Mandalore the Risen

"It seems the roles have reversed." I remove my helmet and shake out my short blonde hair. "We arrived as the conquerors and battered the Republic defenses. Now we blockade the planet, and it is the Republic that sends ships from outer systems to try and break our defenses." I smile. "And I am pleased to say we are holding out far better than them."

Zarka Saxon

I bow. "Excellent news. If only our fight here on the ground was going as well."

Mandalore the Risen

"You're talking about the dome? Clever thinking on the Chancellor's part, but a great drain on the planet's power grid. I imagine some of the lessor neighborhoods are going without power because of it. The coward alienates his own people in order to protect himself." I look to Temari. "And as I understand, the people are responding accordingly. How go the efforts of the Revolution?"
Mandalore the Risen

The Clan Rook fighters land on either side of my shuttle, and a small vanguard of Rook warriors, led by their Aliit'alor, Enra. The ramp of my shuttle lowers and I exit, along with my personal guard of Ori'ramikade.

Enra Rook

I kneel, and my vanguard follows. "Welcome to the front, Mand'alor. We have eagerly awaited your arrival."

Mandalore the Risen

I motion for her to stand. "And I have eagerly awaited the chance to finally put and end to Jorg Sucal and his Republic dogs. I trust you and the other Aliit'alor have been planning how to accomplish that?"

Enra Rook

I rise. "Yes, Mand'alor. Temari Ordo can explain in greater detail. Her years of strategy are invaluable to our war effort." I walk to the left of and slightly behind Mand'alor as we both make our way back into the makeshift command center.
Zarka Saxon

I raise an eyebrow. "Do I speak poorly? I was only commenting that now that she has arrived, our final push for Presidential Palace can begin. She will be leading the charge, after all."

Enra Rook

"We shouldn't keep her waiting." I brush a lock of black hair out of my face and head towards the doors to the landing pad, curtly motioning the other chiefs to follow. Zarka and Temari were both old and ornery warriors, and it was all too common for the old bulls to butt heads for dominance. I was still young compared to them, though I was still old enough to be Mand'alor's mother. Maybe one day I would become as prickly as the elders, but right now, I had the respect of my clan and the trust of Mand'alor. That was enough.
Khomo Fett

"My squad encountered one of them two days ago. High powered blaster cannons and personal ray shielding, not to mention armor that is highly resistant to blasters. Unlike their big brothers though, they've got a few weak points. A few well placed shots at their joints, or several rapid hits to the same area is enough to break through their shells. But to take advantage of that, you gotta get past the ray shields and survive the rapid fire volleys."

Enra Rook

"We'll manage. We always have, and we always will." Outside, the sound of ship engines descend towards the base can be heard. Through the window, the Clan Chiefs can see Mand'alor's personal shuttle and a escort of two Mandalorian starfighters flying down towards the penthouse landing pad.

Zarka Saxon

"Our 'sole ruler' finally joins us on the ground. Good. Now, perhaps, we can make some headway."
Enra Rook

"We have upgraded the turrents and Basilisks to be able to pierce the latest in Republic space craft armor... but these Sith Hunters have shells unlike anything we've seen before. We've encountered very few of them outside the shield, so it looks like the Chancellor is hoarding them close as a final defense. If we could get a piece of that armor, we might be able to work out a way to beat it."

Khomo Fett

"Hell, if we had a piece of that armor, we could reverse engineer it for our basilisks. Wouldn't that be something?"

Zarka Saxon

"It would, but first we need to down one, and that opportunity rarely presents itself. The Pubs see fit to send only their troopers and lesser war droids to face us. Like Enra said, they are keeping their big guns in reserve."
Zarka Saxon

“I was, and I must say it astounds me just how disloyal these Revolutionaries are. A trusted leader of their organization turns traitor, then gets murdered himself by a third party? For the heart of the Republic, this is a very savage planet.”

Enra Rook

“Some fruits look beautiful on the outside, but only after you peel away the layers do you discover the rot.” I look at Temari.
Enra Rook

“His mother too, the one they call Vette. She is skilled with machines and computers. She might prove useful in bringing the shield down stealthily.”

Khomo Fett

“Stealth is no fun. Why not set off an explosive? That’s the Mandalorian way.”

Zarka Saxon

“There will be plenty of time for pyrotechnics AFTER the Shield is down.” I look over the map again. “I assume Gavin will want to hand pick his own strike team? He knows them better than anyone. What about his sister?”
Zarka Saxon

A group of Clan Chiefs are gathered in the staging room of our hotel base. This is a private meeting between Mandalorians, so no Revolution members are present. I pace back and forth in front of the miniature hologram of the Senate District. There is a red zigzag line leading from the edge of the map to the center, where Presidential Palace sits. “So, the slum rats actually managed to find a way inside?”

Khomo Fett

My burned face contorts into as close to a smile as I can manage. “Yeah, the sewer system. The Pubs are so worried about protecting their tops, they ain’t watching what’s coming form below. Perfect for us to sneak up and bugger them in the backside.”

Zarka Saxon

“Only if the strike team we send is efficient enough to get in undetected and turn off the shields. I don’t put my stock in these Revolution criminals Mand’alor is forcing us to work with.”
Hayden Twilight

In one of the lower rooms of the Mandalorian hotel base, Jude and I are setting up our supplies. “The girl can take the bed. I’ll take the pullout couch. Jude, you get the floor.”

Korre

I sit on the bed, glaring at Hayden. “You keep calling me ‘the girl’ or ‘the vessel’. Is it because saying my name makes me a person? Saying my name makes you realize I’m not just some object, but a human that you have kidnapped and are threatening?”

Hayden Twilight

“Who’s being threatened? I gave you the comfortable bed, didn’t I? I’m kept you safe. I’m just not pampering you like my family did.” Behind me, the door open, and I turn to see a Mandalorian standing there. “Can we help you?”

Kamari Ordo

I step into the room. “I heard Cosen had recruited the famous Hayden Twilight. I had to see for myself.” I look her up and down. “You look nothing like the holos.”

Hayden Twilight

“It’s the hair, I’m sure. Had it cut a while ago, and still waiting for it to grow back.”

Kamari Ordo

“I see.” It wasn’t just the hair though. Hayden looked a lot older than the wanted holograms showed. She’s clearly been through a lot in the last year and a half. My eyes quickly glance over the teenage boy I assume to be Jude Sucal, and then I notice the girl on the bed. “And who is that?”

Jude Sucal

“She’s our business. We are meeting with Cosen and Gavin later to talk about what to do with her.”

Kamari Ordo

“So she’s a prisoner then?”

Hayden Twilight

“It’s for her own safety and the safety of the Galaxy. Your boss, Temari, agreed to our terms.”

Kamari Ordo

“She also made it clear that we had to keep you in line. Cosen and Gavin are on our side, but they are still under heavy watch. You two we trust even less, and I find this whole idea extremely dishonorable. The Mandalorians should have no part in threatening people who can’t defend themselves.”

Hayden Twilight

“She is far from defenseless, I assure you. The child she carries is extremely dangerous.”

Korre

“He is not! You are only speculating out of fear of what you don’t know!”

Hayden Twilight

I sigh heavily. Not this stupid argument again. “Don’t you understand that it can never have a normal life? Why are you so keen to protect it when you know it can only lead to more problems?”

Korre

“Because I know that HE isn’t a threat. My son will not be born evil. That isn’t how it works. No matter how much of a monster this Sith Emperor was, he wasn’t born like that.”

Jude Sucal

“I don’t know about that. I’ve heard stories. They say he murdered his father and tortured his mother as a toddler, and conquered his home planet as a young child.” I give Korre a look. “The way I see it, that baby already has a head start on Vitiate, seeing as how it killed Ryder before it was even born.”

Kamari Ordo

My heart drop. “Wait... what did you say?”

Jude Sucal

“This ‘defenseless’ girl killed Ryder Twilight. He learned that this baby was intended to be the reborn Sith Emperor, whom he defeated during the war. He tried to stop it, so it lashed out and killed him on the spot. Already, it’s too powerful to control.”

Korre

“Ryder tried to kill me first! My son was just trying to protect us! He’s not evil!”

Kamari Ordo

I step back, bracing myself against the doorway. I’m afraid that if I don’t, I’ll fall over. My head is rushing, and so many emotions are bubbling to the surface. “You.... My fa.... You did wha....?” My hand gropes for the door controls, and I eventually manage to shut down. Barely keeping my emotions in check, I stalk off down the hall towards my quarters.

Hayden Twilight

I cock an eyebrow. “Huh. What’s his problem?”

END OF SCENE
Becca Twilight

“At least that gives us a chance. If we can reach this command base, we might be able to stop them before they do... whatever it is they’re planning.”

Xanthippe Naberrie

“And if the Mandalorians try to stand in our way... let ME deal with them. They have never considered me an ally. If I fight my way inside and rescue Korre, you two may remain guiltless and maintain your alliance.”

Becca Twilight

“I would rather it not come to a fight, but I know they will not have their honor questioned. Making demands will only anger tthem, and they aren’t much for negotiation.” Sighs. “Let’s hope Ava arrives on planet soon and takes command of the ground forces. I’d rather treat with her than with a staunch traditionalist.”
