A small giggle left her when he said he’d leave her if he couldn’t find a decent way to get her out. “The fact that you’d even attempt to get me out is more than anyone else I had ever attempted to work with. Let’s just hope you don’t end up having to make that trip.” Her head rose and fell in a nod before she watched him take off upstairs. Huh… weird.

Her attention moved to her feet as Peanut came up and began to sniff her. A gentle smile moved across her face. Her parents and, incidentally, her were always on the run and never was able to keep a pet. So the little fox was very interesting to her and she found herself almost enthralled by it as it sniffed her boots and seemed to make little squeaking noises. The gentle smile soon spread across her lips showing her straight white teeth as she listened closely to his little noises, it was adorable.

The footsteps caused her head to jerk up as Jacob returned down the steps to the dining/sitting area and he handed her a very bulky walkie-talkie, her hand dipped slightly at the surprise of the weight of the thin but hey it was better than nothing. “Maybe you do have some good ideas every now and then.” She said jokingly as she clipped the walkie-talkie onto her belt and went back into the kitchen during off the oven and began plating up the food, two regular plates and a much smaller plate in case they could give some to Peanut.

Taking out forks she walked back into the area and set down the plates. “Can Peanut have some?” She asked as she held up the smaller plate.
At the soft touch, the young man winced; it shouldn’t come as a surprise as their guild master wasn’t someone who could have gotten into his position over nothing. “He’s far from a pushover I’ll give him that.” Dexter said with a chuckle to his voice as he laid his face onto the raw steak. His gut turned at the thought of becoming an S-Class Wizard. Not because he didn’t want to but because he wasn’t sure where he and Dawn would end up; could he still take her on S-Class Missions? Could they still work together? Or did they have to wait until she became S-Class, and if she did get called… would he be allowed to help her? Or worse… could she end up picking his tunnel and they had to fight?

All the thoughts that were racing through his mind stopped when she asked if they were going to do this and declaring that if anyone would help him make S-Class it would be her. Lifting his head from the steak he turned to look at her. He stared at her for a long moment before reaching out and taking her by the shoulder… he pulled her to him, close and almost rested her against his chest.

    Almost…

Instead he put her in a headlock before ruffling her hair. “Like I’d choose anyone else, stupid.” He rubbed his hand playfully across her head, tussling her hair in a loving fashion with a bright smile on his face. With that he let her go and gestured towards the board, “Why don’t you grab a job and we’ll get some good practice in.”
If she were to chalk her actions up to anything, it would easily be nerves. Could you blame her for being nervous though? She was on a pirate ship destined for god knows where and all she wanted was someone to get her to the island and get her home. And now she was stuck on a pirate ship where the best thing she could have happen to her is get thrown overboard and the worst wouldn’t even be death…

However, she stared at him as he explained what knots where and her eyebrows rose as she nodded. “Oh… okay.” That realization left her to know that she was much better off with help then going after this by herself. She had already spent a large amount of time to try to figure out how exactly ‘knots’ worked in the ways of sea travel but it did not prove to be fruitless. Plus after seeing how many people were on the docks getting onto ships and looking at the number of crew he had; she was honestly better off not trying to go alone but whether that would be better than the situation she was currently in was left to be determined.

The mention of sacking in a ship didn’t need an explanation as the twinkle of his eyes and that crooked smile said that ‘sacking’ was a sea word for stealing from a ship, hopefully just stealing but… who knows. A sense of danger washed over her and all of her hair seemed to stand up on end. Oh god what did she get herself into. Her attention went to the map she had made and followed his finger trace with her eyes. If they were off the course she needed and it would take some time for them to get back… all because he had to get some gold.

A gentle sigh left her. Sure it wasn’t ideal but it was more then what she had and that she needed to be grateful for. His question pulled her attention to her book. “Um…” Turning the page she scanned the words and translated them within her mind. “12 knots north so… twelve hours.” Look at her learning stuff.

The presentation of the cup to her seemed almost surprising. He was being… kind? She couldn’t let this gesture get to her and let her guard down. Her life depended on him liking her to some degree but also her future depended on his help. As he took up the cup she did the same but again, hearing his name cause her hair to stand on end. Of course it would be Calypso’s ship.

She clanked her drink against his, “Money, Captain Fenix,” Her answer was simple and straight forward. “I need money.” With that she took a drink.

To her surprise it was really good and her small drink turned into a big and practiced gulp. “I must say Captain, I’m surprised you’d share such good wares with someone you seem to be so apprehensive about working with.” A small giggle left her as she took another large drink and let out a long sigh, “I haven’t had a drink like this in a while. Thanks Captain.”

A nod rose and fell her head before she laid the book down on the table and opened it back to the page she had been on before. “According to this after we travel the 12 knots north we will travel 48 knots east.” A small whistle left her, “Boy this seemed like a lot shorter trip when I thought they were referring to knot tying.” Shaking her head she let out a sigh before moving the liquid in the cup. Her sea green gaze turned up to the Captain from across the table. “Can I trust that I have safe passage there and back?” She may not be in the best position to ask such a question but if he was sharing a drink with her that must mean something right…?
