Cool.

What's magic like and who can use it? Are there standard fantasy races in this setting? What kind of character do you see the players creating?
Thanks for the interest! I'll leave this IC up for a few more days to see if anyone else bites :)
Lexicon

This is an interest check to see if anyone would fancy a slightly altered version of a game called Lexicon, invented by Neel Krishnaswami back in 2003. I am looking for around 4-5 players to start but would always welcome new players. The game would be played in rounds with turns open for about a week. I propose a slightly modified version of the original premise coupled with elements of another 'world-building' RPG called Microscope by Ben Robbins.

Essentially anyone could play this game and might actually benefit from a rotating roster of players. We would take on the roles of scholars and create a fictional encyclopedia detailing a particular era of a fictional world. The original game was a bit tedious, and ideally is hosted on a wiki site. My experience from the one game I hosted many years ago was that eventually the massive amount of lore and history becomes insane to manage. My goal is to simplify the rules and make it easier to host on a regular forum.

From the web:
"The basic idea of a Lexicon Game is that each player takes on the role of a scholar, from before scholarly pursuits became professionalized (or possibly after they ceased to be). You are cranky, opinionated, prejudiced and eccentric. You are also collaborating with a number of your peers - the other players - on the construction of an encyclopedia."

In the original rules, the GM or host was supposed to come up with a setting seed for players to build off of. I wanted to include elements of the Microscope rules to help streamline that process.

Initially we would come up with a theme or setting seed collectively, and vote on our favorite. The next step would be to 'bookend' the setting by clearly defining the start and end of the particular era of history the encyclopedia would chronicle. It could be anything from a magitech fantasy setting to a hard science fiction universe. Then there would be a round of yes's and no's. Players would have a chance to say what they want in the game and absolutely do not.

I've left out so much so feel free to ask whatever questions you might have! Hope this get's some interest!
@EnterTheHero Yeah perfect!

I like all of the things you have hinted at so far, so I'll keep an eye out. I'm brainstorming a character-probably a bit of an archetype in the genre, but alas, my anime/mecha knowledge is pretty limited. I want to play a cocky sort of over-achiever with a chip on her shoulder and a condescending attitude. Why she is motivated to behave that way? Who knows yet. She wants glory tho...and probably at a high cost. Thanks for the reply!
Hello!

I'm lurking if only to see what lore and background emerges. If you have room for one more, that's great too!
Hey! @EnterTheHero

Posting some interest cause...it's an interesting concept?
Full Disclaimer: I've never tried a sci-fi mecha RP , but this seems unique enough that I might be able to add something to the narrative.

Few Questions:

Are the dragons our characters bonded with defeated enemies of the humanity? ( I would assume this is why there is an artificial intelligence override system necessary to bond pilots with the mechs)

Can you tell me more about the Shard? Like... Does my character know of them/hate them by default? What are the motives of the Shard?

Is this a story with a clear beginning, middle and end? Or is there no specific plot involved?

Thank you so much! Great idea :)

EDIT: you answered one in the OP derp~
