Managed to burn both my thumbs and index fingers pulling a tray of cookies out of the oven. I trusted you, oven mitts, and you betrayed me.

RP’s that amass a good player base and have a good start only to suddenly die are why I have trust issues.

Wolf

Though he didn’t believe them himself, Wolf found the remarks from Alexi reassuring. Still, he had to be truthful in his reply. “I thank you for your words, but you are mistaken. I am not the best. I may have the qualities of a perfect blade, but not the skill nor experience to wield them. Even if it were possible to mass produce my kind, the queen would be better off using the resources to bolster her army ten fold rather than waste it on a few more like me.” Pushing himself up, Wolf turned from the others looking out on the frozen warzone around them. “As of now I am simply a man trying to prove he can fight among gods.”

As he stared out over the dead again contemplating his place in this world, his mind was able to let go of the subject when Bonesword brought up Alexi’s fighting ability. “He has a point, mage.” Wolf said looking back over his shoulder. “For all your talk of blades, I have yet to see yours in action. Perhaps it’s time we change that.”

Wolf

Alexi’s lapse in memory about Wolf came as a shock to the Inquisitor. While he never considered to be the brightest of the Machina, he had assumed she could at least remember the names of her ally’s. How did she ever learn to cast magic with such a terrible memory anyway? Her friends in the sword must do a lot more than cloud her mind. “It’s Wolf.” He said not standing on ceremony and giving his full title. “I’m a bit surprised you don’t remember me, considering I’ve saved you from a bar fight and an elevator not too long ago.”

Curious about who Wolf knew, Alexi asked if he could remember any of the other Machina. With nothing better to do, he decided to humor the girl. “Well there’s the twins, Krieg, and an annoying pile of bones that keeps showing up near me.” Sensing his auro approach, Wolf waited until Bonesword was in earshot before saying the last part. The skeleton then began to lecture them on the dangers of talking about souls, a notion the Inquisitor had to scoff at.

“Please don't tell me you’re superstitious? Of all the things in the Nexus I believe bad karma is the last thing we should worry about.” Wolf stated plainly to Bonesword. ”But if it will put you at ease, I’m sure there is a rabbit demon whose leg we could take.”

Reluctantly following Diana to his squadmate, Zarin knew immediately what was about to happen when they entered to see Chen holding a bouquet of flowers. “Oh for the love of…” Zarin muttered rolling his eyes while Chen put on his ‘charming’ display. “Don’t be too flattered.” He said as the confetti settled to the ground, “He does this with every dame we run into.”

With the end of that spectacle, Diana offered the party some snacks while she explained why the wildlife had been acting up. Normally Zarin would have declined, but seeing as he had to escape a prison and fight a giant monster all without breakfast, he was happy to have anything that even resembled food. Walking over he grabbed one of the roasted fish from the basket and took a large bite right off the top. Before he could take a second one, however, Diana said something that made him drop the fish and forget about his hunger altogether. Something he had waited nearly his whole life to hear.

”The truth is that... I'm a dragon... Funny, ehehehe?"

"What? You can't be serious, Dragons are nothing but legends."

“Hold on there, princess.” Zarin butted in with a new found interest on the subject at hand. “It may sound crazy to you, but there are some people who like to believe in such legends.” He stated holding up his arm so his dragon tattoo was clearly visible. “But as for her being one, there’s only one way to prove it.” He said turning to Diana, as well as grabbing Chen’s head to push him over while he was still on one knee. “Show us. Change into your true form.”
And just like that, Zarin's new goal is to get Diana to change into her true form so he can see a real dragon and fan girl over it. (maybe even ride her. We'll see.)

Wolf

The Inquisitor didn't stay in Hyperion long after he had respawned. He didn't even report to Eos in person. Instead he made a beeline to the nearest shuttle and flew to the farthest point he could; the frozen Northern border.

Trudging through the bloody snow, Wolf looked upon the war torn landscape and wondered, perhaps this is where he should have been. Not fighting among the Nexuses greatest, but with the grunts and fodder who use their lives to hold meaningless borders. After all, isn’t that all his efforts amounted too last battle?

In truth, Wolf was beginning to question his worth as a soldier in general. Here he was the product of hundreds of years of research and technology, a supposed perfect combination of man and machine, and yet after two missions he had accomplished nothing. He didn't even have a kill to his name. Maybe The Inquisition was wrong to think he was ready for this. Maybe he shouldn't have even… Wait what the hell? Was that Alexi?

Wolf's train of thought was suddenly halted when he picked up the essence of the Knight of Winter. Curious as to why she was out here, he followed her essence to find the mage playing some sort of schoolyard game and talking to the remains of the fallen.

“What in the name of Eos are you doing out here?” Wolf shouted as he approached the young Knight. “This is one of the most active war zones in the Nexus! This is no place for...Oh forget it. Like I'm in any position to judge your skill.”

Dropping his stoic posture Wolf slouched forward before taking a seat on what used to be the arm of a mech. “So what are you doing out here?” He asked with genuine curiosity. “There are plenty of souls in Hyperion to talk to. I'm sure you'd much prefer them to those departed.”

Wolf

Wolf’s aggressive first strike proved to be in vain as his blade fell just short of it's mark and missed the rose dragon entirely. Leaving himself wide open, the dragon launched it's counter, sending powerful gusts of wind accompanied by waves of thorns. The Inquisitor could do nothing but trust in his power armor to protect against the thorns as he was relentlessly pelted.

While his trust was not misplaced, the damage from the thorns left his armor in ruin. One more attack like that and it would all be over. And just as he realized the danger he was in, Wolf caught a glimpse of magic activate below him. Though he attempted to dispel the lance, the force of the wind pressed him down too fast. The sound of the lance piercing through metal and flesh could be heard by all nearby as Wolf was impaled.

The Inquisitor lay still on the lance, blood dripping from every point of his broken armor. It looked as though he had met his end, when suddenly he sprung to life. Grabbing the tip of the gore covered lance, Wolf painfully pulled himself up until he was able to slip off. Slowly his rage filled eyes turned their gaze upon Atarah.

Advancing on the harpy, Wolf moved as though he hadn't just been skewered through the chest. But after taking a few steps toward Atarah, the Machina’s pace slowed, and soon his walk became staggered before dropping to his knees. Unable to stand again, Wolf slowly raised his arm cannon at the demon, only to finally topple over and succumb to death.

Balrog

Pushing forward, Balrog continued to fire upon Harvester with little resistance. It seemed as though the robot had just given up, letting every hit land as he stood there watching the colossal demon approach. It was a bit disappointing to say the least, but if this was the fate it chose, then so be it.

Just as he had planned, the moment he was in range Balrog thrust his claw straight into Harvester’s chest. Sparks flew around the gaping hole of metal as Balrog pushed further in. “Balrog heard you was smart.” The demon cackled as he ripped his claw out of Harvester, “Guess Balrog heard wrong.” Aiming his plasma cannon at the defeated Machina’s head, Balrog was about to fire when suddenly vanished.

Realizing it had no chance of winning this fight alone, Harvester had looked for a way to take Balrog down with him rather than best him. With all its processors focusing on Balrog, it was able to warp him into the star it originally took the solar mass from. Knowing it had effectively vaporized its enemy, The HR-513 shut down as it not longer could function after sustaining such damage.

With Leblanc on it’s back and Clean pinning it’s foot, Zarin focused on keeping the beast from healing. Every wound that looked as though it was about to regenerate was torn open again by his whip. Combined with the barrage of bullets and grenades, it was only a matter of time before the beast was finally defeated. In all honesty, the fight had gone over a lot easier than he had anticipated. It was kind of disappointing actually, though how was he supposed to know there were reinforcements right around the corner ready to jump in?

Zarin watched as the once intimidating monster melted into a dark bloody pool of nothing, and in it’s place left what appeared to be a piece of paper. ”Well that’s strange.” Zarin muttered as he walked closer to inspect the paper. It seemed to be a sheet of music, something the cadet was actually able to read, but it was no song he had ever heard before. Wanting a closer look, he reached down to pick the music sheet up, only to have it burst into purple flame just before he could grab it.

He would probably need to report that to someone, but that would have to wait. The moment he pulled away from the ashes, a number of the cadets went on alert after hearing something moving close by. Zarin followed suit unfurling his whip and angling it back ready to strike. When the source revealed itself to be a non-hostile girl around their age, Zarin once more lowered his guard and began coiling his whip while she talked.

Though he chose to remain silent for most of the questions, as he wasn’t sure what information he could trust to give this girl, her last statement about finding one of their squadmates forced a loud sigh out of him. “That would be Chen.” Zarin said shaking his head. “He was with us before we got captured. Of course the freaken magician found a way to escape. I guess we should go get him, if you wouldn’t mind taking us to your place?”
