Colorado, in a mountainous lake-side retreat.

Red Arrow Lake

Rumor has it that the lake is cursed because two kids died somewhere near or in it. But really, it could be cursed because Red Arrow used to be an Indian reservation! Rumors are just rumors. Chill.

• The Blob - A giant, striped, inflated blob floats on the Western shore of Red Arrow Lake. There is a wooden staircase that goes up about twenty feet to dive off of and onto the multicolored inflatable. Campers often spend their summer days and nights launching their unluckiest (or luckiest, depending on outlook) friend as high into the sky as they can.
• The Cave - Hidden, on the eastern side of the shore. No one knows much about it.
• Isle of Man - There is a man-made island built into the middle of the lake. This “island” is actually more of a floating deck than a legitimate piece of land, but it serves it’s purpose. The Isle is located far enough from the shore that the visibility of what goes on on the Isle is pretty minimal - campers (and counselors) sometimes take advantage of this little slice of privacy to do… things.

The Rec Deck

This recreation room is in various states of upgrading, as the camp has recently come under new management. Currently, it houses a foosball table, a jukebox that has been modified to play everything free of charge, an old Harley Davidson pinball machine, and brand new air hockey table. The free jukebox has a catch, that being that the CD deck has been packed full with dadcore music, you know the type: Boston, Rush, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and many more. The Rec Deck is named for the screened in deck that extends over a heavily wooded gorge adjacent to the structure. The rec room itself is the only place in the whole camp with internet connection, we’re talking torturously slow wifi, though. Say goodbye to any Netflix and chill dreams you might have had, kiddos. What the rec room does have, however, is a box television with both a Nintendo 64 and an Xbox - so, your options are pretty much Mario Kart or Halo. Pick your poison.

Hiker’s Peak

This location is accessible by one of two ways: the brave way, and the hippie way. The brave way is to scale the heights of the sheer rock face using your free-form rock climbing skills. Or, if your skills aren’t so polished, you can climb with the assistance of safety harnesses and bungee cords - campers always need to wear these, as hurt children and lawsuits are both undesirables. As for the hippie way, well, this is the safer of the two options. Hiker’s peak can, in fact, be hiked to by a multitude of scenic and perfectly harmless trailways.

The Pit

There is a large, dug-out pit central to all of the cabins. The Pit is eternally blazing on the weekends, as there are bonfire shenanigans nearly every Friday and Saturday night. Friday is ghost story night. Saturday is all about the s’mores. Is an open fire this big even legal? Who cares! Let it be known that this is not the only fire pit in the camp, each cabin has there own small, no, normal-sized fire pit. When the nights grow dark and only the moon and the Pit light up the camp, things can happen in the woods.

The Cabins

Cabins? Hardly. These are closer to barracks — there are only two of them, for fuck’s sake. A girl’s cabin, and a boy’s cabin. It was easier that way, and the reality is that this camp was kind of rushed. The cabins are basically long, wide hallways, with bunk beds on either side. Each bed gets a trunk. Put your shit in the trunk, sleep in the beds. Pillows suck? You sucks. Deal with it. Should have brought one from home, dude.

Blankets too thin? You’re too thin. Eat a few more s’mores, maybe you won’t be so chilly.

Each cabin has two buildings behind them — one is a bathroom. The other is a communal shower. No, you can’t shower by yourself, suck it. No, there aren’t any bathtubs.

The Boathouse

What good is having a camp on a lake without a boathouse? The answer is ‘no good’ but, don’t worry, Red Arrow has one! The boathouse is equipped with a few old canoes, twelve double kayaks, and six single kayaks. There are also two paddle boats that seat two people each, good for an innocent paddle out into the middle of the lake - or for sneaking away to do things. Yes, there is also one speed boat. No, it is absolutely not for joyriding, it’s sole purpose is to quickly get out into the waters to save drowning kids - so don’t even try it! Same with the two jetskis... right?

The Courts

This is the sports dedicated area of the camp. There are tennis courts, a basketball court, a large field that can be used for baseball, kickball, soccer, you name it!

The Main Office

This is where people assume the director is staying every night. The office is the location of check-in and check-out for the campers as well as being home to the camp’s infirmary. As far as your parents are concerned, there is a nurse. In reality, she does not exist.

The Eatery

A mess hall styled cafeteria is located northeast of all of the cabins. The hall serves your usual cafeteria fare… the food isn’t awful, but it isn’t all that great, either. The true benefit of the eatery is the expansive outdoor picnic area that extends out towards the lake.

Brief history:

Christopher Robin was born at a ski resort; specifically Breckenridge, to a pair of parents who were lucky. Unfortunately, luck has nothing to do with common sense, and Christopher Robin was named after a character in Winnie the Pooh, his mother’s favorite franchise. His dad had been okay with it, mostly because it meant he could call his son Tigger, something he still does to this day.

Before Christopher Robin was born (and after if you ask him, his parents were lucky, so lucky so in fact that they won the lottery. They used the money that they won from the lottery to buy a house in a small town in Colorado, and they used the rest of it to travel the world and do what else? Snowboard. They went everywhere, and tore up the lines everywhere they could — and it was no surprise when their son was born at a ski resort. It wasn’t like they’d stopped going since she was pregnant… how else would they introduce their son to the sport?

When he was five, he had his first snowboard, and he’d fallen in love that very same day. Later, he would fall in love again — but that isn’t important right now. What is important is that Christopher Robin has only ever found one cure to his general summer blues: Camp Red Arrow. He goes every year, and he’s one of the chief advocates in keeping the illusion up. No one is going to take the lake away from him. No. One.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 Founded by Michael Oxmaul in 1999, the owner of the two hundred and sixty-nine acre valley where Red Arrow lake and the camp is located, Camp Red Arrow has been giving teens the opportunity to grow and blossom into young adults for just under twenty years — in fact, this summer will be the camp’s 20th anniversary, and Mike will be there to celebrate it on the first night! While originally just a summer camp, Red Arrow has expanded. Currently, the camp hosts a three month summer camp, and a three week long winter camp in December. This summer, the camp offers a robust selection of activities, and has plenty of toys for the lake — including paddle boats, jet skis, and a boat with an included innertube and a few different sets of waterskis and wakeboards. Everything from playing in the lake, to the classic campfire stories and s’mores. The camp is hosted by a carefully curated group of counselors, chosen from young adults around the nation; typically Boy or Girl Scouts. Our counselors were chosen to help your teenagers expand their knowledge, and grow together. For the past 20 years, the Camp Red Arrow counselors have been trained and given the skills they need to take care of the camp, and the campers themselves. ʍoɹɹɐ pǝɹ dɯɐɔ “Dude. Do people really believe that shit? That’s crazy! Look, I’ve been going to Red Arrow since I was 13… and it’s a lot of things. It’s great, it’s fun, it’s an awesome way to spend my summer and be out of my parents’s hair, but… it ain’t about that team building stuff! You go to the camp, the first day Mike Oxmaul — haha, say it fast — stands on stage in front of everyone, he gives a little speech and talks about how the camp is a great place for you to grow, and then he leaves. What does he leave us with? Nothing but the counselors — some of whom aren’t even 18. And the reality is? This is just a paid vacation for them! They just watch us do whatever we want, and as long as no one dies… they don’t care. We’re on our own here, and it is awesome. We can do whatever we want, the world is our oyster! Except leave, if we try to like… runaway, we’re in trouble. A lot of trouble. The rules are basically ‘don’t die, don’t get permanently maimed, and be in your cabin in the morning.’ Not even by lights out. You want the boat? One of the jet skis? You know where the keys are. It’s freedom man, that’s what’s beautiful about it. It’s a great time, and there are still a few activities, and maybe ol’ Mike will come by every once in a while, do a headcount and bounce. The counselors ultimately have the power, and there’s almost an unspoken agreement. We’ll do what they say because they’re the ones that got people fooled into thinking Red Arrow is a haven of good behavior and learning.” Christopher Robin Bishop, a frequent camper.

╳ This will be a camp roleplay, taking place in Colorado, but accepting campers from all across North America. To the outside eye, Camp Red Arrow appears to be the premiere camping experience. It’s presented as being perfect in almost every way possible. The counselors are consummate professionals, the owner of the camp is passionate about the business… hell, it’s even affordable.

That couldn’t be any further from the truth. The reality is Camp Red Arrow is a place where chaos and anarchy reign. The counselors are less there to console and more to referee. As long as no one dies? They don’t care. Do what you want. At least one of them is medically trained, and there’s like… two first aid kits, so go wild.

For character applications, we’ll be looking for real FCs, and campers aged between 14 and 18. We’ll be deciding character caps depending on how much interest and applications we receive; that is to say, if we have less interest, we’ll allow two campers or one counselor per roleplayer. If we have more, we’ll accept two campers and one counselor per roleplayer.
