[IC] Sonic (X) The Hedgehog: Free From The Lab { Goth & Angel }

It's been twenty-seven years. Twenty-seven years. Sometimes, Sonya wondered what to do with herself when sealed inside an isolated cell that was designed to withstand the effects of her strength behind her attacks. The only time she was ever allowed to leave the room was to help care for a fellow hedgehog in the room next door. One moment of looking upon him, the more she realized that she wasn't alone. He was her baby brother. The one that her mother was pregnant with when she and Sonya were captured. Because of this, those darned humans had figured that she would be the perfect ploy to get him to calm down whenever he had his fits, so they can continue on with their experiments. These "experiments" contained observations of how the two hedgehogs would interact, sleep, and eat. However, some of them became highly unethical: the process of mating. Of course, to protect him, Sonya refused to cooperate, mainly because she and her brother were related. As a result, she took most of the punishments for young Sonic. Most of them were painful, though a few were bearable.

Now, laying in her bed, she wondered what Sonic was up to...

*Not a word came from Sonic as he laid down on his makeshift bed. He tried to listen to the scientists that were in a room a few rooms away, but with no luck. He couldn't understand what they were saying, but he could hear the muffled sounds. He glanced at the food and water dishes across the room from him, trying to decide if he was hungry enough to eat the garbage that the scientists called food. But, when you had spent your whole life eating the same thing, well, it was like a double edged sword. It had it pros and cons. Part of Sonic wished that the humans would feed him something more interesting, other than the food that they called Kibble.*

Sonya glanced at the food and water bowls that the scientists left for her. So far, so...not so good. She too tried going through the pros and cons of eating, but then, she made it final to eat it when it was given. So far, it was necessary if she was urgently starving. But once it was given, it's not so good. They were being treated like pets; animals. Heck, they are animals, in a physical and biological sense, but that didn't they were to be treated as such. Sonic must be quite miserable next door; with nobody to talk to, he must be bored out of his mind. Getting up from her bed, the blue female hedgehog made her way to the see-through wall that cut her off from the younger male. She knocked on it to get his attention.

*Sonic's ears perked as he heard a knock on the wall. He looked towards the wall, relaxing a little as he realized that it was just his sister. He got off the bed and went to wall, a small smile on his face. His sister had been his only company since... well his life began. The scientists never really put anyone else in the section of the lab that Sonic and Sonya were in, so they wasn't much to look at or anyone to interact with. He had spent most of his twenty six years of life being bored, but Sonic pushed those thoughts about his life aside for the time being. He was curious as to what Sonya was up to.*

It made Sonya smile, as she looked upon her little brother's adult form. About twenty years ago, he was such a small pup, and only the female could make his crying stop, and make him laugh when it was needed. Basically, he shared her desire for freedom, as well as their family's tradition for seeking out a slice of adventure. From then on, she promised him one, and she will give it to him, while attempting to show him the world, once they get off of this "prison". Sonya has been working on an escape plan, since she was a little kit, and today was the day to make it happen. Pointing a white-gloved to the camera at the corner of Sonic's cell, she then made the charading gesture of hitting herself in the head, mentally telling him to play dead. That way, it would alarm the scientists. From there, she will do the rest.

*Sonic nodded, understanding what she had meant. He started to act like he was gasping for air, holding onto his chest as he did. He went wide-eyed and fell to the ground, lying still. For effect, he twitched a few times after falling, to make it seem more real. His eyes were shut, and Sonic held his breath to make it look like he wasn't breathing. As he laid there, he sent up a silent prayer that Sonya knew what she was doing, because Sonic didn't know himself. But, she must have had something in mind.*

Sonya had to prevent herself from laughing at the scene, having cover her mouth with her gloved hand. Once she managed to get herself together, she banged on the glassy entrance to her cell, mainly to human personal's attention. For her to be smart (probably smarter than Sonic), she was under constant watch during the day. Now that it was night, it was their time to make it out alive, and out into the real world; where they both belong.

*The human scientists heard the banging. One looked up at the screen that was linked the camera in Sonic's cell, and saw him playing dead. Of course the humans did not know that it was just an act, and raced to the area where they kept Sonic and Sonya. As Sonic heard them approaching, he fought the urge to get up and defend himself. That would ruin whatever Sonya had planned, and Sonic wanted to get out alive just as badly as his sister, if not more. He remained limp as the humans opened his cell. The humans looked at each other and shook their heads. One put gloves and grabbed his ankles, ready to drag the "dead" hedgehog out.*

As the humans flooded into the cell that the hedgehogs shared, Sonya had her arms crossed on her chest, and watched. Predictable humans. Who knew that they could be so easily fooled? They were nearly about to drag her "dead" brother out, but before they could even get him halfway out the door, she acted fast. Unraveling her arms, she first dashed at the human who was dragging her brother. Tucking herself into a ball, she used her spin-attack to hit him in the chest in such a concussive way, he tumbled back into the people behind him. The way out was so wide open, Sonya grabbed her little brother's hand, and ran out into the hallway. "Don't let them get away!", one of the scientists shouted from the ground behind them.

*Sonic ran with his sister, glancing behind him every now and then as they tried to find an exit. The alarms went off, the sound of them hurting his ears as he ran. Along with sound, red lights flashed on and off to the beat of the sounding alarms. The humans were fast, but not fast enough. Sonic turned his attention forward once more and saw that door was closing in front of them, trying to prevent their escape.*

"Sonya!" *Sonic exclaimed, looking at the metal door that is the process of shutting. Sonic wondered if they would be able to make it out of the lab, and how many doors like the one before them they would have to get through if they were to make it out. Fortunately, as the door had just enough room for them to get through open, they made it through the door.*

Sonya took the lead of the getaway. Ignoring the blaring lights and repetitive alarms, she led the way, while Sonic slightly tailed behind her. The sounds also hurt her sensitive ears, but she kept up the movement of escape. The female hedgehog heard the younger's exclamation, but she did respond back to him, as she pushed forward. Advancing upon the closing door, she wasn't gonna let it stop them from reaching freedom. So, taking hold of Sonic's wrist, the elder moved forward faster, almost pulling him. They were lucky, because with a slide, they both made it through within seconds of time left. Finding the lab to have an intersecting hallway, she looked back of all the times that those humans had to escort her and Sonic. If she remembered correctly, they was an exit that led to the outdoors. And it was close to here.

"That was close. Now, which way do you we go?" *Sonic shouted, trying to hear himself over the alarms. His heart felt like it was going faster than he usually would. He looked around, wide-eyed, remembering all the times the humans escorted them through this area. A low growl escaped from him as he recalled the bitter memories. He heard more footsteps approaching, snapping him out of his thoughts. His ears were flat against his head from the loud noise of the alarms, and his quills were raised in alarm. He hoped that Sonya would figure out which way they were supposed to go, but the humans were advancing quickly.*

"Come on, Sonya!" *Sonic thought, but did not say the words out loud.*

Sonya thought long and hard of where that next exit could possibly be located. Because of the alarms, it was kinda hard to hear herself think. The incoming footsteps were not helping either. Mentally, she continued to think...until she reacted fast. "Come on!", she finally said before taking Sonic's hand, and leading the way to the desired exit.

"Seal the exit!", a human guard shouted, as the door immediately closed, and the extra guns were aimed at the incoming escapees. Sonya gasped, and skeetered to a halt before them, with Sonic in hand. The female hedgehog growled at the obstacle, clenching one fist, with Sonic in her other hand's grip.

"I'm not scared of you!" *Sonic shouted. He looked at the exit, then at the human guard who said to shut the door. A growled escaped him once more. Because of that bastard, they couldn't get away. He looked away from the human guard to the exit, then to the guns that were pointed at them. Could he use his speed to get away from the guns? Sonic thought about the possibility of that, then about his sister. He knew that she was also fast, but he didn't like the possibility of leaving her behind. After all, she was the only family that he had left. Sonic also knew that his sister had done a lot for him, but the last thing he would ask of her would be to give her life to save his. To himself, that sounded downright selfish, and he didn't want to be like that.*

Sonya noticed themselves already surrounded by humans with guns. Her green eyes scanned them all, as well as behind her at Sonic. She looked to the blocked door behind armed humans. She had to think of another plan that would potentially get them out of this mess...and fast. "Ahh", she exclaimed, once something came to mind. She turned to Sonic and whispered in his ear. She would take out each of the guards, then she and the younger can combine their might to burst through the door.

The female hedgehog jumped up from the ground, and launched herself at the guards, having to use her concussive tucked-in ball form, and knock them out with a bonk to their heads. Having to the use the rest of her speed, Sonya bounced off the wall, and unraveled herself, stopping before Sonic. Aiming to the door, she smirked to him, mentally telling him to get ready. "Now let's see who's got the gear", she said to him, playfully, giving him a competitive stare. Dashing towards the door, she gave a mighty push of force, and blew the door off.

"Not bad." *Sonic said, smirking as he exited the lab, following his sister. He closed his eyes and sniffed the air. He never smelled fresh air before, due to being locked up in the lab his whole life. The air smelled almost sweet. He opened his eyes and looked behind him at the busted lab door. He then looked to his sister and made a gesture for her to follow before running off. He paused a little while later, looking back for Sonya, to make sure that she was following him.*

"A girl can dream, right?", Sonya asked rhetorically, once she heard Sonic's praise, just before proceeding to follow him into the outside world. "You feel that, Sonic?", the female hedgehog asked him, as they ran away from the lab, and halted once they were at good distance from the place of her little brother's birth. "Freedom...and adventure", she recalled while looking at the stars in the sky.

*Sonic looked up at the sky as well, thinking about his mother. Sonya probably didn't remember her, but there were times that Sonic was tempted to ask his sister about their mother. Either way, he sent a silent message to his mother, even though he didn't know for sure if she would get it or not.*

"We're free, mom. Free from the humans." *Sonic thought. He took his emerald green gaze off of the stars, and looked at his feet. His ears were not back against his head more, but they were not perked either. He was thinking about his mother still and it hurt him to think about the woman who had brought him into this world and died as a result.*

Sonya frowned, once thoughts of their mother came to her mind. There was a very vague memory left behind about the woman's existence, and just by looking at the sky, one of them came back. There was a time where she watched the sky with her, as well as the time where she would touch her mother's belly with her tiny little hands. Then, there was a tiny sliver of her mother telling her to "always protect her brother" and to "stay alive". As these memories recalled themselves, the female hedgehog had her green eyes closed, and arms crossing her chest.

Her eyes finally opened, as the wind gently blew passed where they stood. It felt good upon her spikes. In the distance, she took a gaze at some lights in the distance. Streetlights! They were near a local spot. She looked at Sonic next to her. "Come on, let's find shelter", for that, she ran on the lighted road, going so fast, and only making a blue blur in her tracks.

*Sonic ran after Sonya. He sniffed the air, trying to determine if they was rain coming. Of course, Sonic didn't know what the difference in scent was like when the weather changed. But, now that he was free, he figured that he would learn the different scents soon enough. For now, he was enjoying running, which he was only allowed to do if the scientists forced him to do so. But, he wasn't being forced to run. He was running on his own will, and he promised himself that he wouldn't forget his life at the lab, as he could use the past to learn for the future. He whooped, showing that he was happy. It was strange for him to feel like this, as happiness was a emotion he rarely felt in the lab. On the upside, the happiness he was feeling right now was a good kind of strange.*
