R U L E S & R E G U L A T I O N S:

1. - I will try to work with any writer I can to ensure that you can create a character you truly want to portray and will enjoy playing in the IC. That said if I ask you to rework something, please do not just 'ghost' me. I am not a tyrant and am open to discussion within reason, together we can likely hash out a compromise. In terms of power levels for this RP, we're looking at something akin to 'strong street-level', for a comparable media look at Marvel's Netflix Series or the majority of characters from the tv series, Heroes. Our characters, while competent and powerful should still be able to be overwhelmed by regular humans.

2. - Please use the provided character sheet but feel free to modify the sheet's colors to suit your needs or your character's theme. Additionally, minor modifications may be made to the placement of the sheet's categories or their contents, however, please do not disregard the character sheet or submit one of your own design. I'd also appreciate it if only completed sheets were posted in the OOC. If you need feedback on an incomplete CS, I would prefer a private message or DM on Discord.

3. - Post when you can, don't make excuses for when you can't. I'd like us to have an open and honest line of communication as Player and GM and if you're not posting because you don't feel like it, I'd rather you tell me that than say you're 'busy' and keep me in anticipation of a post. I'll be keeping in touch and checking in weekly to touch base with anyone who hasn't posted but please be honest with me on the 'why'.

4. - Don't mistake actions and hostilities in the IC as OOC interactions. Drama, rivalry and resentment will happen in a well written IC due to differing character ideologies. This does not mean the writer has any personal beef with you merely that they're developing their character in the same way you are.

5. - The IC will contain mature themes but will not violate any of the Guild's fundamental rules. Therefore while mature language, drug use, and violence are all tolerated, sexually explicit scenes will not be. Writing substance such as 'Smut' is not tolerated in public forum and has no place in the IC.

► Constantine's Guard Created by Lord Wraith
A fragment of the Knight’s Templar, Constantine’s Guard are a group of extremists dedicated to exterminating anything on Earth that is not human. Despite being small in numbers, Constantine’s Guard are highly efficient at taking down beings much more powerful than themselves using stolen or recovered prototype technologies. Constantine’s Guard has been linked to numerous biomedical organizations over the years and it’s theorized that they may be experimenting with bioweapons to diminish the growing superhuman population.

It should be noted that the Guard's bias extends to far beyond superhumans and originates in the supernatural, primarily those possessing Witch Blood. The Guard will hunt down and destroy anything that even remotely meets their perceived definition of 'dangerous', doing so with extreme prejudice. It is not publically known how the Guard recruits new members to its ranks but it is believed they have been doing so over the past two years through weapon contracts created with both the U.S. Military and numerous local law enforcement agencies. In addition to recruitment, these contracts have been used for an underground arms race, aiming to close the gap between humans and superhumans alike.

► Hall Applied Technologies Created by Hour Error
Hall Applied Technologies is an American multinational biotechnology company based in Seattle, Washington. HAT was founded by noble prize winning geneticists Dr. George R. Hall and Dr. Samantha A. Thompson on April 4, 1995, to commercialize state-of-the-art developments in biotechnology research. Acquiring researchers and patents at an alarming rate, HAT quickly rose to international prominence, and today it remains a leader in the world of biotechnology and genetic engineering.

For the last ten years Hall Applied Technologies has been lead by Yekaterina Vasylievna Toporova, an enigmatic woman, known chiefly for her terse interactions with the media and iron-willed public persona.

Over the years, competitors and a number of former employees have accused HAT of violating ethical and legal guidelines regarding experimentation on human subjects. However as none of these claims have been substantiated, in the public eye, HAT is maintaining a positive reputation. Behind closed doors, it is all but an accepted fact that HAT is willing to cooperate with criminals, rogue government agencies, and mad scientists alike in order to further their research.

The Robotics, Arms, Cybernetics, and Kinetics division (R.A.C.K) of Hall Applied Technologies is a shadowy R&D division nestled within the deepest, and most heavily guarded quarters of company headquarters. Created in 2010, following HAT's acquisition of the Japanese technology conglomerate, Iwamoto Industries, RACK focuses on the development of machine-based rather than biological technology. Known only to the most senior corporate executives and high-level researchers is the fact that the R&D division exists primarily to help develop state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and cybernetic enhancements that can be employed in a decidedly military fashion.

▼ The Tourists Created by SepticGentleman
A widespread collection of families and friends who fancy themselves all manner of supernatural problem solvers, sanctioned by no authorities or governments. The Tourists were founded sometime in the early eighteenth century, in response to the declining reliability on Jägers as their numbers waned and waned. They have gone by many names since then, such as the Order of Wayfarers, the Good Companions, and so on. The Tourists were originally exclusively human, but some two centuries ago they began accepting non-human beings into their ranks. Nowadays, the Tourists are by far the most diverse group active on the planet in terms of species and abilities.

While the Tourists’ work is not exclusive to them, as many people prefer to strike out on their own as monster hunters and curse breakers, being counted in their roster provides access to a good number of perks and benefits. The Tourists maintain a centralized network through which resources, reinforcements, and information are delegated to those who require them. Their headquarters - a secure underground location known only as ‘the Center’ - is host to an armory, a library, training grounds, a collection of globe-crossing portals, and many other facilities.

The Tourists normally raise their members amongst themselves, but are not against taking in strangers who display both capability and cooperation. What newcomers really need to understand and accept is that the Tourists do their work not exclusively for profit (though they are not necessarily above taking the uncommon bounty or contract), but rather for the safekeeping of both the mundane public and, in parts, the supernatural public.

► Glory’s Few
Glory’s Few are a small selection of Tourists who have gone above and beyond the organization’s standard expectations, and have thus been inducted into the ranks of the elite. The Few were founded by a late Tourist of old known only as Glory, widely regarded to be the greatest Tourist who ever lived. After many years of service, Glory gave her life for the sake of the Tourists, but a single remnant of her yet remaining - her severed right hand.

Glory’s hand is considered a sacred relic amongst the Tourists and acts as the fulcrum of the Few. Her very soul resides within it and is integral in deciding who is worthy of joining her chosen elite. Each of the Few are bestowed with a fragment of Glory’s soul, enhancing their own abilities as well as their connection and coordination with one another. Even distribution means the more members there are, the less power they are granted. Her soul can only be divided so many times before it grows too weak, thus maintaining the idea of Glory’s Few rather than Glory’s Many.

6th Street Blood Cult Created by Lord Wraith
The 6th Street Blood Cult is a gang specializing in the creation and distribution of designer drugs. The trafficking of the drugs is often done in conjunction with prostitution, the prostitutes giving their clients a free hit in order to get them hooked, coupling two repeat businesses together. That all said, the price for the Blood Cult's services is quite high, given that the majority of the gang's members are also vampires. It's not uncommon for a customer to turn up deceased and completely drained of blood.

The Immortals Street Gang Created by vietmyke
A violent street gang primarily based in the Santa Celia’s East Side slums and Downtown. The Immortals dabble in the drug trade and are not afraid to use muscle when needed, their primary focus, however, is on both weapons dealing and human trafficking. They are supposedly backed by an individual or organization with deep pockets. It's unknown what their ultimate goal is, but many believe it may be raising funds or aiding in experiments to achieve immortality.

Wodan's Clan Motorcycle Club Created by Lord Wraith
A motorcycle gang that frequents Santa Celia's West Side, the Clan often comes to blows with the Blood Cult due to both groups heavily dealing in the drug trade. In addition to trafficking, the Clan also takes under the table work, often in the form of hired muscle. Violent crime tends to follow the gang where ever they go, though convictions rarely stick as their victims' cause of death is almost always found to an animal attack. This is because the Clan is predominantly made up of werewolves meaning they're the last group of bikers you want to run into under a full moon.

► Morgan Corporation Created by Star Lord
Morgan Corp was once the leading biotech company in the Midwest that had close ties with the American government. They were responsible for researching, developing and commercializing anti-allergics drugs; but, their other works are still classified to the general public. Their last work had them explore the possibility of creating life from objects with help from the government. After a year of researching and countless subject, they thought that they had finally made the perfect subject. Instead, Morgan Corp created something that they couldn't control and it escaped for one of their facilities in Wisconsin.

It managed to find someone and fused with them to form a powerful being. Even known they were being hunted, both of them managed to destroy several Morgan Corp properties and killed so many people. Eventually, they made their way to Chicago and confronted the former CEO, Tyler Morgan. Officially, an explosion from one of the labs killed the CEO and several individuals. The truth was that Morgan was brutally murdered along with several other high ranking members. After the incident, Morgan Corp was struggling to survive and filed for bankruptcy two months later.

Now, several biotech companies are looking to buy what remains of Morgan Corp.

"To you, I am Death, and I make sure that everyone is equal."
E L L A R A

Ellara Charlotte Van Abrams was born late into the evening on one fateful Wednesday in September of 1993. Like her father before her, Ellara is a Jäger; a near-human subspecies possessing an enhanced physiology that makes them ideal for tracking, hunting or killing creatures and threats of a supernatural origin. Like most Jäger, Ellara inherited her abilities through her ancestors, specifically through her father and his forefathers.

During her infant years, the young Ellara moved around from place to place as her parents, primarily her father, were on what was known to the Jäger as the 'Path'. While walking the path, the Van Abrams lived as grifters funding their trips through fraud and petty theft while the new family moved from town to town. Ellara's memories of these days are few and far between due in part both to her young age and the trauma surrounding the events of the death of her mother Sofia. The one thing she knew for certain was that her mother was murdered by something that scared even her father which prompted Jonathan Van Abrams to leave Ellara in the care of her Aunt.

This arrangement would last for several years until Ellara learned the horrible truth; death followed her no matter where she went. At the age of seventeen, her Aunt's house was broken into and Ellara's Aunt Diana was subsequently killed during the home invasion. Ellara arrived home early one morning to find Diana's body impaled in a broken piece of the banister. The police were never able to find those responsible and the death of her Aunt left Ellara's Uncle cold and distant, eventually evicting Ellara from his home to fend for herself.

Neither her biological parents or Aunt had ever taken the time to explain to Ellara what she was or how her abilities would work. Instead, Ellara grew up afraid of her own shadow as she began to see things she couldn't explain. Faces would change in front of her and a sick feeling would form in the pit of her stomach whenever she was in large crowds of people. It made Ellara prefer solitude to the company of others.

Ellara has experienced numerous vivid dreams and more commonly nightmares due to the memories of her ancestors. She is slowly beginning to understand what she had been seeing all of her life due to the new memories now in her head. Although, she realizes to explain any of this to anyone would likely end with her in a padded room.

MONSTER

Something is feeding off the people of Santa Celia. Over the past week, several victims have been found completely drain of blood, their throats ripped out. No one wants to voice the first thing that comes to mind, but the whispers at the crime scenes tell the same tale. Many believe a vampire has come to make its home in Santa Celia although the police refuse to take these claims seriously. One man is said to have survived the attack, however the attack has rendered him mute, or at least unwilling to speak. The man now resides in the Murdoch Mental Hospital while the rumors continue to swirl and at the very least a killer is still at large.

Appearance Details
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
The words 'Tall, dark and handsome' might never have been much truer for someone other than Joseph since the times of Achilles. People have asked him more than once if he's the secret child of Brad Pitt. His blond hair was once long enough to almost reach his shoulders but has recently been cut short. Joseph is known for wearing 'casual' clothes, even to his workplace where other people wear a suit or at least a sporty jacket or a collared shirt, Joe will more likely than not show up in a pair of regular fit Jeans and a V-neck T-shirt, appearing a lot less professional than his peers in the local PD, even if his accomplishments on the force speaks quite the contrary.

Joseph's looks have been drastically altered in the past three months. Most noticeable is the metallic golden hue his once hazel eyes have taken, replacing their comforting warmth with a inhuman coldness. He's got a wide and nasty looking scar reaching around his head from his
right temple back to back of his skull, separating his hair on both sides, some of his joints have been reinforced with metal.
He's got a tattoo on his right hand, a skeletal hand that reaches out onto the knuckles on the fingers. The initials K.S on his left wrist. His ears are pierced, though he does not wear jewelry in them. He has an older scar just about his heart from a bullet wound.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Joseph is a man of action, not to say that he's not one for thinking before acting - his thoughts always serve a clear goal. He doesn't spend his time contemplating something before doing it, instead jumping in head first as soon as he's examined the problem and will pull the proverbial trigger as soon as he has the shot. Not a totally irrelevant metaphor to his career and professional life.
Joe wanted to become a soldier his entire life ever since he was a kid - he was the guy who while he was good at football and basketball, had good grades and his pick of colleges when he graduated High School, he still relished being on hall monitor duty.

Joseph signed up to join the military as soon as he had graduated and was put through basic training for the army, he immediately distinguished himself as a sharpshooter. He was sent off to the sandbox for two months before returning home without having been put onto any real assignments, and he was put into the reserve forces. Frustrated with the military, he pursued the closest thing and joined the police academy. He spent three years in SWAT as a sharpshooter, but even after getting shot on duty he was back at his job as soon as he was able to get out of the hospital bed.

That's all to say that Joseph Dark is a man who stands by what he believes, and he's more than willing to fight for it, somtimes too much, as this was perhaps the biggest reason for his short marriage with Karen Summers. Joe's made out of a stronger moral fiber than most of the Santa Celia police and has been one to actively work against the corruption that plagues the ranks of the PD. Going as far as to arrest his partner after it was revealed to him that David was on the Mob's take.

Joseph's an individual with many layers, at first glance he's a renegade cop who only cares about getting bad guys - not following the rules, who believes the ends justifies the means. But on the other hand, he's a man who's favorite kind of literature is poetry, his favorite writer's Bob Dylan and his favorite movie's a romantic comedy starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen. He spends his off time painting, watching cartoons and eating strawberry ice cream whenever he can.

Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
There is a certain truth to the idea that nobody who comes from a happy home wants to join the military, and it holds true for Joseph, too. His mother was of Ecuadorian descent, his father off Italian from the east-coast. His paternal grandparents had moved to the states after the war, his father Vito, was the youngest of five siblings with quite the age difference between him and his siblings.
His father was a jazz musician and his mother, Maria, was a nurse. He was raised catholic, all though he quickly realized once he started coming into adolescent that he didn't actually believe in God, and even less so in the teachings the Father would preach to him and his family.

Him voicing this to his father started to tear a bit of a rift between the two, furthered by his father's absence due to working at many clubs and constantly being 'one gig away from making it big' and whenever Vito was home he was in a bad mood and often drunk. Maria worked many hours at the local hospital. It wasn't till Joseph was 11 or so that his father became physically abusive - it started one saturday night at dinner when Joseph told him that he didn't want to go to church. He didn't "want to waste his time listening to some senile old man babbling on about his imaginary friend". This earned him at first a slap from his father and cursing in Italian. But once his mother stepped in to protect him, his father lost his temple, and Joseph got his face dunked against the kitchen table knocking out his last milk tooth.

The beatings where irregular, but still consistent. Whenever Vito got in a bad mood and Maria wasn't home, Joseph would get hit - and the older he got and the worse paying gigs Vito got, the more severe the beatings got. Joseph had a pretty normal schooling, despite this. He spent a lot of his time away from his family because of his father's abuse and his mother's turning a blind eye to it. Spending most of his time at various extra circulars, such as football, basketball and even theater.

Joseph left home as soon as he graduated high school, signing up to join the military where he was trained to be a sharpshooter. He was deployed for only three months before being sent home. 'The war was over'. So he had to find another war, one on the home front. He attended police academy while studying a two year degree in criminal science. He graduated with good grades and joined the police force as a beat cop, but due to his training he didn't spend more than a few weeks on patrol before he was assigned to special forces, the SWAT.

He spent four years on the SWAT till he was 26 years old, working primarily in the Los Angeles area, being a part of some drug related busts and several sieges on the Santa Celia - Mafia. He got shot by a perp their recon hadn't spotted, a 15 year old with a world war 2-era pistol. The kid never made his way down the stairs from the room the sharpshooter had been shot in before he was full of lead from the other Swat members.

Joseph recovered from his injury rather quickly and had no issues getting back into the field - but he wanted to a change. He didn't want to be the soldier anymore who shot who he was told to shoot. He wanted to be a detective. Said and done, he was transfered into the Santa Celia police department into Homicide Division and would spend the past few years solving murders, focusing his efforts on the Santa Celia Mafia, a choice that lead him to his demise.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Enchanted Cyborg Of Hell | Joseph is a man with a pact. He's the tether of the Archdemon Mephisto, he's the combination of the darkest of magics and the most experimental of science. His body is technically aided by an army of nanites rebuilding him, making him stronger. He's armed with several cybernetic implants that are supposed to save his life. But his body's the house of two souls. The mortal and the demon. Mephisto manipulated the good doctor into finding Joseph and saving his life was but the most notable of his many tricks. Joseph is now the wielder of an incredibly powerful source of magic, the soul of Mephisto.

Cybernetic Augmentation:
Joseph lost his left hand when he was murdered. His severe beating also ruined several of his joints that had to be replaced artificially. Joseph's armed with state of the art, highly experimental and military grade prosthetics. He's got prosthetics in his elbows and knees, as well as ankles and his right wrist, connecting the robotic hand to his arm. He's got reinforced plates in his chest. This, combined with the nanites that are improving his natural healing makes him stronger than he used to be, stronger than any human. His robotic hand is bulletproof and highly resistant to fire, acid and water. His brain has also been 'upgraded' with microchips that allow him the specialized computing power of a supercomputer, improving his real time calculus, essentially improving his reaction speed and hand to eye coordination.

Magic:
Joseph is not a sorcerer, he's not a wizard and he's not even an acolyte of the occult. Hell, he barely believes it exist and he's got it living inside of him. But Joseph is the host of one of the most powerful demons in existence and that symbiosis doesn't come without it's perks. Magic requires energy, and Joseph is sitting on a massive powerbank that he just needs to figure out how to use. Mephisto's both a near infinite source of energy, he's also more than willing to teach Joseph how to use the magic he's housing. Of course, no such power comes without a price.

Limitation(s) | Joseph isn't a Superman. He's an Enhanced Individual, he's certainly outperforming a regular human, but even though he could beat any human in a arm-wrestling contest, doesn't mean that he'd be able to beat them in a combat scenario. Tactics and training could certainly give someone the edge over the Demon Cyborg.

Joseph's a righteous man who's fighting with a demon for his eternal soul while struggling with the idea that he's becoming more machine than human.

Weakness(es) | Joseph's been shot in the head and hung on the edge between living and dead and when he came back, he brought a lot of baggage with him. Nobody gets to beat death without earning a few scars. He's angry, confused and scared and hasn't adjusted to his new life at all. Playing Mephisto against Joseph, and the inverse is highly exploitable and their symbiotic relationship is suseptible to outside abuse. That is, if they aren't already squabbling.

//Skills:
Martial Arts | Boxing, Judo and Wrestling are all things he's gotten official training in since he was a teenager. He also trained MMA at the police academy and while he was with the SWAT. He's a formidable fighter and more than capable of holding his own when push comes to shove.

Marksmanship | Joseph is an excellent shot with a firearm, he prefers a high caliber rifle and a scope, but he's accomplished with a handgun or assault rifle, too. His longshot ability has been future enhanced thanks to his cybernetic upgrade.

Ambidextrous | Joseph is technically left handed, but his father made sure he'd know how to use both hands for everything. It's been further enhanced in his combat training and further reinforced thanks to his now much stronger right hand than left.

Acting | Joe's a theater nerd. He played Hamlet in high school and has done a few amateur plays in his adult life. It helps him cool off after a long day and lets him relax.

Appearance Details

With a bean-pole figure of 6 foot and 1 inch, one will almost always be immediately repulsed or disgusted by Mo when they first come into contact with him. Mo has the appearance of a skinny leech, reeking to high hell of overnight caffeine fugues of artistic fervor combined with pallid overgrown hairy skin. One evident thing that one will notice about Moses immediately is the fact that he is stained with artistic materials. Graphite dust etched into his skin from hours of sketching. Bits of dried paint underneath his fingernails. A blot of ink underneath his chin.

Mo's face is undecipherable, scrunched eyebrows that are lost in thought and a glazed visage that shifts between the realm of reality and dreams. His mouth and facial expression are constantly irractic and shifting, almost as if he's conversing with someone else in his mind. His dark lidded grey eyes are constantly in a bloodshot state of frustration with baggy under-lids that are threatening to drop off his face at any moment. His face bears a lightly shaven moustache complimented with rows of splotchy acne scars permanently branding his cheeks and nose. His wild bush of dark-brown hair is uncombed and knot with splatters of paint and chalk dust dug into the very roots.

Moses skeletal appearance belies a lithe physicality that is marked with legacies of a misspent youth, with puckered knees, weathered elbows and faded bruises aplenty. He has a slight hunch in his shoulders, bending him slightly forwards even when standing or sitting still. His thin arms dangle precariously off his shoulders, hands always gravitating towards his pockets to reach for a pencil and paper to draw on. Aside from this, Moses has one single ink tattoo on his right forearm.

For casual wear, Mo prefers street-wear such as rain-jackets, bomber jackets and jumpers that always come with a hood alongside a pair of worn out sneakers or sport shoes. When he’s painting the streets, Mo wears a strappable gas mask underneath a red bandanna and scarf to conceal himself along with a set of paint-stained foreman gloves.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Mo is a man who's seen it all and more who has become emotionally numbed in response to supernatural phenomena. Whenever something strange or out of the ordinary happens around him, he is often non-plussed and works with the situation as best as he can. Mo can always be expected to be a calm and nonchalant individual who is undoubtedly reserved, usually resorting to succinct or blunt responses during normal day to day conversations with strangers and doesn't engage in bouts of sentimentalism or overt emotional exuberance. On the contrary, he's more interested in doodling rather than conversing, often taking every opportunity during conversation to draw something or someone.

Mo's lack of sociability is often affected by the fact that there are a constant retinue of dead talking Artistonancer's in his head that are incapable of shutting up, often leading to sudden impulsive bouts of frustration and shouting at seemingly no one. He treats his fellow dead Artistonancers with almost no semblance of respect and views them as more of a liability and annoyance rather than a source of help ever since the incident. Needless, Mo has an difficult relationship with the ghosts of former Artistonancer's that haunt him on a daily basis that range from sarcastic barbs to hostile expletive-filled death matches.

In spite of his rather cold demeanor, Mo has the soul of an artist and expresses most of his emotions in his art, using it as an outlet for his repressed emotions and as a method for calming the voices in his head down. The very act of art for Mo is cathartic. He is completely enraptured with enthusiasm when dug deep into his work and will never refuse an offer to do a commission for a stranger, barring extreme circumstances. However, any criticism of his artistic ability is seen to him as a challenge that he has to respond to in kind. Heavens help you if you insult graffiti as an art form in any way possible.

Mo has always had a pathological distrust of authority figures, holding a contemptuous view of them as a massive conglomerate of high-horsed people with ulterior agendas. This usually leads to Moses being more likely to disobey orders from a source of authority or to actively act against them if there is enough evidence to support his suspicion. However, in rare cases, he is willing to interact and cooperate with them on good faith if they give him enough reasons to do so.

In terms of his ethical integrity, Mo is often apprehensive of moral situations and approaches them with trepidation, often going as far to trying to avoid the call to altruism. However, despite his best efforts, Mo will ultimately, in the end, help those in trouble, especially people of lower socio-economic background despite him believing internally that he's doing this for his own self-gain.

However, intrinsically, Mo is a person who desires an ordinary life as a street artist rather than being stuck with the mantle of an Artistonancer after his last experience with the supernatural. He is both afraid and daunted of the nature and legacy of his supernatural abilities, often leading to conflict between him and the retinue of long dead Artistonancers that take refuge in his mind. Being one of the last order leaves a heavy burden on Mo's soul as he knows that with every choice that he makes, Artistonancy either becomes preserved or extinct. Therefore, this leads to a conundrum where Mo is afraid of acknowledging the existence of his powers and actively takes steps to prevent himself from using his abilities as best as he can. Right and wrong, good and bad, all of that doesn't matter to Mo when he's trying to live as a normal guy who tags buildings left and right. Deep inside his mind, Mo knows that his life as an street artist can't last forever as the world becomes more stranger and yet, he continues to fight against his destiny.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Born to a middle-class suburban family in the center of San Francisco, Moses ‘Mo’ Muller lived a sheltered life under the constant eye of his mother and father who were grooming their children to take over the reigns of Muller and Associates, one of the top premier accounting firms within San Francisco. Whilst the rest of the Muller children were willing to fufill the wishes of their father and mother, Moses was the proverbial black sheep of a family, wanting to escape from under the nose of his family. Ever since he was young, Moses was attracted to the arts ever since he first drew a little stick figure of a butterfly he saw in the backyard. His parents first wrote it off as a minor ‘hobby’ and that he would soon see the error of his ways. He didn’t. Much to their horror and Mo’s confusion, Mo continued to become more ambitious and daring in his artistic ventures, signing up for extra-curricular art activities and generally raising a middle finger to his family’s wishes.

It soon became worse when Mo’s family visited an charity art exhibition out of necessity, causing Mo to come back to his home later, claiming that he was hearing voices in his head. Five to be specific. Voices of adult men and adult women, painters, from the Renaissance, from the Cold War, famous artists of yore.

That was the last straw.

One day, without any warning whatsoever, at the age of 13, Mo’s parents made him pack his bags and sent him to his uncle, Gerald Muller, who was an art professor in Arido Art College, informally disowning him and refusing to recognise him as their son. Gerald Muller recognised Mo’s almost innate talents in the visual arts and immediately made him his protege, teaching him the foundation of the arts. Eventually, Gerald took a wager and betted on it after several nights of indecision. He took out one of Mo’s paintings, a black and white striped apple, and asked him jokingly to try and take the apple out. Mo managed to do it on his first try. After that incident, Gerald revealed that he was one of the last curators of an ancient art of magic of ‘Artistonancy’ and the history of their family. That Mo was what Aristonancers would call an 'Avant-Garde', a practitioner who would decide the fate of the study by himself and himself alone.

After celebrating with his first shot of whiskey (at an illegal age at that), Gerald had been unknowingly training him to become better in the art of Artistonancy in order for one single goal.

To resurrect his dead wife. Mo's aunt.

The process seemed successful. For a few brief seconds, the professor had his wife back. Before the screaming began and his blood began to splatter on the walls. Instead of making a successful replica of his own dead wife, Mo accidentally gave birth to an horrific abomination made of writhing flesh, splattered oil and twisted shape. A distortion. Mo was knocked out by a blow that left his mind in a tumble of broken memories. The next thing he knew, he was being interrogated by detectives in Saint Celia National Hospital, demanding to know what had happened. Why was half of the campus destroyed in pieces? Was it the work of an terrorist organisation? Was it a gas leak?

They wouldn’t even believe him if he told the real answer. Mo was soon admitted to the hospital and was lost and adrift, with only the voices in the head to guide him and - Fuck that. The voices were responsible for this. Artistonancy was a curse. It had birthed that….thing. That monstrosity. It was dangerous. No, he was dangerous. Soon after his uncle’s funeral, Mo approached the ruins of the campus, ducking underneath a border of security tape, to secure his uncle’s books on Artistonancy. The last remaining books of a once thriving order. Centuries worth of knowledge that he hadn’t even tapped into yet.

He burnt them one by one, not even stopping to take a peek at the pages, and threw them into the ocean, no matter how much the voices told him to stop.

After a few days of argument and dissent, the murals stopped communicating with him. For years in fact.

A few years later, Mo’s still trying to move past the incident by working as a job as a legal street artist in the inner city of Saint Celia. As he realised the increasing levels of crime and violence within the city he loved, he tried to do something good for the city as the muck and scum of crime rose, accepting jobs to paint memorials of dead victims, tags that criticised the local gangs that preyed on the innocent and tried to cast color into a city that was quickly losing it. His paintings made people weep. Cry. Laugh. It gave them hope. For once, he was proving the murals wrong. That he didn’t need to be an Artistonancer to make the world right. As storms darken on the horizon of Rook Bridge, Mo only hopes that he can hold onto his dreams for a little while longer.......

//Abiliites:

Artistonancy | Artistonancy is a branch of magic that involves the use of artistic mediums as the main source of an practitioner's power by ‘drawing’ magical objects otherwise known as trinkets out of the artistic medium. Artistonancy was once effectively known as a 'poor man’s' magic in the inner circles of the magical community in the 15th century, effectively on the verge of extinction due to the hubris of its practitioners, believing they could overcome its rules. Every practitioner of Aristonancy has either accidentally killed themselves from their creations or gone insane from the accumulation of murals in their head. Ironically, Artistonancy has managed to out-live other magical arts that were once wide-spread throughout the world, although, its survival rests in the hands of one ordinary Californian.

Mo is one of the last remaining Artistonancers on Earth, specialising in using painted mediums as his source of magical power. The type of trinket drawn out can either have mundane qualities or supernatural qualities that can give boons to the user. The degree to which the object is supernatural depends on the materials used to create the object, the style of art, the aesthetic characteristics and much, much more. Mo has been out of practice since he found out his talents in Artistonancy 4 years ago but he still remembers the bare basics.

Artistonancy mainly involves two concepts: visualization and materialization of the object in question. Visualization requires clearing the mind of any distractions and focusing on the object that the practitioner wants to ‘draw’ out of a medium. Different types of paintings vary the difficulty and extent of visualization that a user must be involved in. A single image or a picture of an trinket restricts visualization but makes it extremely easier to focus. A more complex painting composed of multiple images gives a measure of freedom and leeway to the user to visualize whatever trinket that they want. Materialization involves the practitioner touching the visual medium and physically pulling the object out. The difficulty of materialization and the time it takes depends on the size of the object. Larger trinkets require Artistonancers to request the help of other people in order to fully materialize the object.

Mural Transferal | The soul of an Aristonancer continues to live in their art, even after they have passed away. When an Artistonancer dies, part of their spirit lays trapped and remains in their painting, sustained by the mere belief and awareness of their creations by the world, becoming what is known as a mural. If a Aristonancer's work becomes culturally insignificant over time, the remaining part of their soul will begin to degrade until they are no more. If it's not the case, then, a living Artistonancer can bring them back to life, allowing their conscious to inhabit their mind and voluntarily link them to their soul. Murals are independetly living spirits that are tied to the conscious mind of an Artistonancer. A mural is a source of invaluable information and experience for any Artistonancer and serve a secondary use of shielding their mind from mental or psychic attacks. The more murals that an Artistonancer accumulates, the increasing likelihood that they will begin to exhibit symptoms of sociopathy and psychopathy which will then develop into full-blown insanity. The recommended limit for accumulation of murals is a total of 8 voices.

Limitation(s) | Laws of Artistonancy

Artistonancy is a multi-faceted area of magic that has many nuances and limitations that even most Artistonancer's are not aware of. Due to burning Gerald's last collection of Artistonancy lore and by extension, his relationships with the murals in his head, Mo is currently aware of only 3 laws within Artistonancy that he has learnt thus far. With further communication with the murals in his head and more testing, he may soon grow to be aware of other laws.

Law of Dimensions:Artistonancer’s are unable to draw out trinkets that are larger than the dimensions of the visual medium itself without severely injuring themselves or causing a rupture. A ‘rupture’ is known as a backlash of magical energy that can rebound upon the caster, causing either severe mutations related to the visual medium or in extreme cases, death. Along with this, Artistonancer’s are restricted to only using their magic on one dimension only and not multiple dimensions. Therefore, Mo can only draw trinkets out of two-dimensional visual mediums and not three-dimensional visual mediums such as origami, sculptures, pottery or statues.

Law of Belonging:Artistonancer’s are only able to draw trinkets out of art that they have created by themselves only, finding themselves unable to draw out trinkets out of art created by other people. Attempting to draw trinkets out of artistic objects not created by the caster doesn’t have any severe repercussions, merely just a sense of disappointment, unlike the law below.

Law of Life:It is said that past or ancient aristonancers managed to master crafting life out of art itself. However, the practice of vivification, as it is called, has been lost in the annals of history. Attempting to create an sentient being out of an artwork will always almost result in the formation of a distortion. Plants and fungi are the exception to the rule but even attempting to take out any living being that can express intelligent behaviour is going to distort immedietely. Distortions are extremely dangerous sentient beings created by an Aristonancer that are a facsimile of life itself ranging from eldritch abominations to mere shadows of a person. Distortions are insane and can’t be reasoned with, operating on a single minded obsession that may vary from benign to dangerous.

Law of Energy Artistonancy is meant to be a poor man's form of magic, harnessing creativity as a quick-fix to perform the most complex of spells. However, over-use of Aritistonancy over a short period of time can severely fatigue the user depending on how experienced they are. This is known as a debt. Over-time, a Aristonancer can build up a resistance to accumulation of these debts, similar to how one exercises their muscles. However, without continual practice, an Artistonancer is sure to run out of energy after creating a few trinkets.

Weaknesses | Whilst Mo’s artistonancy is particularly versatile and grants him several boons, there are several weaknesses that one can capitalise on with enough observation. One of Aristonancy’s main weaknesses is the concept of Iconoclasm, or rather the inherent weakness of a trinkets that may cause it to degrade over time, depending on the quality and nature of the materials used. As Mo’s trinkets are mainly derived from chalk and paint, a combination of water or chemical solvents can dissolve or destroy Moses’s constructs on contact, even constructs that are meant to be defensive in nature. Whilst a mere drop of water won’t carve through Moses constructs, a downpour of rain or a gout of water from a firehose could potentially wash away everything.

Other than this, the main source of a Aristonancer’s power is also their crippling flaw. As long as one prevents Mo’s away from an available supply of paint and chalk, Mo could be easily mistaken for a simple ordinary individual with no outward superhuman characteristics whatsoever. Easy pickings for any one with a bare minimum of professional training.

As the majority of Mo’s Aristonancy relies on touch in order to begin drawing the trinket out of the visual medium, breaking Mo’s hand or simply crippling them beyond use is a valid tactic that any opponent could use to remove the use of his powers.

//Skills:
Painter | Mo is an accomplished career painter who is adaptable with a myriad of visual mediums and has a knack for combining both realistic detail and surrealist imagery in a fitting blend with one another. His creativity and imagination are boundless whenever he’s holding a brush, a pencil, a marker or a can in his hand. His preferred mediums for painting are chalk, spray paint and pencil, although, he does have experience with other mediums such as oil and water-color in acquiescence of the voices in his head.

Parkour | Mo is mostly adept at the art of parkour, a childhood of rebellion in the inner city being responsible for him picking up the skill in the first place. Whilst not possessing as much finesse or brute endurance compared to other free-runners, Mo’s technical skills have never diminished throughout his age. Mo is able to maneuver through the concrete jungles of Santa Celia with ease, confidently leaping off roof-tops and vaulting over fences without catching his breath. Mo mainly uses his parkour skills to access the perfect canvas for his art or to mainly escape from the menagerie of authorities and gangsters that are on a constant chase after him.

Sarah stands a head taller than most women, with a nimble build, supported by hard-won cords of muscle that are only apparent upon a close examination of her frame. She has curly, dark brown hair that doesn't quite reach to her shoulders, and honey colored skin spotted with faint freckles. The irises of her eyes are cast a shade of pale yellow, and she has the sharp, unwavering gaze of a bird of prey. Most notably Sarah sports a pair of majestic, feathery wings. Dark brown in plumage, her wings are streaked with shades of gray and gold.

She moves with the gracefulness of a predatory creature. Her movements are powerful, efficient, and inhumanely quiet.

The young woman is modest dresser, favoring black jeans, simple-hued t-shirts, canvas sneakers. and plain sweaters. To hide her wings as much as possible, Sarah dons large coats. Her favorite is a vintage great coat of clearly Russian make.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔

Sarah is a dedicated, bordering on obsessive vigilante. She is good-hearted and brave, but never brash. Her natural inclination is to aid those who need help, especially those that she perceives as weak or helpless. Fiercely independent, she can be stubborn, and is slow to change her ways or her opinions about others. While Sarah believes that trying to apprehend a criminal alive is all well and good, she has no trouble admitting that sometimes a more permanent solution is warranted.

Always focused and thoughtful, following the manifestation of her powers, Sarah has come to possess a predatory patience. She has become a a master of stalk-and-ambush tactics, striking when her foes least expect it. Sarah sees herself as a hunter of villainy, and she tends to show little remorse for the opponents she ruthlessly dispatches in the course of her new career as a vigilante.

While still nominally human, Sarah has begun to feel increasingly inhuman. There is a wilderness growing in her heart, a wild fury, that she struggles to contain. She has begun to relish in the hunt, occasionally forgetting that it is humans, though criminals, and not animals that she is hunting. Her wings, inhuman as they are, have made it hard for her to pass for a normal human and have further isolated her.

Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔

Early Life:

Sarah Avery Wong was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 1st, 1993. Her father, James Wong, was a former amateur boxer turned electrician. Her mother, Alisa Wong, was a high school teacher, with a penchant for knitting. Growing up in a working class family, Sarah had a distinctly unremarkable childhood.

In her adolescence, Wong excelled athletically and academically, eventually earning a scholarship to Boston University, where she pursued a degree in sociology. A promising career with the Boston Police Department followed soon after her graduation.

Graduating with flying colors from the police academy, Sarah quickly established herself as a competent police officer, racking up an impressive arrest count. She seemed poised to make detective at a record age when tragedy struck a year and a half later. Following a bout of fainting episodes and increasing loss of voluntary motor control, Sarah was put on sick leave. Eventually, she was diagnosed with a mysterious, and rapidly progressing genetic disorder.

Meeting HAT:
Told by her doctors that the disorder was likely terminal, Sarah resigned from the BPD, and relocated to sunny Santa Celia, California, where she expected to end her days.

Languishing in the her hospital bed, struggling just to breathe, Sarah was approached by representative from Hall Applied Technologies, who were looking for candidates for an experimental and likely risky series of medical treatments. They offered her a chance, a cure, and the potential to become so much more. With no other options, Sarah signed over her life to HAT, and volunteered for the ominously named Project Chimera.

A Fledgling Eagle:
For Sarah, Project Chimera began with a bang or rather her own screaming. The scientists at HAT had never promised that the process of curing her would be painless. A warning would have been nice. Or painkillers. All of them.

Months, painful months, of genetic manipulation and biological augmentation followed. At the hands of the HAT scientists, Sarah's very genetic code was altered. She received muscle grafts, bone laces, and even had vital organs replaced. She could feel herself changing. She could feel the strange things that were growing on her back, but she couldn't see them. They had taken away her mirror. The scientists were delighted by her progress, and soon declared her fully cured.

Amidst the handshakes and congratulatory shoulder slaps between the team of scientists, she asked the scientists when she could go home. Soon they cold replied, soon, but first there were some more tests they had to perform.

A Bird of Prey:
Sarah remains unsure of how exactly she escaped. Muddled memories are all that she remembers. The blaring sound of alarm klaxons, screaming, not her own for once, and fire, so much fire. She waited, but no one, not even the HAT scientists came after her. Wandering the streets darkened streets of Saint Celia in her hospital gown, Sarah felt lost.

She felt lost until she stumbled upon a robbery, a simple snatch and grab. She knew then what her purpose was. She remembered. She was a predator.

She was a hunter of criminals.

A bird of prey.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abilities:

Flight | Sarah possess a powerful pair of wings that allow her to fly at great speeds. Although she has yet to try, it is likely that she could carry a person or object roughly her own size and still manage to fly.

Limitation(s) | A typical, unhurried soaring speed for Sarah is around 28-32 mph. When hunting, Sarah often glides very fast, reaching speeds up to 120 mph. When diving after her prey, Sara can reach speeds up to 200 mph.

Super-Acute Vision | Courtesy of HAT, Sarah has received a new set of replacement eyes, vat-grown and specially designed to incorporate structural modifications that enhance vision range and detail. Resembling the eyes of eagle, they allow to spot her pray from miles away. The HAT scientists also stimulated the growth of a clear protective membrane covering her eyes, similar to the nictitating membrane possessed by many animals. This inner eyelid protects her eyes, keeping out sand, girt, smoke, and other irritants. The membranes are light sensitive and become tinted under bright light. Further, they are polarized to reduce glare.

Limitation(s) | Sarah's eyes, though far more powerful than that of a human are still biological eyes, with all the limitations inherent to such organs.

Superhuman Strength and Durability | Sarah possess a superhuman level of strength and durability. Using a biological weaving treatment, special vat-grown muscle cables are braided into existing muscle fibers, enhancing the muscle mass and performance of Sarah's muscles. Further, her muscles have been toned, vat-grown elastic muscle fibers have been incorporated into existing muscle tissue, increasing muscle tension and flexibility. Making Sarah quicker and far more limber than she was before. Superhuman strength without superhuman durability is a quick way to break bones and tear muscles, and Sarah's muscoskeletal structure has been greatly enhanced to prevent injury.

Limitation(s) | Sarah is able to lift objects around one ton in weight. She can take a punch, a very strong punch, but bullets or sharp objects are likely to hurt her.

Weakness(es) | Coming soon.

//Skills:
Trained Police Officer | A trained police officer, Sarah has received training in the use of firearms, hand-to-hand combat, and police procedure.
Amateur Ornithologist | Since early childhood, Sarah has been obsessed with birds, and birdwatching remains one of her favorite hobbies.
Pugilist | Sarah's father was a lifelong student of the sweet science and an accomplished amateur boxer before an untimely injury ended his career. As a result, he went to great pains to ensure that his daughter could throw a punch, and Sarah still fondly remembers watching old tapes of the greats fighting with her father.
Licensed Sail Plane Pilot | Before her powers manifested, Sarah was a dedicated sail plane pilot, and spent many of her weekends at the Albany Aeroplane Club.
Languages | In addition to English, Sarah is fluent in Spanish and Mandarin.

Nicole is very small, and is often mistaken for someone much younger than she is. She tries to compensate for her youthful appearance by wearing her hair in a bun, using glasses instead of contacts, and wearing bulky clothing like sweaters and scarves. She wears only light makeup, if any at all, and has no tattoos or piercings. Her slender figure and small stature lead many to refer to her as 'cute', though she insists she is mearly average.

Personality

On the surface, Nicole is very bubbly and cheerful, bordering on airheaded. She greets everyone with a smile or motherly concern, whichever is waranted, and always has time to listen to someone talk about their day. Behind closed doors, however, Nicole tends to focus on her own failings, percieved or real, and slowly loses any desire to do things. Left alone for long enough, Nicole will become less and less active, eventually performing only the neccessary day-to-day tasks she must. Lately, this has become less of a problem as she has a store to run and customers to see to, but occasionally her old habits resurface.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Nicole was born in Santa Celia, where her parents ran a small coffee shop that had just enough regulars to keep the doors open. She lived a fairly idylic life, helping her parents out in the shop when she could and spending time with her friends or at school. She discovered she had powers when she was 14, when she was fussing over a frayed seam on one of her shirts and managed to accidentally unravel the whole thing, then managed to get herself completely tangled in the resulting pile of thread. It took her parents two hours to rescue her, durring which there was an inevitable panic, then a conversation about how this had happened and finally a caution from her parents to keep herself safe and not get herself in trouble. From then on she experimented with her powers in secret, managing to make it to the end of high school without any major issues. Just as she began college, however, news stories began to circulate about people with extraordinary abilities alternately committing and stopping crimes. By the end of her second year, Nicole decided she was tired of keeping her abilities secret, and moved back home to take over her family store, adding her own touch to the business by opening a specialty clothing store, where she could sell clothing with a bit of extra function or, for a higher price, certain specialty orders. After all, she reasoned, if there are going to be superheroes, somebody is going to have to make their suits.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Thread/Cloth Control | Nicole has full control over the movement of thread in her vicinity. She can move it precisely enough that she can weave thread into high quality cloth, and can extend her awareness into the thread to manipulate it on a much finer level than modern machinery.

Fabric Modification | Nicole can imbue thread and cloth with special properties, from extra durability or fire resistance to glowing or color-changing. This process takes more time and energy than simply manipulating the cloth.

Limitation(s) | Nicole's Thread Control is very short range, only extending about five feet from her body. Moving thread with any precision requires focus, almost to the point of trance, so anything more than broad movment is dificult outside of a controled environment. Changing the properties of cloth takes even more focus, and leaves her weak after any serious work.

Weakness(es) | Nicole has very low combat ability. Physically she is below average for a normal human, and her powers have almost no direct combat application.

//Skills:
Clothes Making | Nicole is very skilled at making clothing using her power. The variety and quality of her work is on par with some major clothing manufacturers.

Bilingual | Nicole learned American Sign Language in college.

Cooking | Nicole spent most of her early life learning to cook and work in a kitchen helping out her parents.

Standing at 5'8", Eli's slender frame is highlighted by her long legs. Her skin is a warm ivory tone and soft sunspots dot her shoulders, arms, and legs. Her medium-length, tousled hair is a chocolate brown with subtle highlights due to her time in the sun. She is normally seen with a blank face yet her bright, bluish-green eyes observe everything. When she genuinely smiles, two dimples appear in her cheeks and thin lines form around her eyes. She doesn't put a lot of effort into her makeup, simply wearing concealer to hide the bags under her eyes, mascara, and a thin, smokey eyeliner to enhance her eyes.

Eli's sense of style is marked by quirky, chic ensembles ranging between comfy casual and trendy new looks. One day she'll wear a t-shirt or sweater with skinny jeans and converse; the next day she'll be in stylish pants and an intricate top. It all depends on what she has planned for the day and what side of the bed she wakes up on. She sticks to neutral colours, occasionally wearing one color that pops. The only jewelry she prefers are minimalist earrings and necklaces.

Small tattoos dot her arms: a moon and line on her left arm, and an art piece on her right forearm.

As Vertigo, Eli dons an all black ensemble that is tight to her frame so she can be fast and nimble. Her hair is straightened and loose around her shoulders. To hide her identity, she wears various lace masks that obscure her upper face and long sleeves to hide her tattoos.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Eli identifies as an ISFP (Introverted, sensing, feeling, perceiving). As Eli grew up she learned to appreciate being independent. While she enjoys the company of others, her happiest moments are spent by herself. During the day she enjoys walking about the city and taking in the sights. She especially loves discovering new coffee shops and restaurants with great food. In fact, she knows the best places to go for any type of craving. She even knows the best bars in her area. In fact, on the nights she doesn't don the lace mask she can be found at one of those bars or out having late night snacks.

When someone first meets Eli, they notice that she is at first quiet, unassuming, and hard to get to know. However, once the initial wall is removed Eli is warm, friendly, and eager to experience as much as possible with their new friend by their side. She tends to avoid the spotlight, preferring to sit peacefully on the sidelines until she has something to say. She carefully observes the actions of those around her and compares their perceptions to her own, always trying to understand the world around her. She is normally the type to compromise, and avoids conflict as much as possible. This said, Eli still has the fierceness of a protector. She will stand up for anyone that needs it, and it is wise to stay out of her way when she gets this way. If her friends ever need her, she will always step in with quiet, unassuming assistance. She is certainly the type to put other's needs before her own. This sometimes causes trouble in her personal life, and she can easily feel overwhelmed when she puts her own needs aside for too long. Occasionally this can cause periods where Eli is unreachable as she takes some time to herself, but she understands that in order to help others she must help herself first. As soon as she is recharged, she's ready to start right back where she left off.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Eli was born in the Árido Valley to a single, twenty-something mother who had no clue who her father was. The two lived in a small house thirty minutes from Santa Celia and a short drive to the Tlaloc Falls. During the week Eli lived a lonely existence while her mother worked long hours. When school let out she'd spend time with her neighbourhood friends until they had to go home for dinner, and then let herself into the house to eat a bowl of cereal until her mom came home. She was happiest on the weekend, when her mother took her on hikes around the waterfall and road trips into the city. They had a strong bond and were inseparable until Eli reached the age of ten. Soon after school ended, her mother found a man that could potentially take all of their money-worries away. She began to spend more time with this man, and Eli could tell that this would become a permanent problem.

It was during this time that Eli's abilities began to appear. She began to have small outbursts at school, her pent up frustration erupting into small fights with bullies. The first time she ever used her power was on a boy named Dillon Bolt, a bulky bully and borderline sociopath. As he towered over a younger child at recess, Eli confronted him with a fierce blow to the cheek. Normally a hit from a small girl wouldn't phase anyone, but as Dillon Bolt fell to the ground screaming bloody murder Eli knew something had changed. As she sat in the principle's office, she couldn't help but remember that she had wished she could hit him hard enough to knock him off his feet.

These disruptions lasted until seventh grade. There would always be a bully, and Eli would stand up for their victims every chance she could. Unfortunately these acts of heroism did nothing to convince her mother that she hadn't done anything wrong. It only drove a larger wedge between them. In no time at all, her mother announced that she was going to marry the man that had ruined Eli's happiness. They'd be moving into his home in Santa Celia in the next week. No matter how much her mother tried to convince her that this would be a good change, Eli would always resent her step-father.

Over the next few years Eli would start a new school, be named Eli Collins after her step-father, and remain an outcast in the inner city school. She didn't mind being lonely now. It gave her time to figure out what was going on with her mind, discovering new tricks she could play on other's minds. It was in AP psychology that she learned the meaning of sensation and perception and finally figured out exactly what she could do with this power. In that moment, she decided to pursue a career in psychology.

After graduating from high school Eli announced that she would be going to the local community college. She also wished to live on her own. She was prepared to support herself, but her mother had been saving for her college since she was born. It was even enough to cover half a years worth of rent. Eli soon found her own place, right in the heart of the city, and began to attend school. She found a job at a small boutique to earn spending money. Throughout this time she began using her ability less and less, almost forgetting about it's existence. Contact with her mother was made through weekly lunch visits, and their relationship began to grow once more.

In 2017, Eli was walking home after closing the shop to find two men surrounding a woman in an alley. She had just been about to call the police when the ringleader reminded her of Dillon Bolt. She hung up her phone and walked straight into the fray. After a quick bout of threats from the men, Eli managed to take them both down by simply tapping them on the forehead. She'd successfully saved her first citizen. The thrill of saving this one life filled her heart with the same feeling she had experienced at school those many years ago. She quit her job and found an internship during the day as a psychologist's assistant. She began to take long nightly walks just to run into trouble. Her ability slowly grew each time she helped someone and soon she could easily produce auditory, visual, and physical illusions. Just recently Eli began to don a lace mask and black clothes, intentionally going out at night to fulfill her role as protector of the weak: Vertigo.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Ability:
Sensation/Perception Manipulation | With every second, our brains are receiving stimuli for sensations such as sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Those sensations are then sent to the brain, where the mind processes these sensations and determines how they will be perceived. Every sensation must pass a threshold limit in order for the mind to notice it. Eli's ability allows her to access these sensations and manipulate the threshold limit for those stimuli by either raising or lowering it. She could lower the threshold of someone with a paper cut to feel immense pain, or increase the threshold of someone's photo-receptors to blind them.

While this method is effective, there are limits to the amount a threshold can be manipulated. This is where Eli's ability affects the perception of this stimuli as well. In theory, the mind tends to group the senses together so that it is easier to process. This allows the mind to interpret similarity, proximity, and continuity, of the size, shape, brightness, and distance of an object. This can affect balance, depth perception, and the awareness of the victim's surroundings. In terms of pain and the sensation of touch, the brain receives the stimuli from the nerves in varying amounts. The effect of these sensations can be altered by the mind's perception of them. For example, if heat was applied to a person's arm the mind could translate that heat as pain if it thinks the arm is burning, or the mind can perceive it as a warm welcome on a winter day. Likewise, touch can be perceived as pain or pleasure as well. It all depends on the mind's interpretation of these stimuli. By manipulating the perception of another's senses, Eli is able to create auditory and optical illusions as well as illusions of pain.

Limitation(s) | Manipulating so many processes of the mind requires a high level of focus and energy, therefore a complete auditory and visual illusion is reserved for dire situations. Even so, there are moments where subtle errors in the illusion can be noticed by keen eyes. Eli's ability only affects someone within a range of twenty feet, growing inch by inch as Eli learns to control her ability. While each illusion may be enough to fool the mind, they are still only illusions and cannot physically affect anything.

Weakness(es) | The level of focus and energy required to produce and maintain an illusion determines the level of exhaustion Eli will experience afterwards. Producing total auditory, visual, and physical illusions causes heavy strain mentally and physically that could last for an entire day. Eli is also only human and lacks in the physical department of vigilantism.

//Skills:
Self-Defense | Eli began to take self-defense classes half a year ago, learning easy ways to dodge attacks and stun opponents. In these classes she was trained to use a baton. She applies these skills in the rare moments she needs to fight.

Although not his intention, Zhen typically stands out in a crowd with his bright hazel eyes, auburn hair, clear olive skin tone, and striking piercings that chain from his lip to his ear. The latter wasn't really something that he wanted to do, but it is required for the more important members of this particular clan to do so.

Despite his height, typically, Zhen doesn't really cast that much of an imposing figure. Although fairly muscular, he isn't a walking wall, and thus it isn't difficult at all to hide his identity. Rarely ever seen, Zhen has a tattoo of a Phaya Naga and Watatsumi that lace all across his back, representing each of his parents respectively. These are the most notable, as other varying tattoos mandated by the gang are intermingled around these. More of such body art envelops the whole of his upper torso like a vest, with differing yokai and symbols depicted.

His outfits typically consist of varying t-shirts, shorts, socks, and sneakers with very coordinated colors. He tends to have a very urban street look, but it tends to change when going in for school. When at school, he's actually a lot less wild looking. While the differing sneakers remain, he'd usually shift to a sort of business casual with button-ups and he'd ditch the piercings entirely.
Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Zhen more often than not, generally keeps to himself. He doesn't have many friends and doesn't try to arbitrarily make conversation. This can give off a rather cold and distant demeanor. This is mostly an outer shell that he's developed due to his circumstances. His father's passing made him withdrawn to interactions with others. He'd be more classified as reserved opposed to simply not liking people.

Zhen is a very much a musically inclined person. Nearly any kind of music can resonate with him and he can find something to appreciate from it. After regaining himself, he's slowly trying to branch out and try new things, but he takes one thing at a time.

It is clear that he sometimes lacks in some areas of the bushido code which was instilled in him at a young age. However, in memory of his father, he still holds strong to those virtues. He won't kill unless he deems it necessary, or if he is putting someone out of their misery. Zhen would do anything in his power to protect families, in which case, he won't brutally injure those whom he knows have family depending on them. Serial murderers, for instance, make the list of those who die painfully.

He is typically very honest despite a criminal upbringing but he isn't fully against lying when it feels necessary, such as with his role as being the Masked Ronin. He's very respectful toward most and especially toward the elderly.

His senses of honor and courage are likely his most defining aspects. When he puts his mind to something, he's going to find a way to pull through with it. If he makes a promise, he will follow through with it, no matter what it is. Under no circumstances would he even attempt to break or even slightly dishonor it. He despises cowards and chronic liars.

That said, he is most certainly someone that anyone want on their side, as he'd fight to the death for those whom he cares about and work hard to make their dreams come true.

Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Zhen was born of Yashida and Miya Khan, the latter of which died soon after childbirth. He was the youngest in a family among the infamous criminal organization known as the "Yakuza". It warred with opposing gangs and law enforcement for many years and they planned for Zhen to be part of it.

His father, Yashida was a world-class assassin known only as 'Kamen' or 'Masked’ Ronin. It was for three generations that their family had been intertwined with the Yakuza. He had taken his youngest son, Zhen, and trained him in the ways of Ninjutsu. It was his family tradition to maintain its honor, as their particular clan of Ronin had long died out as a group, to only being in their family line.

Becoming a father had changed Yashida's mindset, not wanting the life he had for his son. Though, he was in much too deep with the Yakuza Clan by this point, being the right hand to the Head of the immigrated clan. Attempting to leave it all would be suicide for either one of them. Yashida, in a leap of faith, presented the notion of his son being exempt of the Yakuza’s ways.

The Head agreed, but only if Yashida dedicated himself fully to the Yakuza with one simple task. To train selective others in the skills of the Masked Devils. Yashida refused, and thus the offer was voided. Despite this, he tried to make the best of a bad situation by raising his son to be virtuous; raising him in the Bushido Code.

Yashida Khan mysteriously vanished five years ago, presumed dead despite how hard Zhen looked. It devastated the young man as he had lost the only family that he had left. Zhen had idolized his father, even if he was once a willful murderer. What was more, his father's disappearance meant that his familial traditions fell down to him, being the only descendent left.

However, because of his father's loss, Zhen didn't want to take up the mantle. He didn't believe that he could ever live up to the legacy of his family, and it was a rather crushing blow for him. So, after the proddings of his older ‘brothers’, he fell into the lap of the Yakuza. Using his age to their advantage, Zhen was merged into a boarding school for them to try gaining influence within the inner depths of Santa Celia.

It was not too long after his father's death, that he had discovered his father's arsenal of the clan's hidden weaponry in a shrine within his father's old basement. Among the items was his family's heirloom, a Tachi named "Fiend". It was stated that this was cursed by Izanami to his father's bloodline. Zhen trained himself in how to use the weapon in tandem with his training, creating his own fighting style with it.

With his father gone, the fear of The Masked Ronin from other gangs seemed to have went with him. The violence and death had increased dramatically. Innocent people were getting caught in the crossfire. Zhen realized this all too well, and began to understand why his father taught him these things. After some debate with himself, decided that he was going to aid the city by doing what he was trained to, using his skills to fight against the criminals.

Something else that he also determined when deciding to wear the mask, was to keep his identity secret, opposed to his father. That way, no one that he knew or cared about got hurt.

That was two years ago though.

This pseudo Masked Ronin's recent appearance, along with Zhen's increased energy and inspiration wouldn't go unnoticed by higher ups of the clan…

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Supernatural Athleticism | Zhen is naturally more acrobatic and dextrous than other human beings. He could have easily been in the olympics when he was merely twelve years old, and since then, could easily take the gold for nearly every event. He can react quicker, jump higher, and maintain coordination for much longer than most that he comes across. Due to the nature of this ability, it was a trait he possessed since birth and has actively used since he was two years old. This makes any gymnastic or acrobatic movement capable for him, without any need for instruction.

Rapid Learning Capacity | Another key that made his training so easy and quick to develop, was Zhen's innate ability to learn things quickly. It takes almost no time or forethought for Zhen to be able to comprehend and use something that he has been taught or learned about.

Limitation(s) | Although possessing top notch maneuverability, it doesn't necessarily make him any physically stronger or more durable than others. He is inherently above average in those categories, but he had to work hard throughout his training and has to exercise regularly to maintain them at a peak-human level. What is more, he also needs to eat and drink much more than an average person does for his body to remain in the shape that it is.

Further, while he can learn things quickly, it doesn't automatically make him more intelligent than others. He still has to take the time to research and even then, knowledge is no substitute for experience.

Weakness(es) | Zhen's durability, while impressive, is still vulnerable to typical human weaknesses. This would mean that sharp objects, blunt forces, chemical solutions(liquids/gases), radiation, or a lack of food, water, or oxygen among others, would be things that could effectively KO or even kill him.

//Skills:
Master Martial Artist | From the moment he could comprehend knowledge, he was trained in Kenjutsu to its fullest degree, demonstrating himself a remarkable swordsman. Ninjutsu added more skills in which he had to master, his family's variant is more focused on the sword but other traditional disciplines were incorporated with it. He also possesses his own fighting style which is very reminiscent to Iaido.

For the past year, to immerse himself more in his mother’s culture in tandem with the need for more rigorous exercise, he has been studying the art of Muay Thai, in which he is still rapidly advancing.

Espionage | As expected, he is an expert in infiltration and various methods of spying on other individuals without being detected.

Free-Running | With the nature of his powers, things such as free running become a natural skill in which he’d excel.

Multilingual | He is fluent in both English and Japanese, although a goal of his is to learn more.

Musical Production | Zhen is well versed in varying musical instruments, and has been hired at some clubs around town as a DJ.

Everly cuts her hair once a year: on her birthday. Her eyes are her measure, and she leaves it an inch or so past her collarbone. Her hair is usually down during the day, and her eyes are always ringed with dark circles. Her clothes tend to be a tad oversized, and her shoes are all battered and in need of replacement. In terms of her closet, she sticks to muted tones, staying away from anything that stands out from the crowd. Add that to her small stature and thin frame and most people would easily end up overlooking her—or mistaking her for a child.

When she’s headed out for a job, Everly prefers an all-black ensemble consisting of a skin-tight jumpsuit, boots or improvised leather and cloth wraps, gloves, and a knit face mask that covers everything except her eyes. She buns her hair under the mask and adds a coat when it’s cold, and she keeps what few tools she needs in an armband.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Quiet, pensive, and watchful, Everly presents an apathetic confidence for most things, and she has a bit of a stubborn streak when she thinks she’s right. This side of her, though, is as much a front as a way of life she’s been forced to adopt, having stepped into the parental role for her younger sister at an age when she wasn’t yet done making decisions for herself. Hard choices had to be made, and Everly made them on her own. Being a practical and goal-orientated person, she sticks to schedules and keeps with priorities. Stress, therefore, isn’t so much a part of her life as adrenaline, and she’s developed a flat decisiveness over the years to compliment her growing independence.

Everly’s sharpness comes in terms of her watchfulness, and she prefers observation over action if possible. That said, she’s also developed a set of fast reflexes, and she isn’t afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right, nor would she fail to stand up for those she cares about. While she rarely interacts with anyone aside from her sister and Tim, having given up on friends a long while ago, she doesn’t mind this much. Those she cares about, though, Everly would do anything to protect, but as a result of past events she has a streak of distrustfulness that she finds hard to shake. She often finds herself overly critical of others, reading into subtle actions and trying to see the worst in everything, but that’s the way she’s learned to survive. The trust she’d put in her parents had hardly been reciprocated, it seemed, and though she tries to break out of the mold, she often finds herself following their footsteps when it comes to caring for her sister.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
The Golden Harbor is a small Chinese restaurant located in the grey area between where Santa Celia ends and the Arido Valley begins, and its rough rabble of regular clientele consists mostly of people who come for the cheap prices rather than the food itself, which varies from mediocre to decent depending on who’s cooking. Everly’s listed here as a co-owner after she bought half the shop from Tim, the original owner, who started out as her landlord four years ago when she arrived in California for college, her sister at her side and her parents nowhere to be found despite them promising to be on the next flight over. From her sister’s perspective, Everly was currently a part-time college student, part-time restaurant owner, and the second only by virtue of sheer luck and some endless generosity on Tim’s part. Having taken two years to settle down in Santa Celia, Everly was only a sophomore now, but she doesn’t mind it much. She went not so much for herself as for her sister, who she absolutely intended on sending off to college, and—though she hated to admit it—for her parents, who’d enthusiastically encouraged her budding aptitude for math all those years ago. This decision, however, has her away from home more often than not, but she does manage a day off every now and then by virtue of being, in essence, self-employed.

Her job at the Golden Harbor is intentionally difficult to explain. Tim was the one in charge of the day-to-day business, from hiring staff to seeing to customers. Everly, on the other hand, manages the finances, writing the checks and filing the taxes when needed. While she did check in on the shop every other day, she did so more to keep up appearances and take some food to go. That the restaurant had been doing significantly better ever since Tim brought her on probably hadn’t escaped him, but he took the increased cut of pay silently. When it came to the numbers, he never asked questions, and in return Everly kept his restaurant running smoothly and against all odds.

Everly’s night job was where the difference between profit and deficit came from, and she prefers not to term it. She took from those that took, and she gave to those who give. Usually, her targets were small fish in the world of organized crime—the tax collectors or small-time robbers she managed to pinpoint. Hit enough of them and there was a sizable pile of cash. Though she does take a small cut for herself and Tim, the rest is upcycled, courtesy of the restaurant, to nonprofits benefiting those disadvantaged by the current criminal system. There was little to be said about the legalities of the matter, but as she liked to see it, she was merely taking matters into her own hands. After all, considering that it’d been four years since her parents had sent her and her sister to California, hoping that the distance could save the girls from the mafia’s death threats, and that it’d been four years since Everly had heard from her parents, Everly figured it was about time she did.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:

Catoptric Teleportation | Everly is able to teleport via reflective surfaces as long as she knows where and through which “mirror” her destination lies. Keeping in mind the specific mirror through which her desired destination is accessible, she is able to essentially convert the mirror into a portal, and as long as some part of her is touching the mirror, the portal will remain live. The reflective surface, however, does not have to be one-sided; glass panes are also possible access points as long as there is a light source nearby to allow reflections to be possible.

Limitation(s) | For a surface to be counted as a “mirror,” it must be reflective, meaning there must be a light source present to allow reflection. To allow Everly to pass through, though, the surface must present an unbroken reflective—be smooth enough to allow a near-perfect reflection. Uneven surfaces like bent, textured, or paned glass, therefore, would be either ineligible due to them distorting the reflection or count as separate pieces of glass.

Material-wise, a mirror usually constitutes of glass for Everly, though she has been able to use well-polished metal. The metal, though, would have to be polished to the point of being able to serve as a mirror.

Size constraints must be kept in mind since the portals cannot expand beyond the edge of the mirror. Thus, whatever Everly is trying to pass through the mirror must fit through both the mirrors she is passing through, meaning that the mirror must be big enough for her to at least dive headfirst through if she wishes to pass through it.

When it comes to passing something through the mirror, Everly must be touching the mirror the entire time the object is inside. The moment she isn’t, the portal closes, and the object—if still inside—is cut cleanly between the two locations, courtesy of the mirrors.

For Everly to open the portal, she needs to have in mind the image of both the destination and the mirror through which she wishes to pass through, and this image should be from the perspective from looking out a mirror. Meaning, if she doesn’t know her destination, she cannot pass through the mirror, even if she knows that one exists.

Weakness(es) | Shattering a mirror as Everly is using it will render that mirror unusable since a portal will only remain open if the image in Everly’s mind matches the mirror she wishes to travel through. In addition, interrupting Everly’s focus will also close the portal since it is vital that she keeps the image of her destination in mind. Any sudden difference between the image in Everly’s head and the mirror she is trying to pass through will cause the portal to close and consequently cut anything still between the mirrors, including Everly herself.

Catoptric Scrying | By picturing the reflective surface through which she wishes to look through, Everly is able to use any “mirror” as a scrying glass to look out another, as if connecting the two mirrors into one pane of glass. In this way, Everly is both able to see and be seen through the other mirror. Everly can use this ability to watch through the mirror, allowing her to gather information from a remote location. It should be noted, though, that visual information is the only thing gatherable through this method since nothing but light travels through the mirror.

Everly’s preferred use of this ability, though, is to prep for teleportation since using this ability will show her a current-time picture of her destination, thus allowing her to open the portal through the mirrors. When she uses these powers together, the mirror essentially becomes a direct window to what the other mirror is facing, allowing both sides to see each other.

Limitation(s) | The same textural and material limits for apply for scrying as they do teleporting. Size-wise, though, the qualifications for scrying are comparatively easier to satisfy since Everly can use mirrors of any size to scry. Looking from a bigger mirror into a smaller one will yield an exact, true-sized view through the smaller mirror. Looking from smaller to bigger mirrors, though, will result in the view through the bigger one being cropped to fit the parameters of the smaller mirror. In both scenarios, Everly will need to picture how exactly the mirror she is using will overlay onto the mirror through which she will look, almost as if the two mirrors were to stick back-to-back to form a glass panel.

In order for Everly to scry, the mirror must also be fixed in place. That is, it cannot be mobile, or have moved from where Everly believes it to be. Although Everly can theoretically look through a mirror she sees in a photograph, she would have to have a rough idea of where the mirror is physically, and the mirror must be where she believes it to be for her to be able to scry through it, meaning if Everly believes the mirror to be on the desk, or in one city, it cannot be on the drawer, or in another city. Physically, the mirror should be exactly where Everly thinks it is, and Everly should also know the rough coordinates of where it is to be able to scry through it.

It should also be noted that a mirror, for Everly’s powers to work, is flat, and what it reflects is static in that trying to tilt one mirror will not tilt the view out the other mirror and vice-versa. Leaning to one side or another, too, will not yield different views since the mirror does not present a three-dimensional image.

Weakness(es) | Just like with teleportation, breaking the mirror will change the parameters of what is being defined as a mirror and therefore cause the scrying to fail, as will interrupting Everly while she is scrying.

//Skills:

Financial Literacy | Having grown up in a household where money was tight, Everly worked hard from a young age to be able to help her parents manage. Though her parents choose to keep her in the dark in an effort to protect her, her knowledge came into use when she arrived in California with nothing but documents and her enrollment in college. From filing taxes to budgeting, Everly manages her own finances, and her work at the restaurant attests to how her knowledge has developed.

Lock Picker | As much access as her powers give her, Everly knew from day one that she’d best pick up a few more skills, and one of the skills she chose was lock picking. In combination with her powers, lock picking allows her access to virtually anywhere she wants inside a normal lock-and-key building, and Everly has confidence in her ability to get in and out unnoticed.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu | Seeing as Everly’s power often put her in environments where she was a viable target, she knew she needed to pick up some self-defense skill. However, given her size, she also knew that her best bet would be a discipline focused on technique rather than strength, and jiu-jitsu offered her that. She’s been a loyal student at the local dojo for nearly a year now with three two-hour sessions a week, and though she still has ways to go—since she has to make up for what she lacked in physical strength and size with skill—she could probably take an untrained individual down with the element of surprise or timing on her side.

Bilingual | Everly speaks both English and Thai fluently, having grown up using Thai around the house. These days, though, Everly reserves it for her sister, mixing it with English when at home.

Home Cook | Having basically grown up in a Thai restaurant, Everly’s no stranger to the kitchen, and she can easily put together a decent meal. Though she usually falls back on the restaurant for food, she does occasionally help out in the kitchen, whipping up specials for customers and crew members that know what they’re looking for—with extras to take home, of course.

Supporting Cast
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Emily Srisati | Everly’s younger sister by six years, Emily’s currently a junior in high school, and she takes her courses online. A hard worker and quiet person in general, Emily maintains the apartment when Everly’s out, keeping the place clean and stocked with necessities. Everly’s grateful for her sister’s lack of adolescent angst, but she often finds herself wishing that Emily could be different from how she herself was as a child. Still, Everly wouldn’t trade her sister for the world, and she would do anything to keep Emily safe.

Kasom and Sopa Srisati | Everly’s parents immigrated to America in their late twenties, hoping to give their children the opportunities they hadn’t had. Having taken a loan out to open their own restaurant, they struggled to make ends meet for their children but fell victim to unfortunate circumstances in America’s changing criminal system. Since one final phone call four years ago, they’ve gone silent, and Everly knows neither where they are nor whether or not she’d forgive them for making all her decisions for her.

Timothy Cho | The original sole owner of the Golden Harbor, Tim’s a private man who keeps to himself as well as a landlord to a few properties around Santa Celia. His tenants, though, know him to be a firm but gentle soul who reduces rent when circumstances are tough, and Everly’s personal experience with this puts her in his debt. She holds great respect for him and knows he’ll put his cut of profit to good use, and she reciprocates his silence with her own.

Hugo Ferraz | Though not a large man by most standards, Hugo maintains an intimidating stature into his middle ages. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, he’d been a regular in the Brazilian nationals in his prime, but he was forced to retire after an unfortunate car accident left him with a weak back. Turning his retirement into an opportunity, Hugo moved to the states and opened his own school in sunny southern California, where there seemed to be no shortage of health enthusiasts registering for his classes. These days, he mainly watches over the school’s operations and classes, and his inscrutable stone face can often be seen looking over practice sessions.

Madame Su | The aging owner of the Lucky Pawn Shop whose eyes and ears aren’t what they used to be. Luckily, she has the family help when it comes to running her shop, and her prices—for people she likes—are relatively fair. Her business spans the port and beyond, but Everly mainly turns to her for her discretion, since selling internationally means trails tend to go cold. She maintains a cordial relationship with Everly, who abides by her friendly nosiness.

Nathan stands at the height of six feet and two inches tall. With his height, his weight is below average compared to other men. Despite the fact that he's mixed, Nathan's complexion looks more white and might get mistaken as only being white. And due to the fact that he is homeless, he tends to wear used clothes from places like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. He always looks tried with bags under his eyes and the way that he walks lazily due to how difficult finding a comfortable place to sleep is in a city.

Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
The Castillo-Armstrong family were a respectful wealthy family and owners of Midwest Realty, a housing company in the Midwest. In addition, they were investors in several different companies, retailers, studios, and even products. However, the Castillo-Armstrong was working for a well known crime family in the background, providing them business opportunities beyond the city. Meanwhile, Abigail Castillo-Armstrong was shocked to learn that she was pregnant with Nathan. Abigail and Santino already had five other children to care, but neither of them wanted an abortion. Thus, Nathan Fox Castillo-Armstrong was born on the nineteenth of May.

It was hard for Nathan because he was the youngest child. The one that nobody expected. Nathan wasn't given as much attention as the other children received. But he still was raised by his mom and dad. Then, he became ten years old. The 2008 financial crisis changed the entire world, including the Castillo-Armstrong family for the worst. As the result, Santino further increased their involvement with the crime family by hosting illegal gambling events. It puts pressure and stress on Abigail and Santino to maintain their wealth and businesses. As a result, they started to focus more on business than being a family.

Besides the youngest two, most of their children were working and it seemed reasonable to fully focus on their businesses. Unfortunately, it meant that Nathan wasn't given the love that his siblings got and that made him angry. He resented his parents for not caring and loving him compared to the others while he was growing up. Both middle and high school were hell for him. Even with the family name, he never truly borrowed by everyone. He knew a few people from school but he never hung out with them beyond school. While his siblings were getting ready with their future, Nathan was still figuring his out.

Despite him being an unplanned child, both Abigail and Santino expected Nathan to do something important with his life. They had expectations for their children, especially Nathan. Everything that he attempted to do wasn't good enough in their eyes. He saw the disappointment in their eyes during their long arguments. And as a result, it affected him in school and at work. He became depressed and started to question everything that he was doing.

Then, high school was over and Nathan still had no plan for the future. Frustrated with their son, his parents threaten to kick him out if he didn't attend university for a law degree. His father made the decision for him while his mother helped him pack. They pressured Nathan to attend university for a degree that he didn't want but he tried regardless. At the end, however, he failed his classes and the university kicked him out. He returned home and wanted his parent to comfort him for once. Instead, he was given some money and told that he had ruined the family name for the last time.

He managed to get a decent job as a waiter for a waiter before he was let go. Then, he left his apartment because he couldn't pay for it anymore. Nathan left behind Michigan and went to Wisconsin in the hopes of finding work until his life was changed forever. He was sleeping nearby Morgan Corp building when he heard an altercation and decided to investigate. That was when he saw Ink for the first time, fighting against the local security. Then, he was seen by some of the security. Under strict orders that no outsiders would ever see their projects, they decided to shoot him. Nathan thought that he was going to die on the spot until the creature entered his body.

Suddenly, he ended up in a warehouse face to face with his savior. It explained everything from its origins in a Morgan Corp lab for its purpose as a powerful spy tool. But, it wanted freedom. So, it asked Nathan for his help to maintain it. No matter what. With no other purpose in his life, Nathan accepted the offer and allowed the creature to coexist with him. In return, he had to help him with a few things. It accepted. When he asked for a name, the creature said it never had one but was referred as "Subject INK-0210."

In response, Nathan gave him the name of "Ink" because of his ink-like appearance.

And that was the beginning of their friendship. They were thieves for a few months before Morgan Corp caught up them. Another few were spent hiding and tracking them to Chicago before damaging their business to make them leave Nathan and Ink alone. It worked. Now, after all the violence and destruction, Nathan wanted a clean start and his only friend couldn't agree more. After much thinking, they decided that Santa Celia was the perfect place to start over.
Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Being homeless has made Nathan into a cynical person who believes that people are only interested in themselves. He also loathes the wealthy that waste money and usually treats others below them like trash, especially the homeless population. Overall, he doesn't trust people easily and doubts their acts of kindness; but, it doesn't mean that he has no heart. He is grateful to those that actually care about helping out the homeless. Still, the only person that he trusts is his alien friend, Ink. Plus, he is horrible at socializing with other people besides Ink.

Other than that, he doesn't have too many interests and hobbies since he is always on the move and surviving on the streets. However, he does have a soft spot for music and the arts.

As for the criminal scum, he will easily kill them with no regrets whatsoever depending on the crime. He understands if someone was stealing to survive in a world that the lower class is treated like dirt. But, he will kill those that harm the defenseless for pleasure. He wouldn't care if the rich were targets of the criminal activity. Hell, he would openly support them. Nathan respects the authorities that want to uphold the law and stop the criminals even if he doesn't believe in the courts. But, he becomes disgusted with the corrupted officials and officers that abuse their position.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Subject INK-0210 | The alien creature that escaped his prison and saved Nathan from certain death on the fateful night. It was capable of fixing his wounds and temporarily took control of the human to get to a safe and hidden place. Afterwards, it decided to reveal itself to the human. It wasn't a surprise that he naturally freaked out due to waking up in front of a "monster." When he asked for a name, it was confused. Unlike humans, it wasn't given a name other than "Subject INK-0210."

Nathan decided to give it the name of "Ink" due to its appearance. Before they left the hideout, he asked a question. "Why did you save me?"

It tried to think of an answer but couldn't. It felt something within Nathan that he never felt before compared to the other humans that it was forced to bond with. Something beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

Limitation(s) | As the pair traveled across the country together, it was beginning to understand what he can and cannot do. It can expand his mass to create a face and body parts with ease. But it cannot mimic someone's appearance. It has super strength (capable of flipping over a car) and shock absorbancy. And it has the ability healing injuries in the host at a fast rate depending on the wound. For example, gunshot wounds and cuts tend to heal quickly depending on how serious it is. However, it cannot regrow any missing body parts.

Weaknesses | It's liquid body makes them vulnerable to water and electricity. Plus, when Nathan isn't merged with Ink, he is a normal human with typical human weaknesses. And none of them know the long term effects on Nathan. It has never been host to a human for a long time and it might affect him in different ways. And his dependence on Ink could be an issue if they were separated for days and weeks. It's similar to how an addict is dependent on drugs to get by.

//Skills:
Basic Survival Knowledge | Being homeless for the last two years shaped Nathan into the person that he is today. In addition, it taught him on how to survive in the city without a roof over your head and a source of income. He knows the dangerous parts of a city and dealt with a gang or two before leaving it for good. Both Nathan and Ink never stayed in one place for long and kept to the shadows. He also isn't afraid of dumpster diving whenever he has to. And doesn't get bothered by peoples' reactions to seeing him unlike Ink.

Stealth | With help from Ink, Nathan was able to become a master thief and stole for the wealthy. Ink's dark fluid body makes them virtually invisible to the average human. Plus, Nathan's time in the street taught him how to flow with the crowd whenever he's in trouble. Even know he doesn't break into people's homes anymore, he still has the knowledge and idea if someone was robbed.

Bilingual | Nathan knows both English and Spanish thanks to his parents.

Kyle falls between the lines of kempt and unkempt in terms of physical appearance. Relatively unblemished skin coupled with hair that obviously looks like it could use a trim, though he’s rather neglectful when it comes to that. He takes much better care of his physical condition, having musculature to show for years of training and Tourist work.

Kyle generally dresses in more formal articles, including button shirts and sleek jackets and dress shoes. Most of his clothes have been fitted with some manner of mundane reinforcement and protection, coupled with a few light enchantments to help stave off things like filth and wear-and-tear.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Kyle is a very work-focused man. He is never one for long periods of relaxation or doing anything besides preparation and maintenance work between excursions into the unknown. As such, he can come off as rather rude to people who aren’t used to being around a man so uninterested in doing anything most would consider ‘fun’, but he won’t go out of his way to antagonize people who hang about. Mostly he’ll just focus on whatever he’s doing without striking up much conversation.

Kyle harbors a personal belief in his own self-being that he keeps from pretty much everyone, including his sister - especially his sister, in fact. He feels as though, being a mundane human, he is in danger of being overshadowed by others around him who possess arcane aptitude or other spectacular abilities. While he understands that there are many Tourists like him, Kyle is the first one in a while to end up without magic in his family. A good deal of their reputation stood on their abilities, and Kyle does not want to be written off for his lack of such.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
The Foster twins, Kyle and Kayla, belong to a small organization of close friends and families who simply refer to themselves as ‘Tourists’. They are not government-sanctioned in any proper manner, nor do they present themselves as an official business. They are simply folks who fancy themselves specialists in the art of dealing with problems of the supernatural variety. Monster hunting, curse breaking, they cover all bases that they can, and more often than not by making use of the arcane themselves in order to get the job done.

For the Fosters themselves, they were something of a special case. Their mother, Elizabeth Crane, was originally a Tourist who had been trained by her own father, Milo Crane - considered a veteran among the ranks. She’d developed quite the track record with her problem-solving, having traveled the world over both alone and in the company of other Tourists, helping where she could. During a spell of downtime however, she happened to meet a man who was, by all accounts, completely ordinary - Arnold Foster. What started as friendly discussions became the occasional get-together, and eventually escalated to full-blown marriage. Elizabeth tried to hold on to her life as a Tourist, but eventually decided to put it all behind her in order to properly raise her new pair of children, Kyle and Kayla - somewhat to the chagrin of her father, who was quite fond of the Tourist life, and much to her own naivety, thinking nothing nefarious would come catching up with her.

Elizabeth had seen her fair share of truly evil creatures, and not a fair few of them being the vengeful sort. Unfortunately, the Tourists just can’t beat them all. In 2004, Arnold and Elizabeth Foster were murdered on their way home one night by some remnant of work left undone in the past. And instead of simply pursuing vengeance in the name of his daughter and her husband, Milo Crane took things a step further, and brought sixteen-year-old Kyle and Kayla into the Tourist life after their grieving was over. He introduced them to the supernatural world, and made it clear to them that there was no going back now.

And the two of them were just fine with that.

Now, Kyle and Kayla have always been nigh-inseparable, but they have a sea of differences between them. Unlike his sister, Kyle was born with zero magical capability whatsoever, something most of the Tourists chalked up to being his father’s fault. As such, his training was focused towards dealing with problems in a more ‘direct’ manner - taking a bat or a bullet or even some bare knuckles to anyone or anything that proved a nuisance. Kyle, very much motivated to not simply live in any of his families’ shadows, gave his training much more effort than most Tourists were ever witness to beforehand. They watched him mold himself into a master of gunplay, close combat, and standing strong in the wake of the supernatural, no matter how monumental the enemy was. The years of training paid off, and Kyle was made an official Tourist by the age of 21, alongside his sister, who had been tackling her own training all the while.

Tourist work wasn’t the Fosters’ immediate interest, however. What they were really after - at least, what Kyle was really after - was revenge for the murder of their parents. And old grandfather Milo was along for the ride. The three were beset with both supporters and naysayers, who told them revenge was either not worth it, or very, very worth it. The trio remained strong in their pursuit of vengeance, and ultimately disappeared for a span of several months. They resurfaced sometime later, spilling no fine details of their accomplishments. All the three said was that they got what they wanted, and all affairs had been settled. Nothing else was ever said of their secretive campaign, save for rumors and speculations, but nothing has ever been properly confirmed nor denied by the trio themselves.

Milo ‘retired’ from his role as a Tourist some years after, and seemingly disappeared off the face the Earth. No Tourists has ever made any fact of the matter clear, if indeed they knew anything regarding the storied life of that man. Kyle and Kayla, age 23 by then, were left to finally begin their work as Tourists proper, inheriting much of their grandfather's equipment and belongings to make their lives easier. They did as their predecessors did - they went places, they fought monsters, they broke curses. And they were every bit as good as Milo or Elizabeth had ever been.

After nearly a decade, things have settled some for the Tourists. The Foster twins are now charged with standard action work in the city of Santa Celia, with no major goal other than to keep an eye on things and report whatever seems suspicious or out of the ordinary to their betters, and to remedy what they can on their own.

▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Superhuman Ability | N/A

Limitation(s) | N/A

//Skills:
Weapon Training | Kyle possesses a remarkable plethora of knowledge in the departments of both conventional and antiquated weaponry, thanks to many years of training, studying, and experience. Versed in the use of pistols, rifles, heavy guns, and even firearms that haven’t been used in over a century (some Tourists are ridiculously old-fashioned), Kyle will find himself very much prepared for any altercation that can be resolved with a helping of ammunition.

Close Combat | And yet sometimes guns simply can’t get the job done properly. Just as much as he has trained with firearms, Kyle has made himself no slouch when it comes to getting up close and personal with his targets. Be it figting with bats or knives or swords or pipes, or even his own two fists, Kyle is very much capable in any close-quarters encounter.

Runecrafting | Kyle has studied the art of runecrafting in order to prepare his equipment for minor enchantments more easily. Minor things, such as improvements to firearm performance and capabilities. Of course, he doesn’t do the actual enchanting himself - Kayla activates the items when they are ready.

Alchemy | The study of combining both arcane and mundane ingredients in order to create tools fit for combating the supernatural is something Kyle has spent some time with. Potions, bombs, poisons, and other such things are all within his capabilities, though he is by no means a master in the art.

Supporting Cast
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Beyond their many fellow Tourists, Kyle and Kayla regularly speak with a man named Lance Parker - something of a ‘senior’ Tourist, though the specifics of that rank remain obscure. Parker lets the twins know where they should be and what they should do in regards to whatever charge they are currently faced with. Kyle doesn’t seem too incredibly fond of the man though, preferring to let Kayla handle speaking with him most of the time.

Appearance Details
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Standing in at 6 feet, Logan is taller than average, but not abnormally so. Athletic and sinewy, Logan has the chiseled triangle shape of a swimmer's body- broad shoulders and defined torso, with powerful arms and legs. Despite this physicality, Logan maintains a very relaxed, almost lazily casual posture at almost all times.

Logan's skin is smooth and unblemished, and his hair is typically kept short and close to his head. Generally clean shaven, Logan will occasionally allow a beard to grow, but never lets it get particularly long. His eyes are a light brown and at certain angles seem to spark or shine.

Logan's sense of fashion is a combination of urban and athletic: soccer pants, joggers, hoodies and bombers along with jordans and bright colored sneakers make up the majority of his wardrobe. Also, Logan looks surprisingly nice in a suit.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Casually confident, Logan carries himself with a sort of calm bravado and rarely breaks this character. Outgoing, yet not brash and outspoken, Logan’s generally cheerful and light-hearted disposition is of one who is rather confident in himself and his abilities. While casually boastful of his own abilities, he isn't afraid to acknowledge his own shortcomings, though will often spin it around in a manner that sounds better of him. Though relaxed and lazy, Logan is competent and appreciably professional, and often interacts quite well with women and children, and will casually flirt with others regularly. A generally good natured man, Logan is optimistic, and talkative, often making sarcastic or crude comments even when in the middle of deep shit.

Logan has a rather dim view on gangs and drugs- especially given what happened to his brother, and his disdain is difficult to hide. While not prone to violence, Logan has no problem with it either, and while he has yet to kill anyone, he doesn't seem to have a problem pulling a gun on potential problems. Logan is extremely protective of his family, and sees himself as the guardian of his family, despite his older sister's insistence that she is.

The more Logan gets involved in vigilante justice, the more it seems that his grades and focus in school have begun to slip. He often times skips classes outright, and is dangerously close to losing his scholarship due to his falling GPA. Not that he seems to care- in fact, Logan seems more dogged than ever when it comes to pursuing criminals and wrongdoers.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Born in Santa Celia’s East Side slums, Logan was the middle child of three in a rather modest family with little means. As a child, Logan was bold and unruly. He bickered with others constantly and insisted on having things done his way. He was competitive and at times even aggressive. The son of a superhuman, he was well aware of the occult and supernatural from an early age and even discovered own powers at the age of 8. Armed with the knowledge the supernatural, as well as his own bio-electric abilities- as minor as they were, Logan was confident in his abilities to instigate and pick fights with other children. It was easy to dismiss Logan’s displays of his powers as the exaggerations of children and as a result, Logan pushed and shoved his way to the top of the elementary schoolyard as a kid.

His older sister, while seemingly devoid of any special abilities, remained Logan and his brother's primary caretaker for much of his early life, as their father was a deadbeat who did nothing but drank, and their mother worked double shifts at the local hospital, leaving the kids at home to fend for themselves most of the times. Despite his bold demeanor, Logan and his sister Arianna got along incredibly well. Logan often regarded his older sister with a sort of reverence, and Arianna was able to influence his actions with little more than a word. In that manner, it was often joked that Ariana possessed some sort of abilities of suggestion.

Logan’s younger brother Malcolm looked up to Logan, and always seemed to follow him wherever he went. The two were close friends, and when Logan joined The Immortals street gang in high school, so did his brother. The boys had a rough childhood, and like many from the downtown slums were picked up by the Immortals young. As a kid, he'd run errands and do lookout work for the crew, and would bully and recruit other kids from the local school districts. As a young teen Logan was feisty and confrontational, and the Immortals encouraged his behavior. The gang gave him a taste of parties, and the fun, daring side of life. His sister needless to say, did not approve, but was unable to draw Logan out of the gang until the end of highschool.

Getting a scholarship to University of California Santa Celia, for soccer, Logan found a way for himself and decided to leave the Immortals, his brother coming along with him. The process was messy and at times violent, but the family was able to extract themselves from the East Side, and found moved into a small apartment in Downtown Santa Celia. The Kensington kids believed that they had gotten away from the Immortals.

And in a way they were, until about last year, when Logan’s brother Malcolm was killed outside a club in Downtown SC, gunned down by a trio of Immortals gangsters in the street. While Malcolm technically survived the encounter, he had to be rushed to the hospital and was put into a medically induced coma. Shortly after that, Logan began engaging in vigilante activities, specifically targeting Immortals and their locations. His glowing mask making him infamous amongst the ranks of the Immortals. He has no set alias, but the mask has made him relatively known around the Downtown area.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Bio-Electric Manipulation | Logan's body generates an abnormally large amount of bio-electricity, and he has the ability to manipulate his and others to an extent. His bio-electric fields increase the physical strength and durability of his body and he is capable of converting his bio-electricity into offensive weapons, giving him electric powered strikes, and short range blasts of electricity. Alongside offensive uses, he can also channel bio-electricity to allow himself short bursts of speed while electrostatic allows him to run along steep or vertical surfaces. Logan can also detect the bio-electric signatures of people and other living creatures within short distances- typically 20-30 feet. He can also absorb electricity from outside sources as well, allowing him to 'supercharge' his abilities.

Limitation(s) | Logan's bio-electric generation is rather intensive, and requires a large amount of calories to keep going- on top of his already high metabolism, Logan needs a considerable amount of calories- or a bit of extra juice to keep himself going. In addition, while Logan is capable of absorbing electricity from outside sources, he can only hold onto excess charge for limited amounts of time. Most notably, Logan has to trade off between offense/utility and defense, while his bio-electric fields enhance his durability, he has to draw the dormant energy away when attacking with it or using any of his other abilities.

Weakness(es) | Despite his powers and abilities, Logan is ultimately human, and is vulnerable to everything that humans are, including but not limited to blunt and sharp trauma, bullets, drowning and fire. In addition, Logan's offensive powers have limited effect on those immune or resistant to electricity, whether they be inexplicably resistant or wrapped in rubber.

//Skills:
Street Fighting | A mixture of pugilism, cheap shots, surprise, stacked odds, and a sideways turned glock, the reality of street fighting is that it is unrefined, unpredictable, and inherently unfair. Combined with his enhanced physicality, Logan is capable of going toe to toe with some of the most hardened fighters. Alongside his kickboxing training, Logan is well versed with knives, blunt objects and small firearms.

Free Running | With his ability to climb surfaces and his heightened reflexes, Logan is a natural at using his legs as a quick method of traversal- handy at chasing down fleeing targets, as well as fleeing from the police when they eventually respond.

Breaking and Entering | Rather good at getting into places he’s not supposed to be, Logan knows his way around a set of lockpicks. Anything to tough for him to lockpick- a combination of electric shocks and a crowbar usually does the job.

Athleticism | Attending UCSC on a Soccer Scholarship, it is no surprise that Logan is quite athletic. His strength and stamina are much higher than the average individual, he’s used to extended physical exertion without complaint. Logan also enjoys swimming and basketball outside of soccer.

Supporting Cast

Arianna Kensington - 28, Waitress. Logan’s older sister and apartment roommate. Arianna served as Logan and his brother’s primary caretaker for the majority of their early life.
Malcolm Kensington - 19, Patient. Logan’s younger brother and best friend. Currently in a medically induced coma at St. Peregrine's General Hospital after an incident with the Santa Celia sect of The Immortals street gang.
The Immortals Street Gang - A violent street gang primarily based in the Santa Celia’s East Side slums and Downtown. The Immortals dabble in the drug trade, and are not afraid to use muscle when needed, but they primarily focus on weapons dealing and human trafficking. They are supposedly backed by an individual or organization with deep pockets. It's unknown what their ultimate goal is, but many believe it may be raising funds or aiding in experiments to achieve immortality.

Mauro is something of a shadow of the man he once was or could be. His once muscular build has shrunk and turned gaunt after years of alcoholism while more recent times of over-working and exhaustion have further contributed to making him look older still than his true middle age. Still his face is that of a handsome man; if someone is able to look past his unkempt grooming and rather sunken eyes.

He has no discernible fashion, most of his clothes while clean are riddled with tears and old stains meant much more for function and frugality than form. A hunched posture paired with already underwhelming height often leading the few people to take notice of him in a crowd to assume an underwhelming man in both physical competence and character.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Only someone completely stupid with altruism would open a free clinic in the bowls of Santa Celia's ghetto, just plain stupid if they had open doors for all. Mauro however is neither. He carries a heavy conscience, and does his charity work to feel better about himself rather than the world; which he holds in a rather low regard. There is no underlying hope for justice, or any real cause he dedicates himself to; but if he is able to offer something to help those suffering around him, why wouldn't he?

Few are close enough to Mauro to see the workings of his personality; he doesn't have time to make new friends, and is paranoid around most strangers. Even to the handful of people he is familiar with he remains distant and distracted, too often pessimistic and slow to smile. The brass exuberance that use to dictate his actions has been completely exchanged for a sour demeanor. He considers himself pragmatic but never to the point of nihilism, and holds a quiet hope for redemption in his own eyes however unrealistic it seems.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Mauro's family immigrated to America in 1988. A run of misfortune saw them all but desitiute, and Mauro's father sought the aid of his cousin's who had begun landscaping business in suburban New Jersey thirty years prior. He suffered a heart attack two years after his arrival. Mauro and his mother were left to the good will of distant relatives and the small Italian-American community that had formed around them. They got by in the end, Mauro spending all his after school hours on menial jobs with his relative's company; where his talent with machines presented itself. It was such a natural thing to Mauro himself, he'd never considered it a gift, and while it was appreciated by his employers it was largely unacknowledged until he went to university.

Lacking funds, but desperate to please his mother who still clutched to her American dream, Mauro signed on with the military to pay for his college tuition for an eight year medical program at NYU. At school and away from working every evening his abilities became even more pronounced to those around him, and so he completed his degree a year early before beginning his residency with the American army where he met Kyle Harper.

Harper and Mauro grew very close during their deployments, and together took full advantage of the relatively new 'don't ask don't tell' policy as well as Mauro's access to the med-center's pharmacy. So Mauro continued his service after completing his due years until 2008 when both he and Harper where found with oxycodones.

The discovery of an affair with a lieutenant may have been overlooked for a time, but the drugs were not. Mauro returned to America in disgrace to a sickly mother. Unable to explain why no hospital or clinic would hire him, Mauro moved his mother south to the warmer Santa Celia, unable to afford sending her home to Italy as she wanted. Without work, his time was largely spent partying between suffering stifling disappointment from his mother, who died less than a year after their move. Without any real friends in the city, Mauro continued to spiral downwards until he woke up in Stadler's Medical Hospital, being treated for a stab wound by an old friend.

Don Malcom and his wife took it upon themselves to help their once promising classmate, but even their recommendations couldn't fix his name. Sober for the first time in nearly a decade, Mauro saw his life clearly for what it was and nearly turned back to drugs to out of shame. Instead he moved to the more derelict side of Santa Celia, and under the city in it's forgotten sewers and rail systems he found people in the position he'd been in, and offered them help.

Eventually word spread and the demand for a free doctor who didn't ask questions grew enough that Mauro earned his own small nook in the city's underbelly. He called his clinic St. Benedetta for his mother and spent the next four years securing and improving the space and in turn, his position in the city.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Mechanical Savant | Mauro understands the workings of any complex system he comes into contact with, be it biological, mechanical, or even chemical. While the information he gleans is primarily useful in his knowing how to operate or manipulate any machine in the world, he also is able to instantly identify any malfunctions and have the most practical solution to repair them.

Limitation(s) | The knowledge Mauro gains isn't magical in itself, he cannot bring back the dead or any mechanism that is beyond repair. In addition he can't create anything himself, unless given extremely detailed instructions or blueprints; he considers himself more of an operator or repairman rather than inventor. He requires all equipment that would normally be needed in any medical treatment or repair. When it comes to understanding human bodies, it comes at its lowest form, he cannot deduce a person's personality or traits simply by using his power and unless the other person's power manifests itself in some physical alteration, he is unable to denote if a person has any super human abilities or what they are. His ability doesn't increase his underlying intelligence.

Weakness(es) | While still in better shape than most men his age, Mauro is past his prime. Constant over exertion paired with years of past drug abuse, and old injuries have left his body more aged than it would otherwise be. He possesses no outright physical powers and while his combat training and experience is more extensive than most a past knife wound to his lower abdomen has left him easily winded and prone to cramping, somewhat hindering his ability to actually put the knowledge to use. His position in Santa Celia itself is a precarious one; having no real affiliation with any of the city's gangs but doing work for all of them due to his 'helping anyone in need' policy. This paired with the fact that few people know the true scope of his abilities could easily land him in some deep water.

//Skills:
Combat Expertise | Military trained in weapons and hand to hand combat, familiar with street fighting tactics from years of homelessness.
Medical Training | Surgical graduate of NYC medical school with a decade of working experience.
Multi-lingual | Fluent in Italian, English, Korean, and German; though the latter two are heavily accented.

Supporting Cast

Maria Sinclair | Female/22
A volunteer 'nurse' that helps out at the clinic. Once a homeless pregnant teen with a meth habit, Mauro helped her get clean and has allowed her to keep a cot in the back offices in exchange for her help.

Don Malcolm | Male/44
Mauro's only real connection in the legal medical profession, former classmates at NYU. Don works in Santa Celia's Stadler Medical Hospital and frequently bends the rules in order to supply his friend with supplies for his clinic. It was Don who found and saved Mauro at his lowest point, they had an affair for a short time, and though it ended abruptly they remain close as ever.

Desiree Malcolm | Female/43
Don's wife, also a former classmate of Mauro's at NYU, a close friend.

Appearance Details
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Nikita has long hair with thin, blunt bangs. Her hair is left uncolored and any experimentation with her appearance is typically done through makeup. Her foundation shade would describe her skin tone as "Sand" or "Honey" most often. She has wider hips and more muscular thighs with a smaller waist and thinner, weaker arms. Committed to neither health nor fitness, her figure is maintained through partying and eating various foods inconsistently. During weekdays, Nikita will typically be seen in either her scrubs, athleisure, or jeans and a casual top. On weekends, she'll typically be wearing lounge clothes or club/rave wear. Her closet is not incredibly varied and doesn't belong to a specific style. She typically wears sneakers in various styles.

Personality
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Typically calm and even friendly, Nikita is known for spitting her words with an acidic tongue when upset. Nikita hides in the open. She converses with most and has many acquaintances who are pleased to see her when she is present. She doesn't have a lot of people she is incredibly close with, or who frequently visit or make plans with her outside of their schedule. This is comfortable for her and has even helped her maintain a secure sense of privacy. No one tries to get closer than they already are and Nikita guards her secrets that much easier because of it.

Nikita is empathetic and can often see from both points of view. She doesn't always believe in lawful "right" and "wrong" and feels that morals and empathy should be a bigger guiding force in society. Nikita is always interested in observing how people think, process and feel.
Character Synopsis
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Nikita was always much closer to Ezekiel, "Eze" affectionately than she was to their older brother, Lupe. It was when Ezekiel was trying to teach her to snap that she first caused a small flame. Startled, she'd frantically shook her hand until the flame disappeared. The two inspected her hand to find a surprising lack of burns or even irritation. It was a secret kept between the two for years. Iris, their mother, was constantly working and their father had left before Nikita was born. Lupe, the oldest, was kept busy between high school, sports and working part-time. The youngest two were left to take care of each other.

As Lupe earned his diploma, Ezekiel started attending school less and was coming home later. Iris waited up late to spend hours arguing with him, Nikita spoke less and observed more. During one of their arguments, Ezekiel slammed more money than Nikita had ever seen her mother bring home onto the table. Her mother's voice had cracked and all the yelling subsided into defeated sobs. Ezekiel brushed past Iris while shaking his head in his hoodie.

After Lupe learned the news, he stood from breakfast one morning to announce that he'd be starting at the local police academy in the next few weeks. Ezekiel laughed to himself before looking to Lupe and accusing him of turning his back on the family for his own benefit. Lupe left from the kitchen. Nikita demanded to know what was going on and Iris and Ezekiel finished their meal in silence.

In the following months, the divide in their family grew more apparent. Lupe was no longer home and Nikita realized where Ezekiel was spending his long nights out and with who. Despite Nikita's pleas, their mother did nothing. During the holidays, Lupe had come to visit. Ezekiel didn't make it in until the early morning. He hadn't attended school at all since it had started in the months prior. Nikita was at her boiling point. Ezekiel met her eyes, hoodie pulled up over his head and Nikita unleashed on the entire family. She screamed at Ezekiel for ruining his life and trading his family for streets. She hounded Lupe for leaving the family in shreds. Mostly, she tore into her mother for turning a blind eye as long as Ezekiel was bringing some extra money in. Her entire body trembled. She hadn't realized but in the commotion, she'd hit her hands together, rubbed her temples, flung her fist into her palm. Her top half was ablaze in their living room now, brighter than a Christmas tree.

Ezekiel hung his head and Lupe stared at her, unable to process what he was seeing. Her mother was horrified, she crawled back against the couch. "Un demonio," she choked.

Nikita's breath caught. "No, madre. No soy-"

Iris cut her off before she could finish. "Sí. Estas malito," she whimpered. She confessed to Nikita that she was born of sin. That Iris had an affair with a white man while married to her husband and it was he who impregnated her with Nikita. When the boys' father found out, he left. Now, she had brought evil into their family and her daughter was the vessel that carried it.

Nikita's flames diminished. She felt as though she couldn't breathe. She knew better than to believe that these abilities were atonement for a sin she hadn't committed, but this confession had shaken her. Iris commanded that they repent. She drug her to church in the night and Iris prayed for hours in an empty cathedral, Nikita and her brothers only present physically.

For the next few years, Lupe worked in the police force and attended school. The department reimbursed most of his tuition and when he finished college, Nikita was finishing up high school. She worked as receptionist for a vet clinic in the white area of town part time and wasn't allowed to leave the house other than for school or work. She was able to obtain her certification through the vet clinic and it was nearly a year after Lupe had finished his degree when he was at the house with Nikita smoking a cigarette outside.

She allowed him to light her cigarette, as she had lost her lighter and never even caused sparks her mother was home. He shook his head in disappointment but finally stated, "I'm moving."

"What?"

"They want me to become a homicide detective. I've got an offer here and I've got an offer in Esteredge," he explained, watching the ash fall from his cigarette.

"Then why aren't you staying here?" Nikita demanded. She took a drag off her cigarette to try to calm her nerves.

"I'm surprised I've yet to cross paths with Eze in the streets. I think this is a good opportunity to eliminate that possibility. I think I could use a change in scenery."

Nikita shifted her lower jaw from side to side, doing all she could to keep from gritting her teeth. She stopped smoking and stared at the cigarette as if she were searching for what to say. She came up blank and took another long drag instead and stared out at their yard.

"I've told Eze already. I know that you and mom are at ends here. We discussed it, and we think it would better to move you to a more populated area. Somewhere you could be safe and maybe make a life for yourself," he added. Finally, he took a second drag off his cigarette.

She swiveled her head to look at him. "You want me to come all the way to Espermont? So I can be in a little city and hide out?" she scoffed. Annoyed, she puffed at her cigarette a bit faster.

"Not Espermont. Santa Celia," Lupe finally admitted.

Nikita dropped the cigarette. She looked down and watched it burn red in the green grass before twisting her shoe on top of it. She knew at this point that this was no longer suggestion. She couldn't remember the last time Ezekiel had brought money home. She now realized that he and Lupe had decided that Winters was no longer to be her home and she wasn't going to have any choice in the matter. She also knew she couldn't make it another year suffocated by her mother while she figured it out.

In the following days, she and her few belongings were packed into Lupe's SUV and transported to Santa Celia. The apartment was pre-furnished and the nicest complex in the area, far nicer than anywhere she'd expected to live but not nice enough to be considered affluent. She was able to quickly find work as a technician in a local veterinary office/hospital. Lupe came to visit her fairly frequently and she almost never heard from Iris. Ezekiel checked in here and there, always made sure to ask if she had the money she needed. Lupe advised her to come across as normal as possible.

Since moving to the city four years ago, Nikita has made little progress in her personal life. She pays her bills, stays in the same apartment. She's purchased a car. She goes out frequently and she's friendly to everyone but has maintained her secret.

Abilities & Skills
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
//Abiliites:
Superhuman Ability | Pyrokinesis: Nikita can manipulate flames and fires around her and use them to incinerate objects or beings. She can grow or extinguish them. Additionally, she can create fires to manipulate and use to defeat enemies. She can easily ignite objects with a touch. She is also fire resistant.

Limitation(s) | To start a fire, Nikita will need to create friction against her skin with nothing else but her skin. Unlike a match, she cannot use rough surfaces or other skin. If pinned, immobilized or weak, Nikita will not be able to create a fire. In the instance that Nikita is under heavy influence of alcohol or drugs she will not be able to maintain control over the flames and they will grow or die as they would without her interference. Any fires will also be limited by oxygen availability and environmental conditions. Fire does not burn hot enough to melt steel, it caps at around 525 Celsius which can cause severe damage but is not hot enough to melt metals.

While Nikita is fire resistant, she is not fire proof. If a flame is hotter than Nikita’s highest attainable temperature she will receive significant second and third degree burns. Nikita’s endurance varies depending on frequency and intensity. If Nikita is to use large, intense flames, in a consistent manner she won’t last much more than an hour. Flames the size of her palm and smaller she can generate as needed. Manipulating flames requires much less energy than generating and maintaining them.

Weakness(es) | Pyrokinesis is Nikita's only ability. She sustains wounds and heals as any human would. She does not posses any increased strength. Any combat abilities are limited to that of the average person in a street fight as she lacks any kind of training. She has never needed a weapon so she has no experience with them. She is also hesitant to handle them.

//Skills:
Friendly | Nikita has the capability to put most people at ease and even make them feel like she sees them as a friend. It's a skill she has developed since moving to Santa Celia by frequently being in public settings without a known colleague in sight. She usually can promote a sense of trust in those she meets.

Bilingual | Nikita was taught both English and Spanish, but living in a predominantly white area meant that Spanish was mostly used in the company of family and a few friends. Her geographic location probably kept her from English being her second language instead of her primary language but it does still enable her to code switch when convenient.
