No, the three month is so that people don't change their name every week. If you get a name change, you're sticking with it for 3 months.

As far as returning to your old name, that is not something the Mods can do without asking Mahz to go into the database directly and change some of the values.

eg:
"Bot" can become "Robot" but cannot return to Bot

The original owner of the name had not been active for 6 years.

That's something we'll have to tag @Mahz in because it's a process that he'll have to go through in order to recycle the old account. Unfortunately he hasn't really been on in a while so I am unable to know when it'll get done. :(
