Since Scott functions on a completely different wavelength than the Awakened, Jasmine can affect him.

Oh damn, ok that's great. I'll keep Jasmine from being too OP about it, but that's definitely something I can work to her advantage.
@Surtr Inc Would attempting to steal the momentum of a weapon held by a monster/Awakened count as directly affecting them? Or is that more of a gray area that Jasmine can potentially affect? The idea being that she'll steal the momentum of Scott swinging his weapon at Penny, if possible. If not then I can come up with something else.

When Grant saw Lynette begin to react to the lack of sound as well, he quickly realized he wasn't going crazy. No, he was actually incredibly sane, it was the situation itself that was crazy. He didn't understand why it was all happening to him, but he was almost entirely sure that it was all connected back to what happened to him when he disappeared two years ago. After being confused and left in the dark for so long, he felt like he was finally making progress and he couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief, not that it could be heard.

"Aura? Is that what that was then?" Grant asked after taking a moment to calm himself, "I saw something when you snapped your fingers." He brought a hand up to his mouth in a closed fist as he thought on it. He couldn't really explain what he'd seen when she snapped her fingers, but the lack of sound coupled with the...phenemenon he'd witnessed seemed to suggest that he'd seen something similar to what Lynette had seen in him. "Aura" felt like the right word now that he thought about it, but of course that wasn't the only thing she'd told him that drew his interest.

"...This is why I'm here, isn't it? You guessed I was like you. And the support group, they're the same, right?" At this time, the tint slowly ebbed away as it shrunk around them until eventually it seemed to disappear into Grant. He looked down at himself, then shook a bit as if he were chuckling. He was probably taking this too well, but considering his situation this only helped to make things make sense. However, he never told Lynette, or anyone really, about his connection to Farmer Hill, so he knew that could make his easy acceptance of...magic powers? Yeah it was probably magic, but being so easy to accept that could potentially raise some eyebrows. Sure, he'd never asked Lynette about her reasons either, though he was definitely curious now that he knew that she apparently was a part of some secret magic club. So her being curious in return would only make sense, but he could deal with that. If the mysteries of this town were about to run as deep as he thought, then sharing his own secrets wouldn't be a problem, and could even be beneficial.

"Wh-What!? No! I don't need water, I-" Jasmine exclaimed when the bespectacled girl tried to get her to calm down, but there wasn't much she could do for the moment as the girl quickly left and came back with a cup of water. "We don't have time for this..." Jasmine groaned as she looked back outside, but seeing as she didn't see the killer anywhere out there for the moment ("What the hell? Where'd he go?") she didn't immediately try to make a break for it anyway and run away. Despite her initial protests, she still accepted the beverage and downed it fairly quickly. She nodded in thanks, and tried to steady her breathing as she explained.

"Look, I just got chased by some Hulk-looking motherfucker with a giant sharp...thing! I don't know what it was but it was some sort of blade. He, he killed someone! Oh fuck, somebody's dead, I don't even know who she was but she went to our school. Kelly...Callie? All I know is she's gone, then the killer tried to get me too." She showed them her scraped up arms as proof.

Of the three girls there with her, the one with dyed silver hair and accompanied by a crutch seemed to believe her without issue. Though she pointed out that due to her and the third girl's legs, running wasn't going to be an option. Said third girl wasn't too keen on ignoring the threat of being attacked either, but told the first girl, Kim, to remember. Remember what, Jasmine had no clue, but it was enough to get Kim to agree to try to hide, or at least get out of plain view. Jasmine was glad they were at least moving, but Kim still didn't seem to fully believe there was a killer nearby.

"Damn it, I'm not making this up," Jasmine started in exasperation, but before she could continue the killer made her presence all too clear. Jasmine's mouth went dry as her eyes widened in fear at the sight of the monstrosity in front of her. Leftover adrenaline began to pump through her body once more as her fight-or-flight senses began to tingle like crazy. Only, she wasn't alone this time, and she was with people who couldn't easily run away. This wasn't good, but she had to act.

"Back to the front, back to the front!" Jasmine shrieked. Her hands reached for the counter behind her for something to defend herself with, and after a second or so of scrambling she found purchase on the handle of a metal pot. Figuring it wouldn't incapacitate Reese but could still buy some time, she chucked it with all her might at his head before then ushering for everyone to get away as fast as they could.

A support group...ok, that made sense. Grant wasn't sure exactly what kind of support group was taking place, seeing as there was an obscene amount of yelling going on, but that apparently wasn't supposed to be happening in the first place according to Lynette. Though, that made him wonder why she was brought to it, assuming she was supposed to be a part of it. The only thing he could think of was of what happened to those students during the camping trip a month ago. He hadn't been there, but didn't Lynette go? Maybe the support group was meant as something for the survivors then...but then again, he didn't have any concrete evidence here right now, and he wasn't about to ask for more details on that when Lynette had other things she still wanted to tell him.

Britney...Williams? Grant wanted to make sure he got that right, because he'd been getting vibes from her since the moment he met her. But then again, she'd likely given him second looks as well. A lot of people in this town didn't care for those who dug into its history, especially those who'd lived here for generations.

"The really tall rich girl, correct?" Grant asked in interest, "I've always wondered about her, but I could never get a read on her. If she can tell me what I need to know, I want to meet her."

It was at this time however that he realized the arguing in the Conference Room had gone completely silent. It hadn't even just died down, it had flat out abruptly ended. Combining that with the silent conversation that he was having, Grant's mind began to momentarily wander, and in no time at all he began to feel paranoid that he'd somehow gone deaf again. He didn't understand how or why, and honestly it should've been the last thing he'd figure would happen, but the room suddenly going silent was incredibly off-putting and didn't feel like a simple coincidence.

And as this line of thought continued, the area around Lynette and Grant began to tint slightly, causing the muted young man to gulp in apprehension.

"I...think it's happening again," he signed hesitantly and without context, his eyes flitting around at the tinted colors around him as he realized he couldn't hear himself gulp.

Jasmine only managed to glance behind herself for a split second, too scared to get a good look at the distance between her and the would-be killer. But that didn't matter, she realized; all that mattered was running as fast as she could so that she could get away. And as she went on, she found herself getting closer to Sucre Café. She wasn't sure if she could hide in there, and thought her best bet was to maybe run right past and try to keep going, or maybe even run on through to its back exit to try to lose the hulking brute, but then she saw people. Actual live people were in there, unlike the barren streets she was currently barreling down. They noticed her as she got closer, and looks of concern and confusion were apparent on their faces. Maybe they could help her...oh shit, what if the killer tried to go after them!? She needed to get them to safety as well, they all needed to get away!

"Oh my god, people!" Jasmine gasped as she clambered into the store, short of breath but still trying to tell them what was happening, "I just saw a- a monster! I know that sounds fake but it's true, they literally just murdered someone! Oh my god it chased me, it was right fucking behind me! We need to hide, or, or get away or something!"
@Ciaran Yeah, there's a lot of potential with Jasmine's power. It's why I'm glad that one of her limits is that she can't directly affect the Awakened, she'd be able to instant gib the bad guys too easily otherwise. Though, while she theoretically can steal and give any amount of momentum, it isn't always practical to do so. She can only affect complex objects as a whole, which is why her mountain presence upgrade lets her target specific bits. Because of this, the inside of whatever she's targeting is still going (though I'm gonna say there are special exceptions so I can cover my bases if need be), meaning blood is still pumping within an organic body, passengers within a moving vehicle are subject to whiplash and everything else that would occur if it suddenly stopped, and vehicles would technically have all their functions still operating.

So basically, it would cause some serious destruction to steal momentum from a car, let alone from a train. If Jasmine were a little more amoral, it possibly wouldn't be a problem for her, but if she knew what the consequences were for doing something like that she'd likely refuse unless it was a desperate situation. The safest way for her to use her Abstraction would be for small scale and/or simple things, though of course that's not going to get her a whole lot of momentum a lot of the time. Figuring out that sweet spot is going to be key for her in order for her to reach her max potential.
@Mike73 I may have hilariously misread one of your earlier posts. Want me to edit or roll with it?

Oh lol, no worries. I'm fine with either option tbh, I'll leave it up to you.
Sorry for the auto-dodge, I hate doing that and usually try to avoid it but figured it was either that or Jasmine died.

"Yes, I-"

Grant abruptly stopped motioning, cutting his answer short. He cocked his head to the side slightly a moment or so after he paused, his eyes scanning Lynette's facial expression. What she just asked him...why would she ask him that? Did it have to do with what she knew?

"I never said I made the sound go away," he told her. He didn't appear to be accusatory, just curious in her thought process. "I didn't think I caused it, I thought something just happened to me. But I said 'yes' anyway. That doesn't make sense."

His hand reached for the strap of his book bag and held on tightly as a thoughtful look appeared on his face. Why would he say yes? It never crossed his mind to think he had any pull on what had happened to him, yet he answered so...automatically, almost. Did he actually do it then? Furthermore he was now agreeing that he'd made the sound go away, even though he'd said he'd gone deaf. What the hell?

All the while, the muffled yelling in the Conference Room appeared to escalate as he saw somebody enter the room, and the light coming out from underneath the doorway even went out for a second or so before returning, only for the yelling to return once more and the arguing voices to become more emotional. Grant's concern over the situation only grew more as their conversation went on. Combined with how puzzled he felt about his situation, he felt more than ever that he needed some answers. But he couldn't push too much, Lynette was the one who'd invited him out here after all.

"Lynette...why are we here? What's going on in there?" Grant signed after thinking it over, "I get the feeling you know what's happening to me, and whatever it is, it has to do with why we're here."

Strangely enough, Jasmine couldn't see anything when she tried to look down the alleyway. It was still daytime though, so why was it so dark? And specifically in this alley as well? But one of her other senses did pick up on something. There was noise, the sound of heavy footsteps and something fleshy that was dragging along the ground. The darkness suddenly began to fade away once she heard those sounds, and from within the darkness stepped out...

Jasmine felt her breath catch in her throat as she stared down- no, up at the monstrous entity before her. A massive bloody blade was held in one hand, and in the other, the body of a dead woman. She looked familiar, was she a student? She didn't personally know her but she was sure she'd seen the victim before. But now she was dead, and the killer was right fucking in front her. He dropped the body, and the thud of it landing on the ground was the only noise Jasmine could hear. There were no people, no cars, nothing. Just her and the monster, alone. She took a step back, unsure if running was even an option here, but then the behemoth raised his blade with the intent to cut her down.

She threw herself backward and off to the side, scraping her arms up on the pavement in the process. Even if she only had a low chance of escaping, there was no way in hell she was going to just let herself die. She didn't know how narrowly she had avoided the attack, but she didn't give it any thought and instead scrambled up onto her feet before booking it away from the killer as fast as she could. She didn't have a goal in mind, she just knew she had to get away, and happened to be making her way towards the original destination of Sucre Café.

"Help! Help! Somebody help me! Please!"

The screams ripped out of her throat, purely on instinct. Adrenaline rushed through her body as she pushed herself as hard as she could in getting away. She continued to scream, and glanced back over shoulder to see just how far (or more likely, close) her pursuer was while still going as fast as she could.

As she ran, unbeknownst to her, a symbol had begun to take form on her abdomen.

she'll get axe murdered

RIP Jasmine

Though I'll probably have her power activate if Scott uses a ranged attack or something not Awakened threatens her, since she can't directly affect him anyway. She wouldn't know how much potential her power has yet due to it being so new and crazy to her.
I will as well. I don't plan on Jasmine having access to her powers right away though, hopefully she'll be able to get by as a normie for now.
