Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

Do you want your posts to be limited by discords relatively short message parameters?

Do you want your RP to be "free" level?

Do you want to personally host a discord channel and monitor the posts as they come in?

Do you want to give up the clean formatting and BBC code that the forum affords?

Do you want the mod team to be powerless to punish something that happened outside their jurisdiction?*

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, you probably shouldn't host a discord RP. From what I've seen, most discord RPs tend to be very "impulse" post driven, which isn't my cup of tea. But if that's your sort of thing, I don't see why you shouldn't.

*You can remove people from your own server, but they will have gotten away free, as they can still hang out in the RPG discord or the forum.

Just a thread where we can share and discuss videos that might be beneficial to one's writing or roleplaying. Be sure to keep your videos in hiders if you're posting more than one. I heard the guild does funny stuff if you don't.

To start off, I'd like to share something that a lot of original fantasy GMs will likely find interesting.

The video is part of a three-part series on magic systems. I found it very interesting, and think anyone who's thinking about building their own world should give the entire series a watch.

Literature Devil's channel is entirely dedicated to how SJWs need to be stopped because they are ruining our media. But some of that relates to writing characters. In this video, he puts emphasis on how flaws are necessary for characters to become human and relocatable. He only has about five videos on his channel, but I found all of them fascinating. Not all relate to characters however.
I'm unsure what you are hero, but when I look at you... I feel happy.
So very Briza
I don't have a lot of stuff to add that pugbutter didn't already cover in the gif thread. My biggest problem was that there was that there was too much freedom. You had joke characters and serious characters, anime characters and semi-realism characters, strong characters and weak characters, all scattered across three different planets. The fact that the new PW is based on star wars will clear up most of these problems. Just because everyone knows what star wars is doesn't mean everyone has the same ideas about it. In the movies, the force is a clearly defines thing that has powerful, though limited uses. Though in videogames it seems like the force has a great number more abilities. What the force can and can't do still needs to be defines, even in a pre-established setting like star wars. Another problem was that there was very little lore to go on in EW. Something about multiverses and shit. Hopefully there will be enough going on that people who don't live and breathe star wars will be able to get a handle on what's going on. Not everyone has seen all the movies/read all the books/played all the games.

But to summarize, too much player freedom and a lack of anything to clearly define the world had me quickly retreating to the group RP part of the forum.
The current interest check is much easier to navigate than the current OOC. Hopefully you'll dress that up a bit too eventually.

I'll be honest, I'm not really big on playing in "multiverse" RPs. They come across as lazy and invite a lot of problems you avoid in single world RPs. As such there's little advice I can offer. But between moving to the casual section, putting up an interest check, and properly formatting it, you should see an increase in foot traffic. Also do what Odin says. Looking at other interest checks/OOC is a great way to get ideas for your own.

Creating an interest check is a must if you want to get a lot of people quickly and are relatively unknown on the guild. If you're not doing that, you're dooming your RP to get buried and forgotten by everything else. I see you have since made an interest check, and it's a good start.

Sadly, the formatting is horrible.

What you want to do with an interest check is grab any passerby's attention and reel them in before they get away. Having a custom header is good, and starting with a line or two from the RPs mascot is always a fun addition. Unfortunately you then decide to include the rules, and it's not really clear if it's rules for OOC or IC. That is to say if Liseran is talking to our characters, or if you are talking to us. We then have a few arbitrary areas fleshed out, as well as the staff for this arena thing, and everything important related to the setting is hidden at the bottom. This is a confusing mess to navgate, and the information isn't in the order most will want to read it in. It doesn't help that the biggest clue as to what the setting is are two links to two very long posts.

What I recommend is first to familiarize yourself with the guild's code. If I wanted to link you to my RP, Clickable text is a much more elegant solution than putting the ugly link in a hider. code for that is as follows:

Clickable text here

From there, I would make your interest check and OOC read like this:

Something to grab the readers attention, like the mascot monologing
Description of the Setting, careful to include the player's roll in all this
Finer details about the setting, like types of technology, gizmoes, powers, etc.
Special role play mechanics (if applicable)
Anything that doesn't fit in the other sections
Rules
Character sheet

And don't be shy about using images. Humans are visual creatures, and pretty headers and images often give one the strength to read a paragraph or two more than they normally would.

Clinic, The Golden Quarter, Priestella

Alistair was rather quiet during their introduction to the clinic, instead taking in his surroundings and looking closely for any signs of potential threats. Unfortunately, with his limited knowledge of what could and could not be done with magic or the rules of this particular world, it was difficult to really figure out what could be considered a threat. Aside from the woman in the clinic and the candles that had likely caused their prior death, he did not spot anything out of the norm.

“I see.” Alistair nodded after Donovan inspected his magics.
“Thank you.”

The young, arrogant man held little else but respect for the good doctor, and did not in the least seem uncomfortable with his actions. One could even say, despite the short while he’d known the man, that he was absolutely trusting of the doctor.
“I’ll do my best to be of use to this clinic while I'm here.”

That said, he wasn’t particular keen on dealing with this woman with white hair. This Quill chick’s glare wasn’t going unnoticed by Alistair. In fact, the Archibald was returning an equally vicious one. He could not be certain that she was one of the individuals who was hunting them, but odds were stacked against her. And people who dared stand in his way deserved little respect, particularly if they were going to be so rude to him, it didn’t matter what her reasons were.

But he remained silent. At least while he was working on her’ wound’. He raised his hands to the puncture spot and concentrated deeply on it. With both Donovan’s and Quill’s advice in mind, it did not take long for the wound to begin repairing itself. And while it was not a great feat by any means, it was the first step towards becoming a master of the element that he was gifted. He might’ve smirked in satisfaction if it weren’t for the matter at hand.

Alistair took a step away from Donovan’s ‘assistant’ and looked her over. She didn’t look particularly threatening, at least in build, but given the small stature of one of the assassins, that may have actually been intentional.
“I do understand,”
he began, his features matching hers in intensity, but his tone rather casual.

“That I am a rather attractive individual. I don’t mind staring. I’m certainly used to it. But could you stop? You’re going to give someone the wrong idea, you know? You shouldn’t look at people like that unless you wish them harm.”

Quill looked Alistair up and down. “If you're ready for something more difficult, I could try inflicting a larger wound on you.”

”Be nice Quill.” Donovan sighed. ”She's had a rough time of it. Just give her a break.”

Quill did not take her eyes off of Alistair. “It's not like I was being serious. I don't know why anyone would waste their time on this man.”

The giant folded his arms. ”Am I missin' somethin' here?”

"I merely wished to avoid misunderstandings, my good doctor." Alistair shrugged. "I regret to say I do not particularly care for such nasty looks coming from someone whom I haven't met before, and being the rather active person I am, I'd much rather address the situation than pretend it does not exist."

He eyed the girl.

"Though I'd be glad to see if this water magic can heal that perpetual scowl of yours, instead."

Quill shrugged her shoulders. “He seems to have the basics under control.” She reached for a cloak that was hanging on the wall. “If you don't have any patients to deal with, I think I'll leave early.”

”The two of you...” Donovan waved his hand. ”You gonna learn to play nice together. But maybe some fresh air would be good for ya.” Donovan turned to look at Chieko's candle. ”Ahh! A fine job there, girl.” he nodded. ”I ain't got many more candles left that are safe to practice with. They're all incense designed to help patients sleep.” He chuckled. ”Ya can keep practicing with that one though. Just put it out and try again.” Aki's demonstration of air magic didn't go unnoticed by Donovan. ”Bein' able to deliver air into someone's lungs is a valuable tool. That's probably the only known cure for incense poisoning. Though I hope ya don't mind, I'd rather not practice that.” the giant chuckled.

Meanwhile, Quill was headed outside, and wasn't stopping for anyone. She was dawning her cloak before she even reached the door. She hadn't gotten outside yet, so there was still time to approach her, if one wished it.

just outside Hero's district, Priestella

The foreigners made no sudden movements, aside from Hiro letting Aer know that something was up. It was impossible for any of them to see what Aer was doing, as she was wearing a big ass hood. Though for some reason, Aer looked at the row of buildings to the group's right, directly opposite of the little stabby loli. She then raised her arm and created a large barrier moments before the sky rained weapons. Spears, hammers, and axes bounced off the barrier while the ones behind it were left relatively safe. But the barrier wasn't large enough to cover everyone, and a certain tea sipping foreigner was a little to preoccupied to move to safety.

Sorry yuuki.

DEATH COUNT : 25

It ended as soon as it started. The ground was littered with weapons, and one dead body. What few people were present in the area fled. "This wasn't a good spot to ambush us. We're not too far away from the here's district." Chiyo stepped into the middle of the street. There had to be someone else helping her, but they were out of sight. It was clear that a fight was going to start very soon, and the foreigners had to decide what they were going to do, and fast.
The problem is not the genre, it's that your interest check is so low effort and bland that it's almost impossible to write a meaningful reply without being larger than the topic starter. You might have better luck in free where player expectations are a lot lower, but people in casual or advanced will want to be sold the idea. Here's an example of what an interest check should look like.
