@MancerNecro Hey, Ashley. Cross-stitching sounds like a really neat hobby, as well as an uncommon one. Magical/Fantasy RPs are also really interesting and I hope you can find one that interests you on this site. I'd definitely like to know if you find one that tickles your fancy.

This forum is pretty active overall, though obviously not every roleplay will meet an end (in my experience, tabletop RPGs are better in this regard) - if it interests you, why not try starting your own campaign?

@CruelWoman Wow, that's awesome that you have so much experience roleplaying! What about RPing do you enjoy specifically, if there is such a reason?

There are a lot of different RPs that are categorized with tags relating to their genres, and I believe 'modern' is one of them - so hopefully you can use that to find RPs you'll enjoy. I'm not super familiar with it personally but I believe the "Arena" subforum specifically focuses on 1v1 battles / sparring.

How has this mercenary/pirate band come together, exactly? Has the general/leader brought everyone together, or is there some larger organizational structure? Relatedly, it would seem in the former case at least characters would know each other beforehand and have personal history, yeah?

Hallo freund! There are a lot of different genres to explore. Also, there are a lot of people interested in violent themes and in horror in general, so I am sure you will be able to find something you like. If you scan the RPGs posted in the different subforums like "Free" and "Casual", you can see that some of them are tagged with such genres.
