Notable traits: A deep understanding of the Eldritch and unknown. Not to mention, he knows a secret Occult language. And a ton of money. But I guess that doesn't really mean a whole lot now.

Abilities: Occult magic. For now, Ysran can only cast two spells, Eldritch Blast, a large ball of force and acidic darkness. Basically, a bowling ball made of acid is thrown at you. Really hard. The second spell is called Fishscales. It creates a layer of Scale-like armor over the skin. It looks a little weird, but it works. He's also pretty good at remembering things, as well as overall having good intellect.

Personality: Could be described as "Neutral Evil" he won't cause destruction and mayhem for the sake of it, but in the pursuit of knowledge and power, no price is to great to pay, even if it means resorting to things others may find "evil," Other than that, he is very curious, and a bit... Sociopathic, to say. His long exposure to the Eldritch have... affected him. It's not enough to be easily noticed, but if you pay close enough attention...

History: Oh boy, here goes. Ysran was born to a pair of successful harbor owners. The owners of Stormreach Harbor. A large and popular harbor, the three were very well off. But like any good protagonist, his parents died at an early age, and the family friends raised Ysran in the ways of finance and business. He went to the best schools money could buy, and his intellect was always prominent. But again, like any good protagonist, he lost interest, and decided to roam the world. Eventually, joining an archeological team, he delved into ruins, where he discovered an old leather-bound tome, detailing the secrets of the Eldritch.

Taking it home, he learned of a secret Occult language, and eventually met others like him. Together they would explore ruins, collect artifacts, and learn of ancient secrets. Upon returning home, Ysran would meet his end from a Sparta kick from a fanatic of the Occult. The harbor owner drowning. How ironic. As the salty ocean water filled his lungs, his senses faded, and everything faded to black.

But that is not where his story ends, however. Ysran sat up, gasping for air, his head swimming with arcane and Occult patterns. He was in some sort of old-timey inn. Exploring the room, he found a mirror, and quickly realized his appearance had completely changed! Asking around, apparently, he'd been here for a couple of days. After walking around town, he'd be directed to some sort of guild. Deciding that he had nothing better to, he joined in. Who knows? It may help him get home.

Other: Ysran carries a Machete, and his spells are committed to memory.

Ysran gave a shrug as he was asked the question. "Eh. You get used to it. This kind of stuff was pretty normal for me. Then again it was more about business stuff rather than finding teams..." He looked to the side and reflected on his time at the harbor. Guess that was all gone now. He almost missed the heckling business madness, but he always did enjoy his life of adventure. Perhaps this was some blessing in disguise? Then again, perhaps not.

He sat back in his chair with his arms behind his head. "So, any more questions? Otherwise I'm gonna dose off until we've all come together again."

June 3rd, 1984. Pekin, IL. Seemingly overnight, someone has put up several flyers. They can be found all over the city, on car windows, taped to the occasional building, but most are found on posts on street corners. You know, the things that hold up the electric wires and what not? Yeah, those. The flyers read as follows:

My name is Detective Harris. As many of you know, our city is quiet, and mostly peaceful. However, things are beginning to change. Recently there's been a strange string of murders going on throughout the city, and surrounding area. Most of these murders are the same. Limbs missing, bodies torn open, almost as if they'd been attacked by an animal. But what leads us to believe that that theory is incorrect, are a few key points of evidence: For starters, a viscous black slime is found at the crime scene. Our experts are currently saying whatever it is, doesn't exist on the periodic table. Secondly, an animal would use its teeth or claws to tear the bodies apart. However we've found that the removal of limbs was almost surgical, and with a blade. And as for the tearing, it does appear that claws were used, but with extreme precision. We're likely looking for a serial killer who collects limbs as a sort of trophy, and tears thier victims apart by surprise, seemingly. These murders are seemingly random, and none of the victims are connected to each other. We believe these are victims of opportunity and advise people to travel in groups, and even to carry a weapon of sorts. Be on the lookout. We've no eye witnesses to any attacks, and have no idea what this killer looks like.

June 5th- three more victims have been found. Same M.O. However this time one of the victims were extremely malformed. Purplish skin coloring on extremities, and enormous lower jaw with shark-like teeth, and the fingers and toes having long, sharp claws. The city is starting to become paranoid. People are afraid of leaving their houses, and some refuse contact with others. The numbers are growing by the day. Will you join them? Or will you find out just what's behind all of this?

Greetings! Welcome to Murder in the Footlights! As stated above, there's a strange string of strange murders going on.

A few things to note:

This takes place on earth, so that means humans only.

This is the 80's, so a lot of tech we have today doesn't exist, or isn't as good.

There will be "magic" but not in the typical sense. No fireballs, lightning bolts, or any of that. This "magic" is not known about by regular people. Starting, none of you can wield it, or know about it, but it will play a part later.

This is all Eldritch shenaniganity if you haven't figured it out yet.

This is my first time GMing, so have low standards.

We'll handle CS's in the official thread, if this gets enough interest.

The main idea of this RP is up to you: survive, hang out with Detective Harris, or go off on your own. Each will have its consequences, both good and bad.

For now, feel free to ask questions as I've undoubtedly left some important details out.

@Achronum Ysran threw a two-fingered salute out and whistled. "Team four's right here." Looks like he was paired up with another magic user. Interesting. Once more Ysran tried to focus a spell. He decided to try the other. Whispering, so that no other person could hear, "Zodiladare..." A large purple and black orb appeared in his hand hidden below the table, out of sight. The spell seemed to work fine. Good. He closed his hand, and the orb shrank into nothingness.

A short feline-like woman began passing out tablets of some sort. His specialty! Let's see what... oh. They're electronic. Damn. So, a number would pop up on here to tell him what group he was is? Huh. Looks like two others knew their numbers and shouted it out to the group. Ysran looked down. Four. Group four. Here's hoping he'd be on a team with someone intelligent. Or, perhaps not? A total buffoon could easily be manipulated. Guess he'd have to find out.

He took another sip of his drink and scanned around once more. Sure were a lot of magic users. He could almost... feel their magic. But that was it. He couldn't tell much else. Maybe with further studies he could get more specific. For now though, he'd likely need to work on his own magic. Did he have a mana pool? Could he only cast them twice per day? With any luck, the answer would be clear.
