So, I would like to start off by saying how amazed I am by the sheer amount of interest this RP has generated. I honestly didn't think it would take off like this when I first started it. I envisaged a small group of 4-5 players and that was it.
To see so many submitted characters and people showing interest has been truly humbling.

This has however left me in a bit of a trickier situation. I have already decided that I am going to be expanding the number of players I accept, but I don't think there is going to be room for everyone, especially if everyone on the IC does end up making a character. Which sadly, does mean that some people will be disappointed.

Before I move on, I want to say that this is no strict guideline in to what gets accepted and what doesn't. Just because one person gets accepted and another doesn't, isn't me implicitly saying that their character is better than yours. Alot of factors make up my reason for acceptance that goes beyond just the character sheet. I am looking for other factors, and as a result have been diving through peoples history on the Guild, if they have one. Again, being new to the site, doesn't mean I won't say no, It is just a factor.

I do also want to point out as a reminder, that the pace of this RP will be alot slower than most. We will be working in cycles of two weeks, possibly slower if life starts to get hectic for everyone. So if you are used to posting every other day, or every week, this may not be suitable for you. I just thought it bared reminding given how it was only a small part of the original IC.

Given that we are still waiting on possible another three or four submissions, I am not going to declare every slot yet. so even if you aren't in this post, It doesn't mean that you won't be accepted. It just means that you haven't been accepted yet. Closer towards the end of the week, I will post again with an updated acceptance list.

Signature Spells:

• Protective Barrier - Carlisle is adept at creating magical barriers to protect himself and his friends if need be. He can create barriers of varying shapes and sizes depending on his need. He does however, have to focus and concentrate to maintain the barrier. The stronger and bigger the barrier the more concentration it takes.
• Dispel Magic - Being a Abjurer, Carlisle is talented at removing magical effects off items and people. How long it takes, and the side effects for doing so, depend entirely on the strength of the magic used to create it.
• Counterspell - The classic spell for frustrating mages, If Carlisle can react in time he can seemingly counter any spell and nullify its effects. It all boils down to if can create enough energy to counter his opponents spells, and being a warlock... Not as easy as it sounds.

Personality: Carlisle is many things. An Oxymoron would be a good place to start. His personality is extremely fluid and it can be hard to predict how he will react to a given situation, since given the same scenario twice, he would react to them differently both times.

He isn’t an evil person or nasty person, but if caught at the wrong moment, can react in ways that he doesn’t truly mean to act. As such, being friends with Carlisle can be extremely trying. Dropping out of college was a major blow to his confidence and as a result, Carlisle can sometimes require reassurance from others. Also being in Tanner while his peers were in College, meant that he has been a little more reclusive than he was back in high school.

History/Bio: The Aston family is one of the three families in Tanner that founded the original coven. As such the family name has always commanded alot of respect. Such a shame that Carlisle can’t quite live upto it. Being the first in the bloodline to be ranked as a Warlock. Just to add a little more insult to the wound of his family name, he began to show proficiency in abjuration magic, rather than one of the more ‘useful’ schools of magic.

Suffice to say, the result of his magical upbringing had a knock on effect to his confidence, and going to college was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter for Carlisle. However, he couldn’t quite keep up with the demands of college life, and in a strange way became home sick of his small town home. He ended up dropping out in his first year, once again to the disappointment of his parents.

So instead of going to college, Carlisle ended up working for the coven full time. He became the groups defacto administrator, a roll which his parents intend for him to keep, For if he can’t be a powerful witch, he might as well become part of the furniture.

Welcome to the town of Tanner, set in the tall trees of Washington State. The small town is to the outside world, a quiet place of nothingness. However, hidden in the American gothic homes, hedgerows and winding streets, is a community in hiding. For you see: Tanner is home to a Witches coven.

Even in these modern times, Witches and supernatural beings creep in the shadows, doing their best to blend in and avoiding suspicion. Things never seem to be that easy however, as beyond the veil lie many creatures who wish to feast on mortals or to subdue them. So, the witches of Tanner stand guard and protect the town from those who wish it harm.

Our story follows the journey of the current cohort of witches at the Tanner coven. Returning fresh from college after several years away. Their parents have all decided to retire from the coven, and instead allow the younger generation to take over. For better or for worse.

Witches and Warlocks
The Tanner coven is made up of both witches and warlocks. The distinction between the two is mostly down to ability level. Witches are stronger while Warlocks tend to be lacking in magical power. It is possible to change from one to another however, and there isn't an official guide as to how strong you have to be to be classed as either. It is generally a community decision within the coven as to where you are placed.

Magical abilities
Magic takes up alot of forms and to list them all would be exhaustive. Every spell you do falls into one of the eight schools of magic: abjuration, alteration (Transmutation) , conjuration, divination, enchantment, illusion, invocation (Destructive/elemental spells) , and necromancy. Warlocks tend to focus on a single school of magic, where as witches tend to be able to specialise in more than one class.

Generally speaking, this is going to be a slower paced RP, designed for people who want to write, but might not be able to write and post within rapid deadlines. Deadlines will be around every two weeks, though once a group has gotten together, we can certainly discuss it in more detail.

Also, I want to be able to have a small group for this RP. I notice the larger the RP gets, the harder it is to try and keep everything going. I am not going to put a hard limit on the number of players, but I may switch it to closed suddenly when I feel we have enough characters and writers.

Post length will of course differ, but on average the minimum will be 2 paragraphs, but my DMs are always open if you are struggling :)

CS is below, Feel free to use it, or if you have something more aesthetically pleasing you would like to use then by all means feel free. As long as you have fun making your character, that is all that matters!
