Damn. The spire had come close to doing it's job, but his timing ended up being off; causing the hairy bastard just to stumble. However, peering into the darkness, Jason could discern that Rattleskull had caught himself on a stony pillar, and was now searching for his unseen assailant. Countless years spent on the battlefield had trained Jason's battle senses to untold levels; weaknesses, opportunities, tactical miscalculations.... endless combat had engraved a sort of sixth sense for these things; one could even call it predatory.

Right now, such an opportunity was ripe for the taking. In the forearm exists the radial artery, if said artery were to be cut in a combat situation, fighting ability would suffer CONSIDERABLY as a result, potentially even causing the combatant to bleed out; and right now, Rattle-fuck's was ripe for the taking. Channeling his mana through the ground as it took on the aspect of earth, Jason drove his energy further on and up the pillar. A [Rock Spire I] burst forth from the pillar, poised to tear through the underside of the boss's forearm and sever the radial artery, with how focused he was on finding Jason, he'd never see it coming.

However, another problem seemed inbound. A squad of goblins led by one with broader-than-usual shoulders was headed his way. Absorbing his final mana crystal, Jason readied a [Stone Shot II] with one of his remaining spikes as he squashed himself down, compacting his body as much as he could to hide. Once their torchlight fell over his slimy body, he let loose the spike into the Brawny goblin's throat.
@Jangel13 I can drain the severed leg for power correct?
@CloseEnough I'm sorry, but with college starting up for me, I'm gonna have to bow out of this one. It was fun while it lasted, and I'm sorry to leave everyone hanging.
Nero Capital City

@Rai@13org

Yes. Good. The little ants were trying so hard to protect themselves. Oh how adorable! In the millenia that had passed, it would seem that the arrogance and zeal of mere cattle had come to know no bounds. From tunnel of shadow mist emerged heavily armed warriors, their souls far stronger than anything else this pitiful excuse for a city had to offer. They looked truly…. DELICIOUS. But let them have their moment, for souls that experience hope, only to have it ripped away in their final moments tasted far better than normal. Over a hundred more troops joined the stronger ants in their ‘assault’. Chains bourne of magic and darkness reached out from the abyss helplessly wrapped around the dragon’s body. Though he could tear through such petty bindings with ease, he allowed them to engulf him as tiny warriors rushed toward his hulking form, followed by a volley of massive arrows…

From the ground, it would seem as if the day had most nearly been won by the efforts of the Neroan troops. They couldn’t have been more wrong. Mere inches from their mark, the entire volley of dragon-slaying arrows was swept away by a spontaneous gust of wind. To the dragon, this was the equivalent of flicking away an insect. A vile sound; horrible enough to make even the bravest of souls soil themselves filled the air. The dragon’s amused laugh echoed throughout the streets, a powerful feeling of dread fell over all who heard it. This wasn’t a fight, it was a GAME; the monster was merely toying with it’s food.

With a violent jerk, nearly seventy of the city’s defenders became pale and lifeless, their very life essence robbed from their bodies. Those who didn’t fall immediately faced another consequence, a crushing pain constricting their chests as they collapsed to the ground, many fainting from the sheer feeling overtaking them. Troops fortunate enough to be furthest from the dragon would feel a slight pressure on their being as they felt a sizable amount of their strength evaporate in response to the dragon’s might. Only Sleeth and his hand-picked elites would remain unaffected, only detecting a trace amount of the otherworldly pressure brushing over them. ”Is that all? I expected something more… SATISFYING. the dragon tauntingly huffed as it looked directly at the King of Nero, a mad grin spreading across it’s terrifying face. Moving slowly forward as if to challenge the elite troops, the beast tore through the chains like wet paper mache, they were clearly inconsequential to this monster.

Could it truly be stopped?

It’s slow approach was accompanied by a sudden, otherworldly cold that invaded the air. The typically temperate city dropping to freezing temperatures. If that wasn’t unsettling enough on it’s own, even more disturbing was that any non-magical temperature reading devices would detect any difference, any form of magical device intended for communication, navigation, or temperature reading would be driven haywire, typically ceasing function altogether. The otherworldly cold seemed to defy all reason, piercing all means of clothing and armor, creeping its way deep into the bones of all that felt it, the only physical sign of the cold’s existence being the foggy breath of the living.
Aaron Yang

Near the Docks, Cham

@BrokenPromise@Letter Bee@ERode
Weaving through sidestreets casting paranoid glances to ensure they weren't followed, Aaron gritted his teeth. There were too many people staring at them! Could they really escape their fate? Or did far worse await the group? The question seemed to instantly answer itself as a heavily accessorized woman in red spoke to them "Excuse me." Every hair stood up on Aaron’s body as he froze in place. ’Oh shit, not this again!!!’ he wanted to run, to get away from it all…. But his body just wouldn’t move.

"I must apologize if you're not from around here, but I'm looking for a Mistress Vertti. Have you seen her recently?" ’Thank god.’ it seemed; that at least for the moment, that someone in this hellish city didn’t consider them cultists. As he breathed a small sigh of relief, tea-boy decided to speak up, “That’s unlikely,” the Japanese boy replied, glancing towards Ashton, “Our circumstances aren’t exactly the same, after all…but yeah, we could certainly help. Could you give us an idea of what your mistress looks like, Miss…?”

Thankfully, she seemed to be willing to even HELP the boys, at first…. "Yes, I figured you weren't local. I'm actually a stranger here myself." To demonstrate this, she waved her arm along the visible trinkets they could see. "My name is Aer Pacifica. I'm an adventurer who's task is currently locating Mistress Vertti. She is no one I have personally met, and she has been gone for over a week." She sighed before extending her hand to the side. "If you're new to the area, you probably won't be of much help. Though the offer is appreciated." Aer was about to walk off, but she suddenly froze in place. "Oh, right." she turned to look at the three boys. "This city is sealed off. It's surrounded by bandits and the only people allowed to go in or out are licensed adventurers and merchants." She squint her eyes. "If you were kidnapped, then you're walking around in the open now because...?" Aer closed her eyes. "I don't have time for this. But it's not safe to walk around here. You're clearly not locals, and if you don't have a passport that allows you entry, the punishment can be very harsh." The cloaked woman fixed her eyes on Aaron and reached behind her back with one arm."I'm going to take you to the authorities. What they do to you will not be pleasant, but at least you'll have a chance to prove you're not in league with the bandits."

’FUCK.’ Not only was she going to straight up deliver them to the people trying to kill them, but a crowd was beginning to gather around them. Then Ashton decided it was smart to PULL OUT HIS FUCKING PHONE. "Alright, I can see I was wrong to suspect you might be bandits." Aer declared as her eyes shot open, the smile having vanished from her face. "You're cultists!" She pulled something off of her back and held it in both of her hands. It was still covered in cloth, but at this point it was very evident it was a pole weapon of some kind. "No self respecting bandit would let you walk around with such a powerful magical device!"

Thankfully, it appeared that she may have still doubted her accusation. "Even if you're innocent, it's too dangerous for you to walk around without any sort of documentation." There was no mistaking it, she just slid her feet into a stance. "I'm not going to ask a third time, you will come with me. Now."

Then some random catgirl decided to show up and offer to buy the ‘magic item’. At this rate, they were all going to end up dead AGAIN. Fearfully, Aaron placed his hands behind his head as if he was being arrested, ”P-P-Please don’t kill us Ma’am…. W-we’re innocent! Please just take us in! Th-that item doesn’t even use magic! We didn’t even really know magic was even real until today! Just don’t kill us.” he fearfully pleaded, tears streaming down his face.

@Lucius Cypher

"Twenty seconds. That's actually... Pretty good. Most take thirty or more, assuming they don't trip and fall in the process. You're showing a lot of promise Kael! Now then, follow me, I'll show you to our water area."

That was, in fact, MUCH better than Kael was expecting.  Nonetheless, he was greatly relieved when Ashley brought him to the garrison's water reserves. Parched from all the hard work, and hot from the cumbersome set of armor, Kael greedily chugged the mug Ashley had handed him the moment it touched his hands.

”Drink up and breathe. We’ll work you hard but that doesn’t mean we want you dying out there. The next test is going to be simply lifting weights. We’ll start small, about three pounds or so, but gradually increase them.”

Spending the next several minutes refreshing himself, Kael was raring to go.  This next task seemed easy enough. "Three pound weights? No problem." he said with a smile as he rubbed his hands together.  Picking up the weights, Kael attempted to mimic the same motion Ashley had demonstrated; slow punch before pulling her fist back into a ready position. Seeing how easy the first few were, the young man increased the pace, the sooner he could get through this, the sooner he could begin the REAL training.

As he continued to crank up the pace, the slow, precise strikes that he'd started with, had devolved into a maddened flurry. By the time he had finished, Kael was actually pretty tired. It probably would've been smart to pace himself better like Ashley had said.... Regardless, he turned toward the red haired dwarf, ready for whatever was next on the list.

@Wildman13 Ren flicked blood into both of the trolls eyes
@Jangel13 CONGRATULATIONS MAN!!!!!

@Zeroth@ReusableSword

A hit. A scream. A thud. Panic.  THAT was more like it.... Subtly smirking at his success, Jason strained his vision into the darkness, trying to make out how lethal his shot was this time around.  However, an explosion behind the goblin lines stole his attention. A blossoming flame, complete with sickly purple  tinge burst forth, illuminating the area around it; even if only for a second.  The echoing roar of Rattleskull was like music to Jason's 'ears'. Ardur had chosen well.

The hairy fuck's roar wasn't one of pain, but of rage.  Though he couldn't see the massive bastard, he sure as hell could hear him sprinting forward before a bright, angry red--brighter than any of the other goblins' Smash skill flashed in the distant darkness.  Not only did this mean that Jason's comrades now knew at least one of Rattleskull's abilities, but with him now enraged, luring him into an ambush; far ahead of goblin lines, would be increadibly simple.  Without their leader, the goblins would falter, and possibly even surrender to the reincarnates.

Climbing out of his hole, Jason formed the non-'hat' part of his body into something similar to a ball, and proceeded to roll over to the bonfire area as fast as he could.  Upon arriving, he immediately used [Soil Manipulation I] to dig himself another hole (at H10) identical to the hole he had created for sniping, and once again set himself up.

Any excess mana was forcefully discharged from his body into the back of the hole as psychic type mana through use of [Telepathy II]. Consuming his second to last mana crystal, Jason waited for his target.

The moment Rattleskull came into range of [Rock Spire I], Jason was going to first use the ability to trip the Brute. Then, just before his hulking form would hit the ground, he would summon a second spire into Rattleskull's throat, hopefully delivering a swift, easy deathblow.
