New Beginnings
(After 3.5 years of separation, a couple gets back together and she's changed a lot.....)
It had been an up and down 3 and a half years for Scott. He was separated from his wife during that time. They had three kids, all boys that they shared custody with.
He was now 41 years old, 6 feet tall and a very thin 160 pound. He had moved out of their home to a neighboring town and Sara and the boys stayed in the family home.
Sara was now 36 years old and stood about 5'1", she had always been a bit on the heavy side.
They had had a happy marriage, but seemed to grow apart and they took a break without divorcing. The kids had taken it pretty well considering.
Scott got the kids every other weekend after school on Friday through Sunday. Whenever there was a school event he went to, Sara was never there.
The pickups and drop offs were either handled by his father in law, or Sara would just stay in the car and they wouldn't talk or get close.
They would text and talk on the phone when the kids were involved with something and they shared parenting very well that way.
Another weekend was upon them and Sara had driven the boys to the designated park and the boys poured out of the SUV.
Scott was already waiting at the park and greeted the boys, picking up the youngest.
The boys got out and ran to his car. Sara remained in her car as always. She was looking down at her phone and Scott looked away at the kids.
Sara rolled up her long sleeves to her elbow as her car was getting warm.
Scott looked back over and saw her with her sleeves rolled up to her elbows, his mouth dropped as he stared at her huge, thick and muscled forearms."Oh my god" he whispered.
Sara looked over and smiled at him and waved. He waved back and she drove off. Did he really see those massive forearms? He was sure he did. His heart was beating rapidly and the kids were restless so he had to start driving home.
He really did miss her and realized they both had made some mistakes in separating. But he was afraid to talk to her about that.
His oldest son watched as his mom pulled away. "She still loves you, you know," saying to his father. She cries at night.
Scott looked back at the SUV turning the corner and leaving. Could she be having the same feelings of regret?
