Somewhere in the forest at the base of the mountain a sleeping bag hammock was tied firmly between two trees, the mustard yellow color of the thick insulated fabric made the sight reminiscent of a huge cocoon. Inside was the sleeping form of a young student, Kenji Ito.

Kenji woke from the sunlight seeping through the fabric of his sleeping bag that cold morning. Day 3 of his personal journey to Jigokuraku Academy, for the past days he had walked by himself from an entirely different prefecture to finally reach Kirisama. It was a self-imposed challenge to turn the transit into it's own workout regime. The night before he had reached the base of the mountain, but decided to set up camp and wait until morning to make the climb and see the academy itself. This morning he would be expected by the staff, but as far as he knew none of the students even knew about him yet. Suddenly the realization that he was far behind schedule dawned on him just as the sun had and he began to panic. Suddenly trashing about inside the bag caused a supporting branch to snap on one of the trees and he tumbled out of his slumber.

He had been planning to be one of the first, if not the first to arrive at the academy, but as he reached into his pockets to retrieve his old flip phone those hopes were dashed. The phone displayed the time 7:35, enough time to reach the top by 8:00 but by the time he would make it up most of the other students surely would have been there. However this gave him no reason to slow down on his way up the long stair climb to the top.

“Pathetic!” Kenji shouted at himself as he quickly rolled up his sleeping bag and went into a full sprint to reach the stairs. “I wont be known as the first tardy student in Jigokuraku Academy’s history!”

Unforeseen to Kenji however, was how he appeared as he finally reached the top of the stairs. He was on time, sure, but when he got there he had run out of stamina and was barely moving at the top steps. To students already waiting at the top, what they might have seen was the sight of an overweight chump that only barely survived stairs.

What a hero.

tl;dr

Kenji, tired from the several day hike from his home prefecture to the base of the mountain, woke up later than he intended and nearly made himself late for the first day. However, determined to not be the first tardy student in the school's history he carried himself nearly all the way up the mountain in a full sprint, before nearly collapsing at the top.

Beetle! Kenji shares unique traits with some species of beetles, granting him a tough exoskeleton that is produced from his pores, smell sensitive antennae and super strength!

Description:
Kenji is a timid yet friendly young man. He tries to stay out of trouble and conflict but parodoxically lands himself in those situations by pure happenstance. Kenji is a bit air-headed to a fault but tries very hard to work with his peers, thus he prefers being around a stronger personality that can call the shots for him in a difficult spot.
Coming from a rather sheltered background, he is a bit naive about the world and sees hope even in situations where all seems lost. Similarly when faced with a person of less than good intentions he would rather try to talk them down than solve the conflict by force.
Kenji has a long history of being bullied and treated as an outcast for his appearance, and will often take things said to him in the worst way possible. Still, he wont judge them for it.
The only area he shows strong motivation for is the road to becoming a pro hero, and all the training and experience that comes with it. However there is always a small lingering sadness in his expression when he is forced to use his quirk in a violent way.

Quirk: Puppeteer! Meisa can animate small objects and control them like her own body, activated by kissing the object. Usually done on toys due to the ease of movement they offer.
Quirk Details: The animated toys can sense just like a person can, that information is layered on top of her real senses and gets more chaotic and hard to focus on with the more toys she tries to keep active.
Description: Meisa is short and petite in stature and keeps her hair cut short. The most memorable trait about her is her smile, a mouth full of shark teeth that would give anyone a hint of the sadistic personality behind it.

She is a shut in and avoids other people, not because she’s shy but because she has a general dislike for others. Meisa even goes as far as to make it appear that her dorm is vacant and dark at all hours of the day. As long as she can help it she will opt to never leave her space and sends her toys to fetch whatever she needs for her.

Meisa has a fixation on watching people without their knowledge, placing unassuming toys throughout campus to watch and listen through. She insists that it’s to better know the students in the hero class, but won’t argue that she does get a lot of entertainment from it anyway and is not above blackmailing a classmate with gossip to put the game in her favor. On top of that, she gets a kick out of testing her various tools out on human subjects and never seems concerned with potential injury.

Despite this, has mostly innocent goals and wants to become a professional designer for hero costumes and tools with a focus on weaponry. She seems eager to help the hero class succeed... but maybe from a distance.

Pretty bare bones currently as I'd like to develop him through natural game playing. But here he is.

Build: Stocky THICK SKIN
Quirk: Beetle! Along with his normal skeleton, Kenji is also protected by a thick insect-like exoskeleton surrounding his body. He can also lift several times his own body weight, a true strongman!

***Quirk Details: His quirk, Beetle, grants him a tough exoskeleton made of chitin that looks natural enough that it could fool anyone into believing he is just overweight. The biggest giveaway is the elytron splitting his back down the middle like beetle wings. He is also much stronger than he looks, capable of lifting up to 5 times his own bodyweight. (1000lbs!) However, if he sustains too much damage to his exoskeleton it will harden and make it impossible for Kenji to move without molting and revealing his vulnerable second form.

***Quirk Development:
With training, Kenji hopes to reach the full potential proportional strength of a rhinoceros beetle and be able to lift 850 times his own weight! It’s not very realistic though, he admits. He sets his sights on 100 times his own weight.
The possibility of further increasing the strength of his natural armour through method of repeated forced molts has been discussed but it is inadvisable due to the physical and psychological turmoil of shedding his skin.
As Kenji has not yet reached adulthood, doctors theorize that he could further develop his quirk much like an adolescent beetle entering its final molt. His elytron may one day develop semi-functional insectoid wings.

Description:
Kenji Ito is by first glance a plain looking overweight high school student. He has shaggy dark brown hair and shady brown eyes. He wears glasses for reading sometimes but doesn’t really need them otherwise. While fully dressed his mutation type quirk is not immediately obvious until you realize that those two strands of hair sticking up and flicking around aren’t exactly hair but antennae. A quick tap on the shoulder would reveal that his skin is actually very tough, very smooth and absolutely unyielding to any attempts of pinching. If he were to take off his shirt you could see the seams of his exoskeleton around his joints and down his back separating at the spine.

Those that don’t know him well enough would assume that he is a very formal, studious, and even shy young man. Kenji is self-conscious of his appearance due to his quirk leading people to assume he is overweight, even though he prides himself on his healthy diet and workout regime. Any prodding based on this assumption is met with a demonstration of his raw natural strength, though he usually apologizes for making a scene shortly after.
