Metropolis National Park
January 27, 12:14

The sun shone high above the peaks of Metropolis' National Parks mountains, leaving a clear sky that was accompanied by a cold chill. Ricky wore a thin coat even though he felt perfectly fine, it was just that with the temperature being what it was he didn't want anyone asking any questions. His glasses were thick rimmed and did a good job of masking his identity, especially prudent after his somewhat misjudged declaration of war on crime recently. Almost immediately after he had stopped the bank heist and told all of Metropolis' criminal element to watch their backs, his mother phoned him in a panic. "What are you doing?! You're going to get yourself hurt!" Before he could even explain himself he found the phone hung up, his mother clear not interested in his excuses. It wasn't until a few days later he managed to get her to listen and she reluctantly admitted that she knew the day would come where he would take up the mantle of protector to the people of the world. That didn't mean she was any less concerned about her boy.

"Rick have you checked on the Northern tower yet?" The voice came from a radio speaker pinned to the young mans jacket. He reached down and raised it to his mouth to respond. "I'm just on my way over now Carl, i'll be about ten minutes." An audible ground came from the other end before a rather stressed Carl began to scold Ricky. "Look...I know you got a degree and everything but these maintenance checks are just as important as looking after the wildlife. Get your ass there now and do your damn checks." The other end went dead leaving Ricky to roll his eyes in frustration. Carl had been tough on him since day one but only because he took his job seriously, having been around for years he had seen everything and knew what was important and what wasn't. Begrudgingly Ricky started his jeep and made his way to the north tower.

The metal structure towered above the nearby trees allowing for a wide view over the majority of the park. The next couple of hours would be taken up by visual checks on the structure along with ensuring it's generator and various bits of equipment were all in working order. It was a paintstaking task and something that he could realistically do in a few minutes but he liked to keep himself grounded and appreciative of what normal humans had to do. As such he would do things exactly like anyone else would and that meant he would be there for the following two and a half hours.

The sudden pounce of Dustynn caught Leo by surprise, she had just called him an idiot after all. As she kissed him the coldness of the snow beneath him gave way to the loving warmth he kisses sent throughout his body. As they parted she moved to his side and together they stared at the clear night sky, Leo taking off his glove so he could thread his fingers between hers. They say in silence as they didn't need words to express how they felt about each other.

Eventually Leo could feel himself soaked throughout and so decided to make a suggestion. He turned in the snow resting on his elbow and looked down into Dustynn's beautifully dark eyes. "I don't know about you but i'm absolutely soaked through," he said with a laugh. "Maybe we should get going?" He really didn't want the date to end and after a deep breath he carried on. "I have a cabin nearby that I stay in from time to time...how would you fancy coming back there to get warmed up? I'll get a fire going and we can just hang out?"

As he finished speaking his heart almost stopped as his brain began to run rampant. What if she says no? What if i'm being too forward? What if she thinks i'll expect something off her? Shit! You've already said enough...just wait for her to answer before you make it any more awkward. He did his best to try and keep a positive expression his face but inside the panic was very much real.

With the short, and rather violent, battle now over, Gaz set about stuffing whatever snacks he could into the gaps in his armour. The plan that Cyne gave meant they wouldn't be hanging around much longer. "All da snacks for Gaz!" He avoided offering any to his colleagues, simply miming an offer with his mouth. Cyne and Gerad kept their distance from Gaz as they set off to regroup in the armoury as the blood on his armour had started to congeal and mix, giving off a horrific smell that the Fungai simply shrugged his shoulders at.

Within the armoury Gaz looked at all the technology on show with plenty of fancy looking guns much more shiney than anything Gaz had to hand. He pushed his way forward totally oblivious to the lack of Macklyn's presence amongst the group. He gave a simple nod to Silas as he made his way to the armoury lockers. With a rather Gaz'esque approach he began to tear doors off their hinges to expose an even wider array of weapons. Behind him he could hear Gerad set to work on his own project and so Gaz decided to get a new weapon for himself.

Taking several different weapons he placed them onto a nearby table. Metal crunched and snapped with bits, screws and bolts flying around in every direction. With the nearby crack as electricity arc's on Gerad's creation, Gaz raised his own invention high above his head in celebration. "I call dis my mega zzap gun!" The bright glow from the main body of the glow illuminated Gaz and his bloodstained armour. "Who likes it?!" He spoke with his happy, toothy grin, proud of what he had on show. As he lowered the weapon he placed it onto his shoulder, it's bulk meaning that it needed to be rested there for best effect. Unfortunately the clumsy Fungai accidently hit the trigger as he placed it onto his shoulder. There was a loud sound of a power charge before a bright beam of searing energy erupted from the weapons barrel. Gaz waved it wildly around the room. "Oh shit! Dis ain't good boyz!" For several more moments the beam cut into the walls and floor of the room before stopping. Gaz looked at the floor while rubbing at the back of his head. "Sorry boyz...I forgot to take my finger off da trigger." The beam had cut through several walls and floors as it's high energy made quick work of the metal.

Raising his head he turned to Gerad, "It's as good as yours dis!" He gestured to his new weapon by tilting his head towards it. While his intentions were pure the chances were that his four legged companion would be nothing short of pissed at how Gaz and his magic duct tape had managed to create such a powerful energy based weapon.

For years Sully had quite happily travelled the world in search of the best trainers he could find, but the last few months had become difficult. Many of the top trainers had signed up to teams and flat out refused to battle a nobody who's only claim to fame was his live stream battles. In reality he was known on the scene for beating some strong trainers but his lack of credentials meant it was difficult to convince the elite trainers to battle. That was why he was now in this massive castle atop a hill...to join a team. This would ensure, that assuming the team performed, that he would be able to come up against the best trainers the world had to offer.

Standing in his new room Sully took a second to admire all that had been provided to him and presumably the rest of the team. A most comfortable looking bed, a fully equipped entertainment centre and much more pleasing for him, a balcony that reached around his corner room. While they would likely not be spending massive amounts of times in their rooms, Sully was still appreciative of the effort. He briefly stepped out onto the balcony and marvelled at the view it provided, lost in it's beauty...that was until his phones alarm went off. Returning to reality was like a slap to the face as he had to leave the beautiful view behind and venture deep into the giant, stone castle.

Eventually Sully found himself sat around a large table with what was going to be his future team. Introductions and conversations had been minimal to non-existent beyond the sharing of names and the most basic of chit-chat. Leo was a social person and he was sure that he'd make friends with the majority of those around the table, but at that exact moment he was too excited to see what his first opportunity was going to be. Alexander had began handing out folders, giving everyone a brief bit of detail about what their task was and who they would be going up against. It didn't take long until Alex passed Leo the folder along the table, a grin etched into his face. He had commented on Leo's opponents lack of a second name, causing Sully to let out a soft chuckle. Reaching out to stop the folders slide, Leo brought his hand down onto it. "Cheers." He nodded at Alex in acknowledgement before the captain continued to the others.

The front of the file only had the name Slade printed across it but inside was a wealth of information, some of it personal while the rest was about his pokemon and history of battling. For a moment Leo paused as he realised that Slade was almost certainly going to be reading a file on him. 'I hope this guy brings his A game with him,' Leo thought to himself. As he read through the file he eventually reached a list of the pokemon in his opponents team. The one that stood out to him was Aegislash, the ghost and steel type was a formiddable pokemon. Leo knew exactly what they could do but that was because he had one himself. Fortunately he was confident that he'd be able to deal with whatever tricks Slade may have up his sleeve. Finishing off his light reading he closed the folder and stretched his arms out wide while letting out a deep yawn. A rumble in his stomach soon followed and he couldn't help but speak up.

"Is anyone else here hungry?" Leo began to look up and down the table at the others. "I mean is this place a case of set meal times or can I literally go raid the kitchen whenever I want?" Sully was fortunately blessed with a very high motabolism so his frame hid the sheer volume of food he consumed on a daily basis.

Room 102 - Motel Dere

Connor heard the door slam shut behind him with the various secondary locks and deadbolts not far behind. As he tried to regain his breath he turned to see Ana slide down the door with her back against it. As she came to on the floor the police officer could see the tears beginning to form in her eyes. “New rule, we don’t leave each others side, ever.” It then became apparent to Connor that he had been reckless, he wasn't with another officer. While she was a qualified doctor and likely skilled under pressure, she was still a civilian he had a duty to protect.

He walked over to her and squatted down, getting as close to her eye level as he could. He could see that the whites of her eyes had begun to redden ever so slightly, tugging at his conscience once more. "I'm really sorry. I didn't think." He glanced down at the floor for a moment as the shame became too much to keep looking at her. "I promise that I won't leave your side until we are out of this City...unless the rest of the world has gone to shit as well." That was a dark thought that he hoped wasn't true. His kids were in the next town over so if this thing hadn't been contained there was every chance that they would be going through what he was...or worse.

The mental image caused him to lose his legs beneath him, falling onto his posterior. They will be fine. They will be fine. He repeated that over and over again in his head for until he snapped back to reality. He looked over his shoulder at the double bed and back to Ana. "You can have the bed, i'll stick by the door." Gesturing with his head towards the likely bed bug ridden matress, Connor did his best to show her a smile. "I'll sit here and if anything comes knocking I won't need to go far."
