Fatima allowed Jassen to be bossy toward the innkeeper who seemed to take it in good spirits. She was glad of that. It was certainly he who could toss them out on their asses. She plopped down on the bed and kicked off her muddy boots before flopping backward, arms outstretched. She smiled, turning her head toward her companion. "No bugs. No dust. All in all quite comfortable. Better than some accommodations. Certainly much better than the stables." She sat up and crossed her legs on the bed.

"I know you are trying to protect me but there is no need to be so harsh with people. As a general rule, being kind to others until they give you a reason to be unkind. I think it's a good way to be." She grinned her bright, charming smile saved to placate and calm her court. "Don't be so on edge. You also need your rest, friend. Lest we are unable to travel the winds tomorrow. So relax. We'll take turns keeping watch." She yawned lightly and rested her chin on an upturned palm.

She heard a sudden slam from above and she jumped up from the bed, staring at the offending bit of ceiling. "Mother Darkness," she breathed. "What was that?" Now, who was on edge?

His weekend was spent mostly alone, studying. It was a fairly typical weekend. And a very boring weekend. Sunday night was spent flipping through old books of plays he had taken home from the library. Maybe he could find something good, new, and fresh (so to speak) instead of the usual plays the school always did. He fell asleep reading through these and was dead tired when his alarm woke him. Never the less, the dutiful son he did his morning routine and went to school.

He wished he had called in sick. He wished he had stayed home. Another stupid assembly. "Mornin'," he yawned at Declan, falling into an easy chat with his friend. Soon attention was called to the stage and just as easily as his friend Guy began to ignore it. His head lulled backward as he started to fall asleep. He only awoke again when the assembly was over and there was movement around him. Guy wiped some drool from his mouth as he was nudge awake. "Mmm, yeah dude. I'm just gonna grab some eats and I'll meet ya there." He stood and stretched before making his way down to the cafeteria. He only paused when the little gift package was pressed into his hand. It was hard for him not to gasp loudly and he instantly threw it into the nearest garbage can. His cheeks were a hot shade of red as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.

Luck was certainly not on his side today. As he made his way through the lunch room to get through to the lunch line, he managed to overhear a certain part of Archer's conversation with Kavan. He really hadn't meant to do it. He hadn't been looking for Archer at all. But it was hard for his ears not to pick up those delicate tones that had always managed to caress his heart into a rapid tap dance. He did not stop. He kept going. Now was not the time. Guy just began throwing random things onto a tray and his mind was in a daze. He checked out and carried the bag of food down to the music room. Upon entry there was Declan. He did not speak. Guy sat at the piano, dropping the bag next to him and shrugging out of his school jacket. Still dazed he began to play Nuvole Bianche, no sheet music in front of him and eyes closed.

Bea's head jerked up and she saw Jordan. His face. Eyes. Nose. Lips... All of it there. Her eyes welled up with tears as overwhelming feelings began to build up inside of her again. Today was just too much. Her heart was doing that thing where it felt like she would die. Slowly, shaking, she moved her legs into the truck and closed her door, rolling open the window to blow the smoke out. Her eyes stared straight ahead as she watched the students begin their daily discourse which had only been paused by the deranged rantings of a power-hungry lunatic.

She dropped the butt of the cigarette onto the ground beside her truck before rubbing her hands over her face. Would he say anything else to her? Did it matter if he did? Her heart demanded to leap out of her throat and her stomach churned wildly. She was dying. And the last stupid thing she had listened to was some crazy people tell her that drugs were bad, mmkay? She turned her face when she heard Jordan's car door slam shut. "Wanna come sit?" she asked before leaning over the bench seat to unlock the door for him. Her voice was soft and shaking horribly. Just about as bad as her whole body, hands especially.

She was following absolutely none of this. She felt so completely confused and it was beginning to show by the way her face and eyes glazed over. She decided that it was better to just put all of her attention on the babe. She sat down on the floor with her not too far away and produced a rattle from one of her many pouches. It was merely a drum skin filled with rocks and meant for dances. However, it worked perfectly for a wee infant.

She shook the rocks for the baby and then handed her the wooden handle. From one of her other pouches, she produced a number of animals carved from semi-precious stones. There was a horse, a rabbit, a pig, a dog, an ox, and a bird. They were large enough the child would not swallow them and so allowed Mona to play safely while the grown-ups talked.

Bobbi's eyes widened a moment as she sipped at her drink, which was nearly gone now. Richard's comment surprised her. He was certainly the type who liked to flirt with all of the girls. However, he tended to view her somewhat like his sister. Well, if he banged his head or something she wasn't about to let the advances of an attractive man just lay. "Oh, dat so?" she inquired, a spark of mischief in her eyes. "Is dat why you ain't had repeats to yahs bed?" She sucked down the last of her drink so that the straw made that awful 'trying to get the last bits of liquid' sound.

She felt quite bad for Casper. It wasn't as if he was intending to behave as if he were a little off and confused. If he had been dabbling in drugs they just tended to do that to a person. Bobbi could remember a time her mother had forgotten that she'd even had a child. She glanced over at her friend and his daughter, thinking perhaps she should say something but Casper seemed to take it all relatively well. And in the end, there were shinies to speak about.

Wrinkling her nose at Anastasia she quickly said, "Dah'lin, I know youse had a silvah spoon stuck up yah ass all youse life, but chitlins cannah be left on dems own. Das how ya get dead bébés." She clucked her tongue at her, the silver spoon comment meant to be playful and not hurtful. Couldn't be her fault that the rich girl didn't know about child care. "Why naw let lil' Yita try? She be a sweet lil' t'ing. No worse an idea den lettin' he be on her own." She so desperately wanted to be talking about the theft instead of this but it seemed there was much to sort through.

Even if they had attempted to keep her away from this place, even if she had never traveled here specifically, Fatima had experienced such dirty and poverty-stricken places in her lifetime. Hell, they were some of the easier places to hide in when she traveled on her own all those years ago. But the world could change quite a bit in fifty years. She made sure the skullcap was placed firmly on her head and all of her dark waves were tucked into it. Perhaps some might be fooled. Hopefully most if they were drunk enough.

She entered the tavern alongside Jassen, allowing him to keep a protective arm about her. She wasn't sure if that would really create less or more notice. She did catch the words some troublemakers were saying to each other, likely about some poor girl stuck in the rain too. Dirty, lascivious drunken men who could hardly keep it up anyhow due to their inebriation, seemed to take great joy in hitting on a feeble female.

Luckily for herself and Jassen, the owner seemed to be the good sort of man. Offering his own bed to a couple of weary travelers. She opened her mouth to respond but remembered she was supposed to be acting as some sort of page boy. She quickly shut it and instead turned her eyes toward the disgusting men. They had disappeared. But it seemed not long before another man was hot on their heels.

Her eyes glazed over in confusion. She had absolutely no idea what the apparition was talking about. Parallel dimensions? She had been many places in her life and done a great many things. None of it prepared her for what was happening now. Mona decided the best thing to do was let her partner in crime deal with this. She seemed to understand and know a lot more than Mona did. She turned her attention to the one thing she did understand and that was the baby.

It became apparent to all in the room with a functioning nose that the child had soiled her diaper. Amarantha even made a comment. And though she didn't like the way the very important woman spoke to her, she would do her duty to the babe. So she deftly set about changing the diaper. It was an easy, messy process and once the powder had been applied to the infant's bum she wrapped the child in a new cloth and pinned it together. What was she to do with the messed one though? She glanced at Aramantha in the hopes that she might know.

She was glad to see that Lexi enjoyed her new bracelet and it looked quite cute on her! She felt the warmth of pride spread through her body as she settled back in the chair on its two-legged position once again. Casper's comment had her raising her eyebrows though. "Yeh go on a bendah or sum'tin?" she asked teasingly. "J’ai gros couer," she said with great feeling and drama. "Tah be fo'gotten." She placed the back of her palm against her forehead dramatically.

This light-heartedness ended when Mary entered the room and the two sisters did as they always did. Fight. She rolled her eyes and settled her chair forward so all four legs were on the ground again. Sipping her drink her attention now turned to Gambit as he began to explain their heist. Her eyes brightened with delight. "Sum'tin shiny, yah do know how tah please a lady don't yah" She winked at her boss and grinned.

Dinner continued without a hitch. People ate and chatted and grew a bit closer. Was it because they already knew their partner was likely forever and so made them more forward? Perhaps. Or was it true chemistry between folk? What did it matter? All that came from the dinner were smiles and promises and excitement. At 7:05 the band quieted once again. Onto the stage came Vance. A small round of applause started and then subsided when he raised his hand.

“Thank you. I hope the meal has been satisfactory for everyone. My wife, Amelia,” he paused as a slender woman with dark hair tied up in an intricate bun on her head walked onto the stage. She was dressed in a lovely green dress which complimented her features. He wrapped an arm about her waist and she rested a hand against his chest as she leaned close. “And I would like to thank you all for coming this evening. I met Amelia through TAP you know. And here we are, 15 years strong. I pray and hope that you all get to experience the same joy that I have. No. I guarantee you will.” His beaming smile flashed beneath the lights. Amelia smiled in quiet complacency

“Before you leave your tables you will be met by your vacation supervisor. They are here to ensure you have a fantastic experience together. They will hand out the agendas and prepare you for the next step on your journey to true love. Do not be afraid to ask questions or request anything from them.”

He placed the microphone back into its stand. He gave a small wave to the crowd before dipping Amelia and giving her the kiss of a lifetime. There was applause and the pair walked off the stage, engrossed only in each other. After a few moments a tall, muscular woman approached the table. Her dirty blonde hair was done in braided pigtails and she wore a form-fitting, pin-stripe suit that seemed like it would break beneath the pure pressure of her musculature. She could likely bench half of the table without breaking a sweat.

“Good evening!” she chimed in a soft, inviting voice that did not quite match her frame. “We are all a team here. You and me and all of us together. Anything you are needing I am here to provide.” Her accent hinted perhaps a Swedish heritage, but she sounded American enough that it was questionable. “After you all are to sleep this evening, we will be boarding a cruise ship to take us to the Royal Pearl Isles. There are a series of islands here that we will visit for a short while before going onto our next destination.” The woman began to hand out little leaflets to each couple which discussed all that could be found for fun aboard the cruise ship as well as facts about Royal Pearl Isles.

“A little about me,” she said, pressing a hand against her chest. “I met my husband through TAP. He is there,” she gestured to a shorter, thin man who was talking to a nearby table. “And we have been so happy since. My life has been bettered through him. He gives me calm and grounding while I provide a drive to move forward. A perfect match. And I desired no more than to give that to others and I now have a job here, through the company. It is a dream come true!” Her bright blue eyes filled with tears as she appeared to remember some things. She shook her head, blonde braids bobbing with the movement. “So sorry. Unprofessional. Questions for me?”
