So I edited my last few posts, bringing them in line with the current timeline, rather than making them CaHristmas posts. TL;DR, Olab was taking the form of Santa, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc, which allowed him to gain the trust of his "victims" (I use that word lightly, as he had no ill intentions). His race can gleam thoughts from others, which allowed him to find forms kids would trust.

So now all my posts aren't wildly out of time continuity.

Working on another post now (I'm on a creative roll and work is slow) and I'm also considering another character that can interact with others a bit more freely, but I want to finish reading the entire IC thread before doing that.

Yeah the CaHristmas posts have been a lot of fun. Where timelines are concerned you can always take my approach to them, which is ”Why worry~~” lol~

New character you say?

Time: Evening
Location: Smithy’s Grocery Store, Las Vegas

Radio chatter confirmed everything Captain Dahl needed to know, she was disappointed the operatives she sent in were simply canon fodder. She had hoped they would have softened up the group a little but by the sounds of it they remained cornered. The Captain pulled up her radio ready to start speaking new orders.

First, a head came rolling in a bloody trail. Then two bodies came flying through the entrance rolling to a stop by her feet, the bright distinct light of fire burst through the gloom of the grocery store. She flinched shielding her face with her arm.

Cautiously moving her arm back to her side, “Huh.” She looked down to the bodies at her feet, moving the cheek of the clearly dead operative with the toe of her boot. “You idiots couldn’t even get a few shots in? Fucking useless.”

A feisty bunch of freaks.

“Well now, they think it’s over? Show ‘em hope is a fleeting thing.” Captain Dahl said into her radio, out of the other vehicles came similar looking Hounds, in their almost identical black armour. Carting over a shoulder one of them dropped a duffle bag full of shiny clips of blessed silver bullets, plastic bottles of holy water, and blessed iron cross necklaces. Ten operatives all loaded up on two clips of silver bullets each, a bottle of holy water strapped to their hips and hung the blessed iron crosses around their neck.

Captain Dahl did the same, picking up a singular clip of silver bullets. She changed out the clip of normal bullets for the silver ones, fluidly - muscle memory moving her hands. She stepped up to the entrance of the grocery store, with both hands she raised her pistol. She couldn’t see far into the grocery from where she was, all that could be really seen was the light from apparent Witch-Fire. She fired off three rounds the first two shots had no feedback, her final shot found a target. A long howl of pain warbled through the grocery store in a chorus of angry cacophony followed closely behind it. It was clear as day to her ears, Captain Dahl took a deep breath in then gave the order for her operatives to move in. Well trained, knowledgeable, and direct experience with the supernatural had hardened their resolves. Aware of tricks, magic and curses that surrounded the strange. These very same soldiers had dipped their feet into the proverbial pool of violence at Pixy Stix. They were eager to remove a couple witches but as prepared for the abundant presence of the Fae. They flocked to the aid of the witches.

It hadn’t been more than five minutes after the Witch-Fire appeared. Just enough time to pray to the heretics they referred to as gods.

The confidence in which they moved was unlike the caution shown before, ten moved in through the front entrance. Captain Dahl ordered four more to support the back entrance, where they reported a giant metahuman. They went in armed with riot foam, dusting it off from their emergency kits. Reports had stated this metahuman was rather difficult to damage with bullets, perhaps he had some of his magical companions protecting him, aiding with monstrous strength.

It was no real concern, they could at least slow him down while they focused on their real prize of the day.

A good summer jam, gettin' those mid winter blues.
Speaking of opening posts, to give you guys all an idea of where we're all going to be for the first round of writing, this is an excerpt from the IC opener. Sets the scene in the Milky Way on the eve of departure. So please feel free to start working on your own respective posts with this scene in mind. Shoot us any questions you may have here or in the discord channel. <3

Prologue: A Night to Remember

“What matters now, for you and me, is what we do when we arrive. Who we become, and how we carry ourselves in Andromeda. Thank you, and enjoy your last night under familiar stars.” Jien Garson concluded from the podium, her face spread across dozens of viewing screens across the convention center floor. Over 100,000 prospective colonists who had been approved for the Andromeda Initiative were gathered in one of the largest convention centers on Luna, Earth’s moon, where the Nexus and the 4 Arks that were set to depart sat proudly in orbit above the celestial body, a triumph of cooperation, tireless work, and an astonishing feat of engineering. It was the party of the century; no one wanted their last night in the Milky Way to be a boring one, and even normally reserved or bookish personalities who had no interests in crowds were in high spirits, mingling with strangers who shared one thing in common; they were about to take the most daring voyage in galactic history.

It was a hell of a moment in time, that much was certain.

A thunderous applause and some wild hooting from the more enthusiastic of the crowd rang out, both to show appreciation for Jien Garson and her speech, but more importantly to affirm that this was really happening; the very next day, each and every single person who had signed up for the Initiative would be set into one of 100,000 cryo pods to go to sleep for the next 600-so-odd years and wake up so far away from home they could never hope to return, it was a one way trip and it was impossible not to feel the weight of leaving all of your friends and family behind, as well as all the comfortable places and sensations that had come to define your life. In an age where someone could go from one corner of the galaxy to the next in a matter of weeks, no one had ever tried an extragalactic voyage to the neighbouring Andromeda Galaxy; pictures of it were displayed predominantly across screens, highlighting the Heleus Cluster to show where home would be come when everyone woke up in what would feel like two days from now. It was kind of daunting.
