To my lovely writing partners, please bear with my slow responses! I just got engaged and now I'm headed across the Atlantic for a couple weeks. I promise I haven't forgotten you!

I disagree. Your personal preference for one writer over another, does not change the fact that both may be good at what they do. Skill is not subjective.

Perhaps the answer is some conglomeration: A good writer is someone who can artfully combine proficient use of the English language with ideas that make the reader think or feel.

Bio

I think I was probably a cat in another lifetime. I don't like noise, I don't like bright lights, and I don't even particularly like people, though there are one or two exceptions to that last one. What I do like are warm places, good books, hot drinks, and pleasant conundrums, you know the sort that might occupy a longish drive with interesting thinking. Antepenultimately, I enjoy words of a sesquipedalian nature, though only as a veridical aesthete; I don’t think these words have much of a place in the writing I’ll be doing on this forum. They mess with the flow of the prose if you catch my meaning. Supereminently, I’ll write with anyone that has a strong voice and a good grasp of the English language, and while I won't promise not to bite, I will swear I've had all my shots, so pm me if you've got any clever ideas or inchoate notions.

New plot idea!
I'm almost done with a netrunner character! I'm just running into one small problem: netrunning rigs are expeeeeensive. Any advice? My chick's got nothing but the cheapest clothes and light pistol, but I'm still having trouble building a rig with what's left.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see you have a netrunner.
Welcome to the underworld! Mwa ha ha ha....
Elise spent the train ride trying to have as little to do with the others as possible. The captors were pretty low on her list of people she'd enjoy interacting with, and the others coerced into this grand farce were unlikely to have any helpful information on the situation.

The cellist felt her pulse spike with anxiety when she heard about the plan. She had known that whatever these people wanted from her wasn't going to be strictly legal, but hearing them talk about the theft still made her hands clammy. She was a musician, for Christ's sake, not some cat burglar. For a bizarre moment, Elise had a vision of the three employees knocking on the door to her cozy hole and manipulating her into burglarizing Smaug's treasure. Too bad they lacked the brightly colored cloaks, but then it wasn't like she had a large coat rack at hand.

And there was no telling who the wizard was, to mark her front door with a strange symbol to draw these suave criminals in.

Then, the first one-- Archie-- outlined her part in this scheme and the sleight woman was stunned.

"All you want me to do is play?"

To be entirely honest, Elise had not expected that her captors would ask her to do the one thing she was made to do. In fact, she was a bit floored. Maybe memorizing top secret info like she'd been trained to memorize concertos, or maybe using her quick thinking and impressive learning abilities in some other way.

But Bach?

"But I didn't bring my cello," she blurted. "Not to mention, its Bach. Anyone could do it. Why not just let the poor "suddenly ill" cellist do his job?"

There had to be some catch in her part of the plan, but Elise couldn't see it. Was it really that important to infiltrate the entertainment?
I return!

And am currently trying not to get overwhelmed by all that's happened while I've been gone.
I'm back!

Switzerland was beautiful, but lemme tell ya folks, it is not the place to travel if you're on a budget.

Anywho...

I'm working on getting caught up as we speak, but you may have to be a tad patient with me.
She's back!!!

And completely lost. And talking in third person.

But she's back!!!

And slogging through the new posts determinedly.
I'm good with discord, but you may have to be patient with me until I'm stateside. I don't get to check my phone often. Sadly (and happily too because I miss you guys) my classes are almost over.

I'm ambivalent towards Ansgar.
Very cool! I love Enigma and Variations, but I haven't played the other pieces. Good luck on your tour!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to write yet, but I will when I catch a moment to breathe. I'm working on my master's in Performance but I feel out of my league in these classes. I'm working my ass off to keep up.
My class is one on one for solo works, like a two-week master class haha, so I'm playing flute lit. Frank Martin's Ballade, Ibert's Flute Concerto, Eldin Burton's Sonatina, CPE Back's Solo Sonata in A minor and Catherine Hoover's Winter Spirits.

I love orchestra though! It's definitely my favorite ensemble to play in. What are you all working on?
