I'm definitely going to be keeping this idea in mind. Very interesting, and multiple authors working on an entry together sounds like it could make for some fantastic storytelling.
Well, I think all the votes and critiques that were coming have arrived, so I'm gonna lock the thread and announce the winner!

...or that's would I would say if it were not for the Guild being down for several days, so I'm extending the voting period by a week!

See you all on the tenth!
If the Guild shits itself at least it'll have a clean diaper to do it in

Voting and Critique

And so ends the submission process of New Beginnings, and thus begins...the voting!

I encourage everyone that cares about the Contests(and if you don't already, I encourage you to begin now) to read through all of the wonderful entries submitted in the past two weeks, and cast their vote for their favorite! The submission with the most votes will be posted in a stickied "Trophy Case" thread where it will be displayed for all to see, and its author added to the list of Meritorious Writers at the very top!

Of course, this thread is also for critiquing. Note I said critiquing, not shitslinging. Constructive criticism only, please. Feel free to go through any one or all of the entries and give you two cents in helping your fellow writers improve! Those that have entered this contest are absolutely allowed to critique each others' works, though voting is not allowed.

Needless to say, using multiple accounts to vote more than once is NOT ALLOWED, and if an author uses alts to vote for their own work, they will be disqualified on the spot and disbarred from entering any future Contests.

Please vote based on the merits of the work, not for the sake of a clique or just because the author happens to be your friend. And mostly certainly do not attempt to have an author falsely disqualified because you don't happen to like them, because I'll fucking find out and it won't be pretty.

And thus, the deadline has arrived, and this thread shall now be locked. Thank you all for your entries! Keep an eye out for the voting and critique thread coming soon!
It's been a long time, but it's finally here: RPGC #15! If you're feeling creative, go pay the official Prompt and Entries thread over in the Contests section a visit!

Give us your best!
Really this thread's utterly pointless and has only so far served to let armchair lawyers stroke their e-peen over how much they think they know about copyright law.

Everyone with half a brain knows that this issue will be dealt with by the mods the same way it's always been dealt with no matter the outcome of this thread, IE respecting artists wishes and honoring takedown requests(though hopefully after actually verifying the artist). I'd honestly just lock and end it.
New Beginnings

A welcome to one and all, to readers and writers, to the revival of the Guild Contests! It's been a while, and it's high time we get started again! With a new team, new prompts and a new year, what better and more fitting thing to write about than new beginnings?

Unrestrained by the baggage of the past, starting anew gives so many options. Sins are washed away, mistakes are forigven, and the green fields of the future are open to you. How will you change? What will you do? Do your actions affect the world at large, and if so, how?

It's time to make a change...

Contest Rules

1. A small taste should be given of what the focus character(s) was like before their second chance. They could stomp puppies for all I care(please don't describe them stomping puppies), there just needs to be a chance for the reader to see a contrast down the road.

2.The focus character(s) must change in some way as a person. It doesn't need to be a full 180 personality swap, but how they change should be at least semi-obvious through their thoughts and actions.

3. Entries should be around 500 to 1000 words, though further than a thousand won't get you disqualified; just have some common sense in how much you fluff things.

Grounds for disqualification

1. Plagiarism.

2. Your entry having no clear connection to the prompt.

3. 18+ scenes. No sexy times or descriptions of gratuitous violence/gore. Have some class.

Please submit your entry here in the Prompt and Entries thread by Monday, January 22nd. Direct all questions to my PM box, and I will be more than happy to answer them.

Please hold off all votes and critiques until the proper thread has been erected for this prompt.

Special thanks to...

@ArenaSnow for his help formatting a system for future, weekly mini-contests and @Odin for the suggestion for this month's Main Contest prompt and his ideas for incorporating different mediums into Contests in the future. Also thanks to both Odin and @Poohead189 for formatting feedback for this prompt.

Recent absence? I've been around.

I'd been waiting for about a month or so for some word on other contest mods, or some kind of green light for me to go ahead and start. Even longer for something from Hank, who started the recruitment two(almost three) months ago.

I didn't go directly to either of you to bug you about updates, since I assumed you'd get back eventually. I'm just getting restless, and am eager to revive the Contests section.
