Dinner was great, for the most part. There was a lot of good chicken and good wine she had never tasted before. The people at her table were very nice, and she enjoyed their company…that is till a human from another table who didn’t like the fact she was different decided to pick on her. She never experienced bullying before coming to the mainland, and it had made her quite upset. Finn nearly decked the man after he purposefully ‘accidently’ dumped his food on her, and knocked her into the table causing her to hit her head. But the teachers were there to stop him before he did, instead directing them to have a duel instead to settle things. She didn’t care about that, she just wanted to leave afterwards. Finn came along as well to take her to her room.

But during that time, he helped her calm down a bit…trying to cheer her up as they walked. Which worked, and she did feel better by the time they got to her room.

Finn had opened the door for her when they got to her room. ” Thanks you.” She said as she entered her room. Her long ears perked up and eyes widened with wonder. The room was really big, and there was already a cozy fire lit. She saw her bag on the bed near the window and balcony but she didn’t move towards it. “Welcome Selena Vixen.”

Selena yipped in surprise as she heard Athena. “This will be your dorm room for the foreseeable future. There is a bathroom in the door to your right that you and your roommate may share if you do not wish to use the public baths. While sleeping in the dorm room is not strictly required, sleeping in any non sanctioned area of the school is forbidden and may result in disciplinary action.”

Finn made his way to the bathroom and motioned her to come with him. Which she did. She was shocked to see a large tub with long brass pipes that seemed to lead too and from it. She was ‘used to’ Finn’s home where they had a more humble tub and well where they would heat buckets of water with rune magic. ” Where bucket?.” asked as she looked around. Finding very soft and fluffy towels, which she immediately rubbed her cheek on.

Finn chuckled. ”It looks like it’s piped in.” He said as he reached for one of the levers. Selena turned around to see the water suddenly gush out of the lower pipe.

”What?!” She said, her eyes wide as she dropped the towel and rushed over as Finn put the rubber plug in the drain. Nearly knocking him in as she looked over his shoulder and reached out to touch the water. Eyes wide as it was already hot. ”Is there hot spring? She said as she was now leaning on Finn, essentially pinning him to the side of the tub. “But we on no…mountain.” She only knew of the hot springs in the mountains in her home.

”I don’t know how it works Selena. I assume magic.” He said as he turned his head to look up at her. Her hair instantly in his face. Which was great, as it covered his red face. ”Ill let you get settled in, there are hampers to put your clothes in, so I imagine they will clean that food off your clothes.” he said as he pushed himself…as well as her up from the edge of the tub slowly.

”Oh..” She said, quickly realizing she was basically laying on him and pulled back, quickly returning to her dropped towel to hide the fact she was now red. ”Yes, thanks you Finn. I see you to-tomorrow?”

”Of course. You get some sleep ok? Dont spend all night in the tub.” He said with a chuckle.

”I fell sleep once in tub… I learn from mistake!” she said a firm tone, and a pout on her face. Her tail flicking back and forth. He certainly liked to tease her about doing it at his home. She was used to hot springs, not a tub which got cold if you fell asleep in it.

”Just making sure!” Finn said as he moved to the door. ”Have a good night Selena.”

”Oyasuminasai” She replied, dropping the towel from her chin to her lap as she watched him walk out of the room. Sighing, she turned to look at the tub filling up before starting to get undressed.

Name: Trixie (Jemusumisu “Gem Smith”) Conary
Race: Kitsune
Age:18
Gender: Female

Appearance:

She has grown up hiding her true self, her big white ears and bushy tail. But besides that she looks the same, with long silky white hair and her teal blue eyes. She stands at only 5’2”. She always carries a messenger bag filled with extra paper and prewritten scrolls. As well as some very essential herbs and mortar and pestle *to grind herbs on the go* as well as extra enchanted bottles *so they don't break* if she finds something fascinating she must examine it later. The amount she fits in there, it would seem the bag is enchanted itself. She also has multiple potions and vials of chemicals on her belt.

When not in her new uniform she likes to wear a green bodysuit (The legging in her picture) And a coat with a leather chest plate over that. She would probably still wear a black bodysuit identical to that one under her uniform.

Class: Artificer

Personality: Trixie is happiest when she's in her ‘lab’. Trying new concoctions and seeing the results. Even a massive failure is a huge success for her, as she learned something new still. She gets overly excited over magical items she hasn’t seen before and likes to tear them apart to see how they work. But outside the lab she is still a very friendly and outgoing person…who may or may not like to ask for a lot of ‘favors’. But there are times her sassiness side does come out. Usually if you interrupt her experiments… or she has gotten to know a person very well…or if you just rub her the wrong way.

She’s very smart and clever, always soaking up new information. She always has at least two books she’s reading from at the same time. If it interests her, it will stick in her head…she can be forgetful on other things. She always strives to be the best. And can get competitive if there are others who are on her level.

Strengths:
-Creating magical crystals that store magical energy. Based on her clan’s knowledge for storing their unique mana. (a very specialized skill that other people can do, but it’s something her clan has been doing for centuries.)
-She can be a mad scientist of sorts when it comes to Alchemy, but she is very talented in it.
-Herbology kinda goes hand in hand with Alchemy, she loves testing out new herbs to see their reactions/ uses for alchemical use.
-Runes, Another part of her clan’s specialty, being able to seal magical powers into runes or other magical items.
-Magic: Her clan are the most gifted when it comes to being able to harness their magic.
-She is able to turn into a fox, However, she is only as big as a medium sized dog.
-The moon strengthens her magic, makes her spells stronger… and her fox form is stronger as well.
-She can communicate with animals.
-She has a far superior sense of smell, and hearing. She can see quite easily at night.
-She is Willing and eager to learn as much as she can.
-Clever, She is quick to understand puzzles and able to use her vast knowledge to help her in a pinch. Usually using whatever is around her to make something go boom.
-Agile, While she doesn’t have the endurance to last long, she is agile enough with her reflexes to be quick on her feet for a bit.

Weaknesses:
-Strength: She has a potion for that! Makes her as strong as three men. But the side effects make it not worth it.
-Endurance- She has a potion for this too! She is not a warrior by any means. She will happily never run again if she had to. But drinking a potion for that will make her legs like jelly.
-Easily Distracted (when it doesn’t come to Alchemy) She has a potion for that as well! Side effect is that she can't sleep for three days! Then she cannot focus for a few days after that! *meth…it's basically meth*
-Prideful: She thinks she's the best at what she does. While she is gifted, she still has alot to learn.
-Hearing/smell: Loud noises hurt her ears, and she is used to many strong smells, and often wears a mask while dealing with the strongest. They can give her severe migraines.
-Her magic is affected by the moon just like every Kitsune, so during those weeks with out a full moon her magic is not as strong. She will use crystals stored with mana that she can use.
-Rune magic: if done on the fly will take a little bit to do. So she’s vulnerable during this time.
-She is not a fighter. Never has been.

Biography:

Trixie grew up in a Kitsune village called Kako Village. Despite its name it's a small town. Kako village was the last city of the Kitsune that they held up in before they were ‘wiped out.’ Hence Kako (last). This Village is just a front really, the real home of the Kitsune is deep in the forest next to Kako. Where one could find them walking around with their Tails and ears. They use Kako Village as a way to make money to support themselves. Using their knowledge of creating moon crystals, which help them store their unique mana. To create other mana crystals for anyone else to use. As well as magical items, charms, alchemy, and enchanted weapons. If you want a high quality Item for a decent price, you go to Kako.

She was always fascinated with magic, alchemy, and magical items since she was just a little pup. Always bugging her mother and father to teach her more, or to help with any project. She was a natural when it came to making potions and herbs that were really beneficial, however she always was even more fascinated with finding strange side effects to invent new types of potions. The village became VERY aware not to accept any potions from the young pup unless they were at wits end. To be fair, her potions very often did exactly what they did. But it always included some harmless ridiculous side effects.

Trixie always wanted to explore the world and find more ingredients to experiment with. As well as other magical items to find and tinker with. So she planned on joining Hoseforn’s academy. Where they had amazing teachers and would be a great start to her journey. Around this time Tybert was banished from his village and despite him kinda turning on her a few years later, she still cared about him and took him in so he could get back on his feet. She then got the great idea to drag him along to the academy so she brought it up to him. Thankfully he decided to come.

Violet & Crystal

Crystal turned around when she felt a gentle pull on her arm to see her sister. “Vi!” She said as she gave her a hug. Afterward she pulled back and nodded while holding onto one of her hands with both of hers.. “‘Mostly…I think I had a run in with a stalker somehow…” she said softly. Looking to kazu then back to Violet. “ he started telling me a story that sounded exactly like my life… I’ve never met him before. Father said he would handle it.”

“I’m more mortified that I did that in front of everyone at this point… she said just loud enough for Violet to hear while looking down and covering her red face of embarrassment.

Violet offered her a reassuring smile, but she was rather confused. ” A stalker?” She raised a brow, her hands still gently in her sister's grasp. ” A similar story to your life? Crystal..You're practically living a storybook tale. I wouldn't be surprised if he just happened to read a book that resonated with what is happening with you. “ She offered her sister another hug as she covered her face. She pulled back, reaching for her hands and pulled them down slowly. “Dont show any emotions , you remember what Dad has always said. We are in the middle of a pack of wolves, the minute you show a sign of weakness they will attack. Keep your chin up” she put a finger under her chin and raised it slowly “ No one is here to harm you, I promise you that. You look too beautiful to hide your face.” She offered her a soft smile.

Crystal stood there and listened to her big sister. She made a really good point… she suddenly felt even more sheepish at her reasoning. Groaning slightly as her sister hugged her. Allowing her hands to be pulled down she looked up at her sister without lifting her head as she quoted father. She resisted lifting her head up at first but allowed Violet to do so. But in defiance she only kept one eye open.

“Thank you…” She said softly as a mouse. Her face is still as red as ever. ”Oh god…now i just feel silly…” she said with a sniff and fanning herself with her hand to attempt to cool herself to no avail. She tried to change the subject. “Well you look beautiful as always Vi… How was your dance…with?” She looked around for the man she danced with. She didn’t know who anyone was here.

”Darling sister, you have nothing to feel silly about. I just don’t want you skipping out on such a great event for you.” She offered her a soft smile as she changed the subject. Taking in a deep breath ” Prince Callum..” she sighed heavily ” It wasn’t much of a dance, We took two steps and headed to the wine table.” She took her sister's
arm, locking it into hers as she faced the others who were all chatting amongst themselves. ”there was one…He pulled me aside and ..Crystal I have never had such a connection with someone but …” she sighed lightly ” He seemed rather entranced in his dance with his partner that perhaps that connection I felt was merely empty. I don't have it in me to fight over a man, if It were up to me, I would simply say that if a man cannot see my worth then they are not worth my time to begin with.” there was a sense of disappointment in her voice. Truthfully Violet felt a jealous tinge hit her when she watched Roman and Mayat dance together. Unsure of why she cared so much she tried to hide the fact it bothered her. ”Doesn't matter, I am perfectly happy playing matchmaker for you. “ she smiled ”anyone of interest for you?” she scanned the ballroom.

She cocked her head to the side as she heard the clear disappointment right away. Her eyebrows peaked. Apparently she wasn’t very interested or impressed with the youngest prince, not even really dancing with him. It made a little sense, he was younger than both of them. She looked at here sister as she locked arms with her and smiled. Enjoying this moment as they now started to talk about “boys” Not just hear her talk about her encounters.

When she started talking about another man that she had a strange connection with, Crystal blinked. She seemed so intrigued with the man and she was just going to let it go. She tried to change the subject to anyone crystal was intrigued with. ”No No No. You’re not dropping that on me and suddenly switching to who interests me She said stubbornly. The fact was she only met two men here…one of whom she…might have overreacted on. Sir Mathias did interest her as well, but there were other men she always wished to meet. Though she couldn't even see the tall man amongst the sea of people

”You can't just give up on this man. At least point him out to me!” She said softly leaning close to her and standing up on her toes, as if their brains got closer she could mentally get a visual of the man while looking for him in the crowd.”Would you rather be with this man, someone who you feel a connection with… or be set up with prince Callum because father said so? Perhaps he didn’t get the memo…I've read many times boys are sometimes as dense as a plank of wood and they need a few chances before they realize.”

She looked at Violet ”Ill tell you about the man i met before the one I danced with. IF you promise me you won't give up.”

She sighed ” Well, he noticed the print on my dress. You know how I love ravens, well I had stitched some into my dress a few nights prior and he took notice. I didn’t think much of it, but we took our conversation out to the balcony and well…He was very open and honest, it was refreshing. “ she smiled lightly “ He called my scars beautiful…” her voice trailed off into a whisper.

She shrugged “ His name is Lord Ravenwood, he’s a blacksmith as well.” she gestured to him in the crowd as he had just finished his dance with Mayat “He and the lady he was dancing with appeared to be laughing a lot…” she shook her head “ I shouldn’t get my hopes up, I didn’t expect to find much here anyways so there is no point to change that. However, he did ask who our parents were…not sure why…I just was really hoping that I could find my own match before father decided what princely title would be best suited for me.”

Crystal nodded as she started to give more details. Her eyes widened as she mentioned he said her scars were beautiful. Wait… She glanced at her neck, like she thought they were very well hidden.SHE WOULDN’T As her own face turned red. Did she show her scars to this man? She looked up at Violet who had moved on to explaining more about this man.

She followed Violet’s gesture. The man was HUGE. He stood a full head and a half over everyone else. She looked back to Violet as she started saying she was hoping to find her own match. Yet was just giving up on this guy.

”VI VI” She said, astonished yet in a whisper. Her face red as a rose. ”You did not…” She glanced over shoulder to make sure father wasn’t watching. But he was still too close. So she looked back at her and pointed to her own neck and to Violets and back again. With a knowing look in her eye.

Violet saw the shock on her sister's face as she looked towards their fathers direction. She opened her eyes widder and nodded slowly before shrugging her shoulders again “ Yes..He saw..part of them, I was not going to undress myself in the middle of the ball” she whispered into her sisters ear.

What Violet said, gained a loud squeak from Crystal. As she suppressed her own surprise. Her face was crimson now ”VI!” She Whispered again. Crystal then looked back at this Roman. Blinking a few times her hands against her cheek to cool them down. Never did she ever believe Violet would do something like that. She never spoke like that. And yet here she was about to just let this bear of a man go because he laughed with another woman. ”Violet, comeon you need to at least get to know this man some more. Perhaps he is just a very outgoing and social person.”

“Perhaps..But what if I am just chasing some silly fantasy, i’ve been reading too many of your books as of late. Getting my head too far into the clouds to think something like that could even be possible for me. I simply gave up on the thought and figured father would have his way with something. It’s not what I want but it's what I've been handed in life “ her mood seemed to be more cold then normal.

Crystal sighed and looked at her sister. Arguing with her at this point would do no good. She was so stubborn at times. But she understood why she felt this way. She saw how her sister was treated because of her scars.

She looked back to the crowd of people talking during the intermission, and her eyes only hardened with determination. “If I can make one of my dreams come true.” she said softly. Squeezing her older sisters hand before saying while looking to her.[color=1e4fff] “You can most certainly do it, you’re far stronger than me.”

She knew she wasn’t going to get father with this so she decided to bring up her other interest to bring her sisters mood up again.. [color=1e4fff]“Ok, so there was a man who I met just getting in here, a Sir Mathias Larson. He is a Royal Guard for the King and Queen of Varian. “

She got even more excited and added while getting super close to her sister. “And he is apparently very close friends with Verrick!”

“Wait, so you are interested in the guard or Verrick? “ she asked slightly confused

“Well…. I guess both? But Verrick wouldn’t ever be interested in me, and it’s just that he was the inspiration for my book…It’s more of I just might get to meet him.” Crystal replied.

She side eyed her sister raising a brow “ Yet, your telling me to not give up on Roman but here you are being a hypocrite “ she smiled at her teasingly

“That’s…not, I meant…” Crystal realized her mistake and could not think of a proper response. She huffed and gave her sister a pout. Even though she knew it was a tease she felt she had to defend herself still. “Of course it would be wonderful if he was. But you know it’s just a silly little crush.”

Besides, surely with the stories she heard from her source, the ’Princess and her unorthodox Prince.’ Had to be a thing…other than in her book.

She shook her head to rid it of the thought. “ANYWAYS.” She said, giving her sister a pointed look. “Sir Mathis was a true gentleman, helping me out when I didn’t know where to go. I even helped him escape a few older ladies that were following him I guess.” She said with a smile.

“ well I am happy you're enjoying your time here, I really am. It’s nice to see you out of your room socializing, and I do hope something happens for you .. I really do” she gave her sister a squeeze on her wrist.

Crystal smiled and said, “I hope something happens for BOTH of us.”

Countess Liliane, Count Calbert & Lady Crystal

Mentions: @samreaper Kazumin @Tpartywithzombi Violet

Liliane had been watching her daughter as she had danced with the unfamiliar boy from her spot in a chair in the corner of the room. A few nobles ladies were sitting nearby the delicate woman as she had her hands folded neatly in her lap. She had told an attendant that she had been feeling dizzy and needed a seat for the remainder of the ball. After she had been given one, quite a few people asked to sit by her, eager to speak to the angelic countess.

She entertained the conversations with them with soft and short answers, her attention moving often toward both her daughters as they were on the dance floor. At first, she had been quite happy to see Crystal dancing with someone, and had only been glancing over here and there, but it had taken a downward turn. He had taken up Crystal’s personal space multiple times, causing her visible discomfort. At this point, she had tuned out the conversation with her lady friends and had put her full focus into the situation at hand. Something the boy said cleared struck fear into Crystal. Liliane stood up immediately.

Crystal quickly made her way towards her mother. Trying her best to ignore the stares and looks given her as she hurried by. Her face, hot with embarrassment and her skin prickly from the creepiness from the situation.

Had he really stalked her? He went with a story like that, that couldn’t be coincidence. But the way he got close to her by pulling their bodies together it only made it reaffirm her belief.

She honestly would have gone to her father first, but she didn’t see him. She didn’t give her mother a chance to say anything before she hugged her. Her voice muffled in the shoulder. “Mother, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have come. I’m just making a fool of myself and you and father…” She wasn’t bawling, but the tears still threaten to breach her eyelids at this point.

Liliane’s expression broke seeing her daughter distressed as she came into close proximity. She wrapped her arms around her and embraced her tightly. “Oh my little girl. You have no idea how happy I am that you decided to come. You’re doing no such thing.”She kissed her head and ran her fingers through her hair comfortingly. After a moment she gently lifted her daughter’s chin up to look her in the eye. “Can you tell me what happened?”

She took a moment to collect her thoughts, finding her self calming down a bit when her mother stroked her hair. She always loved that. When her chin was lifted so she could meet her mothers eyes she took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment as if that would force the tears back down.

She finally reopened them, “ That man I danced with… I… think he might be a stalker. I don’t know how, I just might be overreacting. But with how close he was getting… and the fact he tried telling a story that was basically the start of mine.” she sighed and took a tiny step back to look… another woman was now dancing with him, she seemed to completely enjoy his company.

She felt annoyed, hurt, angry, relieved…. All at the same time. “It was too much to be coincidental right? But I’ve never seen him before… how would he know? Am I overreacting? I don’t know but I suddenly feel like the bad guy… I mean look at that woman, she is clearly enjoying his company…”

Liliane listened to her daughter with a warm smile then advised her gently, “It is okay, no matter what the reality of this situation or any other one, to decide you are uncomfortable and you want to leave.” She followed her gaze and watched the blonde in her pink dress dance with the perpetrator. “That’s Princess Anastasia. She is… ever the friendly sort and doesn’t have a instinct that tells her to run when she should. If you recall, I believe she ended up getting herself kidnapped years ago. The poor dear.” She sighed and took Crystal’s hands. “Listen. Don’t worry about it, alright, my dear? … As for him being a stalker, your father and I will find everything out that we need to and go from there.”

“I can’t just go back out there… I don’t know who I bumped into but everyone will stare.” Crystal said softly… looking at the other lords and ladies not dancing and we’re looking at her. “Continue to stare.” She added. She started to wring her own wrists again. “I shouldn’t have come… this never would have happened if I didn't come.”

She looked over to see Charlotte having a wonderful time with Sir Mathias, and finally spotting her sister dancing with another Lord. Looking lovely as always. “I should just go… I don’t want to embarrass You or Violet. Not when she can actually find someone…”

“You can! Would the heroines in your stories give up?”Liliane asked her, brushing hair behind her ear, “You’ve been in your room for so long, Crystal. This is your moment to start your real story.” She had noted to herself to chastise her later for coming on her own instead of with them, but she wanted to see her daughter have fun before doing any reprimanding yet tonight. Crystal was here and she looked so beautiful that it had moved Liliane to tears when she had seen her come in. She deserved to dance with lovely men and enjoy fine cuisine with the rest of the young ladies of Caesonia tonight.

The countess glanced at Charlotte once she saw her daughter look in the direction and then looked down at Crystal again, “Lady Vikena’s had an arduous night. Before you arrived, her father embarrassed the Sultan of the Alidasht Kingdom and she made an attempt to take the blame. Alas, the Sultan was merciful on the two of them. I think it would be beneficial for the both of you to catch up. You both require the commiserations of a friend tonight.”

Crystal closed her eyes and sighed. Her stories weren't the same, just some lonely girl dreams written on paper. She didn’t say anything though as her mother continued. She looked back to Charlotte.

Her mother went on to explain that Charlotte had a horrible night in her own right. Yet there she was, enjoying a dance… no one is looking at her, judging. She smiled faintly, maybe she was being a bit…childish in a sense. She took a deep breath and looked to her mom a bit sheepishly. “I feel so foolish… thank you.” She said softly allowing her head to fall into the crook of her mothers neck.

“Don’t feel foolish. You have every right to be upset. I am upset too.Lilianne told her and gave her a firm hug. “I cannot bear to see someone scaring you like this… But it will be taken care of. ” As the dances started to come to their conclusion, the two women soon saw Count Calbert striding toward them through the crowd.

Liliane bit her lip as he stopped before them and glanced down at Crystal. His brows furrowed,
“Why is she despairing?”He asked as he moved to rub his daughter’s back. He had caught a glimpse of Crystal dancing with some blonde man while he had been speaking with Lorenzo, but he had not recognized him. “Was it that nobody she was dancing with? Did he hurt her?”

“Crystal received the impression that a young man has been stalking her.”The countess told her husband softly, her tone full of concern. “He knew all about her life and even went as far as to invade her personal space. “ There was a twinge of anger too now.

“What!”Count Calbert’s voice raised exponentially, those nearby looking over in alarm. He turned around, his eyes searching the crowd until they locked on Kazumin. There he was. Dancing with the princess as if he had not just hurt his baby. If looks could kill, the boy with the cowlick would have instantly collapsed to the floor. He snapped his fingers without turning around as a servant nervously came to his side. “Find out the identity of that man.”He hissed under his breath. Calbert weighed his options carefully before deciding to take some inspiration from the Sultan, “...And invite him to brunch tomorrow.” He then whispered to the servant for several moments.

Liliane touched her husband’s shoulder. “My love. This could be a misunderstanding. Maybe we should find out all the information before-”

“I simply want to have a discussion with the boy..”Calbert turned to look at her, his eyes flashing, “Just…a little chat. ” Fury was apparent in his gaze, but he kept his expression stoic. With clenched fists, he continued explaining, clarifying his sentiment, “I would like to speak to him and find out his intentions for myself. He can clear up any misunderstandings to me. Regardless, I have full faith in Crystal’s intuition. If she says that man is a menace, then so he is. I will make sure he never even glances at her ever again.”

Crystal raised her head as her father touched her back. Looking up to him. She couldn’t even answer when her mother spoke up for her. All she managed was a shake of her head when he asked if he hurt her.

She stood there and watched as her father grew angrier by the moment, instantly ordering a servant to find out his name and wanting to ‘just talk to him.’ She began to worry slightly. She never saw him this angry before. While she honestly believed that Kazu was stalking her. She worried that her father would take things a bit too far. From stories she read about fathers having no issues ‘taking care of things’ when it came to protecting their families. She didn’t want anyone to die…not that her father would ever do that.

“Father…” She said softly, moving from her mother and wrapping an arm around his and leaning her head against his shoulder. Looking at Kazu,“Can we just leave it be? I don’t want to make it any worse than it is already…” She said looking up to him “I…honestly never had a stalker..that I know of before… I could be wrong…” She gripped his hand in hers, if anyone was hurt because of her she couldn’t bear it… it would be horrible. Even if it was a creepy stalker…

Calbert looked down at his daughter, his expression softening. He had always said she was too pure for the world…But that was why he was here to protect her. He would do anything to make sure her and Violet had everything he did not. Every time the world dared to threaten to take from them, he would take from the world first. He smiled down at her and gave her a loving hug. ”I am sorry, sweetpea. I must have frightened you. Your safety means everything to me and I am afraid I cannot just leave it be. I will simply discuss the matter with him to find out the truth. “ He let go of her but stayed at her side. ”If he is stalking you, we have no idea what he may dare do next. You understand this right, dear?

Liliane moved to her side and added in a kind tone, ”And Crystal, he may be bothering other girls, maybe even your sister, for all we know. It is important we get enforcement involved if he is following around young women.”

Crystal groaned inwardly as her father released her from his hug. She didn’t say anything but gripped her hands in her lap. She didn’t want to say she understood. She looked away and twisted her hands again against each other. She then looked up at her mother, she added onto fathers 'argument’ so to say… she lowered her head and simply nodded. ”O-ok… Just don’t…hurt him..please.” She muttered under breath.

”Your father would never hurt anyone, sweetheart.”Liliane assured her then glanced at her husband. ”Oh, Calbert. There’s something we must discuss about Violet.”

His eyebrow raised. With a sigh, he told Crystal, ” Alright then. Crystal dear, run along but stay within sight. Do not leave the ballroom. Oh, and stay away from that vulture of a man tonight. I’ll be keeping an eye on him.”

Crystal & Matthias

& Charlotte

Crystal tensed up when a man suddenly started speaking to her, despite his attempt to not scare her. Her cheeks glaringly red on her white skin as she looked up at him. He introduced himself, but she did not recognize the last name. Of course she didn’t know the names of every noble in the kingdom so this is not a surprise.

She looked over to where he glanced to see two older lady’s that seemed quite annoyed. He continued, and her eyebrows raised….He needed HER help? Apparently he needed an excuse to get away from them. She sighed softly as she wrung her own hands together.

”I-I… she stared. Her eyes fluttered to him and everywhere else as she tried to work up the courage to speak more. That is until she saw her father AND mother looking at her. Just the jumpstart she needed. Her face somehow obtained yet another shade of red.

”I am C-Crystal Damien… She curtsied to him. Looking up into his eyes full of desperation. ”I suppose I can help you escape. I do understand that predicament quite well.” She said with a very soft giggle that died halfway through… realizing it was only an inside joke. As long as she can avoid her parents' anger she would certainly go anywhere but stand there any longer.

His attempts at being gentle fell short as Lady Damien introduced herself with a shaky voice. He could tell that she was not a big fan of social gatherings, much like himself. Perhaps he should have been more gentle with his introduction and not dumped his current problem on her- or maybe she was a very skittish person. Thankfully she had seen the source of his own desperation as she agreed to help him. He smiled again, nodding slightly as he offered his arm to her.

"I am forever grateful for your help, Lady Damien." Mathias looked down at her, a welcoming smile ever-present on his lips. "And I deeply apologize to you for startling you once again, my lady. That wasn't my intention." He bowed his head again along with his apology.

She smiled a little when he thanked her for helping him, but when he apologized she waved her hands in front of her tightly as she realized she made him feel guilty somehow. ”Please, you don't have to apologize…I just…” She said starting to get nervous again. She turned as an indicator she was ready to follow him and talk at the same time. ”This…this is my time here so I am not use to…” She used one hand to generally wave towards everything. ”All this…” She looked up to him and smiled sheepishly. He must think she would be strange to never come to one of these before.

She was like an awkward little cute duckling, and it almost made Mathias want to protect the little duckling and bring her under his wing. When she gave the signal that she was ready, Mathias gave her a slight bow again and began to lead them towards one of the many food tables, leaving behind the two older ladies that had been glaring holes into the back of his head.

"You have no need to worry; I am in a similar situation, Lady Damien." Mathias confessed, looking around them for a second. Ever since Karla's passing, Mathias had devoted himself to his work and son that he had no time for any sort of soirees of any type. This had been the first time in almost fours years that he was back on the nobility scene- and he was still quite nervous. "It feels like a fairy tale, does it not? We have our own grand ballrooms back in Varian, but this is so different." He looked up again, almost mesmerized by the grand chandelier that decorated the ceiling of the ballroom.

She smiled politely, saying in her head ”Oh did your parents also lock you up in their castle all your life?” But she appreciated the effort. But she did look up at him excitedly, her eyes wide like a child almost when he did mention how it was like a fairy tale and that he was from Varian. ”It does! I’ve always heard how grand the King makes these events. I’ve always wanted to see it since I was a child!” She stopped walking suddenly and couldn’t contain herself. ”I- I never met anyone from the kingdom of Varian, I’ve always wanted to see it.” Her mind suddenly went to one of the main reasons she wanted to go. Princess Beatrice and her famous Bodyguard.

Her face grew red once again. ”I know this must sound strange…but do you know the Princess and her Bodyguard very well? Is it true that he threw a duke out a window? That he speaks to the royal family candidly or That he lives in the forest despite having a room in the castle?”

She caught herself and pulled her hands into her chest and looked down embarrassed, ”Forgive me I get too excited at times.”
Mathias was caught off guard by Lady Damien's sudden enthusiasm when he mentioned he was from Varian. It was refreshing to see such curiosity about his home that he couldn't help but smile again, this time more honest and relaxed. It looked like she was also somewhat informed about Princess Beatrice and Verrick, something that surprised the knight.

"There is nothing to apologize, my lady. Queen and King Camille do throw some of the grandest balls in all of Varian," He paused to look away from her to the wall around him. "and if I must say, a lot grander than the Caesonian ball." Varian was more liberal, from what he had seen and heard so far, and he knew sometimes that balls could get out of control. "I do know them, both of our families work together in the palace. We are both quite close, in fact." Verrick had become one of his closest friends over the past few years. They often trained together and Sir Oliver would invite Verrick and his father over for dinners from time to time. Lukas loved Verrick as well, always playing with his bow and trying to mimic how he shot.

"I could introduce you to Princess Beatrice and Verrick if you would like, Lady Damien." Mathias offered, "And if you are ever in Varian, I would be delighted to host your stay." They were close to the food tables now, he could spot Lady Vikena there too.

She smiled warmly when he didn't mind her questioning, feeling a bit more comfortable now. She listened to him and imagined something even grander than this place. It was hard to, but somehow her mind did it. Her smile opened even more when she heard they happened to work together. And that they were quite close!

She could hardly contain her excitement and smile, putting her hands to mouth as if the act could contain it even a bit. Without thinking she reached and grabbed his hand “Are you serious?!” I would love to meet them! Thank you!” She hesitated and looked down at feeling the warmth of his hand through her silk gloves. Pulling back red as a tomato. She tried to push past it by forcing her to continue the conversation.

”I am very honored you would do such a thing for me, as well as offer your home for me to stay…” her smile weakened slightly, if she was ever healthy enough to make such a long journey….or if her parents didn’t literally lock her up in her tower after this stunt.

”I would really love to see it someday. I never really been out farther than my fathers lands. Only to the capitol really ....once or twice in my life.” She said as she absently reached up with her hand and played with her pendent again with her thumb and forefinger.
She switched topics again, realizing how rude she was getting all excited to meet another man.

”S-s-s- you mentioned you worked together with Verrick’s family at the castle, Are you an Advisor?” She assumed as she heard Duke O’Hare was the queen's advisor in her research that if Sir Verrick and Sir Mathias were close due to their parents it would make sense if he followed in his father’s footsteps.

A bit surprised, Mathias tried not to make much of the lady's sudden outburst of energy as she grabbed his hand. He understood she was excited and did not wish to squash that fire in her. "No need to worry, my offer will stand until you are able to visit Varian." He assured her. "No, my fa- Sir Oliver is captain of the Royal Guard but we all work closely together to ensure everything runs smoothly. I'm just a knight serving the Royal Guard." Although he was aiming for a high position, and the role of advisor looked tempting he doubted it would leave much free time in the end. He couldn't do that to Lukas.

Quietly, one of the many servants walked up to them with a bowl. He motioned them to take one of the many pieces of paper from it. Mathias compiled while Lady Damien did so just after him. Sir Oliver had given him a brief summary of the many traditions in Caseonian balls, and this was one of many. He thanked the man, giving him a slight nod before looking over to Lady Damien. "I suppose we don't have the same number, Lady Damien." He unfolded the paper to reveal his number, letting Crystal take a quick look at it.

"I suppose this is where I depart," Mathias turned to face her. "Thank you, again, for saving me from my little predicament. If- " He hesitated for a second before he spoke again. "Lady Damien, would you do me the honor of dancing with me after the first dance? "

While Crystal looked at his piece of paper, she was a little sad they were not paired for a dance. But he continued, thanking her for helping, but then suddenly asked her for a dance. She smiled up at him and placed her hands together in her lap. ” I would love to thank you Sir Larson, I already cannot wait.” She gave him a curtsy as he left, feeling a slight flutter in her heart. Someone just asked HER to dance with them. She really wished she could tell Charlotte.

Crystal then watched Mathias go up to the front and followed suit just a little after. Coming to a stop in her spot among the Ladies of the court. She looked again to see either him or Charlotte, and was surprised to see him standing in front from her best friend.”Charlotte!” She said with a bright smile. Suddenly running over to her and not giving her a moment to reply she nearly knocked the poor girl over when she didn’t slow down to give her a hug. She then pulled back ”Surprise!” She said with a very happy giggle.

Just as Charlotte had been stepping up to meet her partner, a force basically charged into her. She stumbled in surprise but then wrapped her arms back around her best friend once she caught her footing. The timing was a little off and she knew it would most likely be frowned upon for Crystal to interrupt a royal event, but it mattered not to her. Though she was not sure if that was due to the fact she had underestimated just how much of a lightweight she was. She had overdone the wine just a little. She greeted the enthusiastic girl with a genuine smile, ”Hi! I’m so happy to see you Crystal!”
”Me too! It's been so long! I really missed you!” She wanted to say more but she then noticed a glare from one of the ladies next to them. Looking around to see even more people staring at them she turned bright red with embarrassment. “ I-I’m sorry.” She said before pulling Charlotte into an embrace again. ”I have so much to tell you.”

Charlotte glanced around as well. They were holding up the event. ”Me too… After this dancing is finished, let’s meet up and chat. I’d love to hear it all.” She told her softly then glanced in the direction of Matthias. She squeezed her Crystal’s hands and smiled encouragingly, ”Go make someone swoon tonight, okay?” Letting go, she moved over to face Matthias again, giving him a curtsy in greeting.

Mathias blinked mid bow as air blew against his face from the speed Lady Damien had rushed to embrace Lady Vikena. He watched them as the corners of his lips tugged upwards as they greeted each other. Somehow Mathias found Lady Damien's impulsive nature quite charming- whimsical even. When the goodbyes were done, he gave Lady Damien a slight bow as she left before turning to his dance partner, Lady Vikena.

"I'm Sir Mathias Larsen; it is an honor to share the first dance with you, my lady." Once more, Mathias bowed- more profound this time as to make up for the first interrupted bow.

Breath….

Crystal took a long breath as she tried to calm her nerves with her back to the cold stone of the walls just outside the grand ballroom in the hall. Her right hand against her chest and clutching the emerald pendant she wore and rubbing it between her thumb and forefinger. The pendent did not go well with her sparky dress, but she didn't care she wore it for comfort. She always wanted this, she was willing to go at odds against her parents wishes, to have them be furious with her. Just to live her life. Her eyes closed tight, trying to ignore the servant who was staring at her slightly confused. As he was about to open the doors to the ballroom for her and announce her.

Why… Why is she so scared?! Now that she was just right outside of her dream? No longer was it stuck in her mind, or on paper. It was only just beyond these massive ornate oak doors. But the thought of all of them staring at her suddenly made her frightened. After a moment of fighting her feelings she finally pushed herself up straight and with a face as red as a rose she looked at the servant and sheepishly asked…. C-could you please not announce me? I don’t think I could handle it.

The servant tilted his head and gave her an odd look, which she swore only made her feel like her face turned even more crimson. But he only smiled and bowed gracefully. He then turned to open the doors. Despite her wishes…the doors announced a new come quite on their own. She couldn't believe how loud it was as it was pulled open.

As soon as she had enough room she smiled at the servant in thanks before slipping through. The change was so intense it felt like she stepped quite literally into another world, the one from her dreams. She felt her fear melt away as her eyes were filled with wonder as she looked up to the ceiling to see multiple chandeliers glistening with the candle’s that were lit within them. She then looked around both of her hands close to her chest. So many fantastic outfits adorned both the Lords and Ladies. Large tables of food and wine. The music loud enough to overwhelm you but soft enough to allow friendly conversations.

Her eyes were drawn to the Alidasht party next. She had never met anyone from there, of course. But their clothes were so exotic, their dark skin mesmerizing. She was shocked to see they even brought animals with them! She was amazed that there was a full grown tiger in the room and it was just sitting there! Tamed!

She was about to look for her parents, to make sure she hid from them as much as she could. She also looked for her sister, to surprise her, she didn’t believe her when she said she would come no matter what. She had made bold claims before and didn’t go through with them. She also wanted to surprise Charlotte. To see the look on her face when she realized what was happening. The thoughts of seeing both of their reactions put a warm smile on her lips.

Suddenly that smile vanished as the doors behind her were slammed shut. Causing a loud *Boom* that scared her so much she jumped and twirled around. Once her mind caught up to what happened she stood there for a moment, her left hand covering her mouth as she slowly turned around. Anxiety surged through her as she grew red once again. Hoping,Wishing,Praying that it would just go unnoticed by the other nobles…her heart sank when she saw many close by looking at her.

She didn’t know what to do… She stood there frozen as her hand moved from her mouth to ear, tracing a finger against her skin to slip some of her hair behind her ear before lowering it and gripping her other hand to start to wring them together nervously. Lowering her head a bit to somehow in vain, escape the stares of the nobles. Her own eyes racing back and forth to find some safe haven, surely her parents will look over soon and see her. However, seeing the balcony it would be in vain…her legs were still frozen. She couldn’t move an inch.
