Fen rubbed his mouth, as if contemplating a response. In truth, he expected simple shock, or even a violent response. He wasn’t expecting such a cute reaction from the girl. He felt a little guilty because of it, and decided to stick around. When he was finished hiding his grin, he composed himself and spoke. ”Too nervous.” He pointed at the girl, emphasizing who he meant. ”Thinking too much of the soon, upsetting your now.” As he got a better look at the girl, it affirmed what he was saying. She seemed too exhausted to be up, but at the same time, too awake to sleep.

Fen yawned, as if making a point. Taking a sitting posture similar to the girl, he pulled out something from his knapsack, a cloak meant for traveling in Vacuo. While it was mostly for protection from the sun, it was warm enough to sleep in those cold desert nights, and thus became his preferred sleep attire. Wrapping himself in the cloak, he noticed the girl was focusing intently on him, as if she was trying to ignore everyone else. ”Relax, everyone else is.” He pointed to the person closest to them. A few people were woken up by the brief commotion, but they quickly went back to sleep. At worst, one placed a pillow over his head.

Feeling completely satisfied with the talk, Fen closed his eyes and dozed off, his body still facing the girl.

Fen walked uneasily as he went down the ramp. He travelled on foot for most of his life, so going by airship was somewhat uncomfortable for him. But that feeling went away as he took in the city sights. It was definitely more grand than anything he’d seen in Vacuo, although admittingly, that wasn’t exactly a high bar. But to avoid staying awestruck, he moved his sights to the rest of the departing crowd. There were all sorts coming from the ship, some similarly impressed by the view, while others moved towards a single location, to what everyone came here for. He did notice one of the possible students pickpocketing a man taking in everyone’s belongings. But he couldn’t stop her even if he wanted to. There was a good distance between them, and she soon melded with the crowd.

The luggage carrier eventually reached Fen and offered to take his bag. He declined the offer. He wasn’t carrying anything particularly heavy in the knapsack he slung over his shoulder. As usual, his bag carried spare clothes, extra dust cartridges, and some other basic necessities for traveling. There was however, some extra money his father gave him inside. Considering what he just saw, he felt a little cautious in giving his belongings. He thought about telling the man about his stolen wallet, but decided against it. The thief was long gone, and he didn’t have time to be playing guardsman. Instead, he followed everyone else to the hall, where the Headmaster was settling everyone in. He didn’t think much about the Headmaster’s speech, seeing it as a typical introduction like he heard in his previous school. But his ears perked when he heard about the hearty meal, and knew exactly where he was heading afterwards.

Fen sighed happily as he took a walk around the hall. He grabbed as much as he could, and to the horrified looks of anyone nearby, scarfed it down within seconds. He didn’t feel tired yet, being used to taking short periods of rest, so he decided to scope out the applicants. He wasn’t sure of the difficulties of the initiation, but he had a feeling a lot of people here might not make it. He couldn’t put his finger on how he could tell, but his instincts were generally correct in those assumptions. He continued walking, until he spotted someone staring out a window.

There were quite a few people around the hall looking out the windows, so Fen wasn’t sure why he singled her out. Maybe it because she was a fellow Faunus, or perhaps it was because she seemed more nervous than the rest. Either way, he felt a mischievous streak upon him and decided to act on it. He moved quietly behind her, just out of her eyesight. When he was confident she didn’t notice him, he crouched, drawing closer to the girl.

”Nice view.” Fen said clearly, staring out the window she was looking at.
Tell me if there's anything big I need to change, I want to rework it a little, but that can come later.

Interested as a potential player.
@Vermicelli It's under the banner in the opening post. But here as well.
I'll join, if there's any slots left.
Morgan

21 AUGUST 2050

"So how did your date go?"

"Uh well..." the bespectacled man sitting across Morgan was taken aback by the sudden question. "It was good. I mean, we didn't really talk and it wasn't really a date, but-" Morgan smiled as he continued listening to Andrew trying to coherently make a response. He wasn't planning to invite the bashful journalist for lunch, but he had some extra time, he was curious if Andrew actually mustered the courage asking his co-worker out, and there was a specific topic he wanted to talk about.

"...Anyway, thanks for that restaurant suggestion. Maria liked it! I think she did. She didn't seem like she hated it-" Morgan raised his hand, stopping Andrew from talking in circles again. "You're welcome. I just figured you two needed a break. After all, the fog must've added a lot to your workload, right?" Andrew stared at him for a moment before realizing what Morgan meant by that.

It wasn't an task that needed immediate attention, but Morgan asked about the fog whenever he could. Unfortunately, all he ever got as of late was mild indifference or annoyance at losing some prospective business deals in Antarctica. Everyone was anticipating something happening with bated breath, but after a few weeks without any change, things generally went back to normalcy. But who he didn't ask yet was a certain reporter who might have some answers regarding the incident.

"You'd think so." Andrew started, adjusting his glasses. He showed a more serious attitude now, completely different from the anxious man from before. "But it's been pretty calm on my side. After the initial uproar, we've just been reporting on the same old same old." Morgan quietly nodded in response. It was unfortunate, but it looked like he'd have to wait for any new information on the fog.

But there was another way he supposed. He could join one of the many groups investigating Antarctica. But he felt the public campaigns, as well the few private organizations that gave him an offer, were ineffective. He entertained the idea of asking Vulcan, but it seemed like they weren't part of any current investigations, and that was even assuming they would hire him in the first place. Still, he considered joining the next offer presented to him. Better than never fully knowing what his strange connection to the fog was.

But seeing as the two exhausted that particular topic, Morgan went back to his usual small talk. The rest of their lunch was spent in relative peace. As the two finished their meal, Morgan stood up, paying the bill along with leaving a generous tip.

"Thanks for joining me Andy, tell me how it goes with Maria later, alright?" As Morgan left a flustered Andrew behind, he checked his phone for messages. There were a couple of new texts, all of which were invitations to somewhere, for various reasons. Looking over his choices, he politely declined all but one. It was just hanging out at some local bar and getting a few drinks. He thought it would be a nice way to end the day.

Morgan groaned as he sluggishly got up from the couch. Looking around the dark room, he realized it was probably close to midnight when he woke up. He rubbed his temples for a while before finding a silhouette of letters on the nearby coffee table. As it turned out, getting roped into a drinking contest with a Daeva was a bad idea. Luckily however, not only did he remain coherent enough to call a taxi to go home, he even managed to pick up the mail on his way up. Figuring he wouldn't be able to sleep for a while after waking up, he started checking them.

"Bill, payment, bill, birthday party..." he shuffled through each one, already knowing what most of them were at a glance. He stopped on the last one, a letter that looked unfamiliar from the usual. Opening it, he could barely make out the wording in the dark and in his disoriented state.

"Investigation...Antarctic anomaly..." Morgan skimmed through the letter. All he made out was an investigation offer in typical legal jargon. But seeing as it looked legitimate, he signed it without much thought and left it on the table. As he finished sorting, Morgan collapsed on the couch, immediately drifting off to sleep. He can deliver the letter later he thought. It probably wasn't that urgent.
@RedDuskThanks, the two events happened at the same time for Morgan, I added a bit at the end to mention that.

And I tweaked the teleportation to make it more suitable. The only major new things I added that might need changing is if Morgan can choose whether or not teleport something else with him (I.e. if he touches two things at once but only wants to go with one), and sensing how exhausted he'll be if he teleports via images. Other than that, everything should be fine?
