What shows/movies are you watching?

Cocaine Bear looked ok but I'm not much of a fan of the director. I'll probably wait until it's free on whatever streaming site. I haven't actually seen any reviews for it.

I kind of want to see it myself but I rarely go to the theaters these days. Might just do the same, honestly. Especially from what I've heard people say about the film.

Anyway, as for me: Once again continuing my Marvel rewatch. Close to the 2nd Avengers movie, but I still need to plow through like 2-3 more seasons of TV shows before I get there. Just started season 2 of Agents of SHIELD right after finishing Daredevil last night.

Creed 3 was totally fine, nothing great, nothing bad, but people suggesting it as some live action anime shit are lying to you.

Finished the MCU grind. At least, the movies and not so much the TV shows. I figured that I'd rather go see Ant Man 3 while it was in theaters instead of waiting for it to release on Disney+. That said I had to skip the Spider-Man movies temporarily, mainly because they're not on Disney+ like the rest of the MCU films, so I need to eventually get around to that.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was incredibly eh. It's a movie where the actors try to salvage a script from a screenwriter who was not up to the task of going from cartoon sitcom to movie.

Saw Quantumania and thought it was fine if pretty mediocre and gutless. Doesn't take any risks, has no stakes, shot pretty blandly and there's this awful filter over the actors to make them fit in with the bad CGI background and foreground. Michelle and John were great in it, but that's really all I can say about it.

I agree, tbh. The writing felt stiff and at times the CGI green screen is painfully obvious to the human eye. And then there's things like Murray's character just being there for one scene and never seen again. But otherwise I still found it at least serviceable enough to work as an entry into the MCU. It wasn't Eternals 2.0 for me by any means.

Then again I like Newton and the Ant-Man series in general so I may be slightly more biased here than normal.

NGL I would've preferred that ending, honestly. I kind of felt that was what they were going to go for, with the two having to stay back to ensure Kang doesn't escape through the portal. Even if it retread ground the Ant-Man series had already touched (that is, being stuck in the Quantum Realm), it still feels like a better ending than what we got. Plus it would give Cassie a chance to evolve more into a character herself and having to take up her dad's mantle as a superhero or something along those lines.

Honestly I forgot s3 even dropped, I saw posts about the first s3 episode dropping on D+ but I kind of forgot about the whole thing lol

Both AntMan endings sound terrible. Granted I haven't seen it but...

Endings

AntMan hasn't been around long enough for a big sacrifice ending
His daughter isn't enough of a character for me to care about her taking up the mantle
The character/mantle swap idea is way overused
That would have worked better with Iron Man and his daughter, here it would be forced

A better ending would be his daughter choosing to trap herself in the Quantum Zone, maybe with old lady Quantum Vet, to prevent Kang from leaving. AntMan being decimated that he can't get himself back in there to get her back out. Setting up a reason for him to be more in the fight, more vicious, more skin in the game in the coming movies. They must win. Banner and whoever must get back in there. He can't let his daughter be lost.

Have her/Kang in some post credits scenes. Maybe extended ones showing what she's doing while she's trapped out there. Have her be a fundamentally changed person when AntMan finally finds her.
