You might take a girl from a frontier planet, but you cant get the frontier planet out of a girl. Red has always had a rather... peculiar look, compared to most other mercs. Standing at 6'1", she isn't exactly small either; though it usually isn't just her tall stature that makes her stand out. Her deep red hair is what gave her her nickname. Her wardrobe incorporates a lot of western aspects, commonly seen on the frontier planets.
Her lower left arm was blown off during her capture on TRKS-9, which was replaced by an older generation prosthetic. Newer, more sophisticated models were offered to her by the organisation, but she refused any replacements, stating "They don't look powerful enough! I want people to fear my left hook!"
⋗ PERSONALITY
Red is brash, hot-headed and has issues with command hierarchy. It's not uncommon for Red to get into fights with the rest of the crew, though few can stand up to her in terms of pure strength. At the same time, you probably couldn't wish for a more reliable gun by your side. Fearless in the face of danger, she has quickly earned her place among the other shock troopers of Falchion.
In her spare time, you'll either find her drinking with her fellow mercs, producing make-shift hooch (note: contains heavy traces of fighter fuel), getting into fist-fights or tinkering on her gear in the maintenance garage.
Has an ongoing rivalry with Dimitry since they both appear to be polar opposites of each other, yet at the same time share a lot of similarities (such as a fondness of explosions). It hasnt led to disobedience... yet.
⋗ BIO
TRKS-9, a medium sized desert planet orbiting a yellow giant. It was hailed as the next golden planet during the last Union Planet Rush, prompting corporations and prospectors alike to flock to the planet. The rumors however proved to be wildly exaggerated, with most of the resources available on the planet being surface level only. The corps. were quick to pull support from the planet, leaving behind entire fleets of workers, most conscripted from prisons across the galaxy. The only semblance of a central government comes in the form of Heras, a security company that oversaw the protection of assets back in the early days. These days TRKS-9 is a wild frontier, where gangs rule the wastelands and the only that thing matters is the size of your gun.
Red never knew her parents, they abandoned her on the doorsteps of an orphanage when she was but a small baby. She never really blamed them for it, who the fuck wants to take care of some snot-nosed brat? Especially in a shithole like TRKS-9. The orphanage itself wasn't exactly on the level either, grooming children and selling them off to whichever warlord had the most cash while raking in that sweet Union support pay.
Even at a young age Red was a handful and had issues with authority. Her first escape attempt was at the age of 5, but she wasnt successful until she was 9 years old. Probably figuring the girl more trouble than she was worth, the orphanage simply stopped giving a damn. The girl integrated into the city's low-life child gangs like a fish in water, quickly earning her her nickname Red Menace, or simply Red. With dedication and lots of... persuading, Red quickly united the many smaller child gangs that ran the underbelly of the city.
For a few years, Red was pretty much the queen of the city's seedy underbelly, running a strict network of beggars and orphans. If you needed information, you went to Red. Of course, kids grow up and it wasnt long before red set her sights beyond the city's walls, the endless wastes of TRKS-9 where the warlords reigned.
Massive armored mag-trains supply the few cities scattered across TRKS-9, heavily guarded by Heras. They're considered a golden ticket, containing enough credits, weapons and resources to outfit an army. As such, they're a popular target. They're also riding fortresses. Most of the warlords leave the trains alone, since they're more trouble than they're worth.
Eager to prove herself, Red tried a daring assault on of the trains, only to discover the world outside the city walls is a lot less forgiving. Heras fought off her raider gang, killing many and injuring many more. Red was among those injured, her lower left arm blown to bits. She was given a simple choice, either rot in prison - which on TRKS-9 is a guaranteed death sentence - or join the Union's penal division.
Figuring a slow death was better over a quick death, Red signed up for the Union's offer. The Union's penal divisions are often used as meatshield to weaken a target's position before sending in the regular troops. The survival rate of a newly conscripted soldier is often gauged at around 20%.
Red took surprisingly well to the army life. Sure, she butted heads with the CO's a lot, often even literally; but her results spoke for themselves. Her brash nature eventually caught the eye of the Armored Personnel Division, who was always on the lookout for men and women who eagerly jumped into the maws of danger. Transferred to the armored division, Red received training in operating Armored Personnel Units.
After having served her time, even earning herself a few merits along the way, Red came to a crossroad. She was technically a free woman now and could go wherever she wanted, but army life had served her surprisingly well, even if adhering to an established hierarchy wasnt her thing. Yet at the same time, she also craved more freedom. Thankfully, the answer to her conundrum came to her in the form of Falchion. They're always on the lookout for promising recruits and promised Red more freedom.
She's still relatively new among the ranks, but has made a name for herself as being a reliable, yet stubborn fighter.
