Gabriel Moreau - Mountains

For the most part, an avalanche wasn't something that Gabriel had worried about. Not because he didn't fear it, but rather because it wasn't the biggest issue on his mind. It was the titans. As resolved as he was to defend the wall, or so he told himself, the titans were something he feared immensely. He continued to think of the nightmare that plagued his dreams the night prior, like it was some kind of parasite that burrowed deeply through his thoughts. He looked over to Tanner, his heart beginning to slow down for once. Tanner had a soothing presence to Gabriel, causing the boy to slow down a bit and to walk close to the smaller boy. He smiled down gently at the boy, stealthily reaching for a hand underneath his cloak. Even if it was as cold as ever outside, their hands seemed to warm up quickly. Gabriel wasn't sure if it was because of himself or Tanner, but it didn't matter much to him. What seemed hilarious to Gabriel however was the difference in their hand size. While Gabriel was a giant, Tanner seemed so small and fragile. It was an adorable thing to him, but he decided to keep that to himself, not wanting to grab any unwanted attention from any of the others. His fingers slowly slid in between the gaps of Tanner's and gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

The trip down was relatively peaceful, aside from the shouts of others giving orders, or the occasional fall onto the ground. Gabriel was beginning to feel at ease; that was until the guides began to shout something that sent his heart sinking. An avalanche was not something Gabriel had worried about...until now. He looked up, spotting the rushing wall of white that slowly became worse and worse through every second it descended upon them. Looking down at Tanner, he picked the small boy up, heaving him up onto his back, and ran down towards the safe zone as quickly as he could. Gabriel wasn't particularly fast, but he made up for it with his strength as he plowed through the snow with little effort. He looked around, as if trying to spot any familiar face, but all that he could see were fleeing soldiers coming from all directions. "Damn it....damn it! Stay calm Gabriel..."

The feeling of dread began to creep up his spine as he descended even faster. The sound of the avalanche charging towards them only helped to increase Gabriel's heart rate as he looked upon the safe zone with eager eyes. Noticing a random soldier fall onto the ground, Gabriel placed Tanner a bit ahead of him and gave him a gentle push, as if trying to get him to move towards the safe zone without him. The courage within Gabriel surfaced as he trudged even deeper into the snow, grabbing the unknown soldier out from the snow with a strong grip onto their coat, and yanked them out from underneath. "Come on! You're a soldier! Move!" He yelled out, helping them to their feet, and started his way towards Tanner, his eyes glued to the small, blonde figure. Keep moving...don't stop...if you stop, you're dead. You can't protect them. Wait...them? Is Reese safe? Is Olivia safe!? Damn it, I should have checked! There was no time to think...only to act. He pushed forward, looking around him as he tried to spot his companions.

As soon as the signal was given by Maize to leave, Eli had hopped off of his chair quickly. He stretched his arms out, preparing himself for the journey as quickly as he could. He watched the others leave and noticed Arin bow to him. He give her a wide smile and bowed his head in return. Of course, what he didn't know was that royalty weren't necessarily meant to boy in any fashion to another person, especially if they weren't noble themselves. Of course, Eli didn't care much for that, and took to doing so as a showing of kindness. After everyone was gone, Eli took his back and began to make his way outside. He was stopped when the arms of his father came upon him and embraced him. At first, he almost panicked, but as soon as he realized who it was that held him, he calmed down. "I'll see you soon, son." Eli laughed slightly, turning around, and returning the hug. "I'll be home before you even know it, dad." With that, Eli walked outside to join the others.

The first thing he noticed was Jauna practicing with her sword. He had always thought it strange that a handmaid would learn how to fight, but he never did question in. He enjoyed watching the displays of skill she exhibited, even if they weren't all that great compared to those who had been out in real combat. "Walls don't count, Jauna!" He called out to her teasingly, before turning around to head for a horse. Without even realizing it, he was in front of Rhea and Icarus. His smile remained on his face, but the boy grew extremely pale, and seemed to shake. Without another word, he turned in the other direction, and hopped onto a horse, riding it forward to get away as far as possible from the wyvern. On the outside, he appeared almost calm from the beasts presence, but deep down inside, he felt his heart sink like a rock into his stomach. No matter how many times he'd see Icarus, the thought of being burnt and eaten alive always warped his mind, giving him a terrible fear of wyverns and dragons. At least dragons weren't real....hopefully? The thought was broken when he noticed the Bard greeting him.

Eli thought the man was an unorthodox pick for a party. He heard stories of heroes and what-not going on grand journeys with warriors of old, but never had he heard of a musician joining in on the fight. He rode alongside him as he followed Maize from a distance. Noticing that the man wanted to talk, he grinned, and extended his hand out to shake. "I think you're an excellent musician. It's very nice to meet you...uhm...what was your name?" Eli was slightly embarrassed that he didn't remember the man's name, but he couldn't recall if he had said it or not. Hopefully he hadn't. As he waited for the man to respond, he looked about at the other members, his blue eyes gazing at each and every one of them for a short while.

Gabriel hung his head low for a few seconds until Tanner walked up behind him, placing his shoulders on his own. The boy almost tensed up immediately, but just as soon as he had, he calmed down after realizing who it was. Tanner spoke to him about talking over his issue, as if it could solve it. It wasn't that easy, though. It was a terrible thought to bring up, no matter how much he tried to toughen himself up to the possibility. He sighed, looked back up at her, and smiled. His face looked slightly burnt all the way to the bottom of his ears when Tanner's arms wrapped around his shoulder. "T-Thanks, Tanner. We can talk about it on the way down the the slope. If we're late, we'll get chewed out." After gazing about for a few seconds, making sure the room was cleared (or at the very least nobody was looking), Gabriel leaned in and laid a small kiss on Tanner's forehead. "Let's hurry up and-" Before he could finish, Reese came in, and sat across from the two. He listened to Reese carefully and waved his hands. "It's fine, Reese. I remember the call....I've just been a little on edge lately. Sick, too...I guess."

He stood up and walked to the other side, giving Reese a more-than-light punch to the side of his arm and smiled lightly. "Just don't do it again unless there's a real titan or else I'll snap your arm." Gabriel thought a joke like that would be enough to scare Reese. He was never serious in his threats, but boy did he leave little to the imagination. He stared down at the two for a bit and beckoned them to follow, his smile fading away. "Let's hurry up and go. The cold won't be as bad as it was last night, but we still need to hurry up and get ready. Eat if you need to; I can't right now. My stomach is killing me." His eyes lingered on Tanner for a few seconds, as if to say something further, but he couldn't find the words to say it. With that, he walked out, and headed back to their cabin to change and pack up for the trip down the slope.

Eli was about to speak up when a young man spoke of a man named Maize. His attention turned to him and he raised a brow, unsure of who Maize really was. The only military-like person that he had known well enough was Rhea. In response, he looked up to her, as if trying to find an answer on who Maize was. After a few seconds, he looked back at the others, and began to speak. First, he looked to Gorou and seemed to go a little pale. "W-Well....I believe we'll be...uh.....sailing." It was obvious that he had some trouble with going out to sea, if it wasn't already obvious enough from the way he acted. "I just hope that.....it goes w-well, yes?" He laughed uneasily for a few second, then looked over to Sirian, deciding to let Rhea speak to Albus about what time they would leaving for their journey. "Well...to be honest with you, I don't know how long we'll be gone. I believe we'll be out for quite some time, though. It is a long walk after all...and....sailing." He grew a little pale again from the thought and pushed his dish away, unable to really eat at the moment. He looked up over at the Priest after she spoke and weakly smiled, a small tinge of red on his cheeks. "Thank you for your assistance. I really appreciate you all coming out here.

As excited as he was for this adventure, he just couldn't stand the sea. Something about it just got on his nerves and made his stomach twist inside when he thought of being out on the water. Even worse, he thought of what kind of creatures could be lurking in the deep. He would have fainted at that point if he didn't have a 'reputation' to uphold. He looked back up at the others and grew a wide smile, trying to reassure them that he was more than capable for this journey. He wasn't about to let some silly old fear stop him from something so important...even if he did wish to avoid it as much as possible. He idly looked down, pulling out the necklace from underneath his shirt, and stared at the heirloom in thought. It made him think of his heritage and about the stories that his father had told him. He smiled absentmindedly, feeling a sense of pride course through him. He couldn't wait to get this started and come back as a man. His father would be so proud of him...maybe he would even stop bugging him about marriage and what-not afterwards! That would be fantastic.
Gabriel Moreau - Mountains

The rest of the night had been a blur to Gabriel, even when he did remember some of the finer details. Even so, everything was still quite fuzzy in his memory. The one thing that stood out in his mind though was Tanner and Olivia. For some reason, he just couldn't get either of them out of his head. He shifted in his sleep, a worried expression growing on his face as he laid there. He dreamed of titans...large, terrible beasts that rampaged through Shiganshina. Despite the calm the boy expressed over the situation, he was never able to remain calm in his sleep. That was when his true self showed. His fears, his character, his hidden personality. He was a coward, but that was what made him brave. That was what made him join the military. Even so, every time he looked upon the titans, he found himself unable to move. He couldn't speak or yell out, even as he saw the two fending off titans. He wanted to warn them that they were about to swarm them. It was all too much for him, yet he couldn't shut his eyes. As more and more of the other cadets began to pour in, he found that they too were being horded. He was a team leader...so why couldn't he take charge? Before he knew it, he found Reese standing beside him, yelling at him. Strangely enough, he could not hear the words coming from his mouth. All he could read was 'titans.' Then...it got louder. And louder. And louder....until the whistle was blown and he heard the yelling from Reese about titans.

He quickly sat up, letting out a scream full of panic, the first time that he had shown any form of fear, and banged his head up against a metal bar. He let out a loud groan of pain and held on to his forehead, falling back onto the bed as he held tightly.
"Reese, you son of a bitch! I'm going to kick your ass when I get my hands on you!" As he laid there in pain, he could felt the cold sweat against his skin. These nightmares seemed to get worse with every passing day, especially when they were slowly nearing the end of their training with every passing minute. He could barely stomach the thought of his nightmares and pushed them to the side, like he always did. It was just too much. He laid there for a few seconds, until he quickly pulled off the covers, wearing nothing up his undergarments and his shirt, and rushed outside into the snow, holding himself up against the side of the building, and threw up. It was the first time he had done so since those nightmares had begun. He felt like he was going to lose his entire stomach at this rate.

After he was done with this small episode, he quickly moved his face to a more calm one, heading back into the cabin, and looked up at Reese with a mellow expression on his face. "Just forget about it..." It was unclear if he meant this towards hurting Reese or about the episode that he had waking up, but it didn't matter to him. He just didn't want to think about it right now. His movements were slow and almost zombie-like as he got dressed and headed outside, swinging his coat around him without another word. He should have said something to Tanner...but he just couldn't. Not at that moment, especially with the dream still fresh in the subconscious part of his mind. He wandered a little aimlessly through the snow until he reached the mess hall and sat down on a seat, staring down at the table. He couldn't stomach to eat at the moment...he just needed to think for a second.
@Mercurial I could have sworn I tagged everyone. Sorry 'bout that.

@Ambra - Eli listened to the Rhea's words carefully, looking back down at the man that she had described. He wasn't all that bad, the young Prince thought. He had seen plenty of masked men come into the halls hoping to speak with the King or some kind of adviser, usually about some religious or cult-like endeavors. In all honesty, not much seemed to frighten the boy, aside from the usual "I'm going to kill you" or getting a blade drawn on you ordeal. What really scared Eli were such beasts like Icarus, which had caused him to shudder visibly when she spoke of her wyvern. The Prince always had some kind of irrational fear when it came to wyverns and the sea. In fact, there had been several incidents where Eli got so sick when they had departed, that the ship had to be turned around almost immediately. They weren't even out of view of the coast when this happened! Granted it did take place a few years ago, so his father was confident that he'd be perfectly fine this time.

@Aquanthe@Tenma Tendo@Tala Avana@Zeroth@Kazemitsu@Lord Orgasmo@Redneckatron - Eli looked backed up at Rhea and smiled warmly. "Don't worry about him Rhea; I'm sure he's a nice gentleman. I'll go ahead and greet them!" He gave her a hug before turning around and walking down the staircase towards the large group. The steps that Eli had taken down the staircase were quick and excited, almost like a child rushing the staircase for a celebration. When he stood in front of the guests, he addressed them with a bright smile and a very small tint of red on his cheeks. "Good morning everyone! As a few of you already know, I'm Prince Eli. I look forward to the journey and hope I can learn much from you all." It was clear that this boy had no experience with the outside world. Yet something about his posture and how clearly he spoke showed something quite different from what their first impressions of the Prince revealed to them. In a way, it was as if there was a hidden strength to him that he had yet to express.

@Mistiel - Eli looked over at Jauna, a girl he was quite familiar with. Much to his annoyance, she was one of a few girls that he just so happened to be choosing from for marriage. These girls were all around the castle, trying to look refined and tasteful, but none of it really mattered to Eli. Even Jauna, who sparked slight interest in Eli due to her unladylike behavior, was denied! Still, many of them stayed in the castle with hopes of having his hand in marriage. Eli was frustrated with how often so many people wanted to marry him. Even worse was when it was used as a political tool, which was quite often. He despised it, as did his father. As Eli watched Jauna and the man talk, he raised a brow in confusion. She's interested in him? Thank goodness...that's one person with a crush on me off my back. Eli gave her a courteous bow and gave her a warm smile, just as he always did. In fact, he didn't seem to be showing any signs of jealousy whatsoever. Looked like her plan didn't work out too well on him...or at all.

With introductions mostly out of the way, Eli began to walk across the room towards a large set of doors, his smile as cheery looking as ever. Turning around, he beckoned the group to follow him. "This way everyone. We'll have some breakfast first before we set out. I want to make sure we're all feeling good before we head out." He pushed the doors with a quiet grunt, swinging them open, and revealed a large banquet hall with a single, long table. The room was extravagant and decorated with all manners of painting, chandeliers, and stunning masonry that seemed to make everything stand out even more. The table was fitted with a white tablecloth and filled with empty plates, bowls, silverware, and candles. The large windows leading in to the room had been open, letting in the sunlight and sounds of birds from the garden freely. Eli had only taken a few steps in when a few men that had been dressed quite nicely pull out all of the chairs, waiting for everyone to take their seat. Eli dropped down on his seat, the man behind it pushing it forward to the table, and watched the others. "Since we're all going to be with each other for a long time, I want to take this opportunity for us to get to know each other better. If anyone has any questions about me, please feel free to ask."

The light of the sun hurt Eli's eyes as he opened them slowly, the sound of bells ringing outside causing him to stir awake. He groaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes as a handmaid opened the window curtains. The maid, surprised by the almost upset look he gave her, bowed to him and apologized. He smiled slightly, waving his hand to dismiss her, and moved to the side of the bed. When the clacking sound of her shoes seemed to disappear, another came to his room. It was slow and almost out of rhythm. Even stranger, it sounded like three feet were moving. He realized who it was when he took a few seconds to think. His father, Erigan the IV, hobbled into the room with a crutch in hand. He smiled at the boy, making his way over to him. "Fifteen and already so experienced with magic. You've grown up so much, my boy. Did you enjoy your sleep?" He made his way over to Eli and stopped, leaning up against the cane in front of him. Eli smiled up at his dad and nodded, rubbing his eyes some. "I did, dad. I had the coolest dream. I was this really, really powerful mage and a bunch of dragons attacked the capital. I stood at your side and we both used a flurry of spells to take them down and -" His father laughed, sitting down next to the body, and ruffled his hair up.

"Yes, yes, that's very good son. You know that being a prince isn't all about fighting monsters and saving people though, yes? It's about responsibility and....oh, what am I saying? I know that no matter how many times that I say it, you'll never learn." Both son and father laughed, until they both died down and sat in silence. Eli thought for a long while and frowned, looking up at Erigan. "I don't want to go. I'll miss you." No matter how much Eli wanted to go on adventures and explore the world, he found the hardest thing to believe was that he would be without his father. Erigan pulled his son in close, wrapping his arms around the boy. "Nobody truly wants to leave their loved ones, Eli. I know I didn't, but I did it for a reason...for your mother. When you're older, you'll understand that a man has to make decisions that might not be in the interest of others...but you'll do them anyways, because you know that it's the right thing to do." Eli watched as Erigan reached into his pocket, pulling out a small necklace with a gem on it. "I wanted to give this to be given to you when you were king, but...I think now is the right time. You're becoming a man and you're about to go on your first trip across the world. This is the Estali family heirloom. It's very special. Keep it close to you and never let anyone take it. When you're out there...imagine I'm with you in the heirloom."

Eli stared at it for a long while, his eyes shining at the beautiful gem within it. He placed it around his neck and found himself smiling widely. He reached up to his dad, hugging him tightly, and didn't let go until he began to express pain. "Sorry dad...thank you for the heirloom." His father smiled and kissed the top of his head, ruffling his hair up once more, and stood up slowly with a groan, walking out with his cane. "You have at least an hour or two left before you depart. You better get dressed and do what you want around here before you leave. I have some important business to attend to, so you'll have to leave on your own with Rhea." He looked back at Eli and stared at him for a few minutes, until walking off again. Eli leaped out of his bed and rush into his closet, putting on a fine outfit with a cloak on top of it all. He took a royal brooch and pinned it, keeping the cloak together, and looked around for his satchel. He picked it up quickly and wrapped it around his shoulder, until he sped outside his door.

The young boy rushed past Rhea, tapping her shoulder as he ran past her. "Good morning, Rhea!" He called out cheerfully. When he reached the stairway, he looked about to make sure nobody was watching, and slid down the railing. Without even realizing it, he had done this past Juana and a small group of people that had gathered to assist Eli on his journey. He had no idea who they were and just thought they were there to see his father or one of his advisers. He waved to Juana as he rushed into the library and picked out two books from the shelves. "Wind Tome...check. Fire Tome...check. Looks like I've got everything. I can't wait to get this started!" He placed the two books inside of his satchel and walked back out, approaching the group that had gathered. He waved to them, still oblivious to who they were, and made his way up the steps to where he found Rhea once more. "Hey Rhea! Are you ready for this trip?" He asked with a big smile on his face. The boy looked more than excited...in fact, he looked like he was ready to burst with joy!
