Seated a few inches in front of their mother, Mei quietly listened. The situation she found herself in was an interesting one. Among the six creatures that were present, including herself, four had revealed their ties to Earth.

"So I was the only one then." Mei thought to herself. It was a conclusion merely based on an assumption, but given their current circumstances, Mei believed that they all came from the same world.

Honestly though, aside from knowing that they were previously human, was there any other merit in knowing which world they came from? Probably none, but at least this gave Mei a clue on the possible social norms they possessed.

As their conversation shifted from introductions to casual speech, Mei noticed how articulate they all were. She had initially planned to maintain the facade of a lowly Dire Rat and to remain inconspicuous, but doing so might prove to be disadvantageous given the revelations she had just heard. Aside from her wits, at her current state, Mei had little to offer their group. She wasn't as large or fast as Mother or her siblings, nor did she possess magical capabilities like the Wisps. All Mei had was her wits, but in actuality, it was all she needed for the time being.

"Edward and Asteria, huh?" Being observant and meticulous was essential in Mei previous life and she knew that this time around, she'd still make use of these skills. She was good with faces and names, and although she personally cared little about these, it was helpful that she had something to call her siblings instead of thinking of them as just other Dire Rats.

"Lorek." Mei took a mental note; now all that was left was the name of the other wisp. She had no plans on asking though; she didn't want to come off as too curious or prying.

Initially, with Mother on their side, Mei wanted to test the waters and let out some of her pent up aggression on the floating orbs of light that had appeared before them, but with how calm everything has turned out, some hostility might end up being counter productive. For now, Mei just had to listen and take in as much information as she could. The violence could wait for now.

From what she knew so far, unless proven otherwise, only Mother was a true creature of this world. It was understandable that she remained silent. Mei on the other hand didn't have that luxury; being to quiet might make her seem suspicious. Slowly creeping forward, it was her turn to make herself known. Squeaks and teeth chattering shifted the throat clearing before it turned into coherent words.

"A-a-a-i'm Tan Mei." She tried her best to stutter and feign nervousness as she spoke in a faint whisper-like voice. It was unlikely that non-chinese would be familiar with Mei's reputation, but there was nothing wrong with being cautious.

"B-b-but you can ca-call me M-m-mei". She shuffled her hands while staring on the ground, only taking occasional glimpses at the others around her.

"I wa-was a nu-nurse back at Ch-china." It wasn't a complete lie though. There was point in time where Mei was forced to pretend to be one for what seemed to be over half a year. If she recalled correctly, it involved stealing files on certain patients at a local hospital in Guangzhou.

Personal Dossier

Name
Hiwofuku Akane

Age
Fourteen

Origin
Shimanto, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan

Physical Description
Height-wise, Akane is probably considered average for girls her age, standing at around 5 feet and 3 inches. Weighing 128 pounds, she's more lean than just thin. As her father, she possesses two inch-long horns located on her forehead, crimson red eyes, and pointed ears. Akane's upper canines are more prominent while her nails are a bit longer and sharper than usual; she finds it a point to keep them filed with the edges dulled. Her skin has a pinkish hue and appears perpetually flushed.

Akane sports a bob out of practicality as she dislikes it when her hair gets in her way; when more dynamic activities are involved, she tries to keep her hair tied in a ponytail. With her eyes in a partial droop along her typical flat expression that sometimes borders disinterest, Akane's general demeanor is casual and laid-back. This is also made evident by her choice in clothes that are loose and comfortable but most likely questionable fashion-wise.

Characterization
Stoic
Straightforward
Logical
Practical
Reserved
Determined
Unapproachable

Personal History
Akane's parents were Hiwofuku Naomasa and Kokoro Harumi, the co-owners and executive chefs of Koge, a well-known restaurant in Roppongi that specializes in both teppanyaki and sushi. Their claim to fame was the dining experience that they provided; their skilled use of their quirks and the synergy between the two, along with their bright and welcoming personalities, were the reasons behind their extraordinary level of showmanship and extravagant performances in food preparation.

With her quirk turning out as it did, Akane was meant to join them and eventually carry on the legacy that they had established. Unfortunately, being overexposed to such an environment had been counter productive to their wishes. At the young age of nine, it was apparent that Akane grew jaded of the culinary world; whenever topics related to it were brought up, the boredom and disinterest in her eyes were hard to miss. As much as Akane's parents wanted to address this, they were too preoccupied with work. Although she didn't take this against them as they were simply doing what they loved, Akane couldn't help but feel envious. She wanted something to be passionate about, but sadly she had nothing.

Given what we know now, the reason behind Akane's application to Ishin Academy was still unclear. Several years back, while being driven home from school, the vehicle Akane was in - along with others beside them, were caught in an accident caused by a rampaging criminal. She couldn't recall all the details as it all happened so fast, but she remembered finding herself hanging upside down with only the straps around her waist and across her chest keeping her from falling. She was lightheaded and a bit dizzy as blood was trickling down from her face. Turning her head towards the window, Akane had a good view of the individual responsible for the situation she was in. Still flailing it's arms and screaming at the top of its lungs as it was being suppressed by several heroes. Instead of feeling awestruck or something of the like for what she was witnessing, Akane couldn't help but focus on her disdain and anger for the criminal. However, before the hate she was experiencing became deep seeded, it was immediately plucked out by feelings of respect and admiration. But for who exactly? Well, as the fight had continued to go on, a few more heroes had appeared and turned to the civilians. The concern that was directed towards her felt genuine; the outreached hand extended to her made her feel safe. As Akane's consciousness gradually faded, she smiled. Finally, she knew what type of person she had wanted to become.

Character Development & Conceptualization
Currently, Akane is determined and believes that she has the right understanding of what heroism is about, but unknowingly lacks a holistic grasp on it. I wanted her to start of as the type of character who abides to and enforces the "rules", or at least she'll attempt to. Her struggles at the start would be communication-related and on how she presents herself, given her somewhat tactless manner of speaking and general vibe. Although willing to collaborate with others, she isn't the type to blindly follow instructions. If need be, she would challenge ideas conflicting with her own. I wanted a character who was loose and laid-back in demeanor but stiff and strict in belief. I hope that Akane would learn from others more and be open-minded in what her idea of being a hero is all about.

Quirk-wise, I took inspiration from Izuku Midoroya's parents. I always appreciated their quirks and had ideas on how a combination of the two would turn out. Akane's quirk is more of control-based and paced, instead of heavy in power like Endeavor's or Todoroki's. Eventually, working on strengthening the destructiveness of her quirk would be nice, but that would be for sometime down the road. For now, fine tuning and control is how Akane approaches her ability and what she probably needs to learn first would be how to use her flames in a practical and versatile way.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Akane's quirk, Spitfire, is a combination of her parents' that grants her the ability to generate flames from within her and release it from her mouth in the form of streams, spheres, or cones. She can further manipulate the flames she produces using hand or arm gestures to guide its trajectory, concentration, or to simply extinguish it. Drawbacks to Akane's quirk would include it's dependence on her respiratory function, namely her breath control, diaphragmatic strength, and respiratory capacities. When physical fatigued and out of breath, her quirk is unable to efficiently function. Given the nature of her quirk, not only does Akane possess an inherent resistance to heat, her core body temperature is also greatly above average. This gives her skin a flushed appearance and makes it warm to touch.

Other Talents & Attributes
  • Akane has caused her fair share of burns over the years, but it did not take long before she learned on how to address these types of injuries. What was once an obligation turned into a general interest as she continued her training on the practice of providing first aid.
  • Despite her fondness of sweets, Akane is physically fit as she regularly exercises daily. She usually focuses on calisthenics and aerobic exercises. During middle school, Akane was a member of both the track & field, and swimming team.
Currently 1600H where I'm at. Finishing up my sheet's history, hopefully by tonight. Just wanted to mention, I'm going for fire breathing. o3o

Edit: App's up. ^^

Xiao Mei

Overcoming the feral trance she head previously succumbed to, Mei found herself flooded by feelings of relief and disbelief as she stared at the lifeless fanged lizard corpse. She was surprised that despite her recklessness, not only did she remain unscathed, but victorious as well. Mei was well aware that she was only as successful as she was because of both her mother and sister. Indeed, there was power in numbers. Given her current condition, it was the best choice for Mei follow. Without them, she probably would have been feasted on by some other creature by now.

Before partaking of the meal her body had been longing for, Mei turned towards her mother and slowly approached her. Mei was uncertain of how she was doing; if her death was inevitable, Mei was more than prepared to hasten it as an act of kindness. It was the least she could do given how her mother had raised and protected her during her first few days of life. Fortunately, this wasn't the case. Although deep, her breathing was stable. Aside from a few twitching muscles, her body has calmed down. In her attempt to comfort her, Mei softly brushed her face against her mother.

As Mei's sister had taken her place catering to their mother's needs, she took the opportunity to finally satiate her hunger. In front of her a nest of leathery lizard eggs were ripe for the picking, but although profusely salivating, Mei couldn't find it in her to just dive in and eat. However, it wasn't because of her conscious telling her otherwise or any overwhelming feelings of guilt. It was because of the mother lizard that was lying just beside the best of eggs; it was bothering her. Although becoming paler by the second, Mei approached the reptile from behind and attacked the helpless body, gnashing her teeth around its neck, worsening the wound her sister had given it. It may have cruel and disrespectful in a way, but if the opportunity presented itself, Mei didn't want to take any chances. It was always in her nature to do so.

Covered in blood, she helped herself to a lizard egg, quickly guzzling down the contents before proceeding to another. As much as she enjoyed the milk from her mother, the hearty and savory flavor that came from the eggs was exactlty what her body was looking for. Later on, Mei's attention was redirected towards her sister. She wasnt sure, but in between the squeaks and the chatters, Mei could've sworn she had heard an actual human voice. Whether or not it was her mind playing tricks on her, the message her sister wanted to convey had come through. With a nod and a few squeaks of her own, she agreed to her sister's plan. Mei wanted to remain as inconspicuous as possible for now; the last thing she needed was for her kin to think of her as some sort of outsider or anomaly.

Mei stood beside her sister and gestured with her head that she was ready to continue to explore the cave.

@SilverPaw@Zeroth
@Zeroth Also, I'm assuming mother rat is still seizing?
I thought he was hinting that Lorek needed to look for fatter greens.
@Searat You could check out the first IC post by Zeroth; it has a section for a player who was a Dire Rat. Its contents seemed non-specific so both SilverPaw and myself made use of that for our rats.

At the last part, it mentions that the currently in the RP, it's been a week since rebirth. So probably you could mention how your character reacted and handled the whole being a rat thing before deciding on what to do at the present?

I feel anything, as long as it's reasonable based on the premise set up for us, is allowable.
@SilverPaw Gotta catch up with everyone else. Hoping to get that juicy bipedal form sometime down the road.
@SilverPaw So far, I'm liking what I'm reading.
@Zeroth

Allowing her instincts to take over, Mei found her movements to be surprisingly fluid. Be it over the stony paths, under the rocky crags, and through dirty tunnels and crevices, she was able to manuever though them with utmost to ease.

However, Mei focus was suddenly disturbed by a familiar scent and the sound of footsteps approaching her from behind. It was a dire rat Mei was acquainted with, at least in appearance. They came from the same litter; it would be correct to refer to her as Mei's sister. Mei was certain that she was alone when she had left the den; her sister being able to catch up just showed off how quick she actually was. Mei had little interest in her for now, but her speed could come in handy later on.

Running side by side, Mei remained quiet and continued the hunt for their mother.

Everything happened so quickly, but given the situation, Mei's optionns were limited. The moment her mother had been bitten by the massive lizard, driven by her instincts, she immediately sprung into action.

"No. Don't. We just have to run away!" Mei thought to herself, but unfortunately, her body failed to listen.

Lunging forward and foaming by the mouth, she let out a feral hiss before bearing both her fangs and claws at her mother's assailant.

"Stop! I said stop!" Her screams echoed inside her head as her body continued to move by itself.
