The world is under threat by an apparent zombie menace. Following the nature of any sort of disaster, this virus epidemic seemed to arise out of the blue. It had been festering overseas until it spread worldwide. Police were unable to stop the concurrent bloodbath. Scientists were at a stupor, unable to find even the semblance of a cure.

Now this virus was a little different from the usual zombie apocalypse trope popular media tends to dish out. They're not all slow and shuffling since the virus manifests differently in different people. They can also be fast and agile; worse of all, they learn. They're moving with the sole purpose of killing and infecting in order to further their newfound species.

You read that right. The virus gave way to evolved species that transcend all human aspects. And they will stop at nothing to make sure they survive. Will you?

Skyline Academy is a juvenile detention center and just as the name suggests, it houses persons under the age of majority (18) who have committed a crime. This academy is built to function as a secure prison.

There are four main buildings. Two residential buildings located on opposite ends of the area; the female and male dorms. These are divided into 12 rooms, designed to hold 4 inmates each if there were to be a full house. The rest of the buildings contain the solitary confinement rooms, classrooms, a dining hall, and administrative offices. The academy currently houses 144 residents in all--20 guards, 124 inmates (74 male, 50 female).

The inmates follow a strict, constant schedule. Wake-up call is at 6:30AM, thereafter the convicts are required to complete domestic chores. They start by cleaning the floor, washing up, roll-call, morning cleaning, meditation, breakfast, roll-call, morning assembly, exercise, vocational training, studies and lectures, roll-call, meditation, lunch, free time and then further studies.

The facility is surrounded by high walls all around and is located on a cliff; perfectly designed to keep its inmates in. Aside from the front entrance, jumping over the walls would result in immediate death at the hands of rocks or the raging waves down below.

There are watchtowers along the walls of the facility; one in each corner. Here there are guards stationed in order to keep an eye on the whole field at all times. Guards also act as the teachers during the studies and lectures.

A few of the infected have evolved into specific species with unique traits; below the ones encountered most often are explained.

These infected have evolved to resemble and mimic canine-like features. Aside from their obvious speed, these creatures are cunning. Rather than outright attack--they're a patient bunch--in a frenzy, they would plan your capture. These infected also understand the notion of storing food; your death would be an excruciatingly slow one if you were to be caught by these guys. They designate an area as a pantry where they store away the remains, always making sure to cripple the prey by eating the limbs first.

If your character can outrun a dog at full speed, then you might be able to escape from these guys. So while they are fast, it isn't impossible to escape them.

These guys right here? Hideous af. And I wish that was the only thing to them, you know? The fact that they're so dang ugly it's enough to kill you on the spot. But nope; these sealion-like morbosities are characterized by their bulky physique. All that blubber and fat makes it close to impossible to off one of these monsters in one hit.

Additionally, as their appearance suggests, these creatures are able to breathe and swiftly move underwater. But, this makes them vulnerable on land seeing as how their movements are restricted. Do note, however, that they also have arms (ew) so they can and will grab onto you.

These are the most common and most abundant of the infected. They still preserve their humanlike appearance and whichever skill it may have had before becoming infected. For example, if the human had previously been a bodybuilder with killer muscles, then its infected form would have ridiculous strength. Or if Usain Bolt ever became infected, good luck outrunning that one right there.

What sets apart these infected from the more evolved ones is the fact that a good number of them would still go about their days as if they were still normal humans. They're still driven by their insatiable hunger, but instead of roaming endlessly, they'd be taking a stroll in the park or go about some grocery shopping. This is extremely dangerous because one could easily be tricked and believe that they're not infected.

The brunette clicked her pen twice, tapping her foot silently on the floor repeatedly. "Eridania," she rubbed her temples as a crisp sigh escaped her lips. "You promised me that you'd share your problems," Heather rubbed her palms together before continuing, "but you haven't spoken a single word since we sat here." Eridania's eyes stared tiredly at the glass window, rubbing her finger tips along the frame as she watched the gloomy weather take place.

“It's been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will.”

The seated girl turned to face Heather, a smile rising to her eyes. "Don't you just love how you can sit still for hours and hours and hours--even days! Or months! Or years! And never get bored." Eridania grabbed her strands of hair, wrapping them around her face as she kept rambling on. "An imagination of a person can sure keep the person busy! I know because I've experienced such delighted situations of said imaginations! Oh Ms. Chang you have to try it."

It was one thing after another that escaped the full lips of Eridania. As if her tall lanky figure and the disheveled long hair didn't already tarnish the impressions many had of her--the talkative mouth of her's added more to the list. Heather leaned back into the chair, a third click to the pen as she pushed it down on her clipboard. "Well, you'd have to tell me how. Not many can have such amazing imaginations as yours, Eridania." The girl giggled, letting the hairballs that filled up her clutched hands fall to her calves. "I could go on and on!" She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the armchair. "I'm so glad I've found my own kindred spirit! Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world!"

Sparkles swam their way out her brown eyes as she went out of her way to grab the therapists hands, "Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?" She paused before Heather could respond, turning her attention to the window. "However, with such an interesting world we have--our imaginations sure can't compare to the reality we face." Eridania hands let go of Heather's, slumping back down on her chair with a disappointed face, "What boring weather."

And, with that, their session was done. No words were exchanged as Heather got up, giving Eridania's shoulder a squeeze before heading out.

With each click and tap to Heather's heals, Eridania closed her eyes and felt lost in the world she confided herself in. As if time went on for years, the last tap to Heather's heals ended off to a slam to the door.

As if on queue, Eridania bolted out of her chair and with a dance to her steps--she grabbed the hems of the curtains and wrapped them around her. "Oh sir Ronalds! Listen to the chirps of the trees as the leaves sing wonderful notes to us! Isn't it wonderful! Oh, how I love the weather of a sunny morning."

It wasn't sunny.

It was fall.

Eridania twirled as the white curtains hugged themselves on her waist, catching the stray strands of hair that fell from her shoulders. She giggled in delight, raising her hands in a princess manner, gleeing and blushing when the so-called-Sir-Ronald's lips kissed her fingertips.

She let the curtain fall to her side and with a skip to her step, Eridania left the room, heading her way to the cafeteria.

The adventure towards the cafeteria consisted of her humming tunes with a flow to her steps. Eridania's dark hair fell like a curtain of silk to the top of her ankles where the deep brown eyes captivated her sleepless nights. A tall slender build skidded to a stop of the entrance of the cafeteria, where her eyes traced each table; a thought racing through her mind--where should I sit?

Immediately, Eridania spotted out a figure in the distance. The sunglasses had caught her attention and her not being hungry, Eridania marched her way towards the person. She loudly pushed the chair back, hopping onto it and sitting down with a wide smile.

"Aren't you missing out on so so so so so so! Many wonderful images with those sunglasses!?"
