Alisa made the decision to tag along with Aleen’a. “I’ll come with!” She followed closely behind her. After their conversation earlier in the lab, she worried for her friend, and especially worried about her ability to keep their mission under wraps. Aleen’a was normally a little spacey, but right now she was extra spacey. Plus, it never hurt to stick with a friend in a strange place. Which the center definitely was. As much as Alisa hated to admit it, being around so many strangers made her nervous, especially when she was pretending to be a partially human girl. Last she checked, metahumans didn’t come in the robot variety. So she had to blink. And remembering to blink was hard.

As soon as Alisa had finished and attached her new hand- which still felt a bit strange- she had rushed off to her room to get ready. Her first instinct had been to go for pastels and chunky earrings and skirts, but then she realized that she was trying to not be noticed and had gone with a black hoodie and jeans instead. She had worn her clip-on strawberry earrings, though. They were too awesome to not wear!

On their way to the cafeteria, Alisa spotted something through a window and had to stop. Was that… an art studio? She unattached from Aleen’a’s side and moved to peer through the glass. It was! They had easels, and the good markers, and was that a pottery kiln? She probably wouldn’t have any time to paint while she was here, but it couldn’t hurt to go inside, could it? She jiggled the door handle. It was locked. A frown crossed her face. Damn. She would come back later. But she had lost Aleen’a! Shit! She rushed down the hall to the cafeteria, where she was met with Aleen’a having a conversation.

Alisa went back to standing at Aleen’a’s elbow, entering at the start of their conversation. At Camila’s comment on height, Alisa was met with a twinge of annoyance. She forgot how tiny standing next to Aleen’a made her look. Not that Cecile had called her short, but still. Annoying.

“Hi! You weren’t talking to me, but I’m Ally. Me and her are friends, we just got here. She is very tall! It’s nice to meet you.” Alisa shook Cecile’s hand way too tightly. Damnit. Alisa cringed in embarrassment. She had fucked up the calibration on the new hand. Something to fix later.

It's short and not my best work, but here it is.
I’m out of town this weekend so I won’t be able to get anything up until next week.
@Mintz

Fun fact, her alias is V. As in, CTRL V.
Holy shit, this exploded in the last couple hours I’ve been working. I’ll be making a perky 13-year-old with sort of… copy paste powers, I want to say? She can recreate any item she sees and handles, but her power can run out. The amount of energy each creation takes depends on specificity, necessity, and complexity. Each item disappears within one hour and she can disappear it at will.
She does. It’s my personal nightmare.

I’ll start a character sheet soon.
Not sure if I’ll have the time, but I love Worm so count me in.

Daphne. Alisa felt her spirit drop to her feet as Martian Manhunter revealed what had become of her friend. What happened? What did her dad do to make her… like this? She could barely bring herself to look at Daphne, entombed in greenery. This next mission would be hard without her. So hard. Her infinite gentleness couldn’t be matched by anyone else on the team. Even with the return of Casper, the team would still be missing something important without her.

Alisa gazed at the ghostly boy for a moment before looking away and furrowing her brow. His return had shocked her- she had thought him dead for sure- yet beyond a few cursory words and an enthusiastic ‘welcome back!’ they hadn’t talked. She doubted that would change too much. The thought of not being friends with one of her new teammates didn’t torture her as much as it had a month ago, now that she had found friends. Not that her friends had been very forthcoming as of late. Viktor had ignored her for most of the past weeks before a heartfelt conversation between them that had led to their friendship being stronger than ever, and Aleen’a was almost completely absent. And everyone else was the same as them. Ja had seemed to bounce back, while Kassy had sequestered herself in her bedroom after the awful way the Atlantis mission had ended. Alisa didn’t blame her. She wasn’t a monster, but having something that personal exposed hurt. Zach was hurt but still as sassy as ever, and Daphne was… well.

In a way, Alisa felt she was the only one who had emerged from these past few weeks unscathed. She had to be the strong one, the steady rock for the rest to lean on. Alisa was coming to understand her purpose on the team more and more as just that- someone who could be counted on to be trusted and to protect the team in crisis. It was something she was suited to.

Five hours was a long time to prep. Alisa headed to the lab after the briefing, sparing a sad glance back for Daphne. There was nothing she could do for her now. She remembered the last Kobra-related mission well- La Hoya, Argentina, where they had lost Casper and Felix. If their plan to pose as bait worked, they’d need some way to recover any information gleaned from their base. That was where Alisa’s new flash-drive technology, uncreatively termed ‘flash drive pinkie’, could come in. Memorizing the entire computer was an awful gambit, but connecting herself directly was a foolish one. Allowing her to download information like a computer while also protecting her core computer was the ideal, and what she was trying to improve.

In the lab, Alisa sat on the stool and booted up the computer, bringing out her tools while she waited for the program to start. She was nearly done. Hopefully she could finish this project in five hours.

Chaos followed Kassy’s haunted scream- but Alisa wasn’t sure why. Atlanteans and her teammates alike began to yell in terror, punching at things that weren’t there. Everyone was terrified without reason. She floated, a quizzical look on her face. Was ‘the defect’ that terrifying? It just looked like Kassy’s eyes had turned black and she had revealed a tattoo on the back of her neck. Then, Alisa remembered. Her powers. Mirage had to be stronger than everyone else had thought. She was out of control, broadcasting her emotions and taking over others’ minds with them. Alisa, however, was the only one who could see through the haze.

So many things were happening at once. Alisa’s eyes were drawn to Viktor as he swam over to Kassy, apparently in a daze, and threw a punch at her. Idiot! Asshole! Alisa started rapidly swimming towards them, fury building in her. Couldn’t Viktor see that it wasn’t her fault? Was he heartless? Aleen’a, ever brave, rushed at the two of them, barreling into Viktor- but it wasn’t enough to stop the next awful thing from happening. Alisa swam at them, trying to stop it before it was too late. She had the best chance of fixing this.

Aleen’a shouted to destroy the vials, and Alisa changed course, swimming towards the cowering scientist cradling them in his arms. Aleen’a wasn’t entirely correct about the vials being the source of Kassy’s rage- it seemed to be more about her emotions- but getting the vials out of their hands would help. It would prevent their usage- and whatever they were, Kassy and her ilk didn’t deserve that fate. It made Alisa terribly sad to think about. Brain-dead zombies. She understood why Kassy was upset.

“Give me that!” Alisa held out a hand for the scientist to give her the case and, when he simply cowered in fear, she yanked it from his hands. There was a struggle.

“Stop! Demon!” he screamed. “You can’t have the cure! I won’t let you!”

Alisa punched him in the stomach and ripped the case from his hands, pushing him aside and swimming up. “I got it! I got the case!” She could see no reason to destroy the vials- having them leak into the water might have some adverse effects on people- but they needed to be in safe hands.
