When the rats had brought over a piece of bread, Kleine accepted it without much hesitation.

"Oh! Why thank you!" She said to the rats. Though the more she looked at it, the less and less she wanted to touch it. After pondering for a brief moment, she hatched a plan. By instinct, she mimicked washing the bread in a water-filled basin. Of course, it was simply an illusion. She didn't have any sort of water source yet. But what she pulled out of the basin was another illusion--one of a clean bread. She "ate" her illusion and handed her portion--in the same condition she received it--back to the rats as a "thank you".

Then came the question of the hour from Sal.

"Ah, well..." Kleine paused to think about her words, her fingers nervously tapping together. "That was the previous dungeon master."

She paused.

"Oh, don't worry about desecration or anything like that. Anything that was them had been burnt away long ago. Right now, it's just a pile of bones."

It wasn't easy to carve out the halls of their dungeon. In fact, in their few days of labour--though, it was difficult to determine any sort of marker of time within the dungeon--it felt like they had carved out about a third of their plan. It was as though the dungeon fought back against being carved out in such a way. Every so often, when enough people would look away, walls seemed to reform in an instant. Likewise, filling in parts of the dungeon--with stone, dirt, and gravel from their digging--often resulted in the piles simply vanishing when nobody looked. Rarely, the piles of loose stone, dirt, and dust would simply be replaced by a slat of cavernous stone as if it had always been there.

The dungeon was a gaslighting mistress, apparently. And a difficult one, judging by their struggles.

First, the cabal of dungeon masters had realized something rather important: they couldn't quite move the entrance or exit. The crystal simply refused to move, while the entrance refused to be filled and, no matter where they dug--even right beside the initial entrance--a new entrance wasn't created--it was simply more rock which made little sense.

Second, the Oracle's attempts to create an octagonal shrine were... tentative, to put it lightly. Every time it attempted to fill in the dungeon room, the stone simply vanished. It was expected to some degree, but one would expect after the dozens of times it filled in the corners that there would be at least one wall created. But as if penance for rolling quite well, its attempts to terraform were shot down.

Nonetheless, they had a slightly better looking dungeon. Incomplete and still needing traps and the like, but it at least had enough space where they could have their own private areas.

Exploration outside of the dungeon had been... not quite fruitful. It was simply wilderness out there, no matter how far most of them went.

Though on the last exploration survey by the rats, they had been instinctually drawn to a mysterious smell. Moving through the wilderness, they had stumbled on something rather important: an outpost of humans. It seemed newly formed as the only structures were some tents staked into the ground. Of course, they did find what that mysterious smell was: some dried meat jerky covered in spice. They managed to snag a few pieces before being chased away by a large human woman with a broom. Thankfully, they managed to adeptly dodge the broom--but they knew if that broom had hit them, they would have not been able to return home.

Muste's testing of the polymorphic amulet was. It seemed beyond his knowledge, at least for now. He couldn't figure out a reason on how or why it worked. The most he could gather about it--and some cursory studying of the other magical objects they pulled--was that "they simply did" as if the rules of the world had a bespoke section carved out specifically so that these items can function.

The Oracle felt its body twist, contort, and compress. It wasn't painful--more unfamiliar and uncomfortable, as if something was wrong. This wasn't the body it knew it had. Unceremoniously, the Oracle fell to the ground with a solid clunk. Its body felt more solid. Quite solid, in fact. One could easily describe it as chitinous, but the Oracle was unable to view itself to confirm--the dungeon lacked any sort of reflective surface.

To the others, the new form that The Oracle took was obvious. It would appear that their grand floating corpse in mesoglea had been turned into a rather large--about goblin-sized--beetle with shining black-brown chitin, six needle-like legs, and a large forked horn that had the necklace around it.

Really, it was lucky that it had the horn. Otherwise, it might have been a dung beetle. But unluckily--it seemed rather difficult for the Oracle to remove the necklace by itself. Its horns was longer than its limbs, after all.

"Well, in any case, we likely have a few days before the hero comes back and tells others. When that happens, we'll have an unending stream of adventurers trying to shatter this crystal." Klein stated. Though, a worrisome look crossed her face. "But we might not be able to finish digging out a full floor plan in time. But--if we're lucky--no veterans are going to appear! We'll probably only have to deal with the freshest of the newbies!"

Of course, Klein wasn't about to shirk work. No, her instincts refused that. With a hardhat--who knew where she got it--and a pickaxe as large as her, she began to help clear out the dungeon alongside the rest of the effective labourers.

Plan your dungeon out carefully! It's a lot harder to fill things in rather than clear them out!
The world outside of the dungeon was simple. As he crossed out of the mouth of the cave, he felt something strange and unnatural--though it wasn't like the dungeon was truly natural. It felt like he had crossed a threshold--as if he had walked through thin wall of haze. But more important than that--it felt as though he was weakened--as if wading in a dream.

There was not some grand city, outpost, or even languishing village. Instead, it was simply unkempt nature basking in the midday sun. In fact, it was curious on how a boy would even find this place. Judging by snapped branches of the nearby brush, he simply walked directly towards it.

Of course, nature meant animals. And animals meant birds. And birds meant mindblasting for brains and feathers. His blast of intellect and mind had struck a bird on a nearby branch and... simply stunned it for the time being. And he had to work a surprising amount to access its brains. Nonetheless--he now had a feather and questionable grass papyrus. Though, he could also always just use the leather if he ever needed a higher quality parchment.

"Well... when a monster given an authority passes, the rights follows any established line of succession. If there is none, it returns back to the dungeon owner. Which would mean it would be split equally to all of you." Klein paused as she placed her finger against her temple and closed her eyes in pensive thought."But it's strange. It doesn't seem like his authority has changed."

Of course, her thoughts were immediately interrupted by a dead man yelling "Ey, boss!"

"Kyaieeee!" Exclaimed Kleine as she leapt into the air.

"That's... new to me! Glad you're back! I... Well, no sense thinking too hard about it." She said as she huffed.

Then came the right of the victors--the ability to summon was brought up by Schnupfen.

With the Oracle's wish came the hums of the crystal one more. From nothing sprung forth items they could use. More materials, of which they would have to manually turn into something else. Two more monsters sprung from the chaos--one, a short snake-like creature who seemed to have no combat ability and the other a autumnal treant in the figure of a tall and lanky human. Unlike before, equipment to use was spawned. A set of potions of varying effects. A wooden wagon. More crystallized concepts spawned--simple arrow traps, a pitfall, a crystal that would allow the immediate creation of a room, a set of proper lighting, and some totems.

The crystal hummed and thrummed with energy. It let out two bright pulses of red light. With one came a strange amulet. With the other came a treasure chest--empty, yet seemingly so full of potential. But the crystal seemed to coalesce and the room darken. A purple light came and pulsed across the room. A simple bell dropped to the floor. But again it pulsed purple. A stone statue of an angel holding its own head in its lap now stood in front of the crystal.

But more important than any of that was a simple item: a cozy looking bed that seemed warm and comfortable. A bed that could only hold one person.

Or about seven people, if you counted rats.

Or zero, if you counted Schnupfel (who could only use the bed in principle) or the Oracle (who simply wouldn't fit).

NEVER STOP GAMBLING! YOU WILL SUCCEED.
The boy was defeated through the the monsters' quick thinking. Through the brave actions of all of the monsters who now claimed this dungeon, their new home was protected from the most dire of foes--a unmonitored child. With the boy's defeat came a warmth from the crystal. Power welled inside as his soul returned to the church. The boy's duties were not done--but it would be some time before her returned.

Received 10 DP.

It was subtle. Exceedingly so. But Muste could feel it. In eating what little remained of the young hero's mind--though, there wasn't much there to begin with--Muste felt a flicker of something. It was no more than a whisper, but he felt the crystal resonate with him as he had eaten brain.

The crystal welled with power. Cracks began to form on its surface as a ceaseless energy expanded from within. From these cracks, a single shard erupted. Then, as easily as it cracked, the crystal reformed into a new shape.

Well, it was the same old crystal. It just had a small growth coming out of it. But with it came a new understanding of the dungeon they now called home.

UNLOCKED: DUNGEON ALTERATION
The tools to expand the dungeon are now afforded to you. Unfortunately for you, this primarily takes the form of pickaxes and other such items.

A warmth filled the dungeon. The monsters felt as though they became more. No longer did they feel as though the child could defeat them. Now, they could each fight the child on their own terms! Though, if someone stronger came along, it would probably be the same story. Nonetheless, they felt a difference

And thankfully for Salbjörg, this included her vitality. Her rib, while still busted, no longer felt completely awful. It was as though it had naturally healed about halfway.

Of course, it was no time for rest and relaxation. They needed to protect the dungeon from future incursions. And to do so would mean that Salbjörg would have to be removed from the glue trap.

Kleine appeared from her hiding place. Apparently, it wasn't quite a good hiding spot. She had, in fact, been clinging to the opposite end of the crystal. She had a morose look on her face.

"Zogi was... a brave soul." She said with a definite sadness. "He fought for this dungeon... as best as he could... and bought us all the time we needed. And he will be remembered."

Of course, her eulogy was undercut by the fact that she seemed to be carrying a 6ft long spatula.

With a pensive look on her face, she approached the glue trap and, with a quick gesture, disabled it for the time being. Though, Salbjörg continued to be stuck as the glue remained. With a certain sadness, Kleine shoved the spatula underneath the Shahmaran--and and by extension, Zoppy--in an effort to free them.

Kleine could only hang onto the handle with a saddened look as the handle extended above her height.

The Kobold warrior, with an equally pensive look on its face, came to Kleine's aid and helped pry Salbjörg free.

Kleine quickly went to hide as the masters of the dungeon both foolishly and bravely went to fight. Though, she still watched with baited breath as she waited for any order.

The crystal creaked as energy coalesced. Waves of red light pulsed from the crystal. The first was weak. The second radiated with an ounce more strength. The third came stronger, yet did not seem nearly as strong as the light could be.

From the ether came small parcels of goods that were suddenly wrested from their origin and flung into the world. A bundle of herbs. A collected of wrought metals in ingot form. A stone. A small roll of good quality leather from an unknown beast. A large bone. A shining blue gem that radiated a magical cold. Then, a large lizard--only a few inches taller than the hero--spawned. With spear in hand and protected by bones and leathers, it gave a gargling cry of valor. Finally, two crystalline shards fell to the floor. Both were an inert yellow, but one had a faint glow.

It wasn't the best result. In fact, for the Oracle who had rolled the Basic Summoning, it could be considered as quite a disappointing result. Despite this, they now had some tools to fight back against the now unarmed hero.

Remember to call your governmental representative to force the publishing of gacha rates!
Alright. With that and Vert's 2 week vacay, it's time for... combat and gacha pulling!?

To pull on the gacha, you need at least a majority (4/7). And remember, everyone currently receives equal claim to whatever is pulled (unless everyone else relinquishes).

Of course, you can set it up later so that you each get 1/7 of the dungeon points and whatever is pulled is exclusively yours... But that's your decision! It is a union, after all.

As for combat: it's more free form with a couple of ground rules. Generally, follow these basics and write whatever you want. You can control the hero. Just imagine them as the hero boy who just left the village. Also remember, he's not afraid of death. Death for heroes is more of an inconvenience than something with consequences.

1) No matter how visually impressive you or your attacks might be, the Lv. 1 Hero is generally unaffected by them. It's as though you're shooting him with nerf darts, slashing at him with plastic knives, or punching him with pillows on your fists. He's still affected and can be wounded, but it's very much an uphill battle.

2) The hero will be cautious and afraid upon first seeing any of you. After receiving any attack, he'll become more audacious after realizing the difference in power.

3) The hero will more or less be defeated after everyone gets a hit in.

4) The hero is currently in the hall traversing to the core. There is enough time to set up a dungeon based trap, if you dare to pull on that gacha.

Because it might actually need a little more communication to get a consensus, here's a discord. discord.gg/2EbHHhYnzU
The small beast rubbed her chin as the suggestions for names came in.

"Hm. Dungeon Owner doesn't quite make sense. Stakeholder or Client are decent." She noted of the illithid's suggestions. She didn't seem too displeased over being called such things.

"Bóthildur, huh? I like it. Though, I'd probably end up forgetting the decoratic a little too often." She seemed a bit pleased over it, though her meandering face seemed as though she would more often go by some shortened form of it to avoid the "decoratic", as she put it.

"Waschbär? Hm..." She seemed a little displeased about being called a bandit, but she quickly shook off her displeasure and moved on to the next suggestion. "Kleine.... Not quite sure what that means, but I like that one."

Of course, the dungeon spirit was caught off balance when Zoppy had collided into her in her first impression. It would appear that fur comprised a surprising amount of her mass considering how quickly she was knocked over. A loud "gwuh!" escaped from the dungeon spirit as they made some strange stone-beast-goblin sandwich.

Just as quickly as she was knocked over, she was righted with the force of 1 GP (goblinpower) and could only let a quiet "huh" escape.

The more sycophantic goblin's seemed to have a survival instinct that was both immense and completely inaccurate.

"I'm not quite your employer or boss and I'm not really upset at it. Accidents happen." she said as she gave an airheaded smile and scratched the back of her head. "I suppose it's more accurate to call me a secretary. The closest thing you have to a big-boss are The Rules."

Finally, it was the odd one's turn. The dungeon spirit could only crook her head as the rain of dice flew towards the small goblin, only for it to be revealed that fate was a cheap and not-unpleasant mistress. Then came the Oracle's name suggestion, chosen by providence.

With a few shakes and a nod of her head, the dungeon spirit had acquired something that was not given to her.

"Hm. Well, I suppose that a proper majority won't be required for this, especially since we're so short on time--we can't quite afford to have run-offs just yet."

With a curtsy, the dungeon spirit reintroduced herself.

"I am Kleine the Illusion. Pleased to meet you and I hope we get along."

With those words, a spark washed over the seven or so newcomers. Though they may have recognized it earlier, a clarified understanding flowed into their minds and with it--the power bestowed to each of them from birth was revealed.

RECOGNIZED: 1/7th Shard of Authority
A mere fragment of the right to rule over the dungeon that has not yet earned the right to a name. This shard gives you equal claim over all undeclared rights and possessions within the dungeon.

Alongside this understanding came a hum from the crystal. It became brighter--if so ever slightly.

UNLOCKED: GACHA
It feels as though you could summon anything as limitless potential is now afforded to you.

A wave of electricity seemed to move from the tip of Kleine's toes to the top of her head. Her fur stood up as her eyes were drawn to the core room's entryway.

"It appears that we've been discovered," she said as a worried look washed over her face. Lifting her hands, a screen of magic formed to reveal a moving image. It was difficult to see, but there was a figure that traversed a dark stone hall. With some strenuous focusing from Kleine, features of the figure began to be identifiable. It was a human boy with a sword in hand.

"I wonder what that 'gwuh' noise was." The boy's voice came through the screen. Though it was covered in fur, the colour seemed to drain from Kleine's face as she refused to make eye contact.

Current Goal:
Defend your dungeon

New Understanding:
Kleine: 4* Dungeon Spirit
Traits:
Illusionist: Allows the creation of two illusions.
Monitoring: Allows the remote viewing of any portion of the dungeon.
Dungeon Spirit: Allows for interactions with the dungeon core.

New Foes:
Lv. 1 Hero
A boy with sword in hand. He doesn't seem powerful in the slightest.
