And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

You know, next time you go breaking down my things, you should probably mention me. There was no guarantee I would have read your post, so worst case scenario I would have missed it. Luckily not this time
Welcome to the guild @Tamani!

I don't really prowl the Free section, but I think you might be better off checking the 1x1 area for roleplays that match your interests. It might be that my image of Free is not exactly accurate though, so don't write it off yet. It's just a hunch I've got. Especially since if mature romance scenes are of interest to you, 1x1 is the only place here that can cater to those as of now.
I should be able to get a post in tomorrow.
Welcome to the guild, @Jasmine14!
The first night in Greenest is nearing it's climax. I have arranged with Harbinger for the duel to take place on Tuesday when he has the time to spare for a collab post detailing the fight they will have, so at that point I will need the definitive list of all buffs that may or may not have been casted of champion of Greenest prior to the fight.

As for the rest of you, feel free to throw in your own two cents on the situation and terms that have been laid out for the duel. But rest assured that we will know who was victorious in the end on Tuesday.

And what I mean by the definite list, by the way, is that if I don't have a list I can safely refer to (so no theorising included, only the raw buffs he has), it will be assumed that he has only the Guidance cantrip active on him.
The defenders seemed to have reached a conclusion, the man known as Ashkar Brannor was to stand as the champion of the town against the invading force's half-dragon. The heroes huddled together, wanting to share what wisdom and magical help they could, preparing their fellow soldier to their march against the evil that stood just beyond the keep walls. The paladin's request for stronger armour was seen to, as the castellan managed to procure a splint mail that fit the big man, as well as had Sergeant Longwater resign his blade and shield to his use. "You better not do anything that would bring harm to my dearest", the sergeant shared as he handed over his equipment, these words meant for the entire group. The governor nodded behind him. For now, they would have to play by the opposition's rules.

The group was led outside through the old tunnel below the keep, the administration allowing a few combat medics to join the entourage already consisting of the heroes that had arrived only this night. The few spells that the group could muster to aid their champion were placed upon him during this walk so that they would not have expired by the time they stood against the half-dragon. As they approached, the half-dragon ordered them to stop before getting too close and requested the named champion to step forth, others to stay behind.

With Brannor and him standing there, a few paces apart, the half-dragon broke the silence that had fallen with the tension hanging in the air: "Greetings, champion of Greenest. My name is Langderosa Cyanwrath. This will be simple: No interference by the outsiders, or the prisoners die. Fight with me to the end, and they are released. Run, and you and they die. Now, what should I call you, other than champion?"

The paladin's answer was stern as they always were, and there was but two things he wanted changed. First was to duel only to the submission of the other side, while the other regarding the early release of the prisoners was promptly denied.

"I stand before the walls of your keep. Had I not my trump card, I might have been shot dead already. No, they are released once the duel concludes. As for fighting to the submission, that I may accept. The first to fall will have lost." With the 'pleasantries' out of the way, kobolds brought out a zweihänder and Langderosa marched to pick it into his talons. "Approach, champion Brannor, and we may begin!"

Dyn made another approving nod gesture in the direction of Nemiea as she took to handling the kobold. It was probably for the best to not let the new blood dictate how the whole group would be viewed, especially if it was something he, the great Dyn'yer'zhead, wanted to do on his own. What the Beholder did not appreciate was someone talking back at him, and he was sure to strike back with his own verbal blade: "I simply trust it to be fair for them to be prepared for what is to come, and since I know you lot, you wouldn't be able to resist. I believe this to be the end of this argument, yes?"

As luck would have it, nobody seemed to be interested in destroying Dyn's ruse, as even Jill herself neglected to mention her real status as the captain of this band of misfits. So, for the time being, the Beholder could enjoy the respect he thought he well deserved. After the brief introductions, the merfolk lady began escorting them around their city, Dyn doing his best to memorise where the locations he would need to visit were. The bar was obviously where they would meet afterwards, but marketplaces were of special interest to him.

"Hmmmm, drove off the marid that protected this place?" Dyn did his best to whisper to the captain. It didn't sound good and he sure as hell would not be the one to tell the purpose of their arrival to the merfolk now that it had come to light who the one that they were hunting was and how the wolf thing had apparently sacked this place before. No wonder Lucian did not like the symbol. On the other hand, having taken the position of their leader, he would need to say something and lying to a whole city might not be advisable. And it did seem as if she understood they had been roped into this without real knowledge.

In the end, Dyn decided to share the partial truth: "We came looking for supplies and further knowledge of the area. The success of our task depends on that..." Glancing at the frozen wolf head on Jill's neck, he added a little bit more: "But I am not sure what our elemental speaking sorceress has actually promised to the creature."
Theodore smirked behind his mask as Katia dropped behind the nervous gnome. She was as playful as ever, even in times like these. In a way, it both annoyed and fascinated the templar. She didn't give the situation the gravity a war much like this would need, but in return she kept the spirits of others flying high. Every group needed someone to remind others that it isn't all gloom and doom out there, even if Theodore himself was not too fond of such carelessness.

Getting the gnome to finally open up about the mystical Green Man both provided a sense of relief and understanding, as well as increased bewilderment. It didn't seem like staying on subject was Birbin's strong suit, so Theodore was quick to ask additional questions in hopes of getting their little tour guide to answer more thoroughly: "Magic... dull, heavy armour... and the magic is unlike what you use? They might be a Paladin for all I know... Do they carry some distinct emblem with them? Have you seen them channel magic through their weapon?" If either of these was a yes, it was very likely that the green man would be a holy warrior of some sort.

Then it came the part where the gnome shared what he knew of resupplying here. "I think that's a no to the javelins Thea, but at least the potion needs will be met", he mentioned to the Paladin by his side after Birbin had given an incomplete answer to her question. It didn't take long after that for them to arrive to the door of the inn this strange fellow seemed to reside in, Theodore caring little for names of establishments like that, and they entered into the common room.

It was evident that there was still life here. The fire was crackling, and it wouldn't be doing so as lively as it was if there was nobody to keep it going, especially assuming Birbin had not done it, having been a little preoccupied with running away from the shadows they had finally dispatched. Yet there was no soul in sight. Bizarre. The templar could not help but feel a little uneasy as he called out into the room: "Hello? Anyone here?" His fingers nervously fidgeted around the pommel of his shortsword, reminding the Monster Slayer that his weapons were well within reach.

@Zverda - Theodore talks to Thea
@The Harbinger of Ferocity
Grug stared at Elise, mortified at her dismissal of his abilities. Sure she believed him, or so she claimed, but she also refused to acknowledge anything useful coming out of it. The old orc retorted: "Unlike many other oracles, I do not experience visions. I see the future pure, although with how many futures there are it isn't always easy to tell which is the one that will happen. So what I see needs no further consultation... but in exchange, I cannot really tell about the smaller, more insignificant things." He grabbed his cane and rose up from his chair, a bit less peeved about her remark now that he had had the chance to share a piece of his mind.

What remained of his foul mood was quickly eradicated by Scarlett and Fion showing their appreciation for his service, coaxing him to move on with what would come next. "But since we are to make our journey quickly and my legs have never been as good as other folk's, I need to get an animal to pull my cart. And set things in order in here..." He wondered where he could get a good animal in such a short time, as well as how long it would take for him to pack up the things from the shelves.

@Silvan Haven@Lyla
Theodore was slightly frustrated by Thea's retort, but kept his mouth shut about it. Arguing was the last thing this unit needed right now, but he still found it odd she didn't realise what he was doing was trying to avoid the same thing happening to them. If one only noticed the enemy by the point they had surrounded you, nothing good would come of it.

What irritation had taken hold was quick to leave as he registered what the gnome had said to Wick. It didn't quite make him smile, but he had to admit that it was funny. Even her companions considered her speech pattern somewhat odd, but the way the gnome had just said "but that's okay as you aren't from here" was the funniest thing about it. However, there were more pressing things to hear from the gnome so Theodore let the funny remark be.

Cesar asked a good question, the answer to which Theodore awaited eagerly as the wizard caught his breath. His answer had some bizarre parts to it, like the box in the inn clearing itself out, but he had heard of stranger things that turned out to be true in his lifetime. But suddenly the many gestures of the small man stopped as he got visibly distraught over something. That something turning out to be the absence of Katia, their tabaxi monk.

Theodore shook his head and reassured the little fellow: "She does things like that. Keeps herself free or whatever the whole shebang was. Even if she isn't just skulking out of view somewhere nearby, she'll find her way back to us. In that way, she's just like her animal brethren." He dared hop that would get them on the move again.
