Bart raised an eyebrow as Gio flipped open his pocket watch, wondering briefly if it were some kind of time machine, before Gio opened the door of the garage, showing it to somehow lead to the faraway streets of Cairo. Even in his off put state, this still shook him a bit, his lips pursing and he eyes peering at the impossibility before him, as if he could look the insanity out of existence. The Emendator encouraged his forward passage, and he steadied himself, resetting his mouth to a regular position, and striding through the door. He still was surprised as he crossed from 1940's Louisiana to 1920's Cairo, feeling his feet firmly plant themselves halfway across the world. Immediately, the arid climate attacked his throat, shocked from the humid air it was just becoming accustomed to. He coughed, taking in small breaths to try to adjust as quickly and comfortably as possible. He took a glance back as he heard the door shut behind him, to see it had now become a wall of solid brick.

Keeping his mouth shut was not something Bart was the best at, but he was not in the business of pissing off the man who could leave him stranded here. The fear of being a stranger in a strange land was more than enough to keep him on his best behavior. Straightening his jacket, and angling his head slightly downwards in an effort to keep the sun out of his eyes. He wanted to look at everything but tried as best he could not to gawk. He followed after Gio, but let his eyes wander and examine what was around him, trying to seem as discreet as he could while taking in the impossibility in front of him. Even with his worrisome realizations, he couldn't help but have a small smile on his face, this was the stuff of legends after all. He was reminded of his childhood dreams of escaping and going somewhere his parents couldn't reach him, for which this was quite literally a realization. Even though it took him dying and falling into a world of unknowns, he couldn't help but think that in a way, this was worth it. He didn't know what that said about him, but he supposed he would inevitably find out.

Adalene looked behind her as Crystal left, "You don't see her?" she asked, as she left, before looking back at Emmie. She narrowed her eyes, "What'd you mean "The same""? She asked, a bit incredulously. She then closed her eyes tight, frustrated, and exhaled. "Sorry. I'm Adalene Jones." She replied. She then rubbed her temples, "What? Can you throw around fire too?" She did know this girl was in her dreams, and that means she saw a poor, helpless and scared girl murdered while fleeing for her life. "Or are you gonna poof like the last one?" She asked, wanting some goddamn answers. None of it made sense, people teleporting in and out of her apartment, Crystal not even noticing her, Adalene's new status as the Human Torch. Something big was happening, and she didn't know how to put the pieces together.

"Okay look." She said, clearly exasperated,"Here, what's your number?", She asked, pulling out her phone, "That way, even If you just suddenly stop existing for whatever reason." She said, not believing the words that now had to come out of her mouth. "Hopefully we'll still be able to connect and work towards some goddamn answers." She gestured, leaning her phone towards her, hoping she'd take it and fill in the information for the contact Adalene just created. "Please. I can't keep living this in this constant haze of confusion." She just wanted to figure out what was going on. As far as she was concerned, she could very well be in some very life threatening danger. A girl was dead as far as she knew, and she could be next.

"Garage, got it." Bartholomew said, carefully clutching the suit in his hands, quickly heading out of the room, though the study, making his way towards his room. He got to the stairs, and considered the time and place he'd be going to, 1924. As far as he was concerned, there wasn't too much of a difference between then and now, running down any relevant events of the era in his head when he froze. Dear god, they were smack in the middle of the Holocaust. How had he not realized that earlier? This was uncomfortable to say the least, he didn't like the implications of any of this. He guessed changing the future was the exact opposite of these people's prescribed jobs, but how could they allow this to happen? A disgusting, tragic loss of mass human life. He gripped the banister uncomfortably, making himself continue his way up the stairs, pulling himself along. He eventually reached the top, and practically threw himself into his room. He had to pull himself together, knowing Gio was waiting for him. He swallowed hard, and forced the suit onto his body.

As he fumbled with the last of the buttons, he'd regained most of his composure. It wasn't even an inexcusable thing on the part of the Emendators, the more he actually thought about it. Who knows how changing something like that would ripple though history? It just felt so melancholic, having the power to go anywhere and anywhen, and being powerless to stop true, wretched evil. He fit the hat over his head, and frowned. Why did they have to be the watchers and preserve the status quo, have to be the ones to prevent "anachronisms"?. It felt horridly unfair. Logically speaking, there had to be some "best" timeline for humanity, why couldn't they be in charge of making that happen? Wherever these "rules" came from, he wanted to know. If they were self imposed, he had to know why, and maybe even try to change the way things were he wasn't persuaded by given reasons. He looked towards the door, and sighed, composing himself. As much as this upset him, he did have a task to do, and upsetting Miss Lukas was the last thing he wanted to do.

Bartholomew stepped out, and took the stairs down straight to the front porch. Thankfully, the garage wasn't far from the house, so there wasn't much of a chance of him getting lost along the way. As he made his final approach, he cleared and steadied his mind best he could. As much cause he had for intellectual and emotional distress, he was about to go into what could end up being a dangerous area. The juxtaposition of excitement for adventure and concern resulted in a outwardly mellow, inwardly stressed Bartholomew Rosecliff. He forced a smile as he saw his companion, and waved, "Sorry about the delay." He said in an even tone, before folding his hands behind his back. "So, how exactly do we get to ah, Cairo, 1923?" He asked Gio, peering past him, towards the Garage.

Adalene cracked a smile at Crystal's response, and was about to thank her, and let her know she'd be undoubtedly taking her up on her offer, when her blood ran cold, seeing a person in the corner of her eye. Adalene turned on the spot, and clenched her hand into a fist. "I'm getting real sick of people just showing up in my apartment." She said, in almost a growl. Had this person snuck in when she stepped out for all of five minutes? Adalene was raised to be defensive, and it was everything she had to not just attack this person outright, but she She took pause for a moment. She realized she recognized this woman. This was one of the people from her dream, like the girl from before. That explained how she got in then, if like the other one she somehow had the miraculous ability to teleport in and out of existence. Her hand relaxed, though a scowl stayed on her face as she said, exasperated "Do you have any idea how you got here?" She asked, completely forgetting about Crystal for the time being.

Adalene rubbed her temples, almost having a headache from this shit. Hey, at least she'd learned not to throw around fire at these people, right? Giving a huff, she quickly remembered about her guest, and looking back at them to see if they were concerned at all. "Sorry about this by the way... it's been a weird day for me to say the least." She said, trying to fake a smile and blow off the situation like it was nothing, before turning back to face the intruder, a serious look quickly falling back on her face. She didn't want this girl just poofing away before she got some goddamn answers. In a disgruntled voice, she also gruffly said, "I'm Adalene by the way." She had to at least act civil if she wanted to learn anything from this girl.

Bart listened with a bemused smile as The Watch listed what he could and could not be called, ending on the funny note of his resemblance to a certain Starfleet captain. "So Professor Xavier's on the table then?" He asked jokingly. It certainly would fill out the Xmen vibe he was getting with this group. Shaking his head with a chuckle, he said, "It's nice to meet you Giosue." Bart started following along as Gio led him out of the room, letting him know the specifics of the task ahead of them. He raised an eyebrow in surprise at the details brought to his attention. He hadn't realized Alicia actually had left, but hey, it sounded like a cool adventure to head out on in any case. Maybe doing some kind of mission like this would kick start whatever kind of abilities he might have. His eyes looked up to Gio as he reminded him to keep vigilant. He nodded eagerly, trying to keep up his calm and logical facade, but very clearly excited at the chance to go on his first mission.

He gave a hmm at Gio's question of him needing anything, and was going to shake his head, wanting to go out and start as soon as possible, but paused when he heard the location. Cairo was bound to be beautiful, but dry as a bone for sure. He'd just had dinner though, having soup, and a glass of water there, he'd probably be okay. He continued to shake his head, "I'm sure I'll be fine, hopefully we won't be there too long, right?" He asked. Even as he spoke, this felt surreal. It didn't feel like it made any sense, them just talking about casually going to Cairo. He did continue to ask however, "When are we arriving though? Will it still be 1940?" He questioned, realizing he couldn't take the time staying the same as a given any more.

As they neared the edge of the dining room, his name was called out by Gilbert, just in time for him to see a full suit be pulled out of the piece of head-wear. He laughed out lough, his mouth agape in awe, While not the most impressive thing he'd seem out of the man, it still was magical to watch. He hurried back towards his seat, and grabbed for the new suit, taking a long look at it, and reaching into the hat to further examine the pocketwatch. "Nice. You have good taste Gilbert." He said, his voice breathy, clearly excited. He'd always wanted a good suit, but never quite had the spare money to invest in one. This was something he really did appreciate. He gave a look over to Gio, saying, "I'm gonna head up to my room and change into this, where should I meet you?" He asked, bouncing in his shoes a bit. While he was back at the table though, he quickly poured himself some more water, drinking it while waiting for a response.

Adalene smiled, "Black's the way to go." She nodded, and stepped back into the kitchen to grab two mugs, resting them on the table in front of her. She heard Crystal thank her, and smiled, before looking back towards her. "It's really not a problem, don't sweat it." She reassured. It'd have been fun to visit her partner, but that wasn't something she was gonna push for. "Good things have a tendency to come back at you, ya know?" She said. Karma wasn't something she believed in that much, but it did make sense that being a good person made people more inclined to be good to you.

Adalene herself, however, was a bit hungry still, even if her gues wasn't. She ducked into her fridge quickly, and grabbed an orange out of it. She began to peel it, kicking the door closed before her. As she peeled, she stood near her garbage, dispensing pieces into it. Once she was done, she tore out a piece, and plopped it into her mouth. "So," She said, chewing as she spoke, "Where do you tend bar?" Hey, maybe she could at least get a few free drinks out of this.

Bartholomew was a little surprised by Evelina redirecting him, informing him he needed to go with the bald Emendator, Gio. He shrugged, and didn't think arguing with her on this would be helpful, or end well for him, so he rolled with it. "Well, I guess I am." He said, flashing a smile over to The Watch, standing up in kind, dabbing a napkin to the corner of his mouth, before resting it on his plate. It'd be nice to get a chance to get to know Gio, he supposed. He figured Gio was referring to Alicia, who was the only one he'd met that was missing. Looking around the estate would be pretty boring, but it probably wouldn't last that long. He strolled up to Gio, ready to go and look whenever he was.

Bart briefly eyed Evelina, wondering why she choose him to accompany The Watch. A paranoid voice in his head said it was something to do with that fact that he was powerless, perhaps Evelina wanted to talk to the real paradoxes without him, or something to that effect. He did his best to ignore it, but he was pretty downtrodden about being left behind in this respect. He quickly averted his eyes, looking for something to rest his gze at, and settling on Gio. "I don't think we've met yet, by the way." He said to him. Bart thought for a moment, thinking he might be the one who deposited Sophia in the Kitchen House earlier, but he was unsure. "Name's Bart, as I'm sure you heard." He said, softly, feeling a tiny but awkward in front of everybody. He motioned his head towards the door, figuring they should be off about now.

Adalene felt a little glum when she was denied the opportunity to kick some ass, but she supposed that was alright. The last thing she needed was an assault charge on her record. "I'll make you some coffee then, too early for day drinking." She said, with a snarky smile. "You're better than that, believe me." She then stepped away and towards the kitchen. She actually did have some nice coffee, and with the way today had been, she could go for a nice drink. Grabbing some beans from the cupboard, she measured and dispensed them into a grinder, before pulsing a little, and getting a kettle to fill. She opened it up and placed it in the sink, letting water from the facet flow into it. Shortly after, she placed it on the stove, and turned on the heat. Adalene poked her head into the room and said ," By the way, how do you take it?" She asked. She preferred black coffee herself, since when she drank it she wanted to actually taste coffee.

She prepared a filter, and set it up, pouring the grounds into it and placing it over a coffee pot. "It'll be a little while for the water to boil. But coffee should be up soon." She said, stepping back into the living room, and leaning against the wall. "About ten minutes." She didn't know quite what to do with the girl around, but she had too much free time today anyway, and it was nice not be be alone. "You're not hungry at all? I suppose I could throw some food together too." She wouldn't blame her if her break up had ruined her appetite, but she might as well try.

Bartholomew's eyes followed Miss Lukas, seeing where Alexandra went. He nodded a bit, seeing yet another person finally get their powers. He paused and thought, "Am I the only one who hasn't had anything yet...?" His eyes looked to each of the paradoxes around him,"Teleportation, Storm, invisible thingy, Exploding head syndrome, pig man." He tagged each of them in his head, before landing back on himself. Yup, he was the only one left being a normal human so far. Of course, somebody would have had to been, but it sucked that it had to be him. He knew it was dumb, but there was a level of exclusion he felt from this. He tried to push back and get over that, but still, now he seemed like the odd one out.

Bart shook his head, and grimaced, He didn't really want to spend a ton of time around tourists, and didn't have too much in the way of stories. Up until today, he had a pretty boring life. Then he got an interesting idea. While he hadn't done many interesting things, he certainly had read many, many great stories, some of which hadn't been written yet. If it was scary stories they wanted, he didn't mind the idea of bootstrapping the idea of dementors. Potential paradoxes aside, that sounded pretty fun, and Eve did say that anachronisms like that had a way of sorting themselves out.

Eve had asked them to pair up with an Emendator, and he was split on who to join up with. On one hand, he felt a bit comfortable with The Hat, having already met and spent some time with him, but he knew he'd need to meet up with the others eventually. He'd already spent some time with Sophia, and had no idea about Nancy. He knew that a few of them would need to double up anyway, so he chirped up, "I wouldn't mind joining Nancy either." He said, looking over to her and waving, "If that's alright with Sophia that is." He quickly tacked on.

Adalene laughed, "See, sounds fun." She said. She then paused, and corrected herself, "Or well, interesting at least. I could never be bored with a job like that. Though I might get a littleee uncomfortable." She admitted. "So, in the mean time, how are you gonna get your stuff back?" She asked with a twinge of concern. She didn't want her ex to just get to keep all her stuff. And she was itching to meet this guy and get his side of the story, so she kinda wanted to offer to go get her stuff. She wasn't about to suggest that though, that'd be a bit too weird, and she didn't want to stress her out.

Adalene then tacked on, "By the way, are you hungry or anything? I could make something for you if you like." She offered. The more comfortable the girl got, the more Adalene might be able to learn more about her. It was certainly more interesting than anything else she might do while Crystal was here. Plus she could eat more than she already did, even if she shouldn't necessarily. She stood up, and leaned against the doorway to the kitchen, stretching her legs a bit in the process.
