IBANs have proven not to be annoying enough. Let's kill both metric and imperial systems by expressing everything in Planck units.

Welcome to my profile page!

Who the hell is this person behind those many miles of fiber optics and copper cable ?

  • I'm a 34 year old guy.
  • ... who's working as a software developer
  • ... and enjoys roleplaying as a casual hobby to distract himself from ongoing stress

And into which hell will I descend with you participating in one of my roleplays?

  • I'm a fantasy addict: medieval high and low!
  • I'd consider myself to be a low casual roleplayer, 3 paragraphs per post on average.
  • My schedule varies. It might happen that I won't be able to post at all for a week, but then again it might happen that I'll reach a sweet spot inside which I can go on a posting rampage. I'd say one can expect 1-2 posts a week from me, depending on the lengths involved.
  • English is not my native language, but so far I've not encountered anyone who had had trouble with me over that :)

Want to RP with me ? Shoot me a PM, but don't shoot me!

Thanks for visiting!

Týfurkh

Climbing up a seemingly endless flight of circular stairs was not exactly one of Týfurkh's most favorite activities, but it was necessary nontheless and he was fully trained. Anyone not believing this would be proven wrong by his ability to maintain a fair speed despite the fact that he had to lift an almost ludicrous amount of weight, taking two steps at a time each time.

"Der Freischütz, you say ?" A gentle smile crept onto the man's face. "You know that the nation of hearing has a certain faible for music and such ? If you like operas you really should go there once. Maybe, once this is over, we can travel together..." That was a bit of a two-sided coin Týfurkh was referring to. After all an opera was much more than just music. It also was sort of a visual novella and as such good operas probably could also be found in the nation of sight as well, but that was place he never had been previously.

"I'll try to remember that code..." Well... he simply had to. They probably would only have the opportunity to deliver a message once, so if this one transmission did not match what was expected their mission would end in utter failure. As they continued to climb the tower Týfurkh and the others could already feel fresh gusts of winds coming down. Apparently the top of the tower had not been sealed off or had already been opened up again, a good sign at least.

"I also need a direction as precise as possible. Give me a landmark or something else to shout at, given the distance the area where my voice will be heard will still be pretty small." The top of the stairwell was covered by a large wooden hatch that lead to a platform probably intended for maintenance. From there the tower's bells and the mechanic that allowed them to be rung from down below were within an arm's reach. The latter seemed to be fairly new, but the bells themselves probably had been hanging there for decades, if not centuries. Not really surprising given how much effort had to be put into getting them there in the first place.

"Alright. Give me a minute or so, please..." Týfurkh whispered and tried to stay back from the rim of the platform. It was preferable if noone spotted them high up here and the same was true for hearing them. He untied the uppermost part of his armor, allowing his breast to spread further while shouting, and seemed to become more and more concentrated. "Karina ? The direction, please."
Did I already mention that I like undead characters and would like to play one at some point ? You know... lifetime restrictions can be bypassed, and bypassing the constraints of reality is what fantasy was invented for.
Happy Birthday then @The Fated Fallen :)

And to answer the question... Well I'm still the same incorporation of roleplaying-lazyness I always was since forever. But I'm on 4 days vacation!

Vadym had hoped for finding some kind of settlement in order to have several days of rest before continuing a journey that never seemed to end. Port Vale however, after having had some first looks at it, appeared to be on the very borderline of acceptability for the battle mage -- and that was taking into account the fact that the king's men had just left the place already. With that annoying bunch of people around Vadym would probably have tried to find his away around this town.

A tavern was found quickly and without the difficulty of choice -- there simply was just one tavern renting rooms in Port Vale. Vadym made sure he'd have a place to stay for the night, then continued to venture deeper into the arrangement of buildings. At least there seemed to be some more basics available: food stores and a blacksmith very always good to have. Then something stopped him: A small piece of paper lying on the ground. Apparently someone had disposed of it since there was no obvious source to be seen in the area, and it had become so wet and dirty already that 'deciphering' was a more appropriate term then 'reading' when Vadym decided to pick it up.

It was saying something about four adventurers for some kind of quest. They should gather at... that was the part where damage had taken the greatest toll. All Vadym could read was that the place had to be some kind of magic store. Well... shouldn't be too hard to find in Port Vale, should it ? There hardly could be more than one of those around here.
I'm interested in this RP and trying to work on a character. I guess it will be some kind of roughneck :)
Hello!

If you need any help with this place feel free to hit me up. Same if you're interested in 1x1 RPing :)
Týfurkh

"You're right, we need to be careful. However if it alleviates anybody I can say that so far I'm not picking up anything suspicious." Completely counteracting his previous statement Týfurkh didn't hesitate to add though that, unlike his voice, his hearing wasn't much better than that of the average human though. "And I can't deny the fact though that I myself probably am not the most unnoticable one."

The party ventured on, but the city's state in general didn't get any better. If anything it seemed to have deteriorated over the night even more. The clocktower was still standing though as everyone could see if looking at the horizon. "I doubt that anyone will be able to intercept the message. It is a very directed wave, not a general shoutout. One can only hear it if standing within its wake, and for this somebody would have to be, well..., floating in the air as it travels down from the top of the tower over the city walls towards its destination. I see the danger of interception much more outside the city's walls than inside. However all of this is presuming that we can still access the top of the tower."

That was were Týfurkh's most urgent concerns were. Their mission could end with as little as finding a gate firmly locked and so strong that none of them could break through. Or their enemies might have taken a hold of the tower as it could also serve as an excellent lookout and a way to sound a general alarm when using the bells. Or, while its walls were still standing, it could have suffered enough of internal damage for its higher levels to become inaccessible without great effort.

"Say... can you climb ? Does anybody have a long rope or so ? Just in case..." he addressed both Karina and DB. "We don't know that internal state the building is in, but we need to get as high up as possible. The higher the more unlikely interception will be and the better we can take aim. The message will be pointless if it travels along the wrong direction."

@13org@Jerkchicken
Well I feel obliged to apologize for the huge delay on my side. I worked like 70 hours on each of the past two weeks and am like brain dead these days, but I feel like I still could have done way better than this by making different choices than I did. So, in other words, I'm a lazy-as-fuck couch potato and writer lol.
That had went surprisingly well. An-Hasst silently had expected there to be a real fight. One they only could have lost, assuming that the party would not have managed to retreat back into the more dense part of the woods fast enough. Still, given the last of the giant's statements, there was still trouble ahead of them. Now all of what they had seen made so much more sense: With stone giants using this as their 'playground' on a more regular basis it was pretty obvious why there weren't so many trees around here anymore. But maybe there'd be a patch of blood soon enough, if not on purpose then by accident. The Skayleigh knew that the other elf in their party was a very fast and nimble one, but everything had its limits and so had An-Hasst's desire to gamble.

"I might not look like it compared to you..." he started to shout out towards the 12-foot giant. "... but I'm partly of your kind. I'm a half giant, one of flesh and blood. And the other part of me I share with the one who you say is about to disturb your game. So I hope you can understand why I am reaching out to you again with a simple question: Maybe I go in there in order to try and get our friend out before anything more serious happens ?"

Part of him felt rather stupid for talking in this manner, but another part feld quite obliged. Who else was similarly well suited to this ? As a Skayleigh he knew he was fast, but at well over seven feet and with shoulders broad as a wall he also was more easily to spot for both their missing party member and any of the participants in this game. And maybe there'd even be some kind of... diplomatic bonus so to speak.
