@BangoSkank Is it anything like DoS2 or Pillars of Eternity?

It's made by the folks who made DoS2 so yep. Similar presentation, similar party. D&D classes and races and world.

Watch a video or two on it. I don't know shit all about D&D, as anyone who has played it with me can attest, and I still took to it pretty quick.

Same engine and principal design as Divinity Original Sin, so in that wheelhouse, like Bango said, but with D&D as a foundation than the always-changing-never-consistent world of Divinity. It's pretty smooth and most of the first "level" is finished so a lot of us are waiting for the other areas at this point. And yes, it's voice acted. Same design principles as Divinity OS 1+2. The characters, IMO, leave a lot to be desired but they still have a lot of intriguing aspects to their backstory, though I only really like one of them so far.

Gale, the Wizard. Astarion is the character I probably dislike the most.

Gotta say this year is shaping up to be a good one for JRPG/RPG games, I'm hyped for the full drop of some roguelike RPGs on the Switch.

I think I like Astarion mostly just because I'm curious what his deal is. Might like Gale better next time. Don't think I had him in my party but he does look cool as fuck in promotional materials

I also recommend checking out Solasta, its a bit more low budget but it has a lot of heart for a game trying to be successful the same time as games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Wrath of the Righetous which also have a lot more marketing.

Okay I cannot stop playing Loop Hero, it is another fucking slam dunk for Devolver they know how to make a solid roguelike game especially one with an actually good narrative. I can't recommend this enough if you are a fan of the roguelike genre.

Cities Skyline has soaked up like 95% of my video gaming time, so that's me lately. With everyone playing Rise, that'll probably change soon.

Monster Hunter Rise? If so I'm hesitant to purchase the upcoming DLC, I know whinging about "I don't wanna pay $ for extra mechanics & monsters" is a little silly but I don't want to have to pay for mechanics that should already be in the damn game.

DLC for G-Rank is a good thing though, because the MH team has never thought that G-Rank should be in the base game. Starting all the way back in 2005 they have been releasing the G-Rank expansions as completely separate games, full retail price, which continued until Iceborne. If they continued the trend then Sunbreak would be a separate game for full price. I guess some might prefer it that way, since skipping the base game and just buying the G-Rank version saves more money than base+DLC, but the release model they had before was always something I saw the community complain about so they "fixed" it.

Is it fun? And did you enjoy selling your credit card info to Epic Games Store's bad security system?

Joke's on them, I got the PS5 version in the holiday sale.

And like I mean it's fine? The shooting is fine and I can send an alligator to kill people and it'll never die because of 'reptile genetics' but like it's a little weird how the game opens with Gus Fring being all fascist and the player and pals escaping from military police rounding up people for death squads and murdering them in the street only to then 10 minutes later talk to a drunk guy who tells you how to kill with a crocodile and also mercilessly slaughter like a dozen of those same military police as you rob them of uranium and resources to put a scope on your rifle and make bullets that pop heads 5 percent better all while characters are in your ear talking about how the revolution is happening and how bad fascism is.

Is it more engaging than the last Far Cry? Because that's what I've heard around the water cooler.

I will admit Sunbreak is giving me heavy gothic vibes and it fucking tempts me to concede to my reservations on buying into the DLC.
