Jack Hudson

Location: Inner Gate ---> Outer Gate

Jack stopped pushing the wheelchair once they reached the outer gate, nodding at Tatiana as she said they could wait there. There couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes left until James would have to be out of Newnan. A small army seemed to have come to say goodbye as well, with more and more people walking through the Inner Gate and heading for the Outer Gate. He let Tatiana take his hand, finger by finger, and pull him around, before finally resting his hand on her belly.

"I sure hope so, solovey," Jack replied, tears welling up in his eyes. He didn't have the best father growing up and hardly ever saw the man, a man who insisted on naming his first son after himself, Charles. "And you're already the best mothah evah," Jack then said in turn, grinning at his wife. He knew it was too soon to expect to be able to feel a kick from the baby or anything, but it was still amazing to rest his hand on his wife's belly and just know the baby was in there. The world was insane but this little part, it felt normal. It grounded him.

He could only hope that it was helping Tatiana similarly. The next few hours were going to be difficult, to say the least, with James leaving Newnan. James wasn't just a friend to Tatiana--he was family. "We could name the kid aftah him, aftah James," Jack mentioned, smiling at his wife. His tone made it clear it was a suggestion, as he didn't want to be like his dad and boss Tatiana around. Hell, he'd be just as happy if the kids had Russian names that he had to struggle to pronounce--those perhaps avoiding R's would be a good idea.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Building 6 (the Armory)

Beatrice chuckled slightly at Ryan's comment, though there was a hint of a smile on her face. James, Ryan, and Tiffany were her only friends in Newnan and it looked like she'd be leaving with most of them. She doubted Tiffany would come as well and she wouldn't want her to try to anyways. She doubted she'd have the patience to be around Tiffany and her boy toy 24/7. At least in Newnan, she was able to get away from the lovey dovey couple whenever she felt the need to. Outside of the walls, wandering off wouldn't be too easy.

"Poor James, stuck with the pair of us," Beatrice quipped, her tone as serious and straight as always. It was her style of humor--as dry as a desert, perhaps even more so.

She headed into the armory with Jim and received her old 9mm, along with some ammo. The gun felt almost just like she remembered it in her hand, with the weight of it a bit odd to hold. But she didn't pay much attention to the near nostalgia and left the armory with Jim, tossing her gear into the back of the truck as instructed. This was likely the last time she would ever see this place, the last time she would be able to sleep with a sense of security. But knowing that Ryan would be leaving Newnan with her as well was comforting--there was strength in numbers.

Maybe they'd last more than a few weeks, even.

Beatrice hopped into the truck, nodding at Ryan as he held the door open for her and got herself settled. She doubted that the goodbyes with James would be quick, knowing how many people in Newnan that cared for him. After a few not so subtle reminders to speed things up, maybe people would be able to restrain themselves. "Does James know you're leaving with him?" Beatrice asked Ryan.

Chloe Ridgeway

Location: Inner Gate ---> Outer Gate

Chloe didn't need to ponder for an instant when Riley asked her if she ever wondered what happened to the rest of their family. "I hope they all died," Chloe said bitterly. "Painfully," she then added. It was no secret that the Ridgeways didn't have the best family. Their parents were Bible thumpers who fed off of hate and their brother wasn't much better. The moment she was arrested, they disowned Chloe just as they disowned Riley a few years back. They saw Chloe's addiction and Riley's sexuality as moral failings.

Hell, the only other family members that Chloe didn't wish dead were some cousins she never met and Riley, of course. In many ways, she felt like the outbreak was giving her parents what was coming to them all along.

But as they passed through the inner gate and continued on south towards the outer gate, Chloe tried to keep herself from thinking back on their family. It was better to focus on Amelia and Riley's conversation, about whether or not people would be leaving with James. Chloe could see some people heading with him from agriculture, but she also understood Amelia's fears of them becoming vulnerable to Eden's attacks. "New people will come and fill in the holes," Chloe said, drawing again on her experiences in prison. The head of the kitchen would get parole and yeah, the food was even shittier than normal for the next few weeks, but everything went back to normal eventually.

"And we've got Irish here, he knows Eden like the back of his hand," Chloe then added. "With him around, I think we'll be pretty safe."

Ravi Chakrabarti

Location: Inner Gate ---> Outer Gate

"Thank you," Ravi replied, feeling a bit crestfallen. He hadn't considered the fact that Newnan might not be trained enough to taken down Peachtree City, though in hindsight it made sense. If they had had the strength for it, they likely would've done it by now. Ravi had just been so impressed by the settlement that he assumed they'd have the strength for it. But he didn't regret asking, however, not one bit. He loved Gavin dearly like a brother and didn't want him to do this alone.

And speak of the devil, the blimey scoundrel was walking down the street not too far in front of them. Ravi nodded again at Miss Sally's words, knowing that she was right. The most Gavin would allow Ravi to do for him would be moral support. That had been his role in this friendship, aside from medical care and the likes for whenever the cowboy got injured. "You're right about that--his mouth runs like water sometimes," Ravi joked with a good natured smile. He hoped that his best mate would ask for some help, he really did. But at the same time, he wouldn't have been too surprised if he didn't.

"And thank you again, Miss Sally," Ravi added, having been raised to be as polite as he was pretty (which was extremely, of course, in Ravi's mind). "I just wish there was more I could do to help him." Gavin was the closest thing to family he had left. He was all Ravi had. Everyone else he knew was long gone.

Tiffany Lyle

Building B(1) (Franklin Wall Beni & Peaches' Apartment) -> Building C (Franklin Wall Women's Housing) -> Towards Gate

They left Beni's place and made their way to the Franklin women's home. That was the last place, if she did her math correctly. Should be easy and then they could meet with the others to see James off. Ray's words rang true. Surely they wouldn't send James without much help. For whatever reason he had, James was a good person. Richard was an ass and she wouldn't miss him all that much, but she would miss James.

Once Ray and her got to the house she informed the Franklin women of what happened, offered words of encouragement, and left them to their grief (or lack thereof depending). She kissed Ray back and nodded her agreement, "Yeah, I would like to see him off. If for nothing else than to let him know he has people wishing him the best. That helps. It's not food or water or a gun, but knowing you have people that want the best for you, even if you can't see them, helps." She held Ray's arm as they walked towards the gate to see James off. She hoped they wouldn't be late.

Ash Holloway

Location: Building A (Ash's House) -> Inner Gate

Ash closed his eyes and leaned into Thana's kiss, feeling the heat of her breath dance across his cheek. He knew it would be the last piece of warmth and affection that didn't come with the price of guilt he would feel for a while yet, and so accepted it like the last meal of a condemned man; with gratitude, and struggling to remember every aspect of it after it was done. He too pulled on his cap, a grey patrol cap common among the ranks of the U.S. Army. This particular one held one his rank insignia, the two bars that identified him as a Captain, once upon a time.

The outward demeanor of the man hardened back into the soldier that most everyone in Newnan was accustomed to seeing. It was a comforting side to him, in its own way. Professional, smart, capable. Able to make the hard choices. Ash set his expression as stone and continued out, into the colder air of the morning.

Coming to match pace with Thana, he had just come up alongside her when his radio addressed him. Specifically him, point of fact, informing that another Newnanite was leaving with James. It wasn't totally unexpected, but the combination of people leaving? James, Ryan, and Beatrice. They seemed unlikely allies, though he had noticed that Beatrice and James did tend to get along. Then again, James tended to get along with most everyone. It raised questions for which Ash would likely never get the answers.

"Yeah, he's got company." Ash said with a flat tone. He was grateful to them, to a degree, that they wouldn't let his friend go alone. "And James was living for a long time out away from people, doing what he does, before the Dead took over. A fair time after, too. You should have seen him when he first showed up at our gates. Hell of a sight." Ash was reminiscing wistfully, true, but part of him was also trying to reassure himself that James would be okay. He didn't fully believe it, though, no matter how much he wanted to.

As they neared the Inner Gate, Ash clicked on his radio to give a broad, city-wide address. "We have fifteen minutes, more or less, left to give James our best wishes. Anyone who wants to may come to the Main Gate at this time, regardless of duty. If you are working an essential position or security, make sure someone covers your duties. That is all."

Black James(!)

Location: Agriculture -> Headed toward Outer Gate

James took Gavin's hand and gave it a firm shake. He wasn't the type to try and overpower a man with a greeting or sign of trust like many rednecks he'd grown up with, but he did give the honest impression that had formidable Handshake Game, even among native Texans. Strong, yet respectful. As the tall man left the Agriculture Storage building, James gave some consideration to where he would immediately go, following their departure from Newnan. Would Gavin want to hit Eden immediately? Or would they set up someplace and find a way in? Whatever worked for him, James guessed. He was expecting to die that morning, anyway.

With mixed emotions, James walked out of storage. He could see Kristina at a short distance, and felt a little guilty. He had essentially just blown her off to talk to someone he'd just met, from what he guessed her point of view was. He began to jog over to her across Agriculture, calling, "Hey, Kris! Hey there, Kris!" Hopefully, he wasn't putting too much of a strain on his escort. Though in his defense, it would be the last opportunity he would have to do so. By the time he had gotten up to her, he was just a hair winded. Better shape than last year, for certain, but he still greatly disliked running. "Kristina, hon... You wanna walk me down?"

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

Thalia never would understand Lola's extremely open and cavalier nature involving new people. Granted, a single person slogging aimlessly through the snow muttering about coffee was comparatively less dangerous looking than other situations, but the principle remained the same. At least she had the good sense not to give away her position, hidden alongside the tank as she was. She shifted position to try and get a better vantage on the situation, wanting to hear what the man had to say before deciding to either remain hidden or make herself known.

As the man started talking, Thalia stood listening with a practiced ear. He wasn't giving off the markers of a man stalling, though he was repeating himself a bit. Perhaps the surprise of seeing someone in a recliner packing a submachine gun on top of a piece of refitted WWII era mobile armor does that to some people. Thalia couldn't exactly see her own face when she first saw the tank, but she probably didn't look nonchalant. Okay, she could relax some. If nothing else, the guy was alone. The two of them could handle a single guy, half numbed by the snow.

Stepping from behind the tread, Thalia announced her presence with a sardonic, "If this guy thanks you for not shooting him one more time, I swear, I'm going to shoot him." Words notwithstanding, as Thalia said this she was holstering her 9mm. The tall spear remained present, as did the hint of a hilt peeking from the back of her fitting leather jacket, but the more immediate possibility of grievous, firearm inflicted damage was tucked firmly away. My name is Thalia, Angel to my friends." she began, light Boston accent coloring her vowels. "Used to be a Security Specialist with MSS, back before. We got some water heating up, but first..." She narrowed her eyes at the man and turned her head to the side, looking him over, "You got any friends out there we should know about?"

Amelia Payne

Location: Inner Gate ---> Outer Gate

“True...” Amelia replied making a thinking expression as she pondered Chloe's statement. They did have someone who knew Eden rather well, they had weapons and decently good defensive position, but it didn't make her feel as secure as she wished. What if Eden had scouts posted and just wait for moment of weakness or any chance that presents itself? Well that wasn't as likely she then realized at this very moment. No one would willingly venture out in the winter and snow just for that. They didn't have places to go really, so Newnan would be here any time Eden shows up.” I guess we better focus on the good things that happened and will happen from now on.” She mumbled, trying to focus her mind on the task. She wanted to send of James with a wide smile, hoping to assure him everything will be fine.

When the wide city message from Ash came, it was just the next reminder that she'd lose another friend today after all. She just sighed, doing mental preparation for the moment James leaves. Somehow the closer the time got, harder it became for her to convince herself that she'd be able to send him off with a smile.' Get a grip of yourself!' She thought, slightly bitting her lower lip for a moment.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: The Inner Gate -> The Outer Gate

Riley looked over towards Chloe for a moment as she answered her question, and gave her a slight smile she didn't really even care about her family aside from Chloe of course, and their two British cousins having met them about once or twice while she was touring around Europe. It was probably the only time that she would actually wish that someone died very painfully, having just to live in her car through the last year of high school was tough. And their younger brother who was pretty much a huge pain in their asses, and truly the spoiled brat of the family.

"I'm pretty sure that their shambling corpses walking all around Grimm now." Riley said softly as they made their way towards the outer gate gate, she looked around seeing the people making their way over towards the gates as well. Sighing slightly as they walked together, she did agree with her sister that their would most likely be new people who were actually good and genuine. "I'm pretty sure James will be fine out there as well, he is the backwoods legend around the area to." Riley then heard the town wide radio going off, it was about fifteen minutes before James would leave.

"Everything will be alright Amelia." Riley said as she tried to reassure her and reached over to gently hold onto Amelia's hand looking over at her and gave her a loving and soft smile towards her as she gently ran a hand through Amelia's hair, looking back towards Chloe mentioning Ryan and Eden as well. Luckily she didn't bump into them at all that day when she came to Franklin, luckily their were husks of abandoned cars that she used as hiding places and they didn't find her before making it to Newnan. "He does know pretty much how they operate as well to." Riley added.

Raymond Mendoza

Location: Headed Towards the Inner Wall

Raymond looked over his shoulder as he saw some of the Franklin people leaving their homes as well and started to make their way towards the main gate. It was still pretty surprising that there was so many people that were leaving their homes, or jobs to see and say goodbye to James. Though he did wish that he had the time to try and get to know the man a bit better, they did talk every now and then and when they weren't busy at all. "I think its good to know that he at least know that he has some friends that are there to say good bye to him." Raymond said softly.

They walked through the Franklin Gate and smiled when Tiffany returned the kiss and wrapped her arm around his, grateful for the support as they walked together. Raymond made a note to also just get a little bit of horseback riding in at some point during the day as well, knowing that Cadence needed to get a little running around for some exercise as well. Raymond then heard the announcement from Ash they had about fifteen minutes to kill before James had to leave town.

Kristina Smith

Location: Agriculture -> Outer Gate

Kristina continued to brush one of the horses, when she heard Gavin's voice she turned her head around slightly to face him and gave him a slight nod. It still did bother her quiet a bit, she was just simply brushed off by the man but she wasn't sure what they were talking about either. When he left Kristina continued to tend to the horses, since their meeting was over now she could get ready and feed the horses now and go about her duties with feeding and changing the animal's pens. Then Kristina turned her head around when she heard James calling out her name a few times.

It would probably end up being the very last time that she would be able to hear James calling out her name and working alongside him, she gave the horse a few more brushes when James finally did catch up with her in the stables. She smiled softly and nodded towards him, she wanted to at least spend a few more minutes with him alone before he left. "Of course I do." Kristina said with a sad smile, letting out a slight sigh as she set down the brush and gave the horse a gentle pat on the nose. Seeing him out of breath from all that running, it was a bit harder to run through due to the snow but it wasn't that far of a run at least to her.

"Shall we then?" Kris said softly as she left the stables, and trudged through the deep melting snow rubbing her arms slightly as she walked towards the gate looking back towards James. Kristina wasn't sure what to actually say to him, she wasn't mad at all for what he had done to Richard, the man did have that coming to him at some point.

Meghna Kumar

Location: Building H (Vacant) -> Outer Gate

Meghna continued to make sure that the floors were as clean as possible, as she did the last of the cleaning in the kitchen Meg knew she would have to get a new set of bedsheets as well since she had taken the bedsheets off of Bryn and Sana's beds to wrap them up. Meg walked over towards the sink and started to wash her hands clean of their blood off of her hands. Meg leaned forward slightly taking a few deep breaths as she stood up. She knew that she would need some help digging up some graves for their former friends, death wasn't a common thing anymore, but it was still pretty hard for her to see and deal with.

Meg heard Ashton's announcement going off over the radio, she needed to say goodbye to James it would probably be the last time that she would ever see her friend again. She knew that some of the other domestic members would be there as well, and would need to ask their help with making their graves. Meghna turned and started to leave the house behind her, and slowly started to make her way through the snow noticing all of the people who were going there as well.

Lola Holler

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

"No problem there mate, waste of fucking bullets if ya friendly," Lola said as she flopped down in her recliner and spun around with her gun resting in her lap. Spinning around to face him she tilted her head to the side a bit. "Hell fuck yeah it's mine. This be my baby! No going no damn where without him," she said reaching over and patting the over decorated tank a bit as if she was patting a dog. It was no secret Lola loved her tank, to her it was the best companion she could have. Protected her, gave her a place to sleep, a way to get around, and never strayed! Fuck yeah, better than any man she had ever run across.

Glancing over out of the corner of her eye as Thalia made herself known she burst out laughing. The girl had a way of making herself known that was for sure. Granted Lola figured she could have gone for a much more dramatic entrance but the woman was a tad reserved in Lola's eyes. (Then again, Ru Paul was understated in her eyes as well.) "Oh leave the old coot alone. I don't thinks we gotta be worrying about damn brigade of geriatrics marching on us in the snow," she sniggered as she stood back up and pointed over to the side of the tank.

"Alright Gramps, up this way and come over by me grill. Warms up a bit. Lets see if we can thaw yas out and get some coffee in ya," she said as she picked up her MRE pack and started rummaging through it. "Not sharing my cocoa though, a womans mini marshmallows are damned right sacred!" she spouted off, not even paying attention at this point. "Times have changed and we've often rewound the clock. Since the Puritans got a shock when they landed on Plymouth Rock. If today any shock they should try to stem, 'stead of landing on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock would land on them. In olden days, a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking. But now, God knows, anything goes," she sang, blurting out into random Cole Porter song as her feet tapped away.

Gavin Comfort

Location: Outer Gate

Gavin dropped his gear by the front gate and leaned back against the wall, one foot propped up underneath him as he crossed his arms over his chest. His duster brushing against the snow at his feet as his cowboy hat blocked the sunlight from his eyes. Looking about he waved slightly at Ravi as he spotted him with Miss Sally. Seemed he was coming by to say his goodbyes, or at least escorting Miss Sally to say goodbye to James. Either way, it was nice to see him again before he set out. Ravi was like a brother to him, closest thing he had to one.

He was glad they had found some place for him to stay while he tried to deal with Peachtree City, or Eden as James called it. It wasn't that he wouldn't have liked to keep Ravi close by but he knew the mans outlook on killing people and didn't want him to become a casualty. He was half surprised that they both were still kicking right then, there were plenty of times that Gavin's way of jumping into things half cocked could have easily gotten them killed. It hadn't and this time Gavin had a feeling in his gut he wasn't coming back. Least with Ravi here he knew there was one person he could trust to be there for Strawberry Wine.

Resting his head back on the wall he let out a long breath as he thought back to Thana, smiling to himself thinking about running into her at that run down bar. Sitting there in a pair of jeans and white button down shirt. He had walked in with his boys from the Rangers and stopped in his tracks when he saw her. He had brushed off his buds to walk right over to her, introduced himself, and asked her to dance. She had just looked at him, a slight smile on her lips, and said No. That of course didn't stop him, one look at her eyes and he was hooked. He pestered her all night and still didn't get that dance. When she left the bar he tried again just to get her name. "Lt. Commander Martin," she had said brushing passed him and leaving him there. He had never been happier than he was the next day to find her among the relief workers the next day helping out. Took another three weeks of trying but he eventually got that dance... Strawberry Wine.

Miss Sally nodded slightly towards Gavin as she spotted the wave. "Maybe one day you will, for now, go on and say your goodbyes," she said before spotting Thana coming up with Ash by her side. "Before he lays his eyes on her again," she teased. Shaking her head she let go Ravi's arm and thanked him for walking her out there. Turning and looking over at Ash, giving him a slight nod before she started looking for James.

Thana Martin

Location: Inner Gate -> Outer Gate

"He is a survivor Captain," Thana commented before Ash made his radio call out to the people of Newnan. Shoving her hands into her pockets she kept walking towards the Outer Gate. Hopefully thing would go smoothly and this would be over and done with quickly. The longer it took to say goodbye, the higher chance of something going wrong. She doubted anyone in the town, especially Ash, needed the added stress of something going even worse off than it already had.

Spotting Miss Sally giving a slight nod in their direction she figured it was for Ash. She didn't know the woman. Her eyes darted around from person to person that had or was still making their way over to the gate. Seemed like a crowd was growing and at first she didn't see Gavin, half figuring whatever he was doing or going had already put him on the other side of the gate. Yet then she spotted his cowboy hat. He was taller than probably everyone in town by a good few inches, most in town by a good half a foot, so he stood out. The hat and duster didn't help.

She grunted inwardly. Hopefully he wouldn't cause another scene. Not that he had meant to earlier but Gavin was all about saying exactly what was on his mind and/or heart when he spoke. That was the last thing she needed right then, especially after what went down between her and Ash just a few minutes before. Thana wasn't one to let on how she felt about people in public, at least not outwardly with showing affection or announcing intentions but damn it, if Gavin started in again she knew she would have to say something and that was the last thing she wanted to do right then. Not that she cared if anyone knew that her and Ash were now together but to announce it as James was leaving after only knowing each other a day just to get Gavin to back off... That wasn't how she wanted to go about it. Shit, if Gavin found out he might stay and try to court her again... Fucking hell...

Tatiana Korvo

Location: Outer Gate

Tatiana smiled over at Jack and nodded. "Dat is good name, you tell him. James for a boy, Jamie for girl," she said with a bright smile as she leaned in and kissed him softly. Reaching up she rested her hand on his cheek and just gazed at her husband for a minute. He always seemed to know exactly what to say to make her feel better about things, even if it was totally off topic. He just made everything better to her.

Glancing around she took note of who all was showing up and who wasn't. Seemed most were headed out there, some remaining behind she figured needed to take care of things to keep the town running. There wasn't exactly a procedure for how they said goodbye to someone getting exiled. This was a first. Hopefully it would be the last.

Waving slightly as she spotted Froggy and Niesha coming up to the crowd she smiled to them. Seem Niesha had a pack. It didn't look large enough to be her personal things. Must had been something she had put together for James before he left. Froggy waved back and nudged Niesha slightly. "You are welcome. Now, soon as James arrives over here, we can say our goodbyes," he said as he let out a breath and pulled out a worn card box. He enjoyed playing cards when he was talking to people, usually GoFish. Had spent many a night asking if anyone had any sixes. It was his little something to say goodbye with.

Ryan O'Reily

Location: Armory (Building 6) -> Outer Gate

"Yeah, with us two, he's screwed," Ryan laughed as he climbed in after Beatrice and closed the door. Jim rolled his eyes a bit as he started up the truck and headed out. Driving the truck towards the front gate and then the outer gate. Being careful to avoid anyone that was walking to the outer gate to say goodbye to James.

"I don't think he does but Bossman knows you two are leaving. Guess we will surprise him when we get there," Jim said in passing and gave Ash a nod as they came up to the gate. Turning off the engine, having parked the truck at the gate he climbed out and handed the keys over to Ash. "It's all packed up Boss, and they have their things as well," he said motioning over towards Beatrice and Ryan.

Ryan climbed out of the truck and looked around. Stepping over to Ash, Irish smirked a bit "Looks like yer finally rid of me," he chuckled before leaning against the truck and looking over the crowd. Then he spotted Chloe and sighed. "God-damnit," he muttered under his breath. He had thought about her making her way to the gate to say goodby to James but of course she would. Everyone, well nearly everyone, was there to say goodbye.

Alexander Polawski

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

Alexander's ear registered something sturring behind him, and turned around to see another woman coming into view, talking to him with a tone of mockery in regards to him repeating himself. The old man calmly looked at the other woman, smiling sheepishly. "Just surprised to see friendly faces, that's all. I'll try to not repeat myself too much." Alexander said to her, his eyes noticing the sidearm she holstered as she spoke. Neither of them were pointing guns at him, which was a good sign. Perhaps it wasn't Alexander's time to kick the bucket yet after all?

The woman who intruced herself as Thalia, continued to tell him her previous occupation - presumably before the world went to Hell, nobody used a title like that now probably -, before she asked him if he had 'any friends' out there. Her eyes looked at him as if she was searching for something on him, or in him. Perhaps she was really good at seeing if people were lying or not? But before Alexander could answer, Lola interupted Thalia from her interrogation, though he wished she could given him some other name than "the old coot". But he guessed he had better things than to argue with a woman over names, especially when said woman had a tank.

"No problem, I see why you'd ask me that. Would have done the same in your position." Alexander answered to both Lola and Thalia, though he wasn't sure if Lola cared for his answer as she told him to get up on the tank and warm himself; he wasn't going to ask twice, though he was slightly disappointed that she kept the coco to herself. Then again, the tank spoke for itself. "Thanks again, thought I had left the cold back home in Chicago for good. Anyway, name's Alexander, Thalia. And the short answer is no. Long answer is no, not for a while. Been alone for...geeze, can't remember by now. And it's not because I'm old, thank you very much." His voice and face seemed stern at first, but it was eased up by a short chuckle as he warmed his hands over the warm grill.

"Mind if I ask you something too, ladies?" Alexander turned to Lola, but she had suddenly commenced to sing an old Cole Porter song. He raised an eyebrow, looking from Hola over to Thalia as if asking if this was normal. But vocally he asked something else. "How are you still having an operational Stuart these days? And do you know where those are coming from?" He raised his hand in the direction of the pillars of smoke in the south, hoping they had more answers than him.

Jack Hudson

Location: The Outer Gate

Jack smiled broadly as Tatiana approved of the name choice. Of course, there wasn't too much of a limit on how many names a kid could have. Three middle names might be pushing it some, but it meant that they could honor more people who were important to them. And in this moment, Jack was sure as hell that he would want to honor James. "I'm sure he'll love it, solovey," Jack said, returning Tatiana's kiss. He had to consciously stop himself from just getting lost in her eyes. The green amidst the brown always had a way of drawing him in. No shade was more gorgeous than hazel.

Pulling himself away as Tatiana waved towards Froggy and Niesha, Jack noticed the pack that Niesha had with her. It wasn't her personal belongings, allowing him to deduce that it must have been something for James. In that instant, his heart fell. He had been so focused on Tatiana that he hadn't even thought about getting anything for James. He didn't have anything on him that he could give to James, nothing more than well wishes and a hope that he would see James again. Being the namesake for Tatiana's and his child was all he could do.

In the crowd, Jack didn't see any trace of James. Almost everyone in Newnan had shown up to say goodbye, aside from those in essential posts and the like, but the man himself wasn't there yet. Ash and Commander Martin were in attendance, Miss Sally had come with the cowboy's traveling mate, and he saw the Ridgeway sisters arrive with Amelia. He hoped that James would get there soon--not only was it fifteen minutes to give James their best, but it was only fifteen minutes left for James to appear and receive them. They couldn't say goodbye to a person who wasn't there.

However, a certain ginger heading on a warpath caught his eye before he had much more time to search for James. "Shit..." Jack said quietly. This wasn't going to turn out well.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Building 6 (the Armory) ---> The Outer Gate

Beatrice snorted, imagining the surprise on James' face as to who his traveling companions would be for the end of days. Though there was the off chance that James would refuse their company, Beatrice doubted it. James wasn't leaving Newnan by choice, after all. His original choice had been to live with others in a settlement--people like that tended to rarely go it alone. Hopping out of the truck, Beatrice grabbed her stuff out of the back and slung it over her shoulder.

"Here comes trouble," Beatrice muttered under her breath, purposefully taking a few steps in the opposite direction of the oncoming storm that was Chloe Ridgeway. She had put up with the wedding shenanigans the day before and really wasn't looking forward to more love in the air. It was bad enough that Riley and Amelia had started shacking up together next door. To be honest with herself, that was one of the things Beatrice was looking forward to when she left Newnan. No more romance, no more love triangles, no more pining. It was exhausting and gross.

Was her opinion on romance formed because of childhood trauma? Sure. Her parents had been foolish drug addicts who went at it and left their kid with their dealer for a babysitter. She had bounced from home to home for almost her entire childhood. Roses and sweethearts were empty nothings to her. Beyond procreation, what point was there when it came to love? It made people act like idiots and ended up getting people killed.

But with what came next, Beatrice wished that she had earplugs.

Chloyan

Location: The Outer Gate

When the trio of Amelia, Riley, and Chloe reached the outer wall, Chloe was prepared to hang back a bit and serve as emotional support to her sister and her sister's beau. Chloe never really got to know James, though she certainly recognized the man. Glancing around, she took in the various people who had gathered there, before her eyes fell on Jim's truck. Seeing that Beatrice seemed to be leaving, Chloe could barely fight a smug smile off of her face. But once she spied Ryan, her eyes narrowed. "You two good? Good. I've got an asshat to talk to," Chloe said to Riley and Amelia, hardly waiting for their response.

"Aww hell..." Ryan muttered as he watched Chloe, this was not going to be pretty. "Whatever happens, let it," he said quickly, giving a half ways glance to Ash with a warning not to intervene look in his eyes before he turned his attention back towards the spitfire coming towards him.

If looks could kill, there wouldn't have been any worry about Ryan turning when he died. He would have turned to ashes on the spot. Chloe marched over towards him, seeing red and not even caring that Newnan's Commanding Officer was right there. "What the hell, you shitface?!" Chloe screamed, swinging her right hand as hard as she could and connecting with Ryan's jaw.

Ryan's head jerked to the side as he took the blow, not even trying to dodge or block it. He let it hit him full force. Reaching up and rubbing his jaw a bit before he spat out a mouthful of blood. "Love you too," he said with an Irish smirk on his face. He should have seen this coming.

For a moment, Chloe was stunned. Why wasn't the man fighting back? Ryan had been in max, she was in min. He had to have been in fights before, and even then, he lived with Eden. It wasn't like him to be this stupid. But her surprise didn't last long, before her anger flared up again. He was going to just waltz out of Newnan without a word and leave her? After everything he had done and said? Hell no. "Fuck you," Chloe growled, before swinging another punch.

The blood splattered slightly as the other side of his jaw received a matching blow. Ryan just looked over to her as it trickled from his busted lip. There was no anger in his eyes, not malice. He actually seemed to be finding this whole situation funny. He wasn't, it hurt like hell; physically and emotionally. Yet, he hid it well. "Is that an offer Lass?" he taunted her.

"Dear god you're infuriating!" Chloe groaned. As far as she could tell, he wasn't even taking her punches seriously. Did he not understand how much his actions hurt her? Sure, she was never interested in him sexually, but that didn't mean that she didn't love the guy. She just didn't want to make the beast with two backs with him. "You wanna tell me why you're leaving me, Irish?" Chloe asked, already getting ready to throw another punch.

Ryan had several reasons for leaving but he really hadn't thought any of them out, he just went with his gut with this one. The idea had popped into his head and he had packed his bags. Sure he knew why but the why didn't matter to him and he was actually a little surprised that it mattered to her. Cocking a brow he wiped the blood that was rolling down from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. Spitting out a mouthful on the ground before locking eyes with her. "Don't fuckin' matter why. I am."

Chloe laughed, though it wasn't the good natured chuckle often shared between friends. It was more painful than that. Her best friend was leaving Newnan and he wouldn't even tell her why. Hell, he hadn't even bothered to let her know that he was going to leave."You're a real piece of work, Ryan. You spent all that time acting sweet and kind, made me think that we were friends. Good friends. Guess I was wrong." She was too angry to even look at him anymore.

Taking a couple of punches from Chloe was one thing, this was a whole'nother ballpark. Reaching out he grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. He stared her down as his eyes narrowed. "Don't ever pull that shit with me. You know EXACTLY how I feel 'about you. You want to lock shit away, fine. You want to pull this shit, try it on someone that can't read you like a fuckin' book," he hissed from between his teeth as he clenched his jaw.

"If you can read me so damn well, then you should know exactly why I'm so goddamn angry with you!" Chloe shouted back, looking Ryan directly in the eye this time. "My best fucking friend is leaving and won't tell me why. Didn't even tell me what was going on. One minute, you're acting like Romeo and the next minute, you're...you're this." She didn't even care how much attention they were attracting at this point. She had tunnel vision in the extreme, not even realizing that most of Newnan was watching the pair of them fight. "I fucking love you, you asshat!"

"And Romeo fucking died for his Juliet," he said as his hand slipped up from her arm and brushed back a few strands of hair that had fallen over her features. He wanted to see her face, no matter how angry she was. "That's why I'm leaving." Sighing he looked down and coughed a bit, spitting out a little more blood before looking back up at her. His Irish eyes weren't smiling anymore, it actually looked like the former inmate was tearing up.

The look in Ryan's eyes and his answer were all it took to turn some of Chloe's rage into tears. "I don't want you to die for me," Chloe said, no longer screaming at the man. She wiped a bit of the blood off of his face with her thumb, though she didn't regret her punches for a second. They were a long time coming. "I don't need that shit. All I want is for you to stay in the shitty old house with me and play stupid ass card games at two in the morning when neither of us can sleep."

Sighing deeply, Ryan wrapped his arms around Chloe and pulled her close. Tucking her head beneath his chin he held her tight, as if it was the last time he'd ever get the chance; he was pretty sure it was. "I'm the lord of the fucking dance, I ain't gonna die," he said quietly as he stood there, rocking her gently as they stood there. "But I gotta do this. Like it or not. Don't matter Blackneck and I never really got along, he did his job and is part of this fucked up family we call Newnan. So, gonna have my brothers back out there," he added. Thinking back to his own brother and how he failed him. He wasn't going to fail James.

Chloe let Ryan pull her in, wrapping her own arms around him tightly. He was an asshole and drove her nuts, but he was her asshole. Her tears fell onto her chest as she sobbed quietly. "I hate you, Irish," Chloe said softly, without any anger in her voice. She might have said one thing, but she meant another. And she knew Ryan. There was no way that she could convince him to stay in Newnan, not unless it was her deathbed. He was as stubborn as they came. But she also knew she'd likely never see him again. She wasn't religious--her parents had made sure of that, with the pair of them being Bible Thumpers. To Chloe, this life was it. There wasn't anything else.

Keeping her there, Ryan's arms tightened even more as he let her sob. He felt like doing the same, he never wanted to leave her. He knew nothing would ever come of them no matter how much he loved her but that didn't change the fact that he was madly in love with the woman. Swallowing the lump in his throat he eventually pushed her away and reached up, taking off his gold cross that he wore religiously around his neck. It wasn't that he was religious but it was something that meant a lot to him and he never took it off. Until now. Slowly he strung it around Chloe's neck and fastened it behind her neck. "I love you too.." he whispered before pressing his lips to her forehead. He wanted to kiss her lips but he'd never do that to her. This was the most he'd take. "Juliet," he called her before turning away and starting to climb into the bed of the truck.

"Wait!" Chloe called out, not wanting to miss this chance. Holding her hand to the roots of her hair, she took a deep breath before ripping out a small lock. She bit down on her lip as to handle the pain from it. She then held out the brilliant ginger lock to him. "Take it. It's only fair," she said. Her hair would grow back and it wasn't like she was trying to impress anyone these days. Besides, it was a small piece--small enough for Ryan to fashion into something if he wished.

Ryan stopped and half turned around. He winced a bit as she yanked the lock of hair out but he understood why she was. He had kept a lock of his brothers hair all these years wrapped around his finger after all. Reaching out he took it and gave her a sad smile. He didn't know what else to say without dragging this out any long and making it even more emotional. He just nodded before climbing into the bed of the truck and resting his head against the back window glass. Looking at the hair he ran his fingers through it before wrapping it around his ring finger on his left hand, much like he did with his brothers on his right. He planned to keep it as long as he drew breath.

Chloe didn't know what to say either. She still hadn't fully wrapped her head around everything that was happening that day. She wiped her eyes with her left hand, given that her right knuckles had a bit of Ryan's blood on them still, but that didn't stop fresh tears from welling up in her eyes. Wrapping her hand around the cross that Ryan had given her, it became her most treasured and ironic possession of all. She knew people were staring at her, but she didn't care.

Ravi Chakrabarti

Location: Outer Gate

Ravi nodded at Miss Sally. The woman was a fountain of wisdom from what he had seen, only further reinforcing the British patriot in him. The British just knew best. Looking over at his cheeky mate, Ravi saw him leaning against the wall, the cowboy hat making him easy to identify. He was a bit of a trope, but he was Ravi's brother all the same. "Yeah, it wouldn't do for him to cause a scene," Ravi agreed, accepting Miss Sally's thanks as she walked off to take care of her own business.

Heading over to Gavin, Ravi heard the beginning of the screaming death match over near Ash. He winced a bit as he looked over, seeing the blood flying. "Imagine his poor beard, if he had one," Ravi whispered to Gavin. Whenever he saw damage to a man's face, he always got a little more concerned for his beard and its proper care. He had kept it in nearly pristine condition for the four years of the walker epidemic and he wasn't planning on letting its beauty perish.

But he turned his gaze away to look at Gavin, feeling that the screamfest was a conversation that should have perhaps been held with some privacy. "You're going to come back, mate. One, because you're like a cockroach. I don't think anything can bloody kill you at this point. And two, because I'm giving you this and I'll want it back one day." Ravi then fished into his pocket and pulled out his green card. The thing looked like it had gone through hell but he had kept it all of these years. "You'll need a reminder of what true beauty looks like, I'm afraid," Ravi joked.

Niesha

Locationgate

Niesha was silent for a moment or two, not sure how she felt. It wasn’t simply the fact that they were going to say goodbye to someone, to watch them leave against their will, but that… it still seemed wrong to her. Still, she understood that things had to be done for the best of the community. She looked over and nodded, ”Right. Goodbye. A hard thing” She said softly, shifting the gear she had packed, returning Tatiana’s wave, and looking back to Froggy. Despite the last few months, emotional displays still weren’t her strong suit, and she didn’t want to mess this up.

She glanced about them, a little uncertain. So many people were here to say goodbye… She hoped that nothing bad would happen… would there be a riot? And what would happen if that was the case? She shifted the pack once more, turning back to Froggy, seeing that he had his cards out. Not a strange sight, these days. She looked aside again, seeing if she could see James coming, knowing that he would have to be go soon.

She tried to see if she could see Kristina, but couldn’t see her friend, but knowing that she’d be along soon. She wondered if maybe, after this was done, they could talk a little bit. Talking sounds like a nice idea. ”So.. Gofish?”

Ash Holloway

Location: Inner Gate -> Outer Gate

Ash returned Miss Sally's nod, continuing his pace next to Thana down the straight and level road between the inner and outer gates. There was quite the crowd gathering to see James off, but that was expected. He was a personable guy and tended to make friends easily. The sheer volume of people coming down made Ash question for just a moment whether he was doing the right thing by Newnan. He knew full well that the community would be weaker for his absence, and not just because of his giant sniper rifle. James was the kind of guy that drew people to him and made them feel comfortable, despite not being what one would call a "leader" in the classical sense.

Unfortunately, Ash knew that his decision was the correct one to make. The only other recourse was to kill him, and that was something he was simply unwilling to do. No matter what the Smoked Meat Aficionado might show outwardly, he was hurting inside, and big. They had a lot in common that way, though Ash was too self-absorbed to see past his own pain. The two of them were more similar in that way, except that James hid behind his optimism, while Ash his stoicism. Both threw themselves into work.

He may as well have eaten that bullet, himself.

Ash's tidbit of introspection was put on hold, with the approach of Beatrice and Ryan in the back of James's truck. Jim had stepped out of the driver's seat and handed him the keys, which he accepted with quiet confirmation. As Jim reported the situation with the other two in the truck, he glanced over to them both with an odd expression; sorrow mixed with gratitude. Ash opened his mouth to say something, only to be cut off by a massive slice of drama in the form of Chloe Ridgeway. Momentary violence led to a open and honest expression of feelings for one another, a mood swing of mere seconds drawing upon the emotions of almost everyone around them. The part of it that got to him, and it really did, was Ryan's insistence that James was family, after a sense, and he was going to make sure someone had his back.

When it calmed down, Ash approached the freshly bruised man and extended his hand. "Whatever went on with us... it's done with. James is my brother, too. Help him, Ryan." He hoped to God this wasn't some ploy. James might not have needed people before, wandering about the backwoods, swamps, and hills of the American South, but when you add in infectious walking corpses, it changes the dynamic. He did remarkably well flying solo for a year or two; while there was no doubt his background served him well, he had taken on the mantle of Agriculturalist for a long while. Everyone needed people now.

Ash hefted the woodaxe in his hand so that the head rested over his shoulder, and addressed the second of the duo departing with James. "Beatrice. We never got a lot of time to talk outside of work. I regret that. James brought you in, didn't he?"

His tone remained solid, even though the content of his speech was heartfelt. "Make sure you look after each other. Irish here's right. It's dysfunctional as hell, but we are all a family here. Even if we don't see so much of each other anymore."

Black James(!)

Location: Arriving at Outer Gate

James wrapped an arm around Kristina's shoulder as they walked along the edge of Agriculture. She was like a little sister to him, and he stepped bodily into the role of Big Brother after Maria's passing. He did dearly like Maria, and considered her family his, as well. Of course, that was an easy statement to make considering she only had one living relative, of which he was aware. It just so happened to be the young lady with whom he walked at that moment. Whatever the reason, he and Kristina had become fast friends, and she deserved a little more than the standard, "Bye, y'all!" that he would likely have to give most of the people in Newnan. James could have remained happy just walking with her in silence. But he felt it would be a disservice to her.

"Hey, don't you go worryin' about me now, hear? I been out there just about as long as I been in here, an' a lot longer'n that before. 'Course, things're different now, but I got that big guy gonna look out for me." He wasn't about to tell her what he really intended to do, that he was making plans to hit Eden hard and fast. He didn't want anyone to worry, or worse, try to stop him. He was doing this for people like Kristina; one of the few innocents left in the world. He couldn't protect them from inside anymore. This hit, if they were unbelievably lucky, would remove the singlemost massive human threat of the area. And if it didn't, he'd be dead. Hopefully. "You worry 'bout you, little lady. Tend them animals. Work them crops. Keep yo' people warm and fed. Keep with friends, y'all gonna need each other. Shoot a bitch if ya need. But only if you need, understand me? Survive. Live, even."

They were getting close to the Outer Gate now. There were only a short few minutes left until he had to be out, and off on his next Life's Mission. He could see the crowd gathered to see him off, even a few stragglers running up. It felt good, knowing that what he had done, taking Richard's life like that, the people didn't despise him for it.

As he neared the Gate and the people around it, he removed his weatherstained stetson. Looking over at his truck, he noticed that the back seemed to be more packed than he anticipated, and had Newnan folk about it like they belonged there. Maybe he missed something. "Aight, what's uh... what's goin' on, y'all?"

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

"Glad you understand where we're coming from." responded Thalia frankly, concerning his remark about his actions, were he in their position. She climbed up the tank after him, maneuvering for the hatch on the turret. The going was a little tricky considering she was hauling up a primitive spear and a bag containing of bottles and jars and such full of packed snow. The weather was a boon in that regard; thick snowfall meant a readily available source of fresh water virtually guaranteed to be clean and safe. Precautions had to be made, certainly, but it was a shiny silver lining.

Thalia swung open the hatch and lowered her bag into the tank. She leaned in, stretching her arm out as far as it would go to hook around the strap of a backpack. When she straightened back up, her pack came with her. Thalia carefully tucked away the tinder she had procured earlier and let the pack gently drop back to its spot inside.

The older man who introduced himself as Alexander seemed to have an improving mood in the short time he had access to a good fire. She could relate. "Yeah, don't worry about it, Alexander. Old just means you've seen more." She made her way to the back of the tank, near the lit grill, and settled into one of the patio chairs. Her spear rested in the crook of her knee, partially leaning against the arm of her chair. The leisurely way in which Thalia sat belied the level of readiness she was putting into the situation - she did not believe that this man was there to cause immediate harm, but she was not ready to fully trust someone she'd known for a couple of minutes. Still, the process had to begin somewhere. "The sharpest, most frightening man I know's older than you. He was always kind to me, no matter what. Old doesn't always mean daft, just saying." The questioning about the Stuart Tank was best left to Lola, seeing as Thalia herself was just a guest, anyway. But the sudden burst of song (again) might warrant a little explanation, of sorts. In a quieter voice, Thalia mentioned, "She's an acquired taste. Wicked sport about things, though. Can't say for the smoke; I was wondering that, myself."

Conversation with a new person was fun and all, especially now that she was reasonably certain they were in no immediate danger, but Thalia's primary desire at the moment was for the water to come up to temperature. Coffee or Cocoa, she did dearly want a nice, warm beverage to sip on.

Amelia Payne

Location: Towards the Outer Gate then at Outer Gate

Riley's words were really reassuring to Amelia. Since she came to this place, met all of them, she found herself opening up to people again well at least to some of them. Now she even had friends which is why it hurt so much more to lose them like this. Hopefully James was going to be the one to be completely fine out there. Like he may be able to form himself a settlement too so they can join forces and survive better. Sadly that was just very wishful thinking and even Amelia herself knew that fact.

As they were nearing the outer gate she realized how many people were gathering. As expected actually. James was a very important figure with lots of friends and by the looks of it all of them were going to send him off.

As they arrived though and could see the people about better, the situation was different from what they were led to expect. Beatrice could be seen with her things so she must be leaving, Amelia realized, not too sure what to think of that, but then there was also Ryan... and it seemed Chloe wasn't liking that. Amelia squeezed Riley's hand, knowing that commotion was on the horizon to hit them like a storm any moment now.

A shout and a punch from Riley's sister, made even Amelia who was expecting it to happen, to be startled as she winced. This was not how this should happen... right? Still things progressed rather in a classy way, ending in very touching scene, that made Amelia smile a little. Just a little though, since Ryan was leaving and leaving Chloe behind... unless she decides to leave with him. That train of thought made Amelia freeze since she suspected Riley will want to leave too. She then tilted her head when Chloe gave Ryan a lock of her hair, wondering why she did that. In the end she concluded it was a form of intimate gift to keep a piece of someone with yourself. He had given her his cross too... It felt so sad they were parting like this.

'So it's Ryan, Beatrice and James that will be leaving.' Amelia finally concluded, not seeing other people prepared to leave like those. She now looked about, searching for James. He still wasn't... wait he was just arriving! Amelia quickly turned only to see the confusion he found himself in with other people who seemingly were going to be joining him.

Outer Gate

It seems they had some time to kill before James would leave, but she wanted to make sure she didn't miss it. She walked along with Ray, keeping him extra close for comfort and a reminder. They slowly made their way there, but they ended up at the Gate. Plenty of people had already arrived. Whatever the case may be, friends, rivals, or anywhere in between, it was clear in this instance that they were a community. And community stood together.

She bid a few of the others a hello before she stood among them. She noticed some of the newcomers were here as well. She didn't really know what to make of them yet, but hopefully, she could get a chance to talk to them at some point. She watched a few others talk amongst themselves, but she paid little attention, holding on to Ray's hand and giving it a comforting squeeze as James approached. He seemed confused at the gathering, which made it all the more heartwarming.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: The Outer Gate

As they got closer towards the front gate Riley could see Black James' truck there, she caught a glimpse of Beatrice sitting in the truck raising an eyebrow slightly. She honestly didn't really care much for Beatrice, the woman just always constantly gave her that judgmental look that she always hated. It was a good thing then to her that she didn't have to deal with those looks that she got from that woman, which always mad her uncomfortable. Riley's eyes then wondered over and spotted Ryan, then instantly looked towards her sister, she could see that temper flaring instantly. Riley bit her lower lip as she watched her twin storming off towards Ryan, her attention instantly went over towards Ashton, the morning was pretty bad dealing with a murder and her sister wanting to beat the shit out of Ryan for leaving.

But it looked like to her that he wasn't going to step in, Riley clearly flinched when she heard her sister yelling at Ryan, then punching him in the face. Riley never saw her sister this angry, at least not when she was growing up with her Riley would be more the one to throw punches when she got angry when she was younger and in high school. Then things started to settle down between the two of them, if Chloe wasn't gay like she was Riley could probably see the two of them actually being some sort of couple.

Riley looked over towards Amelia and gave her a soft smile as she gently squeezed her hand lovingly looking over at her and gently laid a comforting hand on Amelia's shoulder. Riley turned her attention back towards Chloe and Ryan, the moment started to become tender now and then her sister pulling out a couple strands of hair off of her head. She didn't know why Chloe decided to pull it off of her head, she did have her knife on her and having to yank out hair like that is pretty painful. "At least my sister didn't murder him." Riley said softly, as she looked over and spotted Kristina and James walking with each other. Riley then listened to Ashton as he spoke to Beatrice and Ryan they were all certainly one big dysfunctional family. Then she also realized that she would end up losing two trainers that worked under her as well today. Riley then looked over and saw Meghna walking over to them as she gave her friend a soft smile and nod.

Raymond Mendoza

Location: The Outer Wall

Raymond looked towards Tiffany and gave her a loving smile as she squeezed his hand, which he returned the favor Ray stood there with the others as his attention went towards Ryan and Chloe, as a screaming match between the two started. He wasn't sure what exactly went on between the two of them. Ray knew that they were very close friends things then started to settle down quickly between the two of them after Ryan ended up taking a few punches from the pissed off Ridgeway twin. Raymond looked over towards Ashton, he was surprised he didn't step in and breakup the two of them. But things seemed to have settled down now as Ray leaned up slightly against Tiffany.

Raymond watched as Kristina and Black James started to come up out from agriculture together, the two of them did seem to have a really close friendship with one another as the two talked amongst each other as they got closer to the going away party. Raymond's eyes then looked over as he spotted Beatrice sitting in the truck as well, then he looked towards Tiffany. He knew that the two of them were friends as well, it would probably be the last time Tiffany could see Beatrice. "I see Beatrice is leaving us as well." Raymond said looking towards Tiffany for a moment once more. "Want to say goodbye to her?" Raymond asked, he wanted to say goodbye to everyone that was leaving as well.

Kristina Smith

Location: Outer Wall

Kristina looked towards James and gave him a sad smile, she was doing her best to try and hold back the tears Kris always looked up to James like an older brother since she had came to Newnan. Though a part of her would always worry about James, since it would most likely be the last time she would ever see him again. "I'll be sure to take care of everything while you are away.." Kristina said softly she ran a hand through her hair letting out a shaky sigh as she remembered the first few days after her sister and her friend had died. She thought about just leaving town alone, but he was always there for her.

As they got closer to the front gate Kristina's hand went over towards one of the three necklaces that she wore, the one that was Maria's, she bit her lower lip. Kristina reaches into her shirt and started to pull it off and then looked over towards James, she wanted to at least give him something that was both hers and her sister's. Kristina smiled softly and nodded towards James, the man was pretty capable and did survive out there before coming to Newnan.

When they got closer towards the gate she stopped for a moment as she held out her sister's necklace towards James, looking at him as she wiped away a few tears. "This was my sisters, and want you to have it." Kristina said softly, she wanted him to have it was something that he could remember her by and for being such a great friend as she pulled him into another very tight hug, she really and truly wanted to just leave with him, but knew that he didn't want her to go for her safety, but she didn't want to see her friend leave either.

Meghna Kumar

Location: Outer Wall

Meghna walked over towards Riley and Amelia almost everyone there that wasn't busy with important duties such as watching the walls, or something that was important. Meg wanted to say goodbye to James, before having to head back towards the Meg gave Amelia and Riley a slight smile as she watched Chloe and Ryan arguing with each other. She ran a hand through her hair as she looked towards Amelia, Meg would need her and Tiffany's help with putting the bodies of Sana, Bryn and Richard all to rest.

Meghna looked around at everyone that was gathering before the main gate to say goodbye to James, she didn't want to see her friend leave but it was Ashton's orders, and he did kill someone. But the guy did deserve it as Meg listened to Ashton as he spoke, then her eyes wondered over and saw James and Kris walking up to the gate with each other. She couldn't imagine what was actually going through Kristina's head, the two were practically brother and sister at this point.

Lola Holler

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

Lola glanced over towards Alexander out of the corner of her eye. He was asking about her tank and that was one of the few things that could be asked to bring her out her song. She started grinning from ear to ear as she flopped back more in her recliner. "How could I not! You see this baby?!? These tanks have been through wars, deserts, floods. You can't kill these tanks! And they run of practically anything. Aces mate. Petrol, liquor, hell I could probably piss in the tank and he'd keep going. Sure, not good on gas mile but when you can take your house with you, what does it matter? It'd take a nuke to kill my baby," she said proudly. Sure, she might have been exaggerating a bit when it came to the fuels it could take but she loved her tank. It was like a child, or a lover that never screwed up.

Placing her hand over her brows she looked towards the fire and shrugged a bit. "No ideas but don't really care. Fire means a lot of things, usually nothing good. Anyways, not headed south. Well not south west," she said in passing before looking back down into her MRE and finally pulling out a small one serving packet of dried instant coffee. Tossing it over to Alexander she grabbed the other MRE and tossed it to Thalia. In truth Lola didn't really have a direction to go, she had seen the smoke the day before but it really didn't get her interest.

She had run across enough people, good and bad, over the last years and while she didn't have a problem pulling over to the side of the road for a single person a few smoke stacks really wasn't interesting enough to get her attention for long. This was plenty evident as she ripped open the cocoa pouch and took a moment to make it in a cup before downing the hot chocolate liquid in one gulp. Following it up with a rather loud belch as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and started to dig into her Chili Mac & Cheese with gusto. Lola didn't seem to have a care in the world.

Gavin Comfort

Location: Outer Gate

Gavin looked over towards Ravi and flicked the tip of her hat back a bit. He took slight notice of the little lovers scene but paid it no nevermind since his best bro was speaking to him. Reaching out he took the greencard and smirked a bit, then chuckled, followed by a sigh. "Well Christ on a Cracker you Red Coat. Handing this overs to me? You really must not have gotten sleep last night or have lost what littles brains yous gots into that beard of yours," he teased as he pulled his wallet out and slipped the card carefully into a safe spot. Shaking his head a bit he placed his wallet into his back pocket once again and looked back over to Ravi.

"Well I ain't gots nothing fer yous, less you wants a knife or something. Tell ya whats, I find any beard creams whiles I out there, I be bringing's it backs with me. Till then, yous stay safe and watch over ol' Strawberrys fer me," he said with a broad grin before grabbing Ravi and pulling him in for a hard and rather awkwardly masculine hug. Patting on the back hard a few times before grabbing his gear and giving Ravi his customary tip of his hat. Strolling over to the truck he smiled at Thana before tossing his gear into the back and looking over towards James.

"Readies when you are Bateman," he laughed a bit as he climbed into the back of the truck and flopped down opposite of Ryan. "Howdy, names Comfort," he said as he held his hand out to the Irishman.

Miss sally placed her hand over her mouth for a moment. She hadn't expected to see that Ryan and Beatrice were leaving. She wasn't too surprised about Beatrice, she was friends with James and really didn't get along with many others in town. It half made sense but she had to wonder if Bea would be a help or a hindrance to James out in the wild. Ryan, wasn't friends with James and from the little scene it was more than obvious had a strong connection with at least one person in town. Then again, he was also friends with Beatrice. Maybe that was why he was going? Trying to figure Ryan out though... She just let the thought slip away. Gavin, that shouldn't have surprised her. She figured he could help and it was probably a good thing that Gavin wasn't going out there alone. She would need to speak to Ash about things once goodbyes were done.

Looking over to Ash she hoped things with the goodbyes went smoothly. Looking down at her watch, it was less than ten minutes before James had to be outside of the wall. That didn't leave a lot of time and Miss Sally knew that there was no room for long goodbyes. Taking a breath she walked over to James and gave him a quick hug. She didn't say anything, not wanting to hold up goodbyes for anyone else. She just gave him a smile and moved out of the way so others could take care of things quickly.

Thana Martin

Location: Outer Gate

Thana was more than happy that Ryan and Chloe were the ones making a scene and not Gavin at this point. Though she had to wonder why he was leaving with James as she spotted him coming over and climbing into the back of the truck. He smiled at her, she simply gave him a quick nod of her head but didn't move. She was there to support Ash right then, nothing more and nothing less. Maybe she should have said goodbye to James but she really hadn't even said hello to him since she arrived. Sure she had known him when she was younger but she didn't anymore in her mind and from the comment he had made earlier in the day he obviously didn't know her anymore. Goodbyes between the two of them was a waste of time in her mind.

Taking a parade rest stance she just stood there as Jim shook James hand and told him all his gear was packed up and ready. The man said goodbye and moved over to Miss Sally to get out of the way so others could have their five seconds. Seemed James was leaving with a bit of a group. The new comer Gavin, the criminal Ryan, and Beatrice (who he never really got to know). In his mind, four against the world out there was a better chance than one. Though Jim knew in the back of his mind that James had ways to stay alive, James would be fine. And if not, if trouble happened... Well, that was a story for another time.

Tatiana Korvo

Location: Outer Gate

"Aww dat vas sveet!" Tatiana said once the scene with Ryan and Chloe came to an end. Tatiana smiled a bit as she stood up and hobbled over to the truck. Looking at Ryan for a minute. "Not surprised," she said as she pulled open the truck door and glanced back to Jack giving him a knowing smile. She wasn't leaving but she was going to talk to James - outside of the gate, once goodbyes were done.

"James, ve talk, outside vhen done. Then you go and I come back inside," she said quickly before climbing into the driver side of the truck and slipped over to the center. Sitting there she waited for everyone else to say goodbye. This was not a talk she was looking forward to but it needed to be done in her mind and Ash had suggested it. Though she hadn't been expecting three more to be with him but she didn't care. She figured they could wait in the back of the truck while they spoke. She had to be sure he wouldn't be a danger to himself or the town when he left. She was pretty sure he wasn't but she wasn't about to not check. She had made the mistake with Sana and she wasn't going to let that happen again.

"But of course," Froggy said with a sad smile. Others were climbing into the truck now. He wondered why Tatiana was climbing into the cab until she spoke. Then it made sense and he was glad something had been worked out. Walking over to James he shook the man's hand like Jim did and handed him the deck of cards. "You keep playing. Stay safe. Do what you do," he said before moving out of the way for the rest to say goodbye. Stepping back over to Niesha he nodded to her and motioned for her to go ahead and say her goodbyes and hand James the pack she had gotten together for him. With more than one leaving, it was more than a good thing she had put that together.

Ryan O'Reily

Location: Outer Gate

Ryan looked at Ash and smirked. "No need to get sappy with me Army. I knows you love me. Place just ain't gonna be the same without the luck of the Irish around," he chuckled. Resting his head on the back of the cab as James came over he shrugged a bit. "Well some of us just refuse to live without your cooking so we're going with you," he added as he got comfortable and bent a knee. Resting his hand over it he twirled Chloe's hair on his finger a bit as he waited for all the sappy goodbyes to be done.

Gavin joining them was a bit of a surprise to the Irish but then again he didn't know the man. After seeing the scene between Gavin and Thana earlier and the fact Thana seemed to be sticking to Ash like glue - boring dull glue - but glue nonetheless, he kind of wished James had waited twenty-four hours to kill Old Dick. He would have liked to see how this drama unfolded but then again it seemed Gavin was coming with them, he could get the story behind all this shit on the road. Looking at the extended hand in his direction he just let out a breath and didn't return the shake to start. "Ryan, you can call me Irish," he said before finally shaking the mans hand - a quick, dismissive one, but he at least shook it.

Seeing Tatiana and hearing what she said he rolled his eyes a bit. That woman liked to pick at peoples minds but at least she wasn't his target right now. James was. That was a good thing about leaving Newnan; he wouldn't be forced to sit on her couch like the rest of the town to discuss his feelings. He hated that prissy little dancer and her over perkiness. Not being around her and the love struck Bostonian was reason enough to get the fuck out of Newnan in his book.

Alexander Polawski

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

"You're not wrong about that. I have seen some shit through my life." Alexander remainded standing as the conversation continued, preferring to warm them up a bit before attempting to sit down. He had tried that before, and now knew better. The change of, well, everything was welcomed by him; the talking, the warm grill in front of him, the sense of normality, it was nice. Even what Thalia said about an old man she knew was better than the previous weeks of his existance. "Sounds like a man I'd want by my side, especially now. I hope I can live up to his fame." He said with a smile to Thalia, rubbing his hands together as the numbness slowly withdrew from them, leaving the pain than came with the warmth.

Lola's answer wasn't exactly what Alexander had expected. To be frank, it was a bit over the top with how good the tank was, and he doubted half of what she said. The other half was true enough, Alexander knew, but still sounded wacky by the way Lola said it. What Thalia had said was true, she was indeed an aquired taste. Still, she was commanding a noteworthy, armoured vehicle, and that was quite the feat in itself. "As long as you keep clear of any T-54's, I think you and your baby will live long and happily."

Alexander felt a glimpse of disappointment at their answers in regards to the smoke, though Lola's was the one he took most note of. She wasn't interested? As Lola tossed a small packed to him, which turned out to be instant coffee, he looked at the smoke again from where he was standing on the tank, before looking back at Lola and Thalia. "Thanks for the coffee. Do you have cup to spare?" He asked them, noting how Lola emptied her whole cup of something and how she ate. She reminded him of the soldiers who stopped caring about etiquette after months in the jungle. All things considered, he couldn't blame her.

"If you ask me, I think it's people. It's not a rouge fire, too many small ones for that, I think." Alexander said to Thalia, really hoping what he himsef claimed was true. Sure two new people and a tank was good news, but safety also came in larger numbers. As long as those people were on your side, which he hoped. Then he turned to Lola, eating what he could only presume looked like mac 'n cheese. "What do you mean by not heading south-west? Anything down there worth avoiding? Like the gunshot from earlier today?"

Jack Hudson

Location: The Outer Gate

There wasn't much time left for them to say goodbye to James. They had ten minutes at best, though Jack figured that it was probably a little less than that by now. People had begun to make their goodbyes to James, with Jack watching as Miss Sally gave him a hug and Jim shook his hand. The truck was loaded with individuals and supplies, all but ready to depart Newnan forever. Jack couldn't help but wonder if James' exile would ever end, if the man would ever be welcomed back to Newnan, but he doubted it. It'd take a miracle for that to happen. This was the best deal they could make for James.

"Solovey! Damn it...You aren't supposed to be walkin' on your feet," Jack scolded half heartedly, his wife having hobbled out of the wheelchair and into the truck. Tatiana's feet were her livelihood and if they didn't heal up, she wouldn't be able to dance. Jack would have to dance for her and while his dancing was amazing and talent scout worthy, dancing was one of Tatiana's favorite things to do. It was in her blood. He wouldn't be surprised if their kid danced out of the womb.

But what was done was done. She was sitting in the truck, ready to get to work on her job for Newnan. Jack couldn't help but want to go out with her, just in case anything happened. It was all he could do to fight that protective urge and not accompany the truck outside. There wasn't any relative danger right outside the gate anyways. The team on the wall made sure of that. Once James had a free moment, Jack extended his hand to the man. "We're namin' the kid aftah you, pal. James for a boy--Jamie for a girl." He then nodded and stepped aside, knowing that countless others also had goodbyes to make.

Beatrice Decker

Location: The Outer Gate

Beatrice was busy trying to block out the major spillage of emotions from her memory. She was leaving Newnan in an effort to get away from all of that--and if it followed her even outside of the settlement, what even was the point? She nodded as Ash mentioned that James had been the one to bring her in. He had been--he was one of the few people in Newnan that Beatrice enjoyed spending time with. She was like a cat in some respects--not hating someone was high praise for her. And it was true, of course. She never talked with Ash that much, though she respected the man. He was like herself in many ways.

"I've got his back, Ashton," Beatrice replied. She didn't feel compelled to say anything else. And as James approached, she nodded in agreement with Ryan. "We're coming with you, James." She then climbed into the truck after Ryan and one of the newcomers, wanting to get out of the way of all of the goodbyes. There wasn't much time left for them and she didn't want to get caught in the middle of an emotional onslaught. Trinkets were being exchanged from what she could tell, little gifts and well wishes too. The cowboy caught Beatrice's attention. She hadn't seen him yet, though he called himself Comfort. She hoped that was indeed his name and not some misguided attempt at humor. And while Beatrice could have introduced herself as well to the man, for whatever reason she didn't feel the need to.

Chloe Ridgeway

Location: The Outer Gate

Chloe was surprised as well that Captain Tight-Ash didn't step in with any form of discipline. But really, punching Ryan around was nothing compared to what James had done to Dick. Walking back over towards Riley and Amelia, Chloe noted that Meg had joined the group. She genuinely liked Meg--she was another one of the people in Newnan who didn't treat her like a reject. Meg also knew the life of being a twin, especially a fraternal twin. It was irritating sometimes, especially when they were growing up, fielding the comments when people were confused that Chloe and Riley didn't look the same. Meg's twin was her brother--she understood completely.

Chloe wiped a bit of Ryan's blood off of her knuckles, searching Riley, Amelia, and Meg's faces simultaneously. While Chloe wasn't friends with James, these three were. Their good friend was being sent to his death and Newnan would be all the worse for it. Without James, the agricultural team was crippled, as far as Chloe was aware. Kristina was probably the most qualified to take it over out of anyone there, as the ginger ex-con didn't know about Commander Martin's qualifications.

"You three should go say goodbye," Chloe suggested, feeling numb herself. The anger and the rage was gone, leaving just...nothingness behind. "There's not much time left."

Ravi Chakrabarti

Location: The Outer Gate

"It's as I said--a reminder of what true beauty looks like while you're out and about. It'll be hard to live without seeing this face for a bit," Ravi teased, though he did perk up a bit at the mention of beard creams. While beard care products were not in high demand during the outbreak, it didn't mean they weren't still hard to find. Most places had been hit by now, becoming more scarce and picked over as the months go by. He'd appreciate a good thing for his beard. "And I'll try, mate, but I honestly think Commander Martin is more qualified to do the reverse. I can't fathom her needing a single thing from me." And for Gavin's sake, he hoped she never did. It wasn't good luck to need the assistance of a Medical Examiner and former Forensic Pathologist for the CDC.

The extremely masculine, uber manly, very macho, and ultimate bro-hug made Ravi's back pop for a moment. He chuckled slightly, though he clapped Gavin on the back just as hard as he had done for Ravi. While Gavin might tease Ravi about being gay--though the man was flattered by quite heterosexual, thank you very much--that didn't mean he didn't know the Bro Code. He knew how to interact with his mates.

"Don't do anything you would do!" Ravi called out to the man as Gavin ended the hug and headed over to the truck. Ravi didn't know much about Peachtree City, but he knew one thing for certain--they'd have no idea what hit them. Gavin was a special sort of crazy.

Niesha

Location gate

Niesha watched as still people came, and as James finally arrived. It soon became apparent that James wasn’t going alone and while it meant that Newman was down more people, it also meant that James had a higher chance of surviving out there. She thought… for a moment, that she might have gone as well. But she had responsibilities here, and she needed to be here… needed to learn. So that she could do good, in the world, when she was needed. She waited until James was free, holding the gear she had collected for him, and now his companions as well.

She just hoped it would give them an advantage, that it would help them survive. She knew, reasonably, that there had to be other communities, other safe places out there that they could take refuge in… but that didn’t do anything to ease the worry she felt. It wasn’t a scavenging party. It wasn’t just going outside the walls to deal with a few things. It was leaving, for good.

Niesha hated goodbyes. She hated the feeling of waiting, the feeling of not knowing if she’d ever see someone again. She loathed it. She sighed softly, and approached James. He’d been there on one of the hardest days of her life. When she’d had to take the life of the teenager… She couldn’t even think their name, it hurt. He’d seemed a sort of… steadiness, to the choas in the world.

How did you say goodbye to someone who was a rock in the community? She stopped when she got close, ”Just some medical supplies and things. I wrote a few quick notes for the herbs and how to make the simple meds out of them” she said softly, meeting James’s gaze, before holding it out, ”Goodbyes suck, and I’ve never been good at them. But stay safe… and… you’ll be missed… “ She stepped back, glancing away once more, before stepping back.

Goodbyes really did suck.

She stepped around Jack as he went to say his goodbyes to James, keeping her gaze down. Now unburdened from the gear, Niesha felt a little foolish, and she sighed once more.

Black James(!)

Location: Outer Gate

James accepted the necklace with some hesitation. This was not a mere trinket to remember someone, more than it was the last thing that this young lady had to remember her departed sister. "Now, you sure you wantin' me to have this?" He would have wanted to comment more, but Kris had pulled him into a hug that threatened to crack a rib. James wasn't sure of the occasion where he would wear this necklace, but he would do what he could to keep it safe. Tucking it into the bib pocket of his overalls, he whispered, "Gonna miss the hell outta you, baby girl. Wish I didn't have to leave ya."

Tatiana was next, giving her reminder that they had their appointment as soon as he exited the walls of Newnan. "Yes'm, but you go back inside the second we done. I ain't havin' you on my conscience, 'specially not now." He turned his head quickly, trying to see if anyone was listening too closely. Froggy approached just behind Tati, giving him encouragement and pushing a deck of cards into his palm. He really couldn't think of anything else to say except for, "Hey, thanks man, really. You know how I do."

Ryan was fast enough with the smartassed comment about his cooking. Now, he was pretty good, no doubt. But James gave some serious wonder as to why he really wanted to go with him. Face value, it made no sense. Of course, he might change his mind when he finds out what they're going to attempt just as soon as they pulled away from town. But that comment did remind him: He was leaving his gigantic smoker/grill here in town. It wasn't practical to drag with him anymore, and these people could find better use of it than himself. He would have to find another meat cooking device to dote over. That was his parting gift to Newnan.

Jack... Jack earned a huge hug from James when he heard his news about their upcoming. "Man, damnit, you got a family. A family, Jack. You take carea that little lady, an' good." James was flat out jealous of the man. Not because of Tatiana, specifically; they had settled into the sort of relationship that close family might, but the idea of having a family to call your very own, in that moment, became a thing he longed for. He wouldn't get that where he was going. Point of fact, it would me miraculous if he survived the day, given their task. But if he did, and there was a wholesome, safe place he could go to, he did very much entertain the idea of starting a family and passing along all of what he knew to the next generation of black, pagan(ish) rednecks. Just for the hell of it, James bearhugged the Massachusetts native one more time before moving on, lifting him bodily off of the ground in the process. A tiny, little human named after him. That was huge.

Then there was Niesha. She had come a long way since their beginning, and he suspected a bit of trauma on her part, way back when. Not that he could blame her. The world was a traumatizing place. But he'd seen a possibly disturbed young lady settle into a routine and become a damned fine addition to Newnan. They needed people like that. And it was proof that you got to come back from whatever the world had done to you. Just sometimes, you needed help. Her parting words seemed a little distant, like she didn't want to be there. Well good call, James didn't really want to be there, either. All told, he'd rather be on a lake somewhere, surrounded by deep water, putting a hook and line down and trying to figure out the more subtle aspects of fishing. But he took the box of goodies from Medical, nodding gratefully. "Yeah. Goodbyes suck. But it's a world fulla possibility. Never know. Thanks ya much for the band-aids n' stuff, little lady. I won't forget you." He turned and settled the medical supplies into the back of his truck.

It looked like almost everyone had given their goodbyes. Everyone except for a few, just standing there with blank expressions as if they wanted to say something but just couldn't quite get it out. He looked at each of their faces, Tiffany, Ray, Amelia, Riley, ...and Meg. "It's aight, y'all. I know, it's hard for me, too. Y'all'll be just peachy without me, no doubt... But I'mma miss all of y'all very much. Who knows? Might even see me out there on Runs, if'n I decide to stay in the neighborhood." It was a polite nothing. While he had hoped to see them again someday, the reality of his situation was that his probable lifespan was finite and looming.

But a dark cloud passed over his face when he learned that Beatrice was coming along with him. She didn't know yet. She didn't know, and he couldn't say anything right then. They would have to find a place to stop before they got far out to brief Bea and Ryan. Maybe they would be more comfortable returning to Newnan, after. Or maybe they'd take the same stance as Gavin and himself. James leaned against his truck, looking at Beatrice for a few seconds. "This a hard road we takin'." he said softly, "Real hard. You sure you wanna ride this train?"

Ash Holloway

Location: Outer Gate

Ash stood by as people came up to James one at a time, giving their goodbyes and a couple of parting gifts. After his last words with Ryan, he had said nothing, preferring to stand at parade rest and wait out the remaining few minutes until James's departure. Check that. James's group's departure. Ash had made mention that people should know what was going on, one of the reasons cited being In The Event that someone wanted to join him. He didn't actually expect any takers. Well, the joke was on him. There were a couple. Plus the new guy, apparently.

Ash risked a look back to Thana, who was standing quite cool and reserved. He knew for a fact that she was capable of intense passion. He'd experienced it firsthand. But right now, she was the vision of restrained professionalism, backing him up with her mere presence. Thana reminded Ash of himself, not too long ago, when he operated as the Second in Command to Lt. Colonel Leann Joyce McCormick. His duty was to act in the manner of an Executive Officer, advising and carrying out the orders of his direct superior. Ash was a fine Second. An even better small unit commander. And a stellar engineer. Being in full command? It was something he had to get used to. Thana seemed to flow seamlessly to and from "Officer Mode". For a moment, Ash wondered if he came off that way, and Thana had similar thoughts underneath the ice of her expression.

But for now, James was at his truck. He had said his goodbyes. And the last minute of his allowable presence in town had arrived. James had a full tank of gas in his truck, he had companions, and despite the fat that he was technically in exile, he obviously had the blessings of the people of Newnan. Ash could not act in a manner that showed generosity or kindness past standard, however. He was the man passing sentence on him. It pained him, though. James was his best friend in the world, and he was being set out into the world. Admittedly, it was probably the best sendoff that a convicted murderer had ever gotten in the history of civilized humanity. "Commander Martin, back me up." he spoke quietly but solidly, before his approach.

Ash walked up to James, right within striking distance. In a clear voice, addressed James and the rest of those assembled. "James Mandingo Grady." It was probably the last time he would get to use his full name in front of him, and one had to take opportunities where they showed themselves. "You have confessed to the murder of Richard Johnson, a citizen of the Newnan Safe Zone. Due to extenuating circumstances and exemplary service to the community, your sentence has been reduced from execution to exile." His face was stone. Inside Ash was hurting, but no one except those closest to him would be able to tell. James certainly could, and his expression reflected it.

"Sentence is to be carried out immediately." He handed over James's axe, pressing it into his hand and holding onto it for a second before letting go. Ash then produced the man's 9mm pistol, ejected the magazine, and cleared the chamber. He handed all three to James, one at a time. The bullet and magazine went first, but Ash held onto the weapon for a second, as if debating something. He pressed it to James's chest and leaned in close. By the time James had his hand up to receive the pistol, Ash had whispered something very quietly to him. He looked the man in the eyes to make sure that he both heard and understood.

It was only a word or two, but the relief and gratitude in James's face was palpable. The look lasted for half a second, quickly replaced by quiet determination. The girthy blackneck nodded three times, and turned to move back to his truck. Ash's voice rang out in proper military fashion, "Security detail! Proceed."

"You always gonna be Bossman to me, Cap'n! No matter what, you my friend, hear me? No matter what." The detail pressed together as James climbed into his big, extended cab truck. He started the engine, feeling the vehicle come to life, just as the front gates opened. Leaning out of the driver's side window, he called to Thana, "You see to him, huh? Make sure he's okay, okay? I believe in you, girl, and it was great seein' you again!"

The truck slowly rolled out of the main gates of Newnan, which were opened just enough to accommodate the width of the vehicle. As soon as he was through, they closed back shut with a single, final-sounding clang. The truck pulled up a couple more meters and stopped; you see, he had an appointment to keep.

Location: North Of Newnan (Veterans Memorial Park - Corner of Temple Ave. & Jackson St.)

The water had come up to temperature, at least well enough to use for MRE instant coffee. Thalia took a moment for herself to prepare a cup of the hot, black liquid. She would dig into her breakfast, but not yet. This morning, the erstwhile pugilist decided to settle back and slowly enjoy her cup of morning coffee, now something of a luxury item. Even if it was instant. She doubted that she would see another crop of coffee again in her life, unless she was able to get back to Mexico. Even then, being in an area with enough survivors to tend a crop not essential for survival? The odds were very much against it. She could think of worse ways to spend her days than surviving on an abandoned coffee farm outside of Monterrey, hunting and foraging, brewing fresh coffee year-round and making subtle teas from its leaves. Or, to make Lola absolutely lose her mind, there were cocoa plantations near her family's hometown, and several small scale growers of both coffee and chocolate in and near the city.

Thalia shook off those thoughts. The world in which she lived was not one of opportunity, it was a place where hard decisions had to be made to live to see the next day. Maybe she would get something that resembled a Happily Ever After with family, friends, and the capacity to consume her fill when it suited her, but that day was a while off, if it ever was going to happen. Right now, she was going to sip her freeze-dried, instant coffee, and be grateful that she had everything she had.

And in the more immediate, she was going to address a mild concern with the new guy in their midst. "Asking a lot of questions there, Alexander. Bunch of stuff we might not be able to ansah." Mild irritation had brought out her Boston, if only slightly. "But like Lola said, we're not headed southwest. Between what she's got and what I can find, there's no need to go checking in on every line of smoke on the horizon." She sipped her coffee, breathing a sigh of partial contentment. "I'm curious myself, but it's not worth the risk."

Amelia Payne

Location: Outer Gate

Everything was going on around in quite the rapid pace. It almost made Amelia unable to keep complete track of everyone who was arriving and forming in groups. One more person decided to leave too. She wondered what would happen to heir housing now that Beatrice was gone. Would they assign another person to them? That wouldn't be a bad thing since having people around could be quite good from defense stand point, but who knew at this point.

Riley's loving and reassuring gestures, made Amelia smile at the musician, before focusing on Chloe's words. They indeed were running out of time and she'd better move and talk with James before it's too later!” Yes, you are right.” She said.

That said it was so hard to speak and Amelia nearly jumped when James was the one to speak out first. She gulped and made a face struggling to keep her tears in check, she did try though.

“I'm going to miss you too, James!” She finally managed to call out to him with trembling voice.” Will look forward to meeting again!” She continued, biting down on her lips to keep the tears away by focusing on something else. She had to hold them in at least until he leaves. One of her friends was going to leave and she had the gravity of bad feelings crush her right now. This world was not nice. Chances were those who venture outside will be dead soon. Even inside the walls it wasn't safe as last night proved.

She looked at Ash speak and then James leaving. She waves as the truck left the confines of the settlement and then when the gate finally was shut, she couldn't take it anymore and her tears rushed out as water from a broken dam.

It seemed like others would be leaving with James, Beatrice among them. This put her a little bit at ease knowing James wouldn't be doing this alone, but that also meant they would be losing even more people. That didn't settle her down too much. At the mention of saying goodbye to Beatrice, Tiffany nodded at Ray before James walked over to them. He was right too, maybe they would see him out on runs. "I'll miss you too James. Good luck out there." She gave him a warm smile before he walked off to say goodbye to the others.

She made her way over to Bea, waiting for her turn to speak to her. "I hear you'll be leaving with James. I'll miss you Bea. Take care of each other out there." All she could do was offer her words. She didn't want to take up too much of their time. She stepped back with Ray and leaned on him. This was not going to be an easy transition. While they were losing more people, they were gaining some others. Unless the two new men were leaving too? She expected the soldier woman, Thana, would be staying. Either way, this wouldn't do well for morale, even if they all left on good terms.
