Approximately 19 years have passed since the Clone Wars ended and the Empire begun. The Empire rules supreme over the entire galaxy, enforced with brutal rigidity by its stormtroopers. The Sith Lord Darth Vader himself leads the galaxy's most feared force, the 501st Legion, from system to system, crushing insurrection. Known as "Vader's Fist", the 501st dominated all resistance in its path. Such was the case, until their deployment to the Death Star. Stationed on board the Death Star, the 501st was caught in a rut, without any action or combat to face. It would be here, however, that marked their first strike against the Rebellion. To the Empire's surprise, a Death Star prison cell, led by a Jedi Knight, revolted and took over the cell. Although the 501st ultimately put the riot down, the Rebels managed to put up a fight, embarrassing the elite troops and decoying the Imperials into letting the Death Star plans slip. Disappointed, Vader took command of the 501st once more, to hunt down the Death Star plans and recover them before it was too late.

At the forefront of the 501st are the storm commandos. One such group is NightStorm. The very best of the Stormtrooper Corps, storm commandos were specially trained for the Empire's most important missions. NightStorm specializes in subduing resistance cells on key planets, and key missions, from capturing core objectives to destroying important targets. At times fighting at Vader's side, the NightStormers are the ones who carry out the Empire's most dirty work, clad in light, high-tech all-black armor based on that of Scout troopers. Hand-picked from the 501st's top troopers, the NightStormers all have some shared skills: exceptional skill in a weapon of their choice, as well as high-level training in special speeder bikes and TIE Hunters. However, each NightStormer has a unique skill, and falls in a general archetype.

The core of all militaries, Troopers are jacks of all trades: providing balanced power as individual units, yet able form an impressive presence in a group: a trait complementary to the Empire's doctrine. Excelling at close-mid range combat, the Trooper has a variety of weapons to utilize. As a primary, rank-and-file stormtroopers carry the E-11 blaster, while the more advanced E-11B is most common amongst elite Storm Commando Troopers. As well, Troopers generally carry the SE-14C select-fire blaster pistol as a secondary, an upgrade from the standard SE-14R. As a backup, Troopers generally utilize the thermal detonator.

Providing reconnaissance and intel, as well as a vanguard, the Recon NightStormer specializes in speed and stealth. This makes them ideal for quick attacks or scouting, given that they're good at both flanking the enemy and avoiding fights they don't like. Although generally weak in prolonged, open combat, Recon NightStormers are very effective in planned attacks and close-range fighting. Given their nature, Recons tend towards weapons such as the EE-3 carbine or blaster shotgun.

Offering pinpoint accuracy and long-range support, Rangers are experts at making their mark from afar. They're more or less capable of dealing damage to a single target from a safe distance, but prove to be weak when defending themselves, especially at close range. Best used to take out high-value or defensive targets while still keeping the front lines far away. Ranger NightStormers are armed with the rare Sharpshooter V sniper rifle: a high-tech rifle designed for optimal accuracy and range, albeit sacrificing stopping power and affordability.

Although they don't deal the most damage, Supports are vital in improving their allies' ability to fight. They aid teammates by healing them to keep them alive, and offering resupplies. Either way, a Support on their own is generally easy prey. Chosen from the best field medics in the army, Support NightStormers usually wield the lightweight E-11 carbine in the event of self-defense. More importantly, Supports all carry backpacks and a hip-pack for carrying medical supplies like bacta and ammunition.

With a powerful weapon and both defensive and offensive skill, Gunners are able to mow down foes, dealing plenty of damage. Usually weapons specialists with a light repeating blaster, Gunners cover lots of ground with rapid fire. This makes them especially deadly against large numbers of individually weak targets. On the downside, Gunners tend to be ponderously slow and vulnerable to side attacks. In the right circumstances they can wipe out hordes of opponents, but if caught in a bad spot they'll go down like a pile of bricks, making them easy picking for enemy snipers. On top of their proficiency with heavy weapons, Gunners are typically the ones manning E-WEB mounted guns, as well as turrets on vehicles and stations.

Tasked with absolute, permanent destruction of targets, the Demolition troops ensure nothing is left standing. Wielding either an Oppressor flamethrower, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, or portable mortar, Demolition NightStormers are able to create barricades through area denial, as well as destroy targets, leaving minimal odds for survival to anything in its impact radius. Given their skillset and loadout, Demolition NightStormers should always stick with another team member, to maximize efficiency and minimize getting caught in a poor situation.
