverted lizard." Miya sighed, shaking her head before taking a look around. This place definitely wasn't something she wasn't used to seeing, and it was all fairly odd, but she wasn't one to let such things bother her. Aside from a few odd looks from people she didn't seem to be all that out of place. "Looks like some sort of tavern over there. We can probably find some drink food, and information there and you can do..." She gave Ishia a pointed look. "Whatever it is you normally do when I'm not babysitting you." At this, the lizard stood and stretch. Her rather revealing clothing leaving very little to the imagination for the onlookers.

"Ah, smells like fun...I wonder if they have any icefire Sake...I need a drink."

"You always 'need' one." Miya sighed, walking into the cafe behind an odd looking...samurai? She definitely looked like someone who could handle a blade well, but the armor seemed somewhat odd to her. A foreigner? Well, no matter. Ishia followed behind her, sniffing the air and scrunching her nose.

"I don't smell the booze."

Ignoring her friend for now, Miya looked around the establishment, taking a seat near the door with Ishia sitting across from her. Well, this was turning out to be an odd day.

"Adventurer's...what? Ach!" A gauntleted hand slammed against Nariah's face, her thick plates clattering "This ain't the Hearthstone Inn! How in Aureim's cunt did I get here?!" She was sure she walked right through the tavern door just a moment ago, but where was the mead, the lovely, buxom tavern wenches and that old codger behind the bar? Most importantly, WHERE WAS THE DAMN MEAD?

"Aye..." Nariah grumbled setting her weapons beside the door. "Guess I'll have whatever's good here, lass. Fetch me yer finest food and drink."

A pretty face the girl was, but Nariah was too irritated to be flitting with her as she would the barmaids. Behind her, she heard some sort of comotion, glancing over her shoulder at the two surly lasses who walked in behind her. This may not be the Hearthstone, but there were certainly some lovely faces to look at.

Quinton

At The Cafe

Quinton goes over to the newcomer to bow for a moment and mention, "Hello ma'am, we hope we can be of use to you and your necessities. I see that my master, Madam Skylar, is attending to you so I'll make myself useful and head over to the newer ones. If you need my assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. My name is Quinton, the Butler of this establishment."

After doing this, Quinton goes over to the new table filled with people and bows at them too. He looks at them with his courteous smile, hopefully giving them a good welcome.

"Good afternoon ma'ams, my name is Quinton and I hope you have a good stay here at the Adventurer's Quest Stop and Cafe. Would you two like anything at all, please ask me. My name is Quinton and I humbly serve here as the Butler. Over there near the woman in armor stands a woman who is similarly dressed like me. Her name is Madam Skylar and she is my master. If you two require anything that needs immediate attention do seek her out or me preferably. Anything you two require as of now?"
