"Mister skelly means business! Alex! Go heal-Oh, you’re already going!" Lily shouted after the already departed Alex as she kept moving around the courtyard of the museum, having dodged a swooping pterodactyl at the rooftop and shot it in the wing, causing it to fall. But there were more of them coming as time went on, and soon a pack circled the area. She regrouped with Su and rina, and nodded, a determined look on her face.
"A phylactery, got it! I’ll get in for a closer look!"

Mika nearly failed to summon the portal as an undead triceratops charged at her, but it was stopped by one of the Ascendancy triplets who blocked it with her halberd, her heels scraping against the concrete courtyard of the museum as she slid back from the momentum. “No you don’t-NGH!” She grunted, showing great strength as the dinosaur was stopped. This gave the beastly dancer girl enough time to create the interdimensional entrance, wide as a barn door.

Su’s tornado disrupted the flow of dark magic around the portal, preventing the bones from entering it and halting the wave of undead monsters that poured forth. The bones were then shot out, hitting two more undead pterodactyls and sending them crashing to the ground , while a larger bone was launched at an undead ankylosaurus; the beast swung its hammer tail and splintered the bone mid-air. Other bones hit various other dinos, immobilizing some and knocking others over. A couple of undead velociraptors leapt at Su in a pack attack, but Rina shot them in the leg, causing them to fall over and saving her.

Mr. Bulk noticed this, and slowly floated towards Su, his skull jaw wide open. “Foolish mortal! You have meddled enough in my plans!” He aimed his golden staff at her, only to be distracted by a lightning bolt cast by Lily who dashed towards him. “Another street rat!” Mr. Bulk shot a magical projectile resembling a spinning black scythe, but Lily dodged it with an elegant flip.
"Too slow, skellyman!"
As she continued weaving through the lich’ barrage of spells, Rina got her chance to observe the lich in action, and noticed that the orbs on his shoulder pauldrons seemed to faintly shimmer with every spell, if only for a split second. Lily’s eyes widened as she also realized something.
"I think his staff has phylacter-Kyah!!" Lily was caught by a surprise backhand, sending her flying right into the open mouth of an undead carnosaur, swallowing her whole.
“There, feed upon the street rat! HAHAHAHAHAA!”

Some smaller undead dinosaurs that rose from the portal were slammed by Alex’ ankylosaurian tail, beating the majority to submission. That was when one of the larger dinosaurs, an undead giganotosaurus, took notice of the bestial magical boy, and charged right at him; the beast was slightly larger than the tyrannosaurus rampaging towards the triplets and Tetrad, with great sharp teeth bared in full. The moment Alex reached the rooftop and set a protective barrier, the giganotosaurus bashed its head into the barrier, followed by clamping it’s jaws around the shield, cracking it in an alarmingly short amount of time. However, Alex managed to bring the sniper girl back to consciousness as her dark-tainted wounds closed clean. As she opened her eyes and saw him, a deep red color flushed over her cheeks, followed by a pained expression. “I-It’s not like I...Needed to be rescued...By a monster like you...” But despite the pain that clearly wracked her, she lifted herself up like a trained soldier, ready to leap away from the giganotosaur the moment the barrier would break or be dispelled.

Meanwhile, the remaining triplets assaulted the ogre mages in melee, cutting down one each in perfect unison. The two held their own against the smashing blows of the ogres as they countered with their tree trunk staves, but had to scatter once the tyrannosaur arrived; it lifted one of the ogres by clamping down over it with its jaws and threw it at a triplet, knocking her against a wall from the impact. “Hrgh! These undead are strong, even by dinosaur standards!”
They then heard Su’s voice, and shouted back: “We’ll cover you! Go for the summoner!”

The Overcity gate guards raised their eyebrows, and looked at each other with confused looks. “Penrose? I heard that the city was abandoned and left for the monsters.” “And that the Ascendancy had to step in.” However, they seemed convinced of Valkyrie’s sincerity, though they did give suspicious looks at Deni. “You will take responsibility for any misdeeds your companion may make.” They then hit the bottoms of their halberds to the ground, and a magical rune appeared on the gate, opening it. “There are currently no active portals that could lead you there,” one of them spoke as the gate finished opening. “But I have heard of a delivery service by a magical girl named Jill who can deliver anything instantaneously. You should ask for her at the Magical Services district. We have spoken.” And so, the two took their guarding stance again, and let the two pass them.

Nothing could prepare the two for the view that awaited them beyond the Crystal Curtain; there were buildings of many stylish, both ancient and modern, and signs with strange and mystic runes on them scattered everywhere. While some shone with arcane illumination, the brightest signs belonged to shops and restaurants, with fantastic imagery and wordplay among them. The streets were bustling with magical folks both familiar and weird; magical girls and boys walking beside fairies, dragons and even strange monsters outside the realm of imagination.

The two had to hold hands tightly to avoid being separated by the current of mass that drifted in one direction or another. Some magical girls could be seen above, riding on brooms and skateboards enchanted with flight, while others rode flying mounts like griffons and pegasi. The air was fragrant with scents of flowers and berries, mixed in with more questionable smells, resulting in a mostly neutral mix of olfactory sensations. As they observed their surroundings, they noticed that the street itself seemed to slightly move similar to a conveyor belt, helping them move faster in any direction they wanted. The buildings themselves rose high into the clouds themselves, each one as tall as Bhurj Dubai, if not even more. Valkyrie and Deni now had to decide on their next course of action.

Helga gnashed her teeth as the Endsinger’s magic rumbled against her; though she could not see the sounds that came from it, and thus did not fall completely for her enragening spell. However, it was enough to make her tense up, as thoughts of violence crept up in the corners of her mind, causing her to strike even harder at the ghosts, her eyes more intense. Worse still, as she could not hear the chaos of the battlefield around her, she was oblivious of Lupa’s monstrous change.

Still fighting against the swarm of ghosts, cutting the ethereal figures like flailing cobwebs, Helga was unaware of the wolf pouncing upon her. But, in that fateful moment, Emily sacrificed herself, and threw herself in the way, and intercepted the wolf’s bite with her arm. Wolf-Lupa’s fangs easily punched through her defenses, and crushed the bone, while her claws stabbed her sides. It was then, as blood sprayed, that Helga only noticed what had transpired. “LUPA!” She screamed loudly enough for people to hear over the music, and performed a stabbing uppercut on the wolf while it was biting into Emily, hitting it right in the abdomen. Then, she released the charge of Sound Magic she had through her palm cannon, delivering an explosive blast of high-frequency sound. Even if she was her friend, she would not be holding back against her, as she had someone more important waiting for her at home.

After the blow knocked Lupa-Wolf back and the two of them got a moment of reprieve, she turned and saw what happened to Emily, and her eyes widened. “Fire Chick!” She shouted, and with a touch of her shoulder applied the deafening enchantment on her as well, sparing her from the cacophonous concert as she reeled from the injury. She had nothing to say to Emily, even if she could hear her; her actions would speak more than any words. Then, anticipating another attack, she took a defensive stance, claws held up, ready to grapple the wolf monster and in turn help protect the one who saved her life.

“Ooh, good one rookie!” FanFan giggled at the one-liner Dawn made, and made sure the Bouncer would be unable to dodge the blazing beam by using her robotic arms to grab hold of hislegs, causing the Bouncer to be pierced by thesearing projectile. At the same time, she used her normal hands to cast a spell, causing a metal shield resembling a plate to expand from her arms and cover her above, preventing the Bouncer from being able to punch or grapple her away with his numerous arms without first breaking the shield. She then continued casting layer after layer of metal over the plate while still tightly holding on; Dawn now saw how the Ascendancy agent was a master of both melee and magic, able to perform both tasks simultaneously while lesser fighters would only be able to accomplish one of the two.

Leena skid to the side of the Bouncer and deflected a punch aside with one of her arms, only to counter with another and slice it right off. Of course, it barely diminished the monster’s attack power as he had more than enough to compensate. But this was just a warmup; the incredibly agile magical girl proceeded to perform an empowered cross-slash, her swords glowing brightly.
“We don’t have time for fodder.” The slashes seemed to extend beyond the swords’ reach, bisecting the Bouncer in a single slash. What was a fearsome monster easily able to hold its own against even a large group of regular magical girls was effortlessly taken down by the teamwork of the two veterans, falling in an earth-shaking tremor. Leena continued moving towards Endsinger without skipping a beat, slashing forwards through the ghosts like they were blades of grass. “Dawn, flank her!”

“There are many indeed who have yet to comprehend the wondrous flavor of green tea,” Cindy stated, and sipped on her cup, as she listened to Chloe. She stifled a burst of laughter at her initial answer, and then gave a knowing smile once she gave a more comprehensive one. “I understand how you feel, Chloe. My subjects also come before all else.” She poured some more tea; Chloe saw that a warm glow now emanated from the crackling monster’s cheeks.
“They are my treasure, my precious. And I won’t let anyone hurt them; not the Ascendancy, or anyone else.” She poured some more tea for Chloe. “They need someone to guide them, to show them the path to the future. And only I can bear that cross as leader of Penrose, for it is my destiny.” She took another sip, and was approached by one of the residents of the shelter. “Oh, a new arrival? Take her to me.”

She then turned her attention back to Chloe. “As we share a common belief of protecting those under our rule, I have a proposal: join me in an alliance, so that we may crush the despots of the Ascendancy together, and deliver an age of peace and prosperity to Penrose to all.” She then stood up. “Now, I have other business to attend to. You may now enjoy the entertainment in the television room if you wish to. Think about my offer.” With that, she walked away.

Eliza was guided by one of the dark magical girls occupying the shelter to an underground chamber titled “Television room” by the words scraped on the door. It was here where other monster girls and dark magical girls were watching internet videos; they used a smart phone hooked up to a wall projector by a bootleg cord installation, and sat around in old chairs and sofas that were salvaged and repaired. A fail compilation was currently running, causing the crowd to scream and holler in laughter. Cindy then arrived in the chamber, and approached Eliza. “Greetings, visitor to my realm. I am Cindy, the queen of Penrose,” she addressed herself. “Are you a friend of Penny the Home Builder? Or did you happen to find this place by chance?” She asked, curious to hear her answer. “Regardless of reason, all who are lost and abandoned are welcome in my domain as long as they do not seek to harm my subjects. Now, tell me your name.”

Penny easily smashed through the feeble monsters, her fists tempered in battle against foes far greater. She got a few scratches and bites, but her Regeneration made them futile efforts to stop her rampage. At the end of it, she was surrounded by foul corpses that slowly degraded into black ash, scattering into the cold winds of winter. But, as she was about to move on, she heard somebody approach.

From a dark alley, she saw the silhouette of a female shape slowly walking towards her. But, as the light of the moon illuminated the arrival, Penny couldn’t help but reel back at the sight; she resembled an insectoid robot with a human woman’s shape at first glance, with a helmet fitted with mandibles. Her body was covered from head to toe with sleek interlocking plates, resembling a kind of futuristic power suit, but Penny realized that it was neither of those things; she seemed like such a mix of biological and mechanical elements that no distinction could be made between the two. The outer ridges of her body seemed to slightly shift and lock into place, like the chitinous armor itself was alive and sentient, microscopic needles popping any snowflakes that would touch her. It was like nothing seen on this planet, suggesting she was an extraterrestrial magical girl.

“Stagnation...” A voice mixing a woman’s with that of higher-frequency buzzing came from the monster girl. “I have searched long, but at last I have found you.” She lifted an arm to her side, and a curved blade sliced out from her elbow, clearly as much a part of her body as the arm itself. “As Laat Al’O Fan is my witness, I won’t rest until your whole being is destroyed and made anew!” And then, with speed matching Penny’s at her fastest, she dashed forward, clearly aiming to swing her blade at her; she saw how the edge was now covered in some kind of greenish-black liquid, as if the weapon itself excreted it.

Rachel’s gaze stayed stern as Aurelio expressed his sentiments about the Ascendancy, but she did blink when he mentioned Penny’s name. “So it is true then…” She spoke back, surprisingly lenient with Aurelio. “The soulless automaton has been granted our sacred Spark.” She then continued listening, surprisingly possessing more tolerance than before for the magician’s defiant behavior, likely due to the revelation he gave her as well as him agreeing to her order. Her arms crossed, she seethed with resentment towards him when he was done. “There is also no place for an attitude like yours. As punishment, you will be attending the trial. Dismissed.” She scoffed as Aurelio teleported, and then disappeared herself, leaving the Confessional empty.

Kimble quietly purred as her locks of hair were swept by Alicia’s gentle touch, her company solace in the dreary atmosphere they found themselves trapped in after Juliana abruptly left, seemingly called in for an assignment. Sylvia seemed to wake from a trance-like state as she was nudged, blinking with a look of surprise. “” H-Huh? Alicia…” She spoke quietly, appreciative of her encouragement. Sally on the other hand seemed to still be depressed. “Chance? I don’t like my chances, and they’re the best around.” She replied, and went on to stuff her face with cake. “But Alicia is right,” Sylvia spoke, and lifted herself up to sit properly. “There is still one way that you can survive.” She took a deep breath, and then, in a low voice, said:

“You need to lie.”

Kimble’s ears sprung up in surprise, and Sally gasped. “Wait, what? You mean-”

“Correct,” Sylvia interrupted. “I am the one who led us into this mess, and it is my burden to bear. I will take responsibility for everything that’s happened here. But to do that, you must all corroborate my story, and accuse me.” She turned to Alicia, and placed her hand on her shoulder. “That means you too, Alicia.”

Sally blinked. “But wait, didn’t Rachel say that there’s going to be Light users at the trial? Wouldn’t our lies be exposed?”

Sylvia shook her head. “Based on the way she reacted, I don’t think so. It is possible that the Ascendancy doesn’t have any active Light girls employed under them. Which means you will be the only one who can detect lies, Alicia.” Her eyes turned sadder. “I know, it sounds crazy. But this is our only chance to avoid having everyone executed. So please, Alicia...”

At that moment Juliana teleported into the hall, having taken a disciplined pose with her arms behind her. “Line up and follow me; the trial shall begin soon.”

Sylvia looked at her, and then whispered to Alicia’s ear: “Promise me you will do the right thing.” Then, she was lifted up by Juliana, followed by the others, who then began their walk towards the Hall of Divine Judgement.

Her encouragement may not have had an even effect on everyone, but Alicia remained resolute in her belief. They would face this, and they would deal with it together.

Or perhaps not, as Sylvia explained her plan. The Seraph tensed, frowning anew as the plan was laid out. Play along? Accuse Sylvia of everything? It was a selfless, a noble thing to do to sacrifice herself for the sake of everyone else there. Knowing who they were dealing with, it was a good choice.

Yet despite that she could not shake the feeling gnawing at the pit of her stomach. So many of the decisions that they were being accused of, so many things they had done, those had been because of her. She might not have been involved with the ShineSpark, but she was the one who had spared Kimble, who had invited the alliance with Penny, who had cured Janet. If anyone deserved to be executed for that, it was her.

Yet she kept those thoughts to herself, doing the very thing that Sylvia wanted her to do. “I promise,” she muttered back before rising to her feet and moving to follow to the Hall of Judgment.

As the others in turn began to stand and follow the procession to the Hall of Judgement, however, Serenity felt something drop into the bottom of her stomach at the thought of Sylvia’s plan. On one hand she couldn’t deny that Sylvia had some points...especially about the likely lack of Light girls...but at the same time the idea of going along with that plan felt insane. Her heart throbbed at the idea of a sacrificial lamb being made out of Sylvia, if it even worked, and the maid felt she knew Alicia well enough to at least think the other girl might just follow through with Sylvia’s request.

Yet standing up and following along as Juliana beckoned them to follow her, though at first within her mind shouting out a silent prayer to the spark or whatever righteous force could save them and poor Sylvia, Serenity eventually looked over to the girl as she walked along near her. For a second she thought back to the other girl’s glimmer of kindness and compassion, performed in giving them cake and asking for her name, as something within her seemed to bubble up from deep down. The pale-haired magical girl then lightly bit her lip, before she felt the words roll off of her lips.

“To answer your question...my name is Serenity...Serenity Gates. I am one who has sworn a Vow of Compassion, a thing which I pray will hold true this day.”

“Serenity...That is a beautiful name.”
Juliana did not look back, devoted to her duty of escorting the accused, but Serenity saw a glimpse of sorrow coming from her, followed by a softer expression. “I will pray for you.”

Aurelio would appear in a muted flash of light beside the procession before they had made it into the Hall of Judgement, his hat and monocle donned once more and an easygoing smile yet again gracing his lips. “Hey everyone” He would greet softly as he matched step with the group as they ventured into the Hall of Judgement. “Glad I was able to make it”

Despite his relaxed appearance, one could still see his lingering frustration due to tight grip he had on his cane and sharper than normal edge to his gaze, though considering the dark mood hanging onto those that were accused perhaps it would go unnoticed? Regardless he wasn’t one to allow his friends to wallow if he could help it and slowly and softly a mix of Calm and Confidence would emanate out from him and lightly settle upon his allies. No real magic was instilled with the emotions, he didn’t want to risk the accusations that might come from any buffs, but a bolstering of moral sometimes had a stronger effect than any spell, which was his aim to begin with.

He did not know what was coming, but he would stand with his friends as best he could.

Juliana opened the gates, and the girls saw that the Hall of Divine Judgement had changed; unlike the futuristic look from before, with the holes on the floor and ceiling, it now resembled a courtroom from the renaissance period, with seats on either side of a walkway that led to a podium where the accused were sent to stand. On the far side of the court were seats for the Ascendancy as the jury, as well as the Beckoners above them; like Colonel Cuddles, none were recognizable. They also looked unnerving and ominous compared to the cute and angelic Beckoners the girls were used to.

Aurelio was guided to a seat in the audience as the praying girl he saw before took the seat of the judge. The entire time, she continued silently praying with her hands clasped together and eyes closed. She sniffled, and Rachel, standing next to her, called out: “Cardinal Isthar has called the court to order.” At those words, the entire chamber, including the members of the Ascendancy, all turned deathly silent.

Then, a minute later, Isthar lowered her head again in a slow nod, and Rachel continued: “The members of Beacon belonging to the Penrose branch are accused of the following sins: colluding with monsters, witchcraft, severe neglect of one’s duty, abandonment of one’s area of jurisdiction for months, and severe heresy,” she added, giving a look at Aurelio specifically. “How do you plead?” Tsuki asked, standing on Isthar’s left side.
“I plead guilty!” Sylvia suddenly spoke up, before anyone else had a chance to. “I was the one who ordered Alicia to spare Kimble and any other nonhostile monster including Penny. I was also the one who decided on making the White Coins, and distributing one to Penny. This is because I don’t believe that killing of monster girls or other innocents, regardless of how corrupted or evil they may seem. I hoped to convert Penrose into my beliefs by force, but I failed.” She then sighed, and made a meaningful look to Alicia. “I now realize it is all my fault. However, my wish is that you spare the others, for they are innocent,” she added, and then turned silent. Tsuki put a hand to her chin, clearly thinking, while Rachel simply glared; Alicia couldn’t tell if she saw through Sylvia’s lie or not. It was not clear if Isthar listened until she slowly nodded again. Rachel now asked: “Alicia Hayden and Serenity Gates, can you confirm Sylvia Starshine’s statement, or otherwise corroborate her story?”

Black Sky Moritomi

Kaito had thought it was weird when the catgirl suddenly dropped in front of him. Usually other girls would run after seeing his avian legs, but this girl seemed to like them for some weird reason. Well, she looked like a monster girl, so perhaps it was a feeling of camaraderie among abnormal looking people. Kaito didn’t have long to think on it before she suddenly gave him a very wet, very shivery hug. Kaito’s eyes widened; for a moment he thought she went in for an attack, but there she was, holding him. It ended as fast as it began, but the damp feeling she left stayed.
”You’re… welcome?” He spoke, but it seems she wasn’t listening, having already left.

That… was weird. Kinda nice, though. Most people want to kill me. A hug is a great change of pace. He shivered slightly in the cold as he felt the dampness start to sink in. ...Aside from her being soaking wet. He prepared to take flight again, trying to find the “prey” that the Queen told him about...

Then the wights and ogres showed up. Then the prehistoric skeletons. And then they became prehistoric zombies. Like… really? Zombie dinosaurs? This city was weird enough without dinosaurs, thank you very much, much less zombie ones. And then a bunch of magical girls showed up, clearly intent on dealing with the sudden influx of ghouls.

This is what I get for being complacent, he thought bitterly, summoning a brace of spectral swords hovering around him, eyes already darting about for some suitable shadows to dive into. He had to move fast- he had to go after the source, before it got to summon too many minions and overwhelmed them all.

Then again, he thought, watching the Inquisition girls curbstomp some wights, they seem to be handling it pretty well so far.

Do not get comfortable, Champion. Even an ordinary necromancer would be a fearsome foe. This creature is far beyond that. You must proceed with caution.

Kaito wasn’t overly enthused at the prospect, listening to the thing blather on about being “extinction” or whatever. Even worse if I have to listen to him rant the whole time. His eyes caught a sufficiently deep pair of shadows; one somewhat nearby, just behind the undead vanguard, and one closer to the museum, where the Lich awaited.

Perfect. Now he just had to get the rabble out of the way. He ran forward, ghostly swords weaving and thrashing around him as he aimed to flank the wights and destroy them with his newly summoned weapon.

Kimble's sad countenance turned to a genuine, if struggling, smile upon seeing Alicia. "Mistress, I'm glad you're here. Sorry for having to be rescued again..." She mewled, and closed her eyes. "Those other girls...They called Mistress a traitor," she bared her fangs. "They said many hurtful things about you. I couldn't stand it, so...I took revenge. But I wasn't strong enough..." She let her tail fall to the ground; the tip of its fur was burnt off. "I'm sorry, Mistress."

Rachel pointed her finger at Kimble. "That thing gouged an eye out from one of your fellow sisters!" She retorted, and then shifted her pointing to Alicia. "And you will answer for having brought a beast to our holy grounds." She turned away, facing the exit as she listened to Serenity's question, and reached her hand up to her chest as if to clutch something; this gave Aurelio his chance to sneak in some healing magic to Kimble, before the Inquisitor faced the girl.
"...Any lies at the trial shall be known by a user of light magic. Aurelio, follow me. Violet, your squad may take a rest. Inform the next squad to move in on U-Type 3."
Violet saluted, a big grin on her face.
"Understood, Inquisitor."
She activated the teleporter, and the squad disappeared. Kimble, soothed by the magic, pressed her head against the bars of the cage, causing one of her ears to flop out. "Please, mistress...Could you pet me, one last time?"

Rachel took the dapper magical boy back to the Confessional. She still seemed imposing and accusatory, but this time she spared him the physical abuse as she crossed her arms. "I am aware of the Vow you have taken, Tanner; you have sworn to uphold Kindness in all matters. Thus, it is possible you are innocent in all this. However," she bluntly stated, "to fully prove yourself as loyal to Beacon and its cause, we need you to perform a mission."

She began circling the interrogation table Aurelio was sitting at; her image accordingly shifted on the wide mirrored window set to the back wall. "A dark magical girl calling herself "Vi-chan" is going to hold a meeting of corrupted beings under the guise of a party. You will use your connections to the underground magical girl population, and find out the location and time of this party. If you do this successfully, you will be pardoned for your sins."

She stopped, and pulled out a bracelet from her pocket; it resembled an electronic health measuring device, with a different set of runes and a small interface of buttons and a LCD screen. "This device will transmit any audio in your vicinity straight to our database, allowing us to listen in. It has been enchanted to be immune to scrying magic such as Third Eye, so as long as you keep it under your sleeve nobody can detect it. Any questions?"

It was at that moment that Juliana teleported back in the containment area; she entered the cell, having brought a strawberry cake to the prisoners. "Here. You must be hungry." She set the tray down, and cut the cake into slices. She then gave each one a plate and spoon to eat the cake with. "Thank you," Sylvia quietly spoke, having begun eating quietly she was visibly distraught by what had happened to Kimble.
Sally on the other hand had begun to cry, and sobbed as she also expressed her gratitude. "Cake as my last meal...Well, I suppose my weight doesn't matter at this point, ehe..." She attempted to joke, but it fell flat. After giving Alicia her plate, she then went to Serenity. "My name is Juliana," she then spoke to the maid girl. "I do not recognize you." She held the plate towards her. "May I ask you for your name?"

Helga soon arrived at the graveyard, grimacing at the sight of the ghostly concert. "What the hell? This place might as well not be a graveyard with all this not-actually-dead going on around here." As soon as she heard some kind of music playing, her eyes widened, and her sharp teeth were bared. "Sound magic!" Using her Specialization, she created sound-nullifying plugs inside her ears, deafening her. She then ran forwards, spotting Lupa already in the fray. "LUPA!" She screamed, and extended her claws, joining her in the fight. Together, with both of them using a bestial, wild style of combat, they synergized well in a feral dance destroying the specters surrounding them.

Brittany nodded, smiling as Su bought the Ether Staff.
‘An excellent choice, ma'm! The Ether Staff will enhance your magical abilities when used.‘ She watched as everyone left running out the door, and put her hands to her hips.
‘Well that went well, Agatha!‘ She turned to her Patron, and patted him on his head, giggling like a child.
‘Now, let's go look for Sammy, starting at the Pit Stop.‘ She closed the shop, and hopped on her flying broom, exiting in a fashion most witch-like.

Lily sped through the mostly empty streets, no longer deterred by traffic like before. In a way, she was glad there weren't as many civilians around, as they would then be safe, but on the other hand she knew this wasn't normal, that people should be free to walk these streets without fear. She had been complacent for too long; now she had to act.

She thought about going higher to look for Alex, but was surprised as she heard his voice in the distance.
"Alex! Get on!" Lily shouted back, and braked in a circle, creating a donut-shaped trail in the snow before Alex had hopped on and she continued on her way.
"You ran off without me!" She scolded him; even though he couldn't see her expression, he could tell she was upset.
"Don't you realize how dangerous that is! You could get hurt and I wouldn't know! You dummy!"
To make her point, she decided to pass through a tight alleyway at full speed in an effort to slightly spook him.
"Don't ever do that again, Alex. Anyway, I saw the news, and there's monsters! Get ready!"

Rina's sword shot sliced through the tough hide of the undead sabertooth tiger, and mid-pounce its head was separated from its shoulders, causing it to slump down, its head rolling to its side. But then, the headless body rose up, and slowly stalked towards Rina, the tiger head snarling, one eye still on her.

Lily and Alex had reached the back entrance of the museum of natural history, and skidded to a stop. The two of them heard disturbing roars and screeches coming from the front side.
"Let's try and get them by surprise this time,"
Lily spoke in a lower voice, and hopped up to the roof, waiting for Alex to catch up before she moved stealthily forward, her bow held in her hands like a huntress in the forest.

There, floating on the other side and with his back to them was the bulky lich; he was laughing and swinging his golden scepter back and forth, unleashing more necromantic magic by the second. Lily took aim, pulling back on her bowstring made of crackling electricity, and waited for Alex to make his move before she would a Barrage of lightning arrows upon the undead sorcerer.

Mr Bulk once again was pierced by the electric arrows, and flinched from it, though it didn't seem to slow him down. "More vermin, here to squirm before their last breath!" He pointed his staff towards the ground in front of the museum, and summoned another portal; this one was much bigger than the last one, a swirling abyss of black and purple. "Come to me, life forgotten by time!" Bones were drawn from the museum and thrown to the pool, from which even more dinosaur zombies emerged: megalodons, allosaurs, anykolaurs and more.

The triplet nodding, having accepted Tetrad's introduction as she swirled her halberd around, cutting the legs off a wight before landing a bisecting blow in a single motion. "You are correct. We have arrived here a fortnight ago, here to pick up the pieces of our outer siblings." Another triplet hopped in to block a strike aimed at her back, the two seemingly telepathic as they moved on to move in perfect synchronization with their swings and dodges. "We are Xelda, Yselda and Zelda." The third triplet landed from above balancing on her weapon, and joined the two in their deadly performance like she never left. "The Sworn Sisters, here to purge Penrose of magical pollution."

With the triplets blessed by Tetrad's suit of Swords and Kaito coming in with a flanking maneuver, the wights did not endure for long, hacked part in a hurricane of glinting steel. However, Kaito was not left unscathed, and suffered three hits on himself. He then came to realize he was inflicted with a curse, lowering his STR, AGI and VIT by -3 until the curse was lifted.

The spinning scythe cut through the undead ogre mage despite the resistance in their fattened gut, leaving an awful mess before the blade stopped and the ogre dissolved. And then, another ogre mage was shot down by the sniper girl, who had now crouched down at the edge of the rooftop to take her shots. However, this turned out to be a mistake, as the magic missiles shot by the ogres hit her. She rolled back to cover, but was too late; she was hit by the black orbs, an groaned in pain. One of the triplets cried out.

"Kai!"

Cindy had moved to a small corner of the hideout at one of the deeper levels when Penny returned; based on the desk and swivel chair carried there, it seemed to work as her temporary office of sorts. She turned around to greet Penny, holding a stack of laminated papers. "Oh, greetings, Penny!" She greeted, and smiled as she saw Chloe. "This must be your squire then. Ah, I jest," she added, and laughed in a conserved manner. "Penny has spoken many good things about you, Chloe. She also told me that you would be willing to join in an alliance. Would you like a cup of tea as we converse?" After learning that Penny would leave, she nodded. "Very well then. You are always welcome, Home Builder." She then gestured for Chloe to sit down at a nearby table. "So, tell me about yourself, Chloe. What do you treasure most?" She asked as she poured some tea.

Like Peter Pan leading Wendy to Neverland, so did Valkyrie take Ronin's hand, and the two flew off from the ruins of the castle. Though the magical realm they were in is known as the Overcity, it is actually part of a greater nexus of realms called The Sprawl; it can take many forms, from the most beautiful of vistas to the most horrifying of landscapes. Like a dream, it keeps ever shifting, and even major landmarks may move as they years go on. However, one place has always stood firmly in place, anchored by primordial magic; the Overcity.

Carried by magical winds, the two of them soon saw the Crystal Curtain; a great wall that separated the chaotic Sprawl from the nexus of magic, above the cities of mortals. The Curtain shimmered turquoise when seen from afar, though its colors shifted like the northern lights. The walls rose incredibly high, and patrolling the perimeter were magical girl guards, ever valiant.

Valkyrie knew that trying to cross by air would not only be foolish but outright suicidal, as the guards had the right to strike down any who would cross so. Instead, they found themselves at the gate; studded with jewels the size of car tires and engraved with great runes, the door was made of adamantite, the most durable malleable substance known in the magical world. Two magical girls were guarding the gates, and lifted their palms towards them. "Halt! State your name and business," they shouted out.

Helga realized that Su was interrupted by Vi's video, and paused the video with a sheepish smile. "Whoops, it was a bit loud. But here, look at these ones, so you'll get a better idea." The two moved a bit more carefull across the city, not because Su was distracted by the phone, but because of the threat of the Ascendancy discovering them. Fortunately, they didn't see any of them. "Come on, anybody can be dangerous under the wrong circumstances," Helga retorted. "Besides, it's not like hating on Beacon is a new thing." Fortunately, Su ended up agreeing with the party, which satisfied Helga. "I promise you you wont regret this, Su!" She said exhuberantly, and stepped inside the shop.

Brittany was already catering to Alex' purchases before the two girls entered.
‘A fine choice, good sir! Awareness is perfect for navigation, ensuring you never get lost! Just use that magical coin, and the magic is yours! Oh, and that one is very versatile!‘ She held a finger up as she explained. ‘That one allows you to manifest appendages depending on your Specialization! For example, you can use them for swinging around town like Spider Man!‘ She then smiled as the tails manifested. ‘I see, so a Beast magic specialist? Those tails look so fluffy!‘

After the purchases were done, she took the coins, and waved at the other girls who just arrived. ‘Welcome, welcome! Would you be two ladies be interested in some fine wares?‘
Helga gave a casual lift of her hand to Alex, a snarky look in her eyes. "Shopping, what else? At least you finally remembered my name, eh Ally-boy?" She then held back a giggle as Su went to touch one of the fluffy tails, and also grabbed one. "Oh right, Mariette. She doesn't look like much, but she's a real caster. I remember having visited her apartment once; looked real gothy and stuff. Wonder what happened to it," she kept talking absentmindedly, even as her claws continued ruffling up the tail fur in an unpleasant manner.

Helga blushed, then puffed her cheeks out, and laughed out loud at Su's joke. "Wow, Su, you have no tact!" She went closer to Su, having released the tail. "Besides, I don't need stuff like that when I have you~" She had a suggestive look in her eyes, followed by another burst of laughter. Brittany politely laughed along, though the twitch of her eyebrow told a different story. However, she returned back to her usual self as Su addressed her.
‘I can't really say,‘ Brittany then answered, a bit less peppy than before.
‘After all, I just arrived here, same as you girls. But with the Ascendancy causing trouble, I'm sure Cindy won't sit on the sidelines. She's going to make the city safe again for everyone. In case you're worried, I would recommend the Dragonscale Pendant.‘ She brought the item up, the chain dangling from her hand.
‘It can protect you from even the deadliest of attacks, and only needs a bit of time to recharge between uses, for only 1 Gold and 10 Bronze!‘ Helga hummed as she checked a shelf, and picked up two stones. "I'll buy these. It's 8 Bronze, right?" She placed the coins on the counter, and Brittany bowed as she took them. Helga then offered one to Su. "According to the description, these Friendship stones allows us to sense where the other one is. So.." She blushed. "I'd like you to hold on to it." But then, her phone rang, and Helga heard Lupa's voice. "An emergency!" She saw as Su also got the call. "Hold on, we're coming!" And so the two girls ran off, towards the source of the fighting.

"Vi-chan's so cool! I wanna go to her party!" Lily was browsing on her phone, watching video after video of the internet idol. But then, it dropped from her hand as she groaned.
"But I don't know howww..."
Suddenly, Ixion spoke up: "Lily, you must go! Monsters are on the attack!" Lily sprung up fro the sofa.
"But Alex is still-ah gees, I just gotta meet him halfway!"
She rushed to the balcony, and lifted her hand dramatically.
"Let my spirit gallop across the field of clouds, and strike my foes down with thunderous applause!"" And so, an even more elaborate transformation sequence ensued (as seems to happen), followed by her riding off with her bike towards Brittany's shop.

Cindy crackled with a giggle as Penny expressed her destructive urges. "I expected the vacation to loosen your gears," she added jokingly, and signalled to the crowd to quiet down on their video session. Her body glowed a bit brighter as Penny agreed to her plea for help, and offered not only information, but an alliance with Chloe's group. "How marvelous! We agree to this offer of yours." She then watched as Penny prepared to leave. "The Red Coin will be prepared by the time you return. Don't take too long, o chivalrous knight!"

Sally summoned her Shamrock Shooters and aimed them at the Ascendancy officer, causing everyone else to point their weapons at her. "We did nothing wrong, so back off! If you think you can bully us just because of your status, you've got another thing coming!" She shouted out though her arms trembled; she was scared. Sylvia also took a defiant stance, looking like she was about to summon her weapon as well, if hesitantly.

The officer scoffed.
"Sally, was it? I must say, you have been quite fortunate if your mission records are correct. But I wonder how far your luck will run..." She smiled in a wicked fashion, and began glowing purple...
Until Serenity interrupted with her own plea. Sally looked back with a hesitated face, and Sylvia's eyes widened back in surprise. The other Ascendancy members first looked at her, and then at the leading girl, who squinted her eyes. Then, as Alicia turned to look at Sylvia, she put a hand to her mouth, her irises shaky as she realized what she had done. "Alicia..." She whispered. nearly breathlessly. But, seeing the other girl's resolve despite the despairing situation, she found her spirits lifted.
Sylvia took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and in a twinkle, had also taken human form.
After she had transformed, she opened her eyes. Snowflakes slowly descended on her cheeks, but she did not blink.

"Now, Sally, Serenity...Please."

Sally's lips curled into a look of near-crying, her bunny-ear-like bow drooping. But, she nodded, dropped her hands down, letting her weapons fall to the snow before they disappeared, leaving behind four-leaf clovers pushing out of the snow. And so, she also surrendered, having also changed. "We reserve the right to stay silent!" She added, sticking her tongue out, followed immediately by Sylvia slapping her in the back of the head. "You make us sound like we're guilty!"
Finally, after seeing the decision of the others, even Serenity detransformed.
Violet made a disappointed duckface.
"Aww, that's it? And I was hoping to punish you heretics...Oh well. Juliana, cuff them." She pointed towards the group, and the tall silver-haired magical girl nodded. "Very well."

Sylvia and Sally held their hands out, and Juliana abruptly slapped a strange restraining device around their wrists; it was shaped like an infinity symbol, but was made of white stone, with glowing runes inscribed upon them. The stone cuffs made an audible sound, as if a stone lock was put in place, and they both sighed in defeat. "Still using these, huh?" She dryly commented as Alicia was also roughly cuffed; she felt how the cuffs sealed away her magical powers, preventing her from transforming.
"Updated for this century, but still effective," Violet spoke, and walked right up to Sylvia. She sensually touched Sylvia's chin, causing her to turn her head. "No need to replace what ain't broke~"
When it was Serenity's turn to be cuffed, Juliana was more gentle, and afterwards patted her shoulder. "Do not worry, lost lamb; you have been mislead by your sinful leader. I will ensure you will receive a fair trial."

Violet slapped her hands together.
"Alright, chit-chat's over! Ready for extraction, Colonel Cuddles!"
The Beckoner again appeared, and after it disappeared for a few seconds, everyone felt the familiar feeling of teleportation magic consume them.

After Aurelio was led out of the room by Rachel, Hudie turned her head towards Dawn; though it seemed like she wouldn't be able to see through the solid mask, Dawn could tell her eyes were upon her. However, she seemed less tense than before, likely calmed by Aurelio's magical doves that spread positive emotions in the room. "That is correct," she answered, and sat back down to watch the video Elora presented to them, and did not flinch as the glass spread over the table, having only lifted her hand before a stray piece of glass embedded itself in the spot. While Elora was busy repairing the screen, Tsuki pointed her crescent staff at Dawn, having also moved on from her rage-induced fit thanks to Aurelio. "She will likely not be going anywhere. But the U-types out there have begun inciting a panic in the populace, and must be immediately dealt with." Elora nodded. "Scanners have identified three L-class targets. One is headed toward the Museum of Natural History, another is playing music on a rooftop, and a third one is driving a truck across the city. The teleporters are primed for these locations." Hudie nodded. "Leena and Fanfan are waiting for you, Dawn. Follow your orders, and may the light of beacon shine your way." The regular Beacon members all saluted the Ascendancy members in a fear-inspired fashion.

Rachel had brought Aurelio to the containment sector of the HQ, an underground floor where captured monsters and other entities where kept for purification and/or execution. During the trip, she listened to Aurelio's confession, a stern look on her face. "A Lesser Force?" When asked on details, she got various answers including their name and appearance, as well as reasons for why they were brought there. In short time, the two entered the Confessional, a more elaborate name for an interrogation room.
"So, this Lesser Force looking like a dolphin took you to another dimension, and caused a time dilation?" She asked after she closed the door.

A couple of seconds later, she grabbed Aurelio by his collar. "Do you take me for an idiot, Tanner? How could a Lesser Force not only create an entire world by themselves, but also suddenly teleport the majority of magical girls of a single city there? Only Gods have that much power, and even they rarely use it to abduct so many magical beings at once; it would paint a massive target on their back!" Her glasses glinted menacingly. "Are you trying to cover for Sylvia? Willful collaboration with a heretic is grounds for excommunication." At that moment, the two heard the familiar sound of a teleportation. Rachel groaned. "We will continue this in a moment. Follow me, Tanner."

The two left the Confessional and headed to the central lobby of the containment area where Violet, her squad, and Sylvia's group had ended up.
"The target has been captured and detained," Violet reported with a salute and a smile.
"Awaiting further orders, Inquisitor."

Rachel saluted back with a nod. "Excellent work, Violet. Now, Sylvia Starshine." She turned to Sylvia, who averted her eyes. Rachel crossed her arms. "A trial will be held for you shortly. However, we are still preparing the Hall of Divine Judgement. Take them to the containment cell." Juliana and the others nodded, and brought them to their cell; it looked like a hospital waiting room and was just as huge, with clean white walls, a marble floor that reflected people like a mirror, and a ceiling sky blue in color. There were cots on the sides, and one corner was closed off by a partition for personal matters.

However, one thing made it instantly recognizable as a prison; a cage made of white stone was placed in another corner, also inscribed with runes. Kimble was in it; she was curled up and holding her tail, looking beat up; her cheeks were swollen, her eye was blackened and her jacket had slash and puncture marks. "M-Mistress...?" She asked with a whimper, and slowly sat up, holding the bars of the cage to lift herself up.

Rachel had a disdainful look. "Ugh, they should have put that savage out of its misery already. Anyway, we have a job for you, Tanner. Once you are done here, we'll return back upstairs." She turned to him, expecting him to share some words with Sylvia and the others as she waited by the sidelines.

Back at the war room, Tsuki observed via camera feed as Sylvia and the others were locked in the containment. "So she is the ringleader behind it all? Is this all the members accounted for?" Elora shook her head. "No, there's still a member missing...The monster."
Tsuki's eyes tightened. "So it is true? They actually let a monster into our ranks? Maybe..." She brought out an item from her pocket; a White Coin. "Based on the test results, they do embody the magic of the Beckoners and possess the potential for conducting purification. But there is other magic too...Witchcraft." Elora nodded. "The magical girls identified as being involved, Binky, Janet and Jenna, have been placed in containment."
Tsuki nodded, a hand on her chin as she kept looking at various feeds and data streams, the White Coin in her hand; she flicked it up on her thumb like Twoface. "But, we might be able to use this...We just need to make a definitive test. But first, check where she is currently; she is an R-type, so she should be connected to the public network.
"Checking..." Elora looked through the rapid streams of data, and then sighed. "I was about to pin it down, but she disappeared. She must have moved to another dimension again."
Tsuki groaned. "Well, focus on tracking the U-types for now. I'm sure that bucket of bolts will arrive here sooner or later. Then we can ask some questions."

The bulky lich, from hereon referred to as Mr. Bulk, was having the time of his unlife as he continued drifitng down the alleyway. "Nyeh heh heh! Now, let's see what-OW!" Rina's sword found its mark, and embedded itself in the monster's ribs, sticking out of his back like an oversized acupuncture needle. The lich turned to see another sword already fired his way, swatting it away only to get nailed by a third one; Rina had plenty of time to prepare her shots. Now with a sword sticking out of both his back and front, his jaw opened wide in anger. "Oh, a little kitten wants to play with me? Well, I'll show you some real cats!" He gained speed as he headed toward the museum, and was shrouded in drk magic that dripped down towards the building. "Yes, I can feel it...Billions of years of death, contained in bones most ancient. Now, rise once more, and answer your master!"

Suddenly, the wall of the museum was smashed, as a skeleton of a tyrannosaurus rex rampaged through it, roaring out without any observable way of doing so. Mr.Bulk aimed his golden staff at it, and rotten flesh once more encased the bones, transforming it into a dinosaur zombie. Other dinosaur zombies began storming out, including a pterodactly, a triceratops, and even a woolly mammoth. "Yes! YES! Five extinction events have harvested this world!" Rina then saw that a zombie sabertooth tiger ran out, jumping from the top of a stree light to the very rooftop she was on at alarming speed. "But I will be the sixth and final one! I will be the extinction event to end all life! HAAHAHAA!"

The sniper girl continued picking off the ogres, vanquishing two before she received a tap on the shoulder from her spotter an ducked; the ogres turned out to be mages, and conjured a swarm of small darkness spheres to spread out and hit the side of the building. The triplet that took to the melee against easily sliced through the wights with her halberd, cutting ten down. But the foul undead managed to score a couple of hits against her, causing her to visibly weaken with streaks of darkness now trailing from her back; clearly a life-draining curse was at play. Tetrad was fortunately at the scene, and using her cards, decapitated enough heads for the two of them to regroup. "Thank you, stranger," the triplet girl spoke, as another sister jumped down to cleave the horde, getting two in a single swing. "Let us work together, and banish these abominations back to resting in peace."
I'd say she is able to affect the electricity produced by other magical girls as well, but only those with lesser MAG than her. Otherwise, it's accepted.
@Phonic
Like ERode mentioned, Gifted could use a more defined description. Other than that, it's accepted.

"What is going on here? Hrrr, it's freezing!" Lily held her arms around her shoulders, shocked by the wintery realm she used to know as Penrose; she returned back to the rooftop she were on. But then, she blinked, and spread her arms to her sides.
"Well, I don't have to breathe in cold air, that helps a bit. And it's beautiful...Aah!"
She was startled by the sudden intrusion of a sound in her head; it was Ixion.
"Lily? You are safe!" The equine spirit spoke, his neighs rippled with static.
"Ixion, what happened here? Why is it winter?"
"That is because you have been gone from this world for two moons. Our bond was somehow severed, something I thought impossible. But now that you're here, we can-"
Lily poked the sides of her head with her index fingers.
"Before that, let me just process all this with Alex-Wait!" But it was no use, as Alex had already bounded far into the distance, causing Lily to lean forward with her hands balled into fists.
"Man, Alex can sometimes be a big goof. I know he loves his pets, but still, he shouldn't leav his girlfriend in the blizzard!"
With a huff, Lily nonetheless summoned Ixion in his motorcycle form, and rode off after him.

Lily was faster than Alex, and could have reached him at their home, but decided to take it slower as she listened to Ixion's exposition.
"So undead have been roaming rampant, and a new force of magical girls arrived to hunt them."
"Not just the lifeless vessels, Lily; the entire city is their hunting grounds."
"What does that mean?" She asked, though she received nothing but a crackling whinny from Ixion. But Lily was not deterred.
"Well then, I guess I need to find out."
Upon arriving at the apartment, she carefully stepped inside, having transformed back to human form.
"Alex? Are you there? Where did he go this time?" Fortunately, Bob was vigilant, and immediately came over to greet the green-haired girl with a nuzzle.
"Oh Bob, everyone! I'm glad you're alright! We didn't mean to leave you here for so long, I swear!" Bob didn't seem to care, and moved back to the kitchen. As Lily followed, she saw the note Alex left her.
"Grabbing magic swag...Be back later? Wait, wasn't there an ad on Glimmr?" Lily mumbled, and sat down on the couch, turning on the TV as she handled her phone. She gasped at what she saw.
"Oh, Brittany's opened her shop here! So that's why he ran off." She saw as the news mentioned report about the evacuation of Penrose, and frowned.
"It's that bad, huh?" She heard Ixion bray a bit, and nodded with a pump of her fist.
"Okay, as soon as Alex is back we'll go and help. Lily Lightning is back in town!"

Deni found herself in the middle of a vast field, patterned like a checkerboard. Forests of green could be seen from which jolly music could be distantly heard. Up above was a sky with countless shooting stars, as if it was raining starlight. Planets and star systems were visible with the naked eye and fantastic views could be seen all around, from floating islands to crystalline spires. Though she herself was not aware, this was a place her twin sister and former mistress had once seen.

In fact, it was the very shore of the lake where Eli had defeated Caroline.

The lake's water was still, reflecting Deni's changed countenance to her. She could see how she was no longer an amorphous monster that mimicked human shape, but instead a real girl. Next to her, she saw what looked like a set of stairs that descended down into a dark tunnel, facing towards the island on top of the lake. A great mound of rubble crowned the island; stone chunks scattered and broken, leaving only ruins of what once must have been a great castle of some kind. Deni then a magical girl resembling a valkyrie on the island, carrying a sign of some kind under her shoulder. The magical girl used a small hammer, and planted the sign before what once were the castle gates.

Once Alicia reached the ice rink, they saw Sylvia and Sally waving at them in greeting. However, the smiles they had were weak, and quickly faded as Sylvia spoke.
"Alicia, are you okay? Were you followed?" She looked past their shoulder, and smiled again upon seeing Serenity, who also managed to reach the meeting spot. "Did you see Aurelio on your way here?" Sally asked, shivering from the cold, her bunny ear-shaped bow folded into themselves. "I'm worried he might have gone straight to HQ..."
The girls moved from the entrance further into the ice rink, with Sally skating across the ice and nearly falling down. Sylvia however simply slid gracefully towards one of the walls of the rink. "We have a real situation going on here." She looked towards Serenity. "The Ascendancy came in here after we disappeared; they obviously reacted to the monster attacks that we were unable to repel, and came in to establish order. However, they won't stop until the whole city's purged." Sally frowned. "They're the big girls you call in when local girls aren't enough, you see." Sylvia nodded, and continued. "Even worse, they have been known to excommunicate entire branches of Beacon if they are judged heretics and traitors to Beacon as a whole. And...I think they may know-"

At that moment, the sound of a heel clacking against the ice caught everyone's attention. As they turned, they saw a petite girl in provocative military clothing slowly walk towards them, a cocky smile on her lips.
"Target located," she spoke, and a Beckoner appeared; it resembled a small doll-like humanoid, with two yellow dots for eyes, and also wearing a military uniform. Alicia could immediately tell it was not a Beckoner that presided over the local girls of Penrose, as it exhuded a different air form the more merciful, plushie-like spirits. It nodded, disappearing once again. Then, more members of the Ascendancy appeared, surrounding the ice rink. One of them was a busty amazoness, wielding an oversized lance as effortlessly as any tool. Another was a smaller girl with a blue-themed outfit, her movements unnaturally graceful as she slid on the ice without moving her legs. The last one was a girl resembling a priestess, with flowing robes that hovered just above the snow behind her. Alicia could tell from their disciplined stances and fiery looks that these were members of the Ascendancy.

The first girl stopped once she reached halfway across the rink.
"Well, if it isn't Sylvia Starshine, having returned at last. Did you really think we wouldn't notice what you've been up to?" As she reached halfway across the rink, she stopped, and put her hands on her hips.
"You are hereby under arrest for the crimes of heresy, collaboration with monsters, witchcraft, neglecting one's duties, and abandonment of one's area of jurisdiction for an extended time."
Sylvia bit her lip, looking panicked. "That's not...Exactly..." But she couldn't find the words to refute her.
The girl slowly shook her head, smiling from ear to ear.
"What a weak excuse. Now, assume your human form. We can do this the easy way...Or the hard way." As she said that, Alicia could hear the eager tone in the Ascendancy officer's voice.

Rachel looked at Hudie, who nodded at her, before she turned back to look at Dawn. "We must be ever vigilant, even with those we may call our sisters of battle. However, you need not concern yourself with such matters. Leena is one of our most skilled and dedicated of soldiers despite her impulsiveness. But, I advise you to keep your distance to her; her specialty does not discriminate from friend or foe."

Once Aurelio walked into the scene, sounds of surprise could be heard as the entire room turned tense, especially the local members who stood in the sidelines; some had shaky feet, some fanned their faces, and one even put her hands to her mouth to avoid unnecessary sounds. However, the members of the Ascendancy did not seem agitated; on the contrary, they only stared at the magical boy with cold glares. Even Rachel, who had a fiery blade drawn right next to her, did not react to the move. Instead, she simply stood up.

"Kyle Tanner," she spoke, and adjusted her glasses, causing them to glint in a menacing fashion.
"Are you aware of the accusations made towards your officer, Sylvia Starshine? She is suspected to have collaborated with monsters and having taken most of the local branch away from Penrose, abandoning her duties."
Hudie also stood up. "Have you come to repent for your sins?" She asked. "Unlike her, you have chosen not to run. As have you." She now addressed Rebecca, who just appeared on the scene.

Rachel lifted an eyebrow. "And this is...?"
"Rebecca Suthers. She was recently purified and recruited by Alicia Hayden as a new member. She underwent the recruitment process just before the disappearance event," Elora spoke up, having clacked away at her keyboard. "Hayden reported that Suthers was infected with corruption during the graveyard incident, and had agreed to join on the condition of conducting purification on her person and locating her missing Twin Soul."
Tsuki put a hand to her chin as she went to look at Elora's laptop screen. "...Wait. She works for the Penrose Independent?"
"Ex-member," Elora immediately answered. "According to Hayden, she was fired from her position as journalist, likely due to the aforementioned reasons." Tsuki squinted at Rebecca. "That sounds a bit suspicious..." She then smirked. "Well, unlike some tabloid that spews out filth and treats its employees like slaves, we welcome the stray sheep who have lost their way into our flock. As long as they have proven themselves devoted to our cause."
She approached Rebecca, and looked her up and down. "Amelie, take Suthers to the training hall. She will take the Test there." At that moment, a magical girl knight stood up from her seat, and gestured for Suthers to follow her. "Now come, lost lamb."

Meanwhile, Rachel turned to Aurelio. "Now, tell me...Where did Sylvia take you for two months? What is she planning? Follow me," she then ordered, leading Aurelio out of the room.

Tsuki returned back to Elora, whose eyes jumped open. "Huh? What is it, Elora?" Elora looked grim.
"See for yourself."
Elora clacked away at lightning speed on her keyboard, and swiped her hand up; it was Vi-chan's video.
The normal Beacon girls gasped at the sight, while the Ascendancy members silently observed it and judged the person in the video.
"Can you trace it?" Tsuki asked. Elora clacked away. "Almost...Just a few more cyphers...There." But then, her eyes widened, and she bit her lip. "It was a decoy, and she cut it." She had a menacing smile. "Clever move, I must admit. I'd need to get the dummy PC to check it's routing records, but she will have enough time to dispose of it."
Tsuki turned red in the face. "Delete the video then! Don't let anyone see this blasphemy!"
Elora shook her head. "I can't; she deleted it herself. Besides, it was already seen by millions online."
"ARGH!" Tsuki hit the screen with her staff, causing it to shatter. The screen fizzled out with crackle of electricity. Elora sighed in response. "You shouldn't do that, you know. You'll spread glass across the table."
She then lifted a hand, and the pieces began to form back into the screen, mending it.

Tsuki meanwhile paced around the room.
"To think that a deviant like her is out there, tarnishing Beacon's very name...We need to snuff them out like rats. Elora, make sure to ban that account, and prevent her from uploading more slander!"
Elora blinked. "I would advise against that. If we were to try to censor her speech, that would cause monsters to unite even more. I suggest we let her continue making new videos, so I may have more chances of tracing her location."
"Elora is right," Hudie nodded. "We also need to find this party, and send in undercover agents there along with an extermination squad."

Cindy greeted Penny with a nod of her head, smiling with confidence upon seeing the robotic girl. "Penrose has entered grim times, Penny. Time has passed while were gone, and the city has suffered much. A force of Beacon known as the Ascendancy has also arrived, bringing doom to us all; they have hunted down my people, killing them in ways most brutal." She sighed, and looked aside at a gathering of DMGs and monster girls who were watching internet videos using a smart phone hooked into a projector. "These people were on the verge of losing hope. But now that we're here, we can make things right again, Penny. We can stop the massacre." She approached Penny, and put a hand to her shoulder; the metallic girl felt a pleasant tingle of electricity, finding it smooth like the caress of silk against her steel.
"Please, help us finish this shelter. Though they have dug deep into the earth, it requires your help to make it safe."
Then, the two heard some cheering as Vi-chan's video began playing. While the monster boys and dark magical boys were most vocal about their attraction to Vi-chan, even a few of the girls seemed to be infatuated with her. "Do you think she's into boys or girls?" They could be heard talking. "Nah, she ain't that kind of girl. She's a pure!" "She's my wife!" "No, mine!"
Cindy's eyebrow frizzled, but she chuckled in the end. "That party does sound very pleasant, and would be a good place for me to rally support for my cause. Penny, would you like to join me in that when it happens?"

Helga was full of energy as she held an internet conference with her laptop, while also talking on the phone. "We're rebranding, Tony! Come see Penrose, the wintery disasterland!" Su could hear her scream out before she noticed her. "Whoops, sorry, gotta go." She put the phone down, and turned towards Su. "Hi Su. What's up?" Upon hearing her suggestion, she turned all smiles. "Oh yeah, the new shop by that girl! I saw the post on Glimmr. Sure, let's go." As they prepared to leave, Helga showed her phone to Su. "Yo Su, check this out; as I made a post on Glimmr advertising the hotel to magical girls, I saw this." it was playing Vi-chan's video. "Su, we gotta get in this party. Not only is it a great place to spread the know about Trove, but we'd also get to meet Vi-chan! Oh man, think about getting to sign a sponsorship deal with a celebrity like her! We'd get so many visitors!"

As Kaito and Mika shared in each other's warmth, they heard a disturbing laugh. Then they saw it; a bulky lich managed to float at respectable speed between the buildings of Penrose, cackling like a madman as it went.
"Huhehee! Now, where was that entrance...Aha! There it was!" He pointed his golden staff at an allwyway, and conjured a black portal from that spot as he flew past it, continuing on his way towards the museum of natural history. "Come to my, warriors from the dead! Walk the world of the living, and reap its souls for me!"

Out of the portal stepped out grey-skinned humans resembling zombies, with completely white eyes and rigid motions. They were dressed in ancient armor, with spears and bows clutched in their long-clawed fingers. These were wights, more powerful undead than a mere zombie. About thirty of them emerged, and as a single swarm began to walk the street, attacking the few humans who happened on their path. This swarm was followed by seven large monsters; they resembled ogres, but had tattered, leathery skin and boils scattered all over. They were draped in fur cloaks, and used tree trunks pulled from the earth with roots and all as walking canes, their tips adorned with bear skulls.

However, the piercing sound of a gun could be heard in the air, and one of the ogres fell down, dissolving into earthly matter. The two then saw what looked like a magical girl down in the streets, rushing towards the monsters and hacking into the wights. But, she did not hold any gun, but a bladed staff...

Some fair distance away, Katarina spotted a magical girl with a rifle.
She was aiming down from atop a water tower, guided by another magical girl working as a spotter. Then, they saw a third girl running away. If one were to see both scenes at once, they would realize that these three girls other than the sniper were triplets.

‘First customers!’

The bell jingled at Brittany's shop, and Alex stepped into the shop, followed shortly by Su and Helga. Brittany, already excitedly waiting behind the counter, lifted her arms up in a big cheer. ‘Welcome! Would you be interested in our selection of Weapons? Or perhaps you'd like to put on a new, warm Outfit for the winter season? Please, have a look around, and see if you'll find something you like!‘
