After about an hour of answering reparative questions and waiting for the list of names to fill Hark called everyone who he enlisted to get on line. The group was smaller than he had hoped considering the size of the city he was in but considering what they were about to go face he didn’t blame people who lived cushy lives To drop anything and go fight. Hark’s men had formed up on the opposite side of the new recruites and were facing them.

Hark’s second in command, Jagger, walked up behind him, “Twenty-seven in total, not the numbers we want but the men look sturdy enough not to all die in their first battle.” Hark looked over the group once more, “Lets hope you’re right.” As he walked the line he studied the faces of his new section and came to a halt in front of a tall figure wearing armor and a helmet. “Do you show your face?” Hark asked as he looked into the helmet, a cold pair of hazel eyes met his gaze. A cold “No” was the reply the stranger gave him and to Hark’s surprise the person was a female.

“Very well”, Hark said as he took a step back to study the woman closer. She wore armor that was well wore which showed she might have had some experience. “Congratulations on your promotion, you’re now the section leader of these new pukes. I’m going to need you to divide you section in two and then pick a team leader from the two teams.” Hark nodded to the woman in armor and then headed to the middle of the section and looked looked over the group one last time.

“Alright listen up Pukes”, He said in a voice loud enough for all to hear, “You will receive your first months pay right now before I realease you. But armor, a sword or pike and a shield whatever is left is yours to do whatever you wish with. If any of you decide to back out you will return the coin we have given you and if you don’t you better start funeral preparation.” Hark looked at the groups and could see a few looks of unease amongst the group, “Meet back here tomorrow morning before sunrise, and enjoy yourselves because you might not see your families ever again. Dismissed!”

As the group broke Jagger along with Eric and Stormer were calling the men over to a chest to hand out their first months pay. As the group filed through Hark saw the woman he promoted to section commander and walked over to her, “What is your name?” He asked.

@Shadow Dragon It’s been discussed before and as long as it’s not less than a paragraph you’re free to post how ever long you’d like. It just so happens most of us post long enough for it to land in the casual/advanced section.
@Lucius Cypher Sounds good to me I’ll be at a town only a days ride on horse from the my characters stronghold in the mountains and since I didn’t specify which town I was in I don’t have to change anything.
@Lucius Cypher Yeah I was just playing it as he just got the message and he was recruiting some people from Tembrele to take with him to fight the Orcs in the northern territories. I can edit my post or keep it how it is either way Hark is leaving very soon.
@Lucius Cypher Oh I actually didn’t quite get that my character already had left I thought he just got the message.
Hark stood on top of the small platform in the center of the courtyard of the city and looked around at the crowd that had amassed. He noticed curious and suspicious looks he got from the crowd because of his mask. He was flanked by four of his men on either side of him and Ragger and two others sat behind a small table on the ground in front of Hark. The rest of his troop was spread around the perimeter of the courtyard. His goal was to recruit as many people from this isolated town as he could to take back with him to the North to fight against the Orc war bands which were starting to raid the human territories. He waited a few minutes longer before deciding the crowd of about 80 people was the biggest it was ever going to get.

“Alright everyone, I am Hark, Grandmaster of the Frostbourn stronghold in the Northern mountains.” He said in a clear and assertive tone, “As many of you may not know Orc’s have started raids on our northern territories and I am here to recruit anyone who wishes to fight the growing Orc threat. Your salary will be ten silver coins every month along with the spoils of war.”

Hark held his younger for a moment and observed the crowd. They were all murmuring amongst themselves probably deciding weather the risk was worth the reward. After a few moments passed Hark started again, “If you are to enlist we will be leaving tomorrow at sunrise, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy yourself and pack some of your belongings.” Hark stepped down from the platform and his men dispersed into the crowd to answer the questions of the many curious townsfolk.
Will start my next post now glad to see things have moved along.
Hark had watched the drinking game go from bad to worse as the big bearded man was being dragged out by the tiefling as he choked on whatever was in his drink. Pretty soon he started to transform growing more and more hair over his body till he resembled a huge bear. The bear started going crazy breaking tables and knocking over people as it went. Soon the bear found it’s way on a destructive path towards Hark and Beth. “Oh crap watch out!” Hark exclaimed as he and Beth hopped over the bar onto the other side where her father was already taking cover.

“Is this the kind of fun you find out in the world?” Beth asked Hark with a wild grin on her face. Hark have her a shocked look, “This is definitely not my definition of fun.” He replied. As he sat against the bar counter he looked behind him to the small cabinets and started rummaging around and finally found 3 decent sized knifes. He looked over at the white faced inkeeper who seamed to be preying, “Can I borrow these?” Hark didn’t wait for a reply and he knew he wouldn’t get one and jumped up on the bar. The bear like creature was heading towards the tiefling who had drawn his sword and was trying to distract the big bear. He took one of the knives and threw it expertly right into the back of the bears leg. The bear gave a small roar of pain before scratching at the back of his leg to dislodge the weapon. While Hark knew to the bear the knife wound was a mere honey sting it would at least distract the bear and slow it down.
@Lucius Cypher you have a thing for Orcs don’t you?
@ALonelyParrot. Possibly most of us are waiting for the GM to post to move things along so hopefully he/she does.
