The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.
I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.
Jess nodded. "Yeah... still got to get round to learning," she said, then immediately wished she hadn't brought up the subject. She'd passed a theory test, but the disruption to her life meant that the actual test was something she had yet to take. It was on her list of plans - but it would mean dragging Roxy around. Roxy, who couldn't stand closed spaces.
She really should have more experience, more skills, more of a life at twenty-one, she thought as she climbed into the passenger seat. She'd have a lot of catching up to do once she and Roxy got to the city. The issue was, how much would their separate goals and lifestyles come into conflict?
"Thanks," Jess said as she handed Roxy the suitcase. "It shouldn't take much longer." She set about cramming the last few items into bags as quickly as she could, in an attempt to keep her word.
It was silly, really. Here she was, trying to avoid burdening Roxy, and yet a few bags and cases were such a small matter compared to all the other ways she was going to inconvenience this woman. Catching herself biting her lip, she stopped, knowing that coming across as weak and timid would just further annoy the person who'd put herself out to help.
Passing the bags over to Roxy, she tensed from the woman's growing anxiety. She hurried, trying to get the job finished. All she could do was try to minimise the strain she put on the anchor.
Once she'd bought a Great Ball, Ella took a look at the map on her Pokedex again. "It's just this way!" she said, pointing down a street at the vast expanse of sand in the distance. "Let's grab some food and head over."
The rest of the shopping didn't take too long. Taking a bite of flatbread with mixed vegetables and Gogoat cheese, Ella hoped it would give her the energy to trek through the desert while carrying her new shovel. She forced a spring into her step, trying to give off the impression of vivacity for the sake of encouraging the others.
She only came to a stop when she reached the edge of the village. "Not going to make you walk, Taffy," she said, bending down to the Weedle, taking out the Pokeball she'd been given with the egg. "Not through this sand." The newly-hatched Weedle, already flagging from the small amount of activity, crawled onto the Pokeball's surface, slipping inside the capsule.
She only wished she could bond more with the little larva, instead of dragging her right into a situation like this from birth.
"Good idea." Watching Ella return the Weedle, Florence gave Chay a quick snack of Rare Candy as she searched for the Pokeball. The candy had gone a little sticky in the heat, but that made it easier for the Cutiefly to stick his nose in and drink the gooey centre. "Here, you should take a rest." She held out the Pokeball, and once the bug was safely inside, she cupped the capsule in her hands for a few moments before clipping it to her belt. She just couldn't get him involved in this.
Panacea was the next to receive a Rare Candy and get summoned back to her Pokeball, but Florence kept Bonica out after giving her the level-boosting treat. At the press of a button, the new Grass type stood by the Budew's side.
"Tiergan," Florence said, crouching down and feeding him one of the sweets. "You know the desert better than I do. Keep Bonica company, and both of you keep a look out."
A confident grin spread over the Cacnea's face. "Nea!" he said, advancing on his little spike legs towards the stretch of sand.
He'll be an encouragement, Florence thought as she pressed on, despite the lingering soreness and tiredness. Right now, she needed to be like him, able to endure the toughest of situations.
@Noxx Yep, feel free to add a few levels to her Pokemon, if she was out training. Also, Amber's just left the Pokemon centre with Alex, Aedre, and travelling gym leader Rachel, so Nyxx could join the group, if you want.
Just as Jess was packing away the last of her belongings, she heard the wheels of a truck scraping on the dirt. Hauling the rucksack on to her back and pulling up the entendable handle of the suitcase, she slowly approached the door to greet Roxy, giving that awkward smile she didn't expect the other woman to return.
Her stomach clenched, and the urge to get out of the cabin spiked. Part of it's coming from Roxy, she realised once the purple-haired girl had voiced her dislike of the tiny, closed space.
"It's alright, I've got it. But thanks," she replied, dragging the suitcase along on its wheels, eager to get out for both of their sakes.
