If it's any consolation, she's fairly contained in her Territory. But I agree with your assessment. As for Shinji, I don't think it's literal possession, but it has the same kind of effect.

I'm told Misty has always been like that, and I assume nobody is there to reel her in when it gets worse. Shinji on the other hand is taken over, effectively.
