Christopher Arthur III

Chris marveled at the sight of the security guards and the police officers floating up towards the ceiling, as if gravity had no effect on them. He had never seen anything quite like it, and he’s has seen quite a few things, as far as the things one sees as a superhero. Even the drideresque heroine struggled to keep herself earthbound and eventually gave up (or so it seemed). With all the guards on the ceiling, it left everyone on the ground floor unprotected from Newton. Chris could call in his armor, but that would take time, something that they did not have right now.

“Are you now going to take me seriously, Mr. Arthur?” Newton asked Chris when he had turned to face him after he was through using his powers on the police, the security crew, and Arachne.

“If you think that your little show is going to scare me into helping you, you’re sorely mistaken.

Before Chris could utter any more quips, Newton slammed the butt of his gun against Chris’ forehead and knocked him off his feet with a low sideswiping kick. The fall, let along the blow to the face, temporarily dazed Chris as he rolled on the floor in pain. Chris immediately grasped his forehead as he tried to sit up.

“You might be all fancy and special inside your technology. But without it, you’re just a weak, useless man.” Newton taunted Chris, whose forehead was beginning to bleed.

“Chris!” Maya screamed as she ran as best as she could in heels towards her injured date. The illusion Aubrey (since the real one was on the ceiling trying to save the people stuck up there) reached out to hold Maya back, but she slipped through her fingers.

“I’m guessing this is your squeeze.” Newton told Chris when he saw the redhead hurrying towards them. The villain pulled out a spherical device, no larger than a baseball, and lobbed it up into the air in Maya’s general direction. As the ball began to fall towards the ground, two metallic cables uncoiled themselves from the devices interior. Newton had placed his toss just right that the ball fell right in front of Maya, with the cords wrapping around her arms. She tried to pull her arms out of the devices grip, but it would not release its grasp on her wrists.

“You have six hours to agree to my terms, Mr. Arthur.” Newton demanded. “Otherwise, I cannot promise her cute face won’t be bloodied up.”

Newton casually strolled over to Maya, since he had no fear of anyone in the room. He took hold of the device that bound Maya’s wrists together and used his gravity powers to levitate the two of them into the air all the way up to the roof. Over their heads, there was a glass skylight. With a few rounds of his glock, Newton shattered the glass, which provided an exit for his escape.

“How far out is my equipment?” Chris asked one of his technicians over his telecom while he was being attended by a medic.

“Three minutes, sir.”

“Good, because I’m going to fry that son of a bitch.”

Moments later, Arachne had descended from the roof on one of her weblines, saving one of the police officers who had fallen from the ceiling because Newton was no longer nearby to keep the officers and guards stuck on the ceiling. Arachne told Chris that she would go after Newton, while Chris should worry about the people still trapped on the ceiling. While Chris’ anger drove him to go after Newton, the time needed to get his armor on site would make it more expedient if Arachne went after Newton first while Chris handled the situation at the convention center. But once he was done there, he was going to unleash hell on that man who kidnapped Maya.
Kensei
Miyamoto Musashi

Early 18th Century
Japan

Miyamoto Musashi, now going by the codename Kensei, had traveled far and wide to vanquish the various yokai and oni that have plagued the island of Japan for far too long. One such journey lead Kensei to the Satsuma Province on the island of Kyushu. On his way to Kagoshima, Kensei stumbled upon a small cottage nestled in the mountain pass into this region. A beautiful, young woman, maybe a little too unnaturally beautiful, was accustomed to offer lodging for travelers to rest their sore limbs from a long day’s travel. When this woman approached Kensei, he immediately sensed an evil aura surrounding her, just like a cloud of miasma. If any normal person knew of this, he would have fled in terror long ago. However, Kensei was no normal man. His mission was to eradicate all evil that he came upon. Therefore, he could not turn back.

After he had accepted the woman’s hospitality, she led Kensei into her abode. He took a seat on the floor beside a small wooden table. The woman poured out a cup of tea for Kensei, although he politely declined, since he was unsure whether it had been laced with some sort of poison. The woman then began to play the biwa, a short-necked fretted lute. While she was occupied with her instrument, Kensei drew the Kusanagi, the blade bestowed upon him by Amaterasu, and slashed horizontally at the woman, felling her in one swift blow. When he approached to examine the corpse, Kensei discovered that a dead giant spider remained where the woman had fell. It was a jorōgumo, an arachnid yokai who tried to seduce young men before devouring them.

When the jorōgumo had been killed, the illusion that concealed the true form of the cottage was broken. Cobwebs covered almost the entire surface of the internal of the abode, while the skeletons of the jorōgumo’s previous victims were scattered across the floor. Content with his victory, Kensei turned to leave the cottage behind, but he failed to notice a webline wrapped around his leg. An abrupt tug on the silk robe pulled Kensei to the ground and yanked him through a small hole at the rear of the house. Since he was taken off guard from the suddenness of this trick, Kensei lost his grip on the Kusanagi, which he dropped as he was pulled through the hole. Once through, he found himself in a dark, dank cave that was also masked by cobwebs, much like the house had been.

Before Kensei stood a second jorōgumo, although this one was much larger than the first. The jorōgumo that Kensei had already slain was about the size of a large canine. This jorōgumo, on the other hand, could have been compared to an elephant in size, much like the giant arachnid Shelob from the Lord of the Rings books. The webline that had pulled Kensei into the cave were in the claws of its forelimbs.

“Your reputation proceeds you, Kensei.” The giant spider taunted the samurai whom she had snared in her webs. “I shall have the honor of killing the one called the Demon’s Bane.”

The giant jorōgumo continued to pull Kensei towards herself. She believed that Kensei was a sitting duck because he had been separated from his divine blade. However, like many yokai and oni before her, she would learn that she was sorely mistaken. While the jorōgumo continued to drag Kensei to what she thought was his imminent death, the stoic samurai focused his thoughts on the divine blade, Kusanagi. As the chosen of the gods, he had a special link with this sword. And through his willpower alone, the sword mysteriously slid its way from where Kensei had dropped it in the cottage into the cave and into his outstretched hand.

Terror and panic filled the jorōgumo’s mind as it lurched forward to fell Kensei before he was prepared for her attack. However, Kensei was ready for this assault, as he rolled to the side, dodging the giant spider’s attack. He then pulled himself to his feet and slammed his blade into the arachnid’s side like a hammer, spilling the sizzling green blood from her body. He continued launching furious blows with the Kusanagi against the jorōgumo until it too received the same fate as the first one.

Victorious for the second time, but now covered in green arachnid blood and spider silk, Kensei emerged from the cave. Before he left, Kensei made sure to set the cottage afire so as to rid this place of any future jorōgumo infestations. After he had cleansed himself of the grim of battle, Kensei continued on towards Kagoshima.

Modern Day
Japan

More than 370 years had passed since Kensei had supposedly died. Even though the modern era had come, the stoic samurai always remained vigilante, as one man could never eradicate the entirety of evil by himself. Those that he had not vanquished have learned to hide themselves away so as not to draw his attention. Evil will always remain, although it might take on new forms and shapes. Therefore, his task would never fully be done.

While Kensei was strolling through his secluded estate, he noticed from afar that a large sea creature had washed ashore. On further examination, the creature that had been beached was an oarfish. In Japan, the appearance of an oarfish, especially one as large as the one laying before Kensei right now, was considered to be an ill-omen: an earthquake would hit soon. Mere minutes later, Kensei experienced a massive earthquake. This earthquake was not just local, but somehow it was felt globally. However, even though every man, women, and animal felt the shockwaves of this event, no physical damage appeared, almost as if it had not happened. Scientists around the globe were puzzled at this occurrence, as the earthquake had not been picked up on any of their instruments, even though they themselves experienced it.

Kensei only took one thing from this event. That some great evil must have caused this massive earthquake. That the world still needed Kensei.

Rules and Expectations

* Stay true to the personality and abilities of the character, such as no Cyclops moving planets with his optic blasts, Dazzler defeating Galactus, or Aunt May as Galatus's new Herald...

* Do NOT rip off existing heroes in comic universes. Come up with your own creation. If your character is too similar to one in Marvel, DC, or other comic companies, you will be asked to change it or come up with a new character.

* Before starting a game wide event, check with the GM to ensure it will not conflict with ongoing plans. Such events should NOT be your introductory arc.

* Gods and other deities are not allowed. However, characters such as Darkseid and Odin, who may have been worshiped as such; are. Any "gods" such as the Olympians, will be as regarded as The New Gods or Asgardians in DC and Marvel.

* Mind control, reality warping, and cartoon physics and other such powers are not allowed.

* Do NOT criticize another poster’s character. We are not all Stan Lee or Shakespeare. Constructive criticism is okay as long as it is not offensive. This rule applies even if a poster asks for feedback.

* Your character should make sense. Wolverine doesn’t dance in the flowers. If you have a meek character, they shouldn’t be smacking other characters around.

* NPC's can be an important part of this game. Do not kill or otherwise compromise another player's NPC's without permission from the player who controls them. If the player does not consent to what you want to do, you cannot do it.

* Communicate with others in your arc. This is key to the fun. It doesn’t matter how many fights you win, it matters if the fights were written well.

* If you are collaborating with another player and you do not hear from them for 1 week, and they have not let us know of an absence either in the OOC or through PM's either directly to you or the GM's, feel free to move on without them.

* The Game Masters have the final say in matters of character acceptance. You are welcome to alter the character to make it less powerful or more creative, but arguing with the Game Masters is not allowed. This is a game, let it be fun.

* You are allowed up to four characters. However, if you are new to the game we recommend starting off with one. You can always add another character later.

* This is a working environment, so you can travel to different places using your powers or vehicles. Don't miraculously pop up unless you're a teleporter or such.

* If you are new to the RPG, your first arc should be your origin arc. There are NO pre-established characters in this RPG.

* You can reside in any place in the New Universe. Note, however, that the main city is Lost Haven, Maine. This is where a lot of the action will take place. You can also travel off-planet.

* Don't do anything RANDOM like chopping off board user's heads or what not, unless you're a villain chopping off NPC victims heads, then whatever, go with it, as long as it's not technically RANDOM.

* Don't be killing people without reason. You know your weaknesses and strengths, what you can do or can't. Dazzler will lose against Thanos one on one, but may be able to use her allies to help her out or she can run away.

* If you want to take part in this, just fill out an app and your name and character will appear on the roster, pending approval.

* You can form super villain gangs, superhero teams, alliances, the works.

* There can be a number of stories going on at once, using different people.

* Act like your characters; ASSUME their traits and personalities.

* There are endless places to go and endless things to do: ENDLESS possibilities so get creative.

* This game is essentially a PG-13 game. Use your discretion for cussing and swearing in posts. Some swearing is okay, but don't overdue it. Please don't make me amend this down the line.

* No obscene topics! NO exceptions will be made for the RPG.

* People who disobey these rules, some more major than the others, will get BOOTED by the Game Masters.

*If violate the rules and manage to get yourself banned from this game (or the discord chat), we reserve the right to write your character out of the game in any way that we as GM's see fit.

* I made most (if not all) of the character banners in this game. If you join and would like one, feel free to ask.

* This game has OPEN ENROLLMENT. There are no limits on the number of players who can join. Feel free to fill out a CS and join the fun!

Need to Know Events:
-Pax Metahumana: Doctor Diplodoc, a scientist, who had invented a serum that could imbue metahuman powers onto regular people, planted several devices hidden in Lost Haven and several other cities that would create a sort of energy dome that would progressively transform the population of the world into metahumans. He claims that, due to recent events, humanity needs to 'evolve' in order to survive and his plan would do just that. While the heroes were able to dispose of the device in Lost Haven (it was dropped in the Atlantic Ocean), the devices in the other cities detonated. A coalition of heroes rallied together to storm Doctor Diplodoc's base and deactivate the domes. While most people exposed to the domes were cured afterwards, those who developed powers at the onset of the crisis were stuck with them. Locations affected: Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles/Pacific Point, Philadelphia (RIP), and Seattle.

HAVE FUN!
(Or Else!)
Aubrey Adkins

Well, I’ve gotten myself into quite the precarious situation. That’s what I get for assuming that a bad guy with a gun could not possibly have superpowers, too. I mean, why would you need a firearm when you yourself are a living weapon? I guess the element of surprise would explain it. And because of this error on my part, I’m now holding onto this webline for my dear life or else I’m going to be stuck on the ceiling like the other cops and security crew. Why can’t the bad guys just surrender when the heroes ask politely? Jerks.

My hands began to slip as the lack of gravity’s effect on my body continued to pull me up towards the ceiling. Thank God there is a ceiling or there would be quite a few dead people in space right about now. I tried to tighten my grip on the silk rope, but the webline continued to slip ever so slowly through my hands. I only had a little more than a foot of spider silk left to hold onto. I have even tried to make new weblines that were longer. However, unless its length could reach the top of the ceiling, this strategy would not solve my problem, but only delay it.

“Let go, child.” Athena suddenly appeared before me. I assumed she was invisible to everyone else in the room, since that was her style. Let go? Is she crazy? What would be the point of that? I would be stuck on the roof and that Newton guy would be unopposed on the ground. Sure, Chris was down there, but he was unarmed. What good could he do? However, I was not sure whether to express my disbelief in her advice. If Athena was invisible, would it look like I’m talking to myself? I obviously don’t want to make myself look insane. Well, more insane than I already do by running around in this skin-tight costume while playing superhero.

“Newton’s gravity manipulation powers might be temporary and may rely on him remaining in the immediate proximity. If he escapes, then those men and women stuck on the ceiling will fall to their deaths.” Well, if she puts it that way, I guess my talents would be better utilized helping those stranded officers and guards than holding onto this silk rope.

Therefore, I took a deep breath and released my grip on the silk rope, causing me to float up towards the ceiling. It kind of felt like what you would think that one scene from the old Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie where the boy and his grandfather were floating after drinking from that bottle in the final room. Minus the burping, of course. And the killer ceiling fan. I would still be holding onto that webline for my dear life if that was the case.

Once I felt my back hit up against the ceiling, I used my ability to cling to almost any surface to flip myself over so that I could crawl around the ceiling. Now that I was safely on the ceiling, I turned my attention to the people whom I was supposed to be rescuing. The first person I came upon was the rookie who took the premature shot at Newton. He was shaking all over, probably terrified that at any moment he might be plunged to his death.

“Don’t worry. I gotcha.” I tried to console the man while I tethered him to the ceiling with silk produced from the spinnerets in my wrists. It took me a few minutes to secure everyone, since there were quite a few people stranded up here by Newton’s powers. About a baker’s dozen or so.

However, before I could get to the last person, the laws of gravity were restored. Since I was using my powers to cling to the ceiling, my body did not notice the difference, but I knew it was back when the last officer began to fall. Instinctively, one of my hind spider legs pulled some silk from the spinnerets on my spider abdomen and attached it to the ceiling before I leaped after the women. I pushed off from the ceiling towards the woman, aiming to catch her before she went splat on the floor. Once she was safely in my arms, I tried to use my hind spider legs to slow our descent. However, I also could not abruptly stop our descent, since the change in momentum would probably break the officer’s neck. The floor appeared to rush closer and closer to us (although I know that it was obviously the reverse: the ground was not moving). When we finally came to a complete stop, our heads were only inches from the floor.

“Well, that was close. I told the female officer who I had just rescued from falling to her death. I then helped her to her feet, turning her right-side up. Once she was safely earthbound, and after my spider-sense reassured me that I would not squash anyone (Hey! If Marvel can make Spider-Gwen look like me, then I can call my sixth sense a spider-sense.), I released the webline that I had just created and jumped down onto the floor back onto all eight of my legs.

Now that I had averted one crisis, I found another starting on the ground floor. I saw that Chris was sitting on the floor with his hand grasping his forehead. A paramedic was crotched down in front of Chris, tending to a cut on his face.

“That jackass pistol-whipped me.” Chris complained as he winced at the burning sensation of the rubbing alcohol that the paramedic was applying to the location where Newton hit him. “Once my armor arrives, he’s not going to know what hit him.”

“Well, assuming we get the rest of the people off the roof, at least nobody got hurt.” Chris gave me a sour look after I said that nobody got hurt, despite that fact that he got pistol-whipped to the face. I could have relished his expression if it were not what he said next.

“He took Maya.” After he spoke, I turned around and saw that his red-headed date was in fact missing. My cloud clone…thing was still standing there, so that’s a relief. It kind of would have been a little awkward if I had to go rescue myself. But on the other hand, that would give me some deniability that I’m not Arachne, even though I am.

“You know what. Why don’t you stay here and get those people off the roof while I go save your girlfriend.”
@Rtron: Looks good so far. There are a few sections that still need to be filled out before the GMs can go over it for approval.

Jeanette Forestier stood on the parapet wall of her apartment’s roof. For an ordinary person, a bystander would have called suicide watch if they saw someone standing on the edge of a roof. However, after the incident in Washington Park, Jeanette was no longer just a regular person. When a gentle breeze blew by, the blue avian feathers on her arms rustled. During the incident in Washington Park, Jeanette had watched her arms morph into the wings of a bird that were scaled up to fit her body.

Jeanette had never tried to fly since she gained her powers from the incident. What did she have to lose not trying? She took a deep breath and began flapping her avian wings back and forth while she built up the courage to make the leap. She nervously clicked the talons on her feet, which had also become avianlike because of the incident in Washington Park. While being a woman with arms and legs that were an avian and human mix (although they were more on the avian side), she also did not think her appearance was bad enough to end her life. The rest of herself was still one hundred percent human. She was just afraid that she might plunge to her death.

With one last deep breath, Jeanette bent her legs and launched herself into the air. At first, she could not tell whether she was flying or falling, but after a few seconds and an adrenaline rush, Jeanette found herself gliding in the air, where she had to flap her wings every once in a while to keep herself in the skies. It was an uncanny feeling to see people and cars on the street below from a bird’s eye view. Looking down from a plane is one thing, but, when you are the one flying, it is a totally different feeling.

After she felt comfortable with flying, or at least more than she did before she took off, Jeanette tried to get her bearings before setting course towards campus. She saw on Twitter that someone was holding a small support group for the victims of the Washington Park incident. Since she was already out now, she decided she might as well go. However, when she got closer to campus, Jeanette realized that she also had to figure out how to land. After circling the greens below her so that she would have time to recall how a bird lands, she saw out of the corner of her eye a small bird fly down to the ground.

Jeanette tried her best to mimic the bird’s form. Sure, she might look like a big goofball, but that was preferable than face-planting into the ground. Not only would that suck, but also hurt. A lot. While the landing was a little rocky, Jeanette did successfully return to the ground without getting a mouthful of turf.

She then turned towards Adams Hall, the building where the metahuman support group had been scheduled to happen. Since she was still getting use to her new avian feet, it took Jeanette a few minutes to walk over to the entrance of the hall. Once she got there, she was really fortunate that she still had opposable thumbs on her wings or else she would not have been able to open the door. Before she headed to room 307, Jeanette made a pitstop in the women’s restroom.

When she peered into the bathroom mirror, Jeanette saw that the wind had made a mess out of her hair while she was flying over here. It looked almost like she had ridden a motorcycle without a helmet. While most would have thought she had dyed her hair the same color as her wing feathers, that color was actually now her natural hair color. As she did her best to tame her hair, Jeanette wondered if she should cut her hair. She was not quite sure if she was ready for a pixie cut. Maybe a bob cut.

Once she had fixed her hair, or at least to the point where it would not look like she had just rolled out of bed, Jeanette proceeded to room 307. She found that flying up the stairs was far more efficient than walking up them due to her avian feet. After the going up two flights of stairs, she wandered around until she found the room. When she found it, Jeanette found four people waiting in there. Two of them were wearing regular clothes, although their cat and wasp traits (respectively) made it clear that they were metahumans. The third girl was wearing a raincoat, despite the lack of precipitation that day. The last person, who was the only man in the group, was wearing a superhero costume that was comprised of several shades of brown with black stripes on his back and dinosaurlike tail.

“Hey.” Jeanette introduced herself. The four individuals inside the room turned their attention towards the harpy girl. “My name is Jeanette, although you can just call me Jean. I guess I found the right place.”

Christopher Arthur III

Once Aubrey had stepped away to get some more drinks for herself and Emily, Chris began to chat up Emily once again. Several months ago, prior to the Pax Metahumana crisis, Chris had actually casually dated Emily, although it was more like a couple nights before they decided to break things off. But since they both knew the type of relationship they were getting into, few feelings were hurt. Chris’ reputation for being a womanizer made sure that Emily knew not to get too attached. Meanwhile, Chris could not date other women seriously when Archangel would periodically appear out of the blue. Chris would not have liked to see what a pissed off android would do if she had walked in on Chris with another girl.

Emily was unlike the some of the other models and rich women whom he had dated in the past. Beauty is a fleeting attribute, slowly slipping away as one grows older. Instead of placing all her eggs into one basket in hopes of winning the lottery of celebrityhood, Emily also was training herself to become a nurse so that she had an occupation after her modeling career was over. Plus, she either could actually understand some of the technical parts of his job, or at least was good enough to fake it to make it look like she did. It is a fantastic change of pace when a date doesn't just nod and smile when you try to explain what you do for a living.

While he continued his conversation with Emily, Chris did not realize that Maya had slipped away. It would turn out that Maya was fortunate by sneaking away when Chris felt the cold metal of a pistol press up against his back. A man who was dressed in the same attire as the servers who were weaving around the crowded event stood behind him. He held the gun inside of his sleeve so that only the most astute bystanders would notice.

“Don’t make a commotion or I’ll make sure you will never walk again.” The man threatened Chris.

“What do you want?” Chris whispered over his shoulder.

“I woke up today to find that my wife, who was alive yesterday, somehow had perished during D-Day and my little girl no longer exists because of it. You are going to help me figure out what’s happening.”

“And your grand plan for getting me to cooperate is threatening me with a bullet to the back? Really?”

“I can always find another genius.” Chris heard a click originating from the man’s gun.

“And what do you expect me to do about you problem? I don’t have a magic wand that solves any type of problem, you know.”

“You’re a genius. You’ll figure it out.”

“I don’t think it works like that.”

“Is that a gun?” One of the bystanders at the party suddenly squealed when she saw the barrel of the pistol poking out of the man’s sleeve. A panic spread like wildfire when the other partygoers heard the word 'gun'. The man immediately threw his arm up and placed the pistol’s barrel up to the side of Emily’s head. Meanwhile, everyone else began to slowly back away from the danger zone. It was at this moment that Chris realized that Maya had walked away towards the bar where Aubrey was while he was talking with Emily. Although he wondered what she might have said to Aubrey, that mystery was for another time. He was just glad she was out of harm’s way.

“Okay. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Almost as soon as the first commotion erupted, the security staff and the police who were tasked at patrolling the event rushed onto the scene, surrounding the man, along with his two hostages. Chris also noticed that Aubrey had switched over to her superhero alter ego. However, he was surprised when he glanced over where Maya was standing and discovered that somehow Aubrey was also still there. He knew for a fact that Aubrey was this spider-themed drider, but he had no idea how there were TWO of them at once. Again, that was a mystery for another time.

“Alright. Can you make this easy on all of us and just surrender? The Aubrey wearing a spider-themed superhero costume and with a drider physique commanded the man holding the gun.

“How about no.” The man barked back. He then removed the barrel of his gun from Emily’s head and aimed it at Aubrey.

“Really?” Aubrey placed her hands on her hips. “You think that will deter me?”

However, before the man could pull the trigger, one of the rookie officers got a little trigger happy and fired his gun at the man in the center. Although the officer’s aim was true, long before the bullet even got near its target, it nosedived into the floor. The officer who fired his gun stood in shock at what happened to his bullet.

“There’s a reason why people call me Newton.” The man calmly stated as he sheathed his pistol.

“So you’re full of sugar, like the cookie?”

“No.” Newton gave Aubrey a glare because of her Fig Newtons joke. “I’m a master of gravity.”

Suddenly, all the security guards and police officers float off the ground, as if the gravity of the earth was no longer pulling down on them. The initial upward movement that these men and women experienced felt sent them rising up higher and higher until they found themselves pressing up against the ceiling of the Roy Walley Convention Hall. Even Aubrey’s arachnid powers struggled at keeping her on the ground. Eventually she was only tethered to the ground by a webline that she had attached to the floor. It took all of her strength to hold onto the webline to resist the upward motion the rest of her body was moving in.

“Do I now have your attention, Mr. Arthur?”

Kelly Brown | Samantha Kadowsky | Zac Wilson

Kelly filled up eight more glasses of water for the n’teenth time already from their kitchen tap water. After the first few trips between the kitchen and the couch, she decided that it would be far easier and more efficient to carry the glasses with her two additional arms while she was in her wasp form. With each of her thumbs and index fingers clamping together the rims of two cups, Kelly carefully carried the water over to where Taylor was sitting, whom Kelly, Sammy, and Zac first thought was some sort of slime monster.

At first, the three of them tried to give Taylor a blanket to wrap around herself. However, they soon discovered that the moisture generated from Taylor’s body would soak the blanket. After much trial and error (and of course Kelly placing one of her four hands over Zac’s eyes), they finally found that a water-resistant tarp would do the trick. They also had her rest her feet in a bucket so that she would not waterlog their living room floor.

Although she had regained an almost regular human appearance, Taylor still had some uncanny attributes. While she did retain the apricot hue, her entire body was semi-transparent. With this said, even with her skin’s transparency, you could not see any bones or internal organs, even though you could see a faint outline of your hand if you were to place it behind her. If it were not for the fact that her body was not collapsing upon itself, one might have guessed that she did not have these internal features. Her eyes also were only made of a single color that matched her skin. While she had defined eyes, with eyelids and all, Taylor had no iris nor pupil.

“So…” Taylor began to speak after she took another sip of water that she received from Kelly. “How do you guys hide your, um, powers?”

“Oh, we have these wristbands that suppresses our abilities.” Kelly slipped off the wristband from her arm. Since she had already deactivated the device, nothing happened to her appearance when she removed it from her wrist. “Maybe we should see if it works on you, too.”

Kelly then handed her power-nullifier over to Taylor, who slid the device over her wrist. For a moment, the device restored Taylor’s original appearance. However, while Taylor was placing the device around her wrist, her liquidy skin had already began to cover the device. After one small spark, her regular human appearance disappeared and her metahuman one returned. When she pulled the device from her wrist, the four of them saw that it was covered with a goo that Taylor’s skin consisted of.

“Sorry.” Taylor apologized for the condition in which she returned Kelly’s power-nullifier.

“Don’t worry.” Zac said, “That’s the second one Kelly has gone through.”

“Zac!” Kelly tossed a pillow from the living room couch in response to Zac little dig. “I didn’t have any control over the first one being snipped!”

“Just calling it how I see it.” Zac held up his wrist, which also had a power-nullifier that was near identical to the one that Kelly had. “I still have my first one.”

“That’s SO impressive!” Kelly rolled her eyes and then gave a smirk at her boyfriend.

“They’re just both jealous that they don’t have bling that masks powers.” Sammy whispered to Taylor from behind the couch while showing the ring on her finger.

“God, don’t get her started on Lyger. She’s supposed to have ended that obsession.” Zac shook his head in disappointment.

“Anyways.” Kelly glared at both Zac and Sammy. “If you want, you’re welcome to come to a little support group for any victims of the incident in Washington Park. I can let you know when we finalize the details.”

“I’ll think about it.” Taylor told Kelly.

“You also have to promise to keep our identities secret.”

“You mean your identity. I think it is public knowledge that Sammy and I are metahumans.”

“Same difference.”

“One question.” Taylor asked.

“Yes?” Zac and Kelly answered at the same time.

“Do you mind if I go home now?”

“I’ll give you a ride, since Zac is so worried about his secret identity.” Kelly hopped up from her chair and grabbed the car keys from the kitchen counter. “Love you, Zac.”
Good posts. That is all.
Just want to drop this in here as an FYI. ;)

Create a Hero RPG Application (NPC Character)

Screen Name: Dedonus

Original Creator: Johnny Blaze

Character you have created: Kensei
Alias: Demon's Bane (alias); Hunter of the Gods (alias); The Celestial Samurai (alias); Izanagi's Chosen (alias); The Swordsman (alias); Miyamoto Musashi (true name)

Speech Color: Teal, Bold

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity: His true name is known only to a select few, and his existence is debatable as most believe he is merely a legend in the same vein as Beowulf or King Arthur.

Character Personality: Kensei is a honorable warrior who puts the lives of others ahead of his own. He is a stoic figure, rarely opening up to people, save his only friends (described later in supporting characters). Kensei tends to be blunt and to the point, which can rub people the wrong way at times. Due to his training he is a respectful man, but it is difficult to gain his trust. Once gained however, you will find Kensei to be a generous, good hearted soul with, surprisingly, a decent sense of humor though he rarely lets it show.

Uniform/costume: Standard Samurai Armor

Origin Info/Details: He is the ancient Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, and his life story is the same as that of his real world self. However, he did not die as he appeared...at least not as we perceive it.
His spirit traveled to Takama-ga-hara, The High Plain of Heaven, and was met by the god, Izanagi. The Sky-Father of the Japanese pantheon was here to honor the swordsman for his deeds on the mortal plane. Though he did not die in battle, Musashi was still an honored warrior and was spared a life of eternal rot in the Yomi (the Underworld). Izanagi was going to grant Miyamoto Musashi a great honor, one never before bestowed upon a mortal.

Izanagi granted him the title of Kensei, sword saint, for his prowess in battle, and offered for Musashi to become his agent on Earth. Musashi could not say no to a god such as the Primordial Sky, and agreed to the offer. Izanagi smiled and placed his hand on Musashi's spirit form, imbuing him with the power to carry out his mission. Musashi would become Izanagi's hand on the mortal plane. He would be the Hunter of the Gods, seeking out the evils of the world and sending them back to Yomi.

Musashi's spirit was taken by Izanagi and rushed back to the material plane where it entered the young body of a recently slain samurai on a now quiet field of battle as an enemy was about to take it's head. Musashi sudden awakening upon returning to the mortal coil, caused the trophy-seeking samurai to waver and flee in terror of what he believed was a demon. Musashi payed him no heed, instead the warrior took in his surroundings and found a sword laying before him on a cloth of silk. The sword was of amazing quality and bore no signs of wear or battle damage. The weapon seemed to glow with a faint white aura as a single ray of bright sunlight beamed down upon it.

Musashi heard a voice in his head, the voice of the sun goddess, Amaterasu. She bade him to take the sword as a gift from her and the gods. The sword was the legendary Kusanagi (Grasscutter Sword), and would be a great asset to Musashi in his quest. Musashi graciously accepted the weapon and placed it in his belt. When he returned his gaze to where the sword was, he saw that the silk and sunlight were gone. The warrior did not dwell on this, in fact he did not have time to. The samurai who ran off had returned with a small band of his allies to "slay the demon". Musashi did not wish to harm them, and quickly ran away at speeds no mortal man could hope to match.

Musashi's travels took him to Echizen Province where he was taken in by a single father and his two daughters. When asked his name, Musashi thought on it and replied "Kensei", the title given to him by Izanagi. Over dinner, Kensei learned that the village he had taken refuge in was being terrorized by giant lizard-like creatures. The monsters would come in the middle of the night when the moon was high and terrorize the villagers. As they rampaged throughout the village, they would destroy crops, tear down buildings, and viciously kill any who got in their way. They were cold, remorseless creatures who came down from the mountain caves. Kensei listened to the man's tale and agreed to aid the peaceful village in it's plight. The man was grateful, but scoffed at Kensei's claim, wondering what good one warrior will be against the monsters.

Night soon came, and Musashi quickly found out the man's story had been true. A dozen lizard-men stormed into the town leaving death and destruction in their wake, but they soon found themselves face to face with Kensei. The battle was bloody, but quick. When the dust settled only Kensei still stood, peices of the lizard creatures strewn around him. He had slaughtered them all.

The man and his family along with the rest of the village slowly made their way to the site of the slaughter. Looking upon Musashi's handiwork, the villagers were both jubilant and horrified. Despite what he had done for them, none would approach Kensei out of fear. For no man could do what he had done. Finally though, the man who had took him in moved to stand before Kensei and thanked him, calling him a gift from the gods. Kensei cut him off though. It wasn't over. It wouldn't be over until he hunted down the rest of the beasts and sent their dark spirits to Yomi.

Kensei tracked the creature's path through the forest. Somehow he could sense where these things dwelled. It was as though he could feel the evil aura these creatures emitted. Soon Kensei came to a small cave, the presence of evil simply pouring from it assaulting his senses. Kensei entered, and a great battle ensued. One by one, the Hunter of the Gods stalked his prey and slew them. Soon he confronted the leader of the creatures, a great serpent demon. The demon attacked Kensei, mortally wounding him. But, to the serpent's amazement, Kensei's wounds soon healed and the samurai soon attacked once more. The battle was brutal, but Kensei finally claimed victory when he lopped off the demon's head in one, clean stroke.

Kensei returned to the village and informed them that they did not have to fear the night any longer. That night they presented him a small feast in his honor, but Kensei quietly departed when no eyes were upon him.

Kensei traveled the land of Japan, slaying all manor of Oni and monsters, and saved hundreds of lives. Musashi slaughtered the Nue that tried to take the health from the Emperor, he defeated the Ama-no-jaku after it had killed and impersonated the melon-princess, and slew the Bake-kujira which haunted the coast of the Shimane Prefecture. There was no evil too great or too minor that escaped his divine wrath. As Japan grew older and became more modern though, the hero Kensei quickly fell into obscurity and his adventures into legend. He now makes his home in Yokohama where his gathered wealth has bought for him a large property on the city's outskirts. He lives on this property in a modernized version of a large pagoda in seclusion save for visits from his only friends and allies, Hideyoshi Kenshin and Ami Kenshin, whom watches over the property when Kensei is away.

But, despite this his quest did not end.

Musashi continues his work for the god Izanagi, slaying the creatures and followers of darkness wherever he may find them. He has survived through the centuries, a ghost in the modern machine. He does not exist, and it is debatable whether he ever did. His mission is never-ending, but his methods have taken a more secretive approach due to the technology of this new age. It does not bother him though. Kensei does not seek glory or fame. All this legendary samurai wishes is to perform his task for his master and to save the innocent lives at peril.

And as long as there is evil in the world, Kensei will live on to eradicate it from existence.

Power Level: World Level

Powers: Granted powers by the Sky-Father of the Japanese pantheon, Izanagi, to become his chosen champion of the Earth: super-human physical abilities; ability to sense evil around him (30 ft radius) as well as follow the trails of evil beings (provided the trail is still fresh as after an hour it will grow cold and dissipate); a healing factor (think wolverine); wields the Kusanagi (bronze-age style sword, double-edged straight blade blessed with divine power: can cut through anything, even magical enchantments (think Marvel's Ebony Blade); bonded to Kensei's spirit allowing the samurai the ability to summon the sword to his hand as long as they are both on the same plane of existence; enables Kensei to command the winds when in his possession from a simple breeze to a hurricane-force gale)

Attributes
Strength Level: Class 20

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 30 Mph (but bursts of up to 50 Mph are possible over short distances, but Kensei is unable to keep this speed for long)

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2 hours (Kensei was given super-human stamina by Izanagi to perform his task of killing otherworldly creatures)

Agility: 5X peak human

Intelligence: Average (sciences & technology); genius (supernatural myths and legends, demonology, battle tactics, leadership, and the arts of war)

Fighting Skill: Mastered (Kensei is arguably the greatest swordsman that has ever lived, and is a master in many forms of armed and unarmed combat)

Resources: Large (over the centuries Kensei has acquired enough wealth and connections to allow him to further his mission without worry along with a handful of minor mystical artifacts he has liberated throughout the centuries*)

Weaknesses: None really, but, despite being blessed with divine might, Kensei is still a human at his core. He must eat, sleep, breath the air...everything a normal man must do. Thus he is susceptible to attacks that effect his breath (suffocating, gases, etc), as well as being able to be knocked unconscious as a human would (it'd just take a lot more force to do it). He can be killed, though it is uncertain what will happen to him if his death truly does occurs...

Supporting Characters: Kensei grew tired of seeing those die around him a long time ago, so he has tried to distance himself from people to spare the pain of loss. Despite this act, Kensei has had an ally in his battle against the forces of evil in the form of a family of monks devoted to the gods of old. Through the centuries, Kensei has allied himself with the children of each generation once they come of age.

Currently, his main allies are a man in his late 20's called Hideyoshi Kenshin, and his sister, Ami Kenshin. Hideyoshi is a fully trained martial artist being taught the ways of his family's duties and history by their father, Ryo. Hideyoshi is a care-free individual in appearance, possessing a strong sense of optimism and humor. Hideyoshi is always trying to look on the bright side of things to brighten his friend's day and get him to loosen up. When the time calls for it though, Hideyoshi can become one of the most serious people you will ever meet. Like Kensei, Hideyoshi puts the lives of others above himself and will do anything to keep his sister from harm.

Ami Kenshin, while still taught the family discipline, took a different path. Instead of focusing on hand-to-hand combat, at a young age it became apparent that Ami was adept in the ways of magic. So she was given proper guidence and training in The Art, and soon became a skilled sorceress. Though not as powerful as some of the other mystics of the planet, Ami Kenshin was able to conjure many wards and enchantments to keep Kensei's place and the artifacts housed inside protected. Ami is a beautiful young women in her mid-20's with rare jade-colored eyes. When she first met Kensei she immediately felt an attraction to the noble warrior. At first Ami dismissed it as the fantasies of a young girl, but those feelings soon grew into something more. However, Ami is reluctant to tell Kensei how she feels for him, though Kensei knows. He has the same feeling towards her, but is afraid to get close to someone in a relationship. Ami is a caring person, and, like Kensei and Hideyoshi, puts the well-being of others over herself. She is a shy person, but tries to keep that from getting in the way of her duties.
