I didn't think about individual suites...hmm...
At first, it was one large shared room, but now I'm thinking I like small suites better...more private but still some shared space...less awkward for the nerds in Machina...yeah, I'm going with individual rooms that are grouped in fours with a shared common area. (I'm literally going through design ideas in my head as I write this)

On that mention of dorms, are they more suite style where everyone gets their own small room and small commons or one room with two bunk beds or so?

I don't know...kind of a toss-up for me. If your instinct is saying no, then you should probably listen. I mean, I know I'm the GM and can just flat out reject the idea, but I'm not that kind of GM usually.

It's not just you...I've been keeping an eye on the cast list and noticed the gender 'imbalance' within the houses...but like you said, it's not a problem whatsoever. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
One thing I'm glad (and surprised) is rather balanced are the levels/tiers. Not everyone is playing at top level and that makes things more dynamic.

I'm gonna try to get this thing started this weekend, so prepare yourselves. ^_^
Regarding the dorm rooms...yes, the dorms are separated by gender (25 girl's rooms, 25 boy's rooms). Also, each room has four people, so even if you don't room with someone's character, you will still have NPC roommates to fill the spaces.
