His legs felt like jelly as he made his way over to the volunteers waiting for them, his breathing shaky as he quickly slunk out of sight from the crowd. That had been a more horrible experience than he had thought it would, he almost felt like he would throw up. If he had been standing up there a moment longer, he just might have. Projectile vomiting on his partner, the headmaster, and two druids would have been the worst way possible to start the year.

He stopped to catch his breath in the doorway, trying to let his clenched nerves untangle themselves from the Erish knot they had tied themselves into. But just as he was taking a deep breath, he felt a hand on his shoulder, startling him badly enough that he let out a strangled squeak. Well, that was totally undignified. He looked over his shoulder, seeing his partner there, frowning and looking understandably concerned. Gods above, how had he forgotten about him?!

He tried to let out a weak laugh, wiping cold sweat off his cheek under the guise of fixing his glasses.
"M-Me? I-I'm okay. I-I just don't l-like being on stage is all. S-Sorry about that." he apologized, hoping he didn't look as horrible as he felt. Part of it was guilt for ditching to poor guy on the stage like that, but a bigger part of it was how much he was embarrassing himself right now. Thankfully, the volunteers ushered them along, and led them to their room.

He half listened to their tour of the facilities, quickly setting his suitcase down on one of the beds. A partition, thank gods! At least he could have some privacy! With no offense to his partner, he didn't know how he would have handled being stuck in a small room with another person for a year. The communal dorms had stressed him enough. Soon, the volunteers finished explaining the features of the room, and handed both of them a slip of paper.
"Oh, and by the way, sorry about this last minute change, but Monster Hunting has been made mandatory for all second years. Professor Munster has been pushing to have it added to the core curriculum for years, so I guess this in a concession they made."

Richard froze. Monster Hunting? Like, hunting monsters? Dragons, slimes, bearcats-kinda monsters? But, he didn't even know his ability yet! He had no clue if it was suited to combat at all! If it was a combat-oriented ability, like super-strength or enhanced reflexes, then he'd be in trouble. He had no clue how to fight!

He took a deep breath, trying not to let the dismay show on his face. It was okay, he still had one elective, right? One safe, easy elective that wouldn't require being around vicious monsters. He looked over the list, running over it. Cooking would probably to most popular, and thus the most crowded. He could do without that. Horticulture would probably be going outside a lot. He'd prefer to stay indoors whenever possible. Which made it a tie between painting and music. He checked off music without any hesitation, that was at least something he had talent in. Though he doubted there would be very many uses for a concert ukulele, that would assure that he'd be out of the spotlight. As long as the teacher didn't notice his voice or give him a solo, he'd be fine performing in a group.

He handed the sheet back, looking over at his partner.
"I-I'm gonna be taking music, if you don't mind. It's the one elective I'm actually good at, and it's not like we have to be together for all classes. N-N-Not to say you can't join it too, j-just that you don't have to join it if you don't want to." Brilliant explaining, Richard, A+ in oral performance for you. Honestly, why couldn't this day be over and he be left alone already?

Felicity Goldberg

In the short span of a minute, Felicity had come to learn 3 new things. The first was that her partner wanted to be an adventurer. The second was that he would join cooking class with her. And the third was that Monster Hunting, the class that he had just expressed interest in, was now mandatory for their year.

Felicity had never taken a Monster Studies course in her life, not Zoology, Studies of the Arcane, and certainly not Monster Hunting. It certainly sounded frightening, monsters existed everywhere in the world, but they were usually quite dangerous! They were animals that had a much higher level of mana than others, which resulted in their biology changing and powers manifesting in ways that normal animals didn't. As a result, they could endanger people's lives on occasion, and part of the jobs Adventure Guilds dealt with was wrangling or exterminating outbreaks of monster pests. It was definitely an important class to take for an adventurer, but she didn't plan on being an adventurer at all! She was going into fashion!

She looked over at Korrey, but he didn't seem very happy with the change in curriculum. It was hard to gauge how he felt behind his sunglasses, but he seemed tense and was no longer smiling. He quietly made his choices and handed the paper over to the volunteer, and Felicity was quick to follow suit, checking off cooking and monster hunting. Korrey then walked into the other partitioned part of the room to do whatever it was he wanted. It reminded her something of when Monty wanted to be alone, he'd always go off and sulk in his bedroom. The girl tried to mind nothing of it, the new transition could take a toll on anyone.

She instead devoted herself to unpacking, opening up her suitcase and laying out things that had to go where. Laptop and chargers went on the desk, mirror and makeup on top of the dresser, clothes inside of it, shoes in the bottom drawer, and magazines bookshelf. She laid out her new uniform nice and neat on the bed, ready to be worn when class started tomorrow. The entire thing took her probably less than 5 minutes, and when she was done, she stored her suitcase underneath her bed for safe keeping.

She wondered what to do now. Nancy and Monty would probably still be waiting for their partners or getting to know them, and she couldn't go back to the sun room. What was there to do... Oh! She knew! She could go to the library and pickup some books on monsters and monster hunting! That way she wouldn't slow her partner down! Would he like to go with her? He was interested in the course, maybe they could find something together! Then again, he did seem like he wanted to be alone... She shrugged. She'd ask him, the worst he could do was say no. She knocked in the partition doorway to get his attention without invading his space.
"Hey! Um, I'm gonna go and see if the school library is open, and find out if it has any books on monster hunting. Do you wanna come? I've never taken a class like this before, I thought it would be a good idea to be prepared!" There, that was a good invitation! Now she could wait for his answer.

Pairing Announcement!

A pairing has been decided! Jeanette Blackwood, controlled by @Raijinslayer, and Franceska Vrodiskovich, controlled by @banjoanjo, are partners! You can add each other to your CS's and post about your Sacramentum as soon as a podium is opened!

In addition, @Avanhelsing has been moved to the waiting list, after an extended period of inactivity. He is not being kicked, and we'll be more than happy to reinsert him when he comes back.

To the two Familiars remaining on the waiting list, @General Scales and @liferusher, we're working on solutions to get you two in ASAP, so worry not. We haven't forgotten you.

Two whole years, huh? Impressive, but I'm afraid how long you've been a member does not have any influence on our decisions. Please keep in mind that our lore trumps your personal opinions, and there is no way around that. In addition, please treat my co-GMs with respect, as this is our RP, not yours.

As long as we have an understanding, you may feel free to submit a character. However, all characters are subject to our reviews, and if there are things that go against lore, our rules, or are simply implausible, we will ask you to remove them.

With that, I look forwards to seeing your submission. I do hope everything will be in order. :)

Sure, you can apply for a Familiar! We're trying to balance things out, but if you submit a CS and get accepted, we'll work on pairing you up!

Oh, and just for clarification, Familiars aren't "underlings". Familiars and Mages are equals. Some Mages have more passive magic like Healing, Weather, Light, and Shadow, while Familiars might have more offensive abilities, like super strength, super speed, or telekinesis. It wholly depends on the magic type and ability that determines a character being offensive, passive, or support. :)

Also, everyone in the world is either a Mage or a Familiar, so there's no one without powers. A Mage is someone who can use magic, and a Familiar is someone who can't, but has lots of it and has an extraordinary ability.

Sure! We've reconvened, and your reroll has nicked you a very rare Ability, Copy. Copy is an Enigma Ability, an extremely rare Ability type! Copy allows you to copy the Ability of any Familiar! Whoa! Copy has only been recorded a few times in history, and is one of the most sought after abilities! While useless on its own, by touching a nearby Familiar with skin-to-skin contact, you can copy their Ability! However, you can can only hold one power at a time, new touches will overwrite each other, and the power you copy only lasts for one hour. You can only copy a specific person's power once a day, so make sure it counts! In addition, you inherit all the weaknesses of a specific Ability, and you may not be as skilled in its use as the original user. However, this versatility allows you to operate in a wide array of fields, and makes you a force to be reckoned with! Awesome!

Mui Rei review v 3.0

Congratulations! You’re accepted! Your character’s ability is Fire Immunity! An Athletic Ability, your character is totally immune to burns and damage from flames, and doesn’t even feel warm near fire! This extends to burns from the sun or fire magic! However, this has a drawback, as your character can’t get warm near fire! Winter’s gonna be rough, bundle up tight! In addition, heat from other elements can warm and damage you, such as hot metal, scalding water, or searing air. Don’t go sitting on any stovetops! Currently, your character is immune to minor to moderate flames, and can withstand temperatures up to 200˚ F. In time, you can cultivate a total immunity to even the strongest flames, and withstand even greater temperatures! That’s hot stuff!

Franceska Vrodiskovich review

Congratulations! You’re accepted! Your character’s ability is Phasing! A kinetic ability, this ability allows your character to move through solid objects like they aren’t even there! By concentrating your energy, you can move through furniture, walls, and even sink into the earth itself! However, you cannot phase through living organisms, and cannot un-phase until you are clear of the object you are phasing through. In addition, you must hold your breath when phasing through items, and phasing for too long can cause you to faint and even suffocate! Don’t hold it for too long, no journeys to the center of the earth for you! And remember, the more dense an object is, the more effort is required to phase through it. Currently, you can phase for 20 seconds, and can phase through wood, soil, concrete, and stone. However, metal and dense stone is currently out of your reach. Don’t lose hope, with enough training, you can phase through denser materials and do so for longer periods of time! Wicked!

Jeanette Blackwood review

Congratulations! Jeanette is accepted! Her magic is Metal Magic! You can control metal, including changing its shape, launching it as a projectile, and even altering the kind of metal it is! Very cool! Currently, you can only use Summon, which summons nearby metal to you! The more malleable a metal is, the easier it is to bend to your will, but stronger metals need stronger magic! With training, you can expand your number of spells and your skills, to allow you to shape metal or even transmute it into different kinds of metal! How lucky!

With this, you are all free to post your characters in the characters tabs, join the discord, and post in the IC. HOWEVER, due to an issue we’re trying to work out, your partners will be announced on Monday evening. For the mean time, you can post your character’s in the Sun Room, but DO NOT approach the podium or announce your pairings. Remember to look over the Students Schedule and classes to get a good idea of the elective you’d like to take and familiarize yourselves with our schedule!

AAAA Review

Congratulations! Your character is accepted! Alice's ability is Echolocation! Using chirps, clicks, and taps, your character can map out their locations and detect opponents using sound, rendering the darkness useless! You have nothing to fear in pitch-black conditions, and even the invisible and cloaked can't hide from you! Currently, you can detect people in a range up to 20 ft. However, with more practice, you can expand your range and detect objects in more detail, creating a perfect mental replica of your surroundings! Totally radical!

Okay, let’s goes through these one by one, as we read off.

I’m rather bitter about one line in particular in the personality. “Just like any other girl, deep down she likes cute stuff and is always extremely excited when they were dressing up neatly.”

Do you understand you’ve just taken an entire 50% of the population and reduced them to dolls and dress up? What was going through your head when you wrote this? Apart from how offensive this is, this kind of generalizing is shallow and is a terrible reason for why your character loves dress-up or cute stuff. Scratch the any other girl part, it’s needless and honestly rather stupid.

Now onto the problems in her history!
First up: Dubai

Let’s play a game. Look at a globe, and point out on it where Prydain is.

Can you find it? Cause I can’t.

This is a made up fantasy world with made up fantasy countries and a made up fantasy history. Why is Dubai here? It doesn’t belong in this universe, it doesn’t exist. Remove this part, it clashes with the world.

Now for the father's job. He is "owners of a small company in plants".
Plants???

These plants? Is he a florist? A botanist? An agricultural scientist? A fertilizer manufacturer? An agricultural landowner? Does he specialize in rare and exotic plants? Does he run Prydain’s Home Depot garden department? Be more specific, because right now, “a small company of plants” makes it sound like the plants are, well, working for him.

Next up, the timeline for her neglect. She cooks for herself. While staying at her aunt or grandma’s house. Are they comatose? How old is she?? Is she just getting up like little Matilda and making herself pancakes?

Don’t do this. If she’s staying with a competent adult, then that adult should be caring for her needs. She’s cooking and eating by herself and staying up late for her parents to come home. WHERE DID THE AUNT/GRANDMA GO? This isn’t consistent with previously stated facts and is really a poor way of making her “neglected”. Her parents are rich enough to hire a babysitter or nanny. Give her one or use the relatives, but either way, scrap the Baby’s First Cooking bit and give her a curfew.

Also, do you understand what neglect is? Because this neglect seems fairly short lived in your character’s life, or well compensated with outpourings of love and affection. Here are some examples of neglect!
-Not feeding or clothing your children
-Not supervising your children
-Not taking care of your children’s education

So far, there are only two characters in the backstory that fit the bill. The Aunt/Grandmother hybrid that disappears after being mentioned once. Like some kind of Russian boogeyman. You need to fix this, or remove the neglect altogether, because it’s just so incoherent.

And then, this bit.
“Luckily they got a good lead from one of employees. His son used to go to this fantastic, high caliber school overseas.”
Overseas. Do you mean to tell me your character is not even in Prydain?

Nope, nuh-uh, nada. You have to be from Prydain. If you had asked beforehand, we would have allowed this, but this is world building. You’re not allowed to world build. World building is our job. Remove this part and make her from Prydain.

Then onto her likes. Jpop. As earlier addressed, this is a made up world. There is no Japan. Jpop does not exist. Remove this.

Now onto her quiz! I have high hopes for this!

“1. What is your character's greatest regret?
"Probably the time I beat a classmate in middle school, I punched the poor guy a blood nose after I thought he trashed my lunch onto the ground which was an accident off course, ugh I still feel bad."

I’m sorry, but I don’t see “Prone to outbursts of violence over misunderstandings” in your character’s personality. A guy accidentally knocks her lunch tray over, and she punches him? That doesn’t fit with anything in the personality. Fix this and make it more explicit in her personality that she is violent, or take this out entirely. And remember that a criminal record immediately gets you rejected from St. Fortuna’s.

And then question 6. Another case of the Twilight Pets.

The bunny doesn’t appear anywhere else in the character sheet. It just comes and goes as it pleases. Pets, important heirlooms, and missing family members should never be mentioned as passing in quizzes. Mention the bunny in the history or misc, but don’t just stick it here and say nothing about it. If it’s important enough to save, state why.

In sum, this character still needs work. You put too many places that don’t exist in canon in the backstory, you need to specify on what her father actually does for a living instead of saying “plants”, fix the poorly attempted neglect plot line in her backstory, and rectify the issues with the magically appearing bunny and the sudden show of violence in her personality.

Also, make her taller. I’m tired of tiny petite high school girls. It’s a trope that has gotten exhausting really quick. I don’t care how kawaii she is, put her over 5’2”. -GM Len

Hi, I'm going to go into some more of the problems with her personality.

"She is quick to snap at others and becomes irritated the moment something doesn’t fit her boat which isn’t really helping her to make any more new friends."
So this says to me that Mui is irritable, spoiled, and is generally angry a lot at other people and most likely bossy.

"Some people see past that and only see a shy lonely girl that is just not confident on how to talk normally with others."
Now, this completely contradicts all of that. Shy people don't snap at people, and if someone bothers them they'll usually back out of the situation. And if people see her snapping at others all the time and being irritable, people probably don't think she's lonely because she can't express herself, they probably think she's alone because she can't express herself in anything but a negative way around people. It's not really something they would feel sorry for her for as this line suggests.

"Due to her reluctant and shy nature, she had difficulty making any new friends."
If people's first impressions of her are "Oh, that's the spoiled girl that will fly off the handle on you" then it wouldn't be being shy or reluctant that's the problem.
"She didn’t blame others for not approaching her, though, as a snappy rich girl, she didn't feel like she was all that easily to approach"
Is she shy and reluctant or is she a snappy spoiled rich girl? She can't be both because both those personality types clash with one another.
"Friends that did get close to her found her to be quite cheerful and less gloomy than she had first let on."
Once again, people's first impressions of her seemed to be that Mui is an angry spoiled girl. She doesn't like she looked gloomy at all just mad.
"Just like any other girl, deep down she likes cute stuff and is always extremely excited when they were dressing up neatly. A smile can always be found on her face when she is at home doing her own stuff like reading or playing games. Or when she is enjoying something like shopping. It can make her a tad embarrassed though knowing that people she didn’t know saw her as antisocial."
And this part just clashes with the rest of her. Like this feels too happy go lucky if she's short tempered and spoiled. If she's shy and reluctant then the part where she's at home would fit but it seems a little outgoing if she's out someplace. Also from how you describe your character, either way, she comes off as kind of anti-social because she either ends up pushing people away or is too shy to interact.

"Mui got quite responsible in handling daily tasks this way but became quite reluctant being at home alone all the time. She didn’t really know how to make any friends and would often put great strain on herself for messing up even the slightest bit of a conversation."
Also, there's no real sign of any of this in her bio. She sounds like a mature little girl who just wants to be a good daughter to her parents who never has a short temper or acts spoiled. Like, did she not go to school to become reluctant by staying at home? Because she would still be interacting with people at school. Also, that bit about her putting strain on herself for messing up a conversation sounds more like Social Anxiety then being shy. Also being left alone doesn't really make you socially reluctant or shy, maybe if she was forced into being away from being around others at school via some bullies or something but not just by being along when she got home from school. Did she not make any friends or anything growing up or interact at all?

Well, I think that's just about it-

"Give them both a beating. Kidding, I'll try to get them away from each other for a little bit to talk"
WHAT???
That's not how a shy and reluctant person would act at all! It fits with her short-tempered personality but if she's supposed to be this sweet kind shy girl then she would go around hitting people she thinks wronged her on purpose or joke about beating people up!

Okay, what I suggest is that you try to pick a more consistent personality. Do you want shy and reluctant or do you want a short tempered pampered princess? Or maybe pick something else if you're so inclined, it's all up to you. -GM Neno

Edit: I forgot to put this is, But Alice will be partnered with Mikayla! And Mikayla's magic is electricity! With electricity, you can send out powerful shocks, but requires a small copper ball to focus their spells. Without a familiar, your powers and wattage are rather low. But with a familiars help, you can increase your powers and unleash devastating shock! Wow!
