This is right by my understanding, but it is a bit misleading imo: Green is green because it reflects green light, and absorbs the rest of the spectrum. As you've explained it, we could consider a green leaf to be the absence of green because the light is reflected or not green as you defined white. It can technically be considered correct but then what color is it?

This is just semantics. I use the term absence in the same context as absorption. The visible absence of a color = to the color being absorbed. That means that a green leaf isn't the absence of green because it's being reflected instead of not being absorbed. This might be the confusion between additive and subtractive. Subtractive is used for things that don't add together. IE, if you mix red and blue paint, you get purple paint. It doesn't become brighter because the same light is being reflected, just at a different combined wavelength. If you mix red and blue light together, it becomes a bright magenta because more light is being reflected.

On an off topic, has anyone ever wondered why plants evolved to reflect green light? By my understanding green light is more energetic than red or blue (when speaking of the sun, at least) one would think plants that absorb said energy for photosynthesis rather than reflect it, would be the dominant plant strain in terms of photosynthesis.

Green light isn't the most energetic. Red has the lowest wavelength, violet has the highest. That means that violet is the most energetic color. Chlorophyll a absorbs primarily red and violet while Chlorophyll b absorbs primarily blue and orange. This means that there's a pretty big gap from teal to yellow where light isn't really absorbed. Why did it evolve for this?

It just did. Evolution doesn't imply the best solution. It's only the one that works and becomes dominant.
Slight thing to consider though, if you REALLY wanna go hard with color metaphors. If you remove colors from something, eventually, I think you'll get white, not black, cause white is (as far as I know) the absence of all color.

White and black are both the absence of all color.

Additive, like mixing pigments, white is the absence of color. Mix enough pigment together, you'd eventually get black.
Subtractive, like mixing lights, black is the absence of colored light. Mix enough light together, you'd eventually get white.

So black is the absorption of all color, white is the reflection of all color.

god, why the fuck is color so fuckin weird

The deed was done. Yui's plan was perfect, except for one part. Still though, the commendations of her fellow students felt nice. She stabbed her blade a solid foot into the ground and the overwhelming power stored within her body faded with a long exhalation. Alongside the power, the crystalline horns that grew and her scaly skin fractured into dust that blew away in the soft winds. While her body was uninjured from both the attack and her transformation (save for dry and raw skin), her internal systems were a complete different story. Less than half a minute. That's how long her transformation lasted.

“Nah...” Yui replied to Tian-Gui out of breath from the altercation, “old move. I just don't do it becayshe-” That's when she felt it. A horrible cramp took hold of each muscle in her body. She groaned in pain as her arms contorted against her chest and her legs buckled. Man, Yui's power sucked. It was super strong, but she always had to deal with this. Slowly but surely, the cramps subsided until she could actually think and move her limbs like a normal human being. Raphel asked the now-functioning Yui if he could feel out her sword, which was fine. Yui didn't really mind.

“Go ahead,” she said with an unemoted shrug, “pull out excalibur.” It was still on maximum weight, though.

After Raphel got his chance to play with the sword, Yui stood up and sluggishly grabbed the blade, making sure to toggle the weight back to a normal, usable level. She thanked Mila for carrying Team Yui Gang's wittle babby healer and entered the portal. She just wanted a nice, long nap in an attempt to ignore her body, which screamed with the force of ten thousand suns for going too hard.
I was thinking perhaps someone who could effect people in their dreams, an art student trapped by other expectations and desired from her that she craved escaping in her dreams. It only works if she’s had physical contact with them and can find them in the dreamscape, but the longer she used it and the longer she dream the more reality starts to fade and she has a harder time deciphering whether she’s awake or dreaming.

i respect the 'Yoru ni naru to Boku wa' inspo.

Practically tossed from the horse, Ash landed right by Matteo. The warrior was indeed strong to be able to pick her up like she was nothing. But tossing her onto the thief was dangerous. In fact, where it not for the fact she had to protect her bow from the fall, she would have struck him in a sensitive area. Thankfully, she didn't and simply continued to roll on the ground. Not any more worse for wear than she was before, she rose to her feet. After all, a frozen soldier was a dead one. Soon to be, anyways.

"Get Muu!" She commanded Matteo. She would take over the job of protecting the healer, since Matteo so obviously wasn't good at it. Her hand slapped his back in an effort to shock him out of whatever stupor he would be in and she pointed out the direction in which Muu had fallen.

She dashed towards the dislodged lance buried in the tall grass. She had a pretty good idea where it landed. If even Ettamri's power couldn't pierce through the dirt and slime armour, who would be able to say that the frog's power couldn't? It was a risky idea. A bad one. But it was better than doing nothing. First, get the lance. Then, protect the healer. If she had been faster than a horse, she would have been able to help protect the healer. She couldn't, though. She was only human.
lol Tenoroshi having a MMA scene at all. Anyways, if you basically set her up as a zombie (e.g no need to eat/breathe/shit/sleep/doesn't generate body heat), I'll be fine with that too. Will she basically be waddling around on prosethics to start with? Or will she have taken other, unrelated people's body parts in order to sorta live normally? The detective will probably also be a private investigator rather than someone in the force, btw. I can definitely use a gang of crazy motherfuckers though.

Her ultimate time limit is going to be eight years. After that, she'll be unable to assimilate any of her lost body parts. She regains her body parts by actually finding them, so the act of getting revenge is a purely personal thing and won't magically require her bits and pieces. Taking parts off other people (or animals, if you're feeling dangerous) will end with those foreign pieces liquefying after a month of substandard operation. If it turns out that some of her body parts have been, I don't know, eaten or burnt to ash or whatever, then she's shit out of luck for those parts.

i forgot that japan was super into kickboxing, i've been reading too much kengan ashua and forgot that MMA BLOODSPORT isn't the national sport of japan. Zombie is good. She'd probably have prosthetics, just in case she runs out of arm/leg. At the start, she'd probably have some arms/legs taken from a random corpse she found. jesus fucking christ she's going to be walking around dark alleyways looking for random dead people. She'd probably have taken a few arms/legs here and there from unsavory people.

Yea, the entire point of killing the people who got her was entirely for greedy PoS revenge. Isgunbegreat. It all sounds good to me.

also ravioli ravioli give me cs-oli
ignore the fact that i'm literally yeeting the plot of dororo and uratarou into a blender. this is also plan A. in case there's too many edgelords, she gets dumpstered for a softer concept

A woman formerly known as the Tenoroshi's strongest female MMA fighter. Known for being a mad dog. She was brutally butchered by a pack of inhuman serial killers, each one of them taking her limbs and organs as trophies. As they left her for dead, missing most of her non-essential organs, she cursed them all. If only she had limbs. If only she could change her cruel fate. The lostman took interest and gave her the ability to change herself. To change her cruel fate. To live through it. She cursed them all. She would come back. And she came back with the ability to take and assimilate other people's body parts for a limited amount of time. She's on a time-limit because if she doesn't get all of her body parts back, she straight up dies.

She basically has the powers of:
Body part assimilation
Able to live through pretty much everything as long as her brain isn't crushed.

For NPCs, we got the plucky, auxiliary nerd who helps her on her quest. A close friend from before she was murdered

a dangerous detective who's on her case, since she's on the warpath to regain her body parts and killed (maybe 1-2 at the beginning of the story) inhuman killers

and an entire gang of serial killers and all of the enemies it entails

The shield was down. Now was the time to strike. With Mavis at the ready and Rin-Rin giving the lackadaisical warrior the last of her hamon, it was time for her attack. As Rin-Rin fell, Yui quickly twisted her torso and stretched out her arm to catch her head. It wasn't much, but it was better than slamming one's head into the earth. Rin-Rin was still breathing and her heart was pumping, even if raggedly.

“Haha, what a bad name... Name it afterwards,” she directed Mavis. Surprisingly, her tone was much more serious this time around. “Watch her for me. I don't want any stragglers to sneak up on her.”

She closed her eyes. A slow breath in. Her body relaxed as she began to hop in place. Then, she stopped. Her body struck a triumphant pose as all of her muscles tensed. Let it build. Like a bonfire that had accelerant poured on top, strength radiated throughout her body. Her veins bulged out from beneath her now-flush skin. It wasn't enough. No, she held the power. She fed it back to her heart. The stored power built up more and more. As though filling a balloon too much, the container that held her power burst. It echoed within her. Her skin began to crack and harden into thick scales. A large crystal began to burst through the skin on her forehead, alongside a half dozen on her spine. Suddenly, Yui's silence had been broken by an ear piercing yell as she maximized the blade's weight.

Without wasting any time, Yui took one step towards Mavis. The second her foot touched the ground, she erupted forwards faster than anyone could anticipate. A blur of speed, the ground shattered and cracked as she flew into Mavis' shields. She landed her feet directly onto the center of the shield. Her knees bent as she pushed everything she could into the shield for the greatest impulse of all time. Every ounce of energy was transferred back into Yui, who pushed off with as much strength as her legs could muster.

A loud crack resounded throughout the decayed city followed by a small vapor cone in front of Mavis' shield. Yui was nowhere near Mavis' sight. Rather, she was already in front of the large invader. What better way to avoid random fire than to approach with infinite speed? Faster than anyone could have reacted, she had sped directly into the invader sword-first. Using her blade as a lance, she half-sworded the blade directly through the eyesocket of the invader. The beast was unable to deflect it with its innate armour. As soon as it went in, she planted her feet deep within the earth and pushed the blade in deeper, twisting as she did so. In a feat of strength, Yui pushed her attack. She spun around, gripped the hilt with both hands, and swung the blade. The invader came with it, only to be flung upwards at the top of the arc. Yui didn't stop. No, it was almost impossible to avoid things in the air. As the beast came down, Yui unleashed all of her raw strength into a brutal swing. Technique was useless at this point. Even if the swing connected, even if it missed. Yui continued her brutal assault. A never ending onslaught of brutally strong swings with a 75 pound blade. No thinking, just more and more slices.

This was Yui at her maximum.
i'm usually on discord every day and sometimes i go a while without logging into RPG, so it's pretty good in keeping me updated in that regard. there's also no reason for someone to be without info because of discord. pinned messages, important info channels, actually using the OOC, etc. it's just miscommunication, something that's going to happen even if you primarily used the OOC.

discord has pretty much been a godsend for RPs for me because of how much planning you can do when you get updated live instead of every refresh.

it also moves much faster so i can shitpost at an accelerated rate

wait, am i the baddie?
