Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

@fer1323 I think your PC could be either with mine or Vropda. Neither of us want to control what happens to your PC (cause godmodding). So whichever option you prefer is ok with me. I don't think being with Creft is much of an option though.

@Ellri An alternative to having a blacklist on members who can use the tag would be the inverse: Having a whitelist for members who have proven themselves dedicated to mentoring and helping others (or at least have not been aggressive or harmful in the past). Perhaps one could apply to be allowed to use the tag, a mod could check them over, and then give them permissions to use the tag. There could even be an added Title or other flair that states when an individual has the mentoring authority, either just on their profile or also under their avatar on posts.

@Mahz My thought with the Mentoring tag is that it would only be used for helping people learn the ropes in one system or another. Having it simply be an additional tag would be the easiest thing to implement, but if you want more ideas, I might be able to help with some.

1) If you implement a forum dedicated to mentoring, linking threads that are tagged with Mentoring into that thread might be helpful (especially if it's split apart into the different types of RPs like the forum is). Perhaps even just interest checks or threads that have been posted in within the last month so things don't get too cluttered.

2) If the Mentoring tag was a different color, showed up first in the list, and had specific rules for use (perhaps that showed up when you first select the tag), that might also aid in people finding them. People who create Mentoring RPs should be aware that they are inviting questions about literally everything and should be expected to assume a slightly higher level of both professionalism (as they represent the RP and the genre as a whole) as well as the responsibility to answer all of those questions to the best of their abilities.

3) Perhaps an eye can be kept on some of these Mentoring RPs. We could have a sort of monthly recognition for ongoing RPs that work to improve the quality of their players' skills. This would obviously take a lot of extra effort, but it would both bring attention to the feature and recognition that this feature is a priority in the Guild. The latter makes the Guild more accessible to newcomers and would likely improve first impressions significantly.
As the group passed by the local tavern, Ceraun held back a little. "I am needed little in your diplomatic endeavors, General. I shall investigate the local populace. Perhaps find more... allies to join us. Call me if you need me!" She had barely gotten the words out of her mouth when a man hastily crashed into one of the Scroungers. As the bodyguard whipped his chaingun to the intruder, Ceraun stepped forward, placing a hand on her ally's rig. "Oof... that looked like it hurt. Oh wait. I remember you... General, Captain, please carry on. This man needs my attention.

Ceraun knelt down before him, examining his state while muttering her diagnosis to herself. "Elevated cardiac rhythm and synaptic response. Dilation of the pupils. Hm." The diagnosis was simple enough. Unless her xenobiology needed some finetuning, this man was under the influence of a hyperstimulant, as well as a fairly sizable cranial contusion. Ceraun reached inside her medical bag, fishing around for an emergency depressant, then affixed it to a device that appeared to be a hypospray, and placed it to the man's neck. Slowly, the pupil's dilation returned to normal as Ceraun closed up her bag. She placed a hand on the man's newly-forming bruise and focused as a stream of healing energy flowed into him.

Finally, she shook the man awake. "Hey, buddy. You took a nasty header there. Might want to lay off your boosters, hm?" she suggested as she stood up, offering a hand towards him to help him to his feet. "Looks like I caught you after all. Didn't even need to waste fuel. You are absolutely atrocious at hide and seek, you know?"

Mention: @Gordian Nought@Mistiel@Hekazu. Might also affect @fer1323, @ChickenTeriyaki, @0Z, as you are in the vicinity.
@Fjanz I don't have time for a live game, but a couple of suggestions in case others are interested:

1) if this is a live game, what time would the sessions be (including time zone)?

2) by "standard" races, what do you mean? I always thought tieflings were standard in PF. Do you mean Core only? If not, do you have a RP limit? Allow 3rd party? Etc.

3) similarly with classes. Core only? Archetypes? 3rd party? Any other useful info such as the style of campaign that could affect choices?
Sounds emanated from all around the cathedral, echoing in the mind of the thuggish human and in reality as well. "ꙀРLIГ ЧР!" cried the sahuagin who seemed in charge, and immediately, each of the four aisles had one of the people patrolling it. The drake soared into the air in the cathedral ceiling scanning the far right aisle, while the priestess and her acolyte took the rightmost two aisles.

"Door's ajar!" the thug called out as he rushed past the aisles. "Someone's in here! Stay alert!"

"An elf cowers over here," called the drake, its voice like what one would expect a flickering candle to sound like. "Spies are not welcome in our house!"

Jill approached the gunwhales and peered over the edge. "Hello, 'freeloaders.' Don't worry: our Beholder friend doesn't like many people he first meets." Jill mptioned Koan over. "Could you toss them a line? I'm sure if they do anything hostile, Dyn could take them out with ten eyestalks tied behind his back."

She turned back to Bledig, hoping the Jester was doing her bidding. "I assume these two had nothing to do with your predicament. Their lives must mean little to you, but if you could spare them, I will take responsibility for their actions henceforth." Seeing a curt nod from the elemental, she continued. "Now that we are here, we intend to investigate your Marid problem. Just point us in the right direction."

The theullai chuckled. "Thy eagerness speaks of ignorance, Daughter of Michael. Finding thy quarry will be half the effort. He hideth himself in the caverns beneath the Verdant Stream. I must stay and guard the gate, but I can send a scout as far as the Merish village. There, thou mayest find more answers thou dost seek."

As Alex approached the door, Kimiko was still getting a feel of the newfound weapon in her hands, a quiet conversation shared with her friend about their situation. Creepy would be one way to describe the atmosphere. Esoteric, with a side of danger. Nothing about this world made sense, nor did it feel like it was supposed to. From the glimpse she had of the outside, it seemed as if they were stranded here, surrounded by nothing. Their purpose was unclear; their journey unguided. Exit was unlikely, as was survival. But Kimiko had no idea what sort of danger they were in until she saw... them.

Like a verdant flood, they poured into the room, covering Alex in their sickly forms. Her wooden weapon would be nigh useless; she was as likely to hurt her ally as her enemy. And yet, what was she to do? Nothing? A moment of hesitation as she fought through the paralyzing fear, then she screamed.
"FROSTY!"

Kimiko rushed forward, knowing her next move was about as stupid as it could get. "Take my hand!" she called out as she reached into the chittering mass of flesh. "Come on, come on! Where are you?! Reach out... please!" The pain was almost unbearable, and tears streamed down her face, but still she persevered.

"Come on, I can't lose you now!"

It's fine, although it was to be an aside to Tessa after she made her address. Which is why I'd say she sat back down since he's not very loud. I mean it's not like the whole bar suddenly stopped all noises just to hear people talking across the bar, so I figured if you're not within two feet of an old Cleric you might not hear him very well.

Edited her name out, then. I assume my PC heard it anyways since she was paying attention to them unless the DM wishes me to make a Perception check.
@The Grey Dust I will check and see if I need to edit. I would expect that my PC would be listening in after someone declared their intention to assist, but if it seemed quiet, she wouldn't intentionally oust them.

EDIT: I checked - Tessa addressed the entire room (which likely helped get the place to quiet down slightly), and Kethan's next words were Tessa's name, and it wasn't stated that it was hushed. I feel like most would have heard her name. If you intended otherwise, I can make an edit as needed. I certainly don't want to be on anyone's bad side~
